This place is amazing!!! I know sometimes when you think "fish store" it is kind of depressing idea: some stinky, damp place with poor fish floating at the top of the tanks and a person behind the counter who is mad that you're asking questions. Aquarium Co-Op is exactly the opposite. All fish are happy, healthy, and loving life. The owner Cory has a great team of helpful and incredibly knowledgeable people who just want you to get the fish that is right for you that you know how to keep happy. Cory also does amazingly helpful videos on YouTube. That is how we found the place, then we thrilled to find it was located close by. I bought my first tank at a fish store in Seattle and had some problems. I went and visited Cory today, and let me tell you he set me up with the right equipment. While I was in his store I observed how clean it was and I felt like I was in a tropical fish and plant exhibit at a zoo, it's an amazing place. While I was paying for my new lights and filter system there was a couple in the store that told me that Cory had kept their fish from dying and they were so happy with his help. His prices are fantastic too..I wish I would have gone to his store the first time. Workers were super friendly and helpful with setting up our nano 7.5 planted tank for a beginner. Big variety of fish and supplies. Employees obviously love the hobby, would go there just to look at cool fish. :) Also. the mascot fish is AMAZING and HUGE. read more

Nice assortment of fish there and the prices were pretty good. There were quite a few species of smaller/micro rasboras that I haven't seen before (granted I'm not a hard core aquarist) and the most gorgeous apistogramma cacatuoides. Excellent Light, Bad Customer Service I bought a Finnex 12" Stingray 4 watt light which makes the fish and plants pop in my 15 gallon column tank. Better looking than my original 8 watt T5 bulb. I had emailed customer service and asked the TOTAL length of the light, with switch included, before purchasing. They said 12" but it is actually 12.5" long. I had 12.25" to work with inside my lid. Because the light was night and day compared to the original T5 bulb, I dremeled my lid(which is what I didn't want to do) to make it fit. Customer Service just read the box that said 12". Don't reply as verification if your not going to do the work. read more

I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place. The good: - The store has many beautiful fish, including hard to find fish. - The store offers HEALTHY fish and I can say these are by far the healthiest fish I have ever found at a LFS. We have bought I don't even know how many fish from here at this point...it must be at least 50, not to mention many shrimp. - The fish are very reasonably priced. - The owner is friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. On multiple occasions I have messaged the shop on Facebook with fish questions (ranging from what to feed new fry, to how to help aggression after mating, and so on) and they always respond quickly and thoroughly. I am so impressed by the entire staff, but especially by the owner. - The store features many locally bred stock, which in my opinion increases the chances that the fish will acclimate well. - The store quarantines all new fish. - And in an effort to not let this review run on forever, let me just say there are many other positive aspects, too numerous to list, and I seriously suggest checking this place out :)! I should add that this place is great enough that we drive all the way from Redmond at least once a week just to visit it ;) it has become our weekend tradition haha. So this review isn't necessarily for the store itself. It's for the brick and mortar store, the YouTube channel AND the online store. I live in NY and travel for my job. My aquarium is important to me and I love the hobby and world of aquatics. Cory and his videos are incredible and when I've ordered from the online store the product is great, the updates are wonderful and service is wonderful as well. That says a lot about the type of atmosphere Cory has created for his employees. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

I'm trying so hard no to be harsh but really only on the customer service part because , well first I am subscribed to Cory from aquarium co op on YouTube seems like a great guy and he truly knows his fish ethics! My husband and I went to Seattle to spend for a weekend and I decided to visit aquarium co op since it was only a 30 minute from where I was staying , I was pretty excited to see his awesome store but when I got there and entered the store , I was not greeted what's so ever and I'm just like ok ... and well still decided to wonder around just looking and not be asked if I need help or if they can help me in anyway at all , there were 2 employees in there and not one really even looked at me !! FANTASTIC aquarium store! I have been an aquarist for many years. Currently Imaintain planted tanks, and breed betta fish for international competition. I also keep and breed wild bettas for species conservation. I have been to MANY aquarium stores throughout the years, and am now located in San Francisco, CA, but the Aquarium Co-Op run by Cory really takes the cake. His fish are happy, healthy, locally-sourced, and sometimes very rare and exotic. This place is as good as it gets! It was wonderful to talk fish with Cory. He really knows his stuff! I've been going to Aquarium Co-Op for months now. Having visited nearly every fish store in the general Seattle area multiple times, Co-Op is by far the best of the bunch. The employees truly care about giving good information, advice and helping people. Customer Service is second to none here and if you visit regularly don't be surprised if the staff members know your tanks and interests before too long - they form a good relationship and treat you well. Unlike most other fish places, Co-Op actively quarantines their live stock, meaning you get healthier, happier swimming friends. Their plant selection is robust, the store is always very clean and despite being smaller than most shops they keep an amazing selection of freshwater fish. I could honestly ramble for hours about how much I love the treatment, quality of products and advice or even the owner's (Cory) YouTube channel which is packed with amazing amounts of information to help novice and veteran fish keepers alike. They respond relatively quickly to facebook messages and emails despite constantly being busy, which is just another sign of the quality standards in this store. I drive from Kent almost weekly to visit the store because there is always something new an interesting to see and no other place has given me the combination of quality and customer service that is frankly jaw-dropping in a niche hobby like Fish keeping. Great selection of fish and water animals. They are all kept in good sized tanks and are always beautiful to look at. My only issue is that the owner has gone from nice to rude to me. When they first opened, he was more than happy to help and was always answering my questions with detailed answers. Now He seems more interested in helping the "pretty dolled up girls" than ones who just come in after work. Attitude replaced his nice replies and I DO NOT appreciate it. I've also witnessed him yelling at a worker for no reason. NOT very professional if you ask me. I've never had a problem other than that with the place. All other workers are sweet and very knowledgeable. They always go out of their way to make sure you know what you're doing before you leave the store! read more

Going to Aquarium Co-Op was the first time I ever purchased any fish from a place other than your standard Petco/Petsmart/etc. and let me tell you, I will never be going back to a major chain store for fish ever again. I purchased my live plants, liquid fert, wood, rocks, filter and fish from the Co-Op! Their betta fish set up is the most impressive thing I have ever seen and my current betta is the healthiest betta I've ever purchased. I normally would start running into health issues after a few months but I have had zero problems. My live plants from the Co-Op also brought along some copepod hitchhikers to my tank and my betta could not be more happy zooming around catching them. If you're looking for quality fish (especially humane sale and treatment of bettas) this is your spot! read more

Great variety and stock of most fish, but make sure to call ahead if you live far and are looking for a specific species. Fish here are very healthy and well cared for. Plants also are in abundance here. They all look healthy and well maintained. I would give this place 5 stars but customer service is lacking as in they don't approach you when you are clearly looking to buy something. My solution? Go in there knowing what you want to buy and ask them to bag it for you. They get busy so don't expect much time for them to answer all your questions. Just google it! Overall I feel confident in whatever I buy from here and that peace of mind trumps any dismal service. read more

AQC is one of the best local fish stores I've been to. Cory is knowedable and friendly, and his apprentice Angelo is a pretty swell (ocean puns!) guy too. There's always a good selection of plants and fish, including some harder to find ones. I come here a few times a month even though it's a 1/2 hr away. Just a heads up though: AQC specializes in Freshwater Community fish, so no reef stuff, and aside from some Apistos and Rams, no Old or New World Cichlids. read more

We loved this place! We seriously drove over 40 miles just to check this place out and get plants for our new aquarium. We were not disappointed. Their selection of fish was unparalleled compared to any other place we have gone, including other highly recommended pet stores. They also had stuff like actual wood for the aquarium and logs for anchoring plants. The biggest draw is definitely the selection of fish and quality of service. Another gem of an aquarium store for the Seattle area - Cory runs a super informative Youtube channel and has a huge array of rare plants, fishes, and shrimp. I just unboxed my order 10 minutes ago and everything looks great! The plants look nice and healthy and the dry goods I ordered came in undamaged and beautiful. What is most impressive is that I ordered all of my stuff from Aquarium Co Op nearly half a day after I ordered Aquarium stuff off of Amazon, yet Aquarium Co Op delivered before Amazon despite having Prime. The only oddity was the packaging of the thermometer was absolutely soaked and quickly fell apart. The thermometer wasn't damaged at all so I'm not bothered about it. Overall I am very satisfied and will be updating this review once I have tried all of the products. read more

First and last time customer. Ordered some plants online, they sent me a code for a 5 percent discount for one time use. Plugged it in. The total showed the discount, but when I got my receipt from paypal, no discount to be found. Sent emails and messages for two days to be reimbursed. No response. When I finally got a response, Aquarium Co Op actually bitched at me for expecting a quick response after 5 inquiries that were not answered. They said they get thousands of inquiries per day and, apparently, I was too little to be bothered with and certainly the last in line. Classic case of how to piss off new customers and make sure they never come back. It isn't a joke of customer service, just extremely insulting customer service. Who wants to be belittled when dealing with anyone at anytime? Not me! read more

I came here after going to both the Fish Store in Lake City and Aquarium Zen in Roosevelt. The former sold me some ok goldfish for my pond and the latter didn't carry any. This store had a great selection of Japanese koi and common/comet goldfish. I was super happy with the purchase and prices. The salesman also tolerated my kids and my questions which is admirable. When I am ready to add some Japanese koi to the pond I will return to purchase them from here. read more

Watching Corey's YouTube videos has taught me tons and lead me to try plants in my tanks for the 1st time. I just wish I lived close enough to go to the store and get Deans fish! I found Aquarium Co-Op in an Apple Maps search. I was hoping to find a local store that would help me build an aquarium for my wife and my three year old son to enjoy. Aquarium Co-Op has been everything I was hoping for. The staff are very friendly, never push products I don't need, and are always happy to answer questions even if I don't buy anything that trip. Often times when I visit the store I get the impression that the patrons know each other or the staff. This gives the store a nice vibe. Not one of exclusivity, but of camaraderie. Not only is the store a great resource, but Aquarium Co-Op's YouTube channel is a tremendous source of information. I will warn you that you should not expect that visiting the store is like a real-time interactive YouTube video. In most ways the YouTube channel and the store are completely independent. read more

I've had my fish for little over a month and they are doing great!! This is the first time ALL of my fish survived quarantine I bought 16 fish and I didn't have to medicate! (Usually at least 1 fish dies or has parasites/illness) Great customer service and I love how they made sure I had the right food for my fish! Additionally the customer service is superb. Today was pretty understaffed, yet the one employee gave their full attention to an elderly man that just seemed so enthusiastic about his fish. The shop and fish are nice but prices are through the roof here. Getting there first thing I couldn't get help because they were still in the process of opening. News flash, you get your opening process done BEFORE YOU OPEN so when you open you can help customers who what to buy stuff from you instead of waiting for you to open,,,AFTER YOU OPEN! Business 101 kids. I did get there early and from my car watched as one of the employees wheeled a 44 gallon plastic garbage can out the front door and to where their curb met the parking lot, aaaaaaannnnddd, you guessed it, she poured the dirty fish water with all the excrement into the parking lot. There are tons of health risks in doing this to include Mycobacterium, Erysipelothrix, Campylobacter, Aeromonas, Vibrio, Edwardsiella, Escherichia, Salmonella, Klebsiella and Streptococcus iniae to mention a few. I only found this amusing because she indeed made you wear your mask totally correctly as well as taking your temperature before you walked in. Amazing right? read more
