Been hear a few times and have mixed reviews. Ive had amazing meals, and Ive had meals that fell a bit short. Here a few good things to know. - If you try something that you absolutely love, it may not be on the menu for your next visit. They change it often. Which has its pros and cons. - There is a strange system where there is a weird gap between the breakfast menu and the lunch menu, as well as between the lunch menu and the dinner menu. So its possible to arrive at a time of day when the only menu available for a period of time is the bar menu. I've not see this before and got caught between menus during one visit. - The champagne brunch on Sunday is a good value. For the price the food is adequate. I will say though that on the day we went for brunch the egg dish offered was poached eggs which I am not a fan of. I was, though, able to order some scrambled eggs at the omelette bar. On the flip side, during our dinner visits, I have had some great steaks and other dishes with suitable service. Especially during the time of year when they offer some lamb dishes for dinner. All things combined, we do go back occasionally go back and learn a little more each time. read more

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews for this restaurant. I think it's mistaken for the golf course which is a shame. I have a VIP dining membership and I couldn't be happier with the service and food I receive. Everything I've ordered here I've been very happy with wether it's dining in or take out. Fried asparagus and poutine fries are a must for appetizers. Pala burger is my go to for a quick bite and all their martins are on point. The quality and freshness of meat is impressive. I've had nothing but great service from their bartenders and waiting staff. read more

This place was very nice and beautiful. We just did not have a good experience, food is a bit too over seasoned (Salty), I ordered the chicken pesto and chiken was rubbery and just tossed pesto sauce on rosted chiken. What an improvement! We used to come here a few years ago but stopped coming because of a few bad experiences. We decided to give it another try some time later to see if there has been any improvements. The service and food was incredible and by far, the best we've ever experienced there. We used to come every Friday night for music family and great food - we had a couple bad fridays so we will check out a different spot . Food was crap - the ribs that were ordered came out way after everyone else's food and were burnt to a crisp when they finally DID show up - the waiter was hard to find to return it and manager seemed really pissey about the burnt AF food being returned ! Service has taken a huge downturn at the resort - I know it's hard to get help but they should know what the job is once you hire them - I don't know - we won't be back for a while read more

Terrible, we just left without ordering because our waiter told us he could only take drink orders and we could not order food because the kitchen was backed up and he could not take an order until he got the green light from the kitchen. He said his other table had already been waiting 30 minutes and still didn't have their food. They had a talent show scheduled and they had a lot of reservations but if you know you are going to be busy plan your business accordingly folks. Food was decent, service was horrible. They had way too many wait staff walking around doing nothing. Our waiter took our order, someone else brought the food, then our waiter disappeared for a long time. They weren't busy enough to warrant disappearing wait staff. I was OK with all that until they tack on an auto 18% gratuity on your bill!!!! Excuse me?? Buyer beware. Someone needs to manage the wait staff. We were told the sushi bar was too backed up and we probably wouldn't get our appetizer roll till dinner so we opted out only to watch the sushi chef socialize with the bussers most of the time. My husband & I had dinner here as Pala Mesa is such a special place for us (where we got married). We arrived at 4:30 & had the place almost to our self with a nice view of the golf course. We chose the Sweet & Spicy Calamari for an appetizer -it was different but yummy! We also each had salads-I LOVED the berry spinach salad with pistachios & they also brought us soft fresh baked bread. Our server, Harritte, was super friendly & attentive! Dinner was delicious too! I'd like to send a strong message here because I care and reviews should be constructive to help businesses improve and save themselves. Simply, our recent experience at Aquaterra was poor. We were seeking a nice eve out, an escape from the hot day but the poor cooling system inside left us wanting. I couldn't help but to notice - above the bar is a vent that is black with dirt and trails of dripping ooze on the wall below. How does management think that is okay? We Ordered drinks and food and the service was mediocre. What really caught my attention was the thick, sticky film on the chair's arms. All of them at our table shared the same residue buildup, a symptom of poor cleaning practices. Additionally, there were crumbs - lots of them- not only on the floor under each table, but also on every chair within sight. I remember working at a restaurant in Carlsbad, (still there and successful 20 years later -Jay's Gourmet) and we had to clean and wipe everything down as part of our shift. I often thought it was redundant as we just scrubbed an deep cleaned the day before. But Now I see how important that is. The food was just terrible. Sushi was served on dirty black plates and was warm or room temp at best. The fish was ground into a fine paste- a very odd texture that was unpalatable. Presentation was off. The wasabe was swimming in ginger juice, i had to drain it before the wasabe liquified. Interestingly, last year, we came and had THE BEST food and service. The chef was there that had invented the rolls - Tokyo - was the Bomb. What has happened since then??? A couple of our friends and a family member shared with me their very similar experience- it was good at one time but not now. I would love to see Pala Mesa be successful. If it were my business, I would go in and revamp the dining room procedures and do some staff training. Aquaterra has the potential to be a fine dining establishment but change needs to happen. First, these young people deserve to have some decent restaurant training. Give them skills to be successful ie customer service, food and drink presentation, proper clearing technique, cleaning duties, etc. I hate to see Fallbrook businesses fail but I also don't want to see mediocracy become the norm. There are a lot if ambitious people out there. Empower the staff at all levels to make a difference and reward them. If there is a culture within a business that perpetuates mediocracy, it must be identified and eliminated for true change to occur. We stopped by after work for drinks & appetizers on the patio and ordered the "Hummus & Olive Tappenade w/pita" -It was DELICIOUS- Really appreciate the diversity of their menu too :) They offer "plant based" options (Beyond Burger, Veggie Flat Bread, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, etc...) I might be slightly biased about this place since my wife and I got married at the resort four years ago, and I remember the food at the restaurant always being fantastic. It's nice to see some things haven't changed; we came back for our fourth anniversary and this restaurant still offers amazingly fresh and fabulous food. A quick note: yes, the dinner meals can be expensive. From remembering the menu, the prices range between low twenties to low thirties for an entree. However, breakfast is VERY affordable and you can find ways of making dinner work for you without depleting your bank account so that you get boned with overdraft fees. Read on to learn. DINNER: My wife and I sauntered down at quarter to five pm and sat at the bar area inside. This Restaurant offers beautiful views of the golf course, but also the mountains that envelop the surrounding area, so scenery is a major bonus at AquaTerra. Anyways, on Thursday nights the restaurant has a draft night where drafts start at only $1!!! Every 1/2 hour they go up a dollar. So get there early and get your drink on. Needless to say, we took advantage of this and paid between $3-$5 a draft; I stuck to Stone Pale Ale, while my wife enjoyed her Bud Light drafts (don't ask) for the next three hours. That's right, we canceled our nice dinner reservation in the dining area because we already had wonderful seats, cheap beer, and terrific sushi. Oh, I didn't mention that? AquaTerra makes some wonderfully creative sushi rolls and if you hit up the happy hour (4-6:30 pm), all rolls are half price. Instead of paying $52 for four rolls, we paid $26! It absolutely felt like a steal since the rolls are not some sub-par Whole Foods generic piece of banality. These rolls were freakin' good. A rundown: Rolls 1 and 2.) The "What's That?" Roll and the Peppered Ahi Roll- 4 out of 5 stars for each. The "What's That" roll had spicy scallops and avocado inside with yellowtail and salmon on top. The scallops juxtaposed with avocado was perfection. The peppered ahi roll had the ahi and cucumber inside with salmon and eel outside. My only criticism of both rolls was the spicy eel sauce they put on top was TOO spicy. I hate prefacing something with the lame intro "I love spicy food, but . . ." but it's true; I do love me some spicy, but this shit was overwhelming at times. It was sneaky overwhelming, too, where you could enjoy the flavor combinations in the rolls, but at the very end POW!, that eel sauce knocked the shit out of me. I'd greedily slurp my Stone Pale Ales after every piece. Next time, I'd ask for less eel sauce or (maybe) none at all. Roll 3.) Creole Crab and Albacore (4 out of 5) - Another spicy roll, but I could manually just remove the spice on this one because it consisted of big jalapeno slices. Once those were removed, this roll was perfect. Crab, carrot, and asparagus on the inside, albacore on top with ponzu sauce and chopped garlic. Very refreshing. Roll 4.) Shrimp Tempura Roll (5 out of 5) - Perfectly battered to provide the right amount of crunch and firmness and with only 5 pieces instead of the requisite 8 that came with the other 3 rolls, the shrimp tempura roll provided a perfect end to our sushi eating evening. We ended the entire meal with an espresso cake and a side of vanilla bean ice cream. The cake was more of a mousse than cake, which is to say it wasn't super heavy and rich. It was lighter, more airy, and went well with the sweetness of the vanilla bean. One minor quibble: our waitress was a bit absentminded. She was super nice, but was not the most efficient in checking on us. That said, other servers noticed and tried to pick up her slack by bringing us our first round of beers and refilling our waters. Breakfast: Damn, this review is getting long. I'll be brief here. We sat outside the next morning. You should do this because the air still has a nip in it, the sun is rising over the mountain ledges, and the food is heavenly. We ordered the breakfast tacos to split between the two of us (eggs, potatoes, chorizo, avocado, house-made salsa). The order was supposed to come with three tacos, but our awesome server brought us four (two on each plate) at no additional charge and these tacos were STUFFED! Lots of egg, lots of chorizo, lots of avocado, lots of cheese (a little too much for my taste, but cheese is easy to pick off). When you put the house made salsa on everything, goddamn if these weren't the best breakfast tacos I've eaten in quite some time. We also ordered a fruit plate that came with fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, honey dew, a blueberry yogurt, and cottage cheese. This combination of foods with the scalding hot coffee was nirvana on a gorgeous SoCal day. All in all, for dinner or breakfast, AquaTerra is a great place to eat and now Yelp has told me I've reached maximum word limit. The end. read more

This is a tough review to write, because I love the food, but the service is terrible. They really struggle providing great service, I always see people standing around, I have waited longs periods of time for our food. When it is busy it gets worse, they seem to go through managers, trying to get things right. If you are not in a rush but want great food then go for it. Went for breakfast this morning and was horribly disappointed. Seat yourself but tables weren't bussed and the ones that were cleaned off weren't set. Service was S L O W and mediocre. Had to ask for silverware, salt and pepper. Food was not hot and mediocre as well. I had the eggs Benedict. Menu said it came with fruit and I had rubbery hash browns. Muffin wasn't toasted and my 2 eggs were cooked totally differently. One egg was poached hard, the other the whites weren't done. The hollandaise sauce was the only redeeming item on the plate. My husband got a bowl of house granola - dry? Huh? We won't go back under any circumstances especially because of the lackluster service. My BF and I went for a late Valentine's dinner; convinced him of this place coz I had a Groupon deal. I bought the Groupon coz it is close to home. We both had lower expectation of this restaurant because of the "not so good" comment from a friend. We were pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful dinner! I love the calamari seaweed salad and the cherry crusted salmon. My boyfriend had the stuffed chicken breast. We both enjoyed our meals. Our server, Alicia, was really nice. We found this place through groupon and boy and I glad we did. The service was really amazing, Reggie was our server and he was just wonderful. He took such good care of us and was very kind to our little boy. He had great recommendations and was attentive without being overbearing. The other servers near us were also very kind, two other servers came to check on us even though we weren't their table. The food was also just amazing. I would highly recommend the pork belly to start, it was among the best appetizers that I have ever had. It just melts in your mouth, the polenta is an amazing accompaniment. We had the scallops for our entree, and they were just as good as the pork belly. They were cooked perfectly, which is always a pleasant surprise as rubbery, overcooked scallops tend to be so common. It really was one of the best tasting dinners that I have had since I moved to San Diego a year ago. I would recommend the AquaTerra restaurant to anyone. So after the last visit we went again looking forward to the new menu and some good food close to home. Great bartender and had drinks right away. We ordered our food and..... 45 minutes later, nothing. Bartender apologizes for the kitchen that was overwhelmed by some local club that had come in and ordered dinner. Too bad that a group of people coming in can throw off the kitchen like that. Anyway we paid for our drinks and left after being there for over 90 minutes. Had dinner elsewhere. Wow what a great place for an enjoyable lunch and beautiful view surroundings. Visited for the first time for an early Saturday lunch, being a nice sunny day, we choose to enjoy the outside seating area with views of the golf course and sounds of a waterfall. Menu provided and offered many options that would make you want to try them all, but we started with the tempura asparagus with an amazing dipping sauces and for entree, the grilled chicken sandwich., both worth ordering. Food portions were large and everything tasted fresh. One thing made the lunch complete and most enjoyable was our waiter Fernando. He provided excellent service, very tentative and extremely friendly. Treat yourself to this gem of a restaurant and ask for Fernando, you can't go wrong. read more

So we came in this morning for brunch the morning after a wedding and I didn't realize that the whole wedding party and friends were going to come as well. Shortly after I arrived my party grew to 30+ people with no notice given to the restaurant staff. The servers and cooks were most likely not prepared for that type of rush but they did and absolutely fantastic job. All of the food was exceptional and they service was serious spot on for that large of a party. The servers also were able to accommodate and keep several split checks in order as well which impressed me. If management reads this please commend the AM shift on 9/5 for their excellent work for making the end of a special wedding event a good one. 5 stars read more

We had been "members" for quite some time, enjoying their Monday night specials and other discounts, and being treated like the "regulars" that we were. Sometime this year, that all began to change. Certain employees were no longer there, and the manager left to go to a different restaurant. Since that time, the quality of the service and attitude of the staff suffered greatly. We continued to go. Not anymore. The food is still good, for the money you pay (with the discount). However, we can no longer take the manager's attitude, especially when we took issue with something that happened which he clearly did not want to take the time to address. It is too bad. We will not return until there is a change is management. i hope ownership takes this review to heart. read more

Service here is absolutely awesome. We started at the bar where the bartender was very personable and we got our drinks quickly. Once we moved to our table our server Steven took great care of us and never made us feel rushed. He guided us through the menu and made useful suggestions. The food was great, I would definitely recommended the beer bread and cheese spread to start (I would have been happy just eating 3 loves of that beer bread!!). We had dinner at the Aqua Terra Restaurant and would recommend it for the food...the food has always been very good. Service though was not good at all! When we arrived it was not very busy but to place our order it took a long time. We saw the waitress very little. No bread was offered with our meal. I felt we were to eat...pay and leave. Not sure I would bring guests because having good service along with a good meal is important when taking others out to a restaurant. I don't like apologizing to guests for bad service. Perhaps the waitress was having an off day...not good when serving the public though. read more
