I had a decent prime rib for dinner and had the New Yoorker omelette for breakfast. It was pretty good!

Service here is absolutely awesome. We started at the bar where the bartender was very personable and we got our drinks quickly. Once we moved to our table our server Steven took great care of us and never made us feel rushed. He guided us through the menu and made useful suggestions. The food was great, I would definitely recommended the beer bread and cheese spread to start (I would have been happy just eating 3 loves of that beer bread!!). We had dinner at the Aqua Terra Restaurant and would recommend it for the food...the food has always been very good. Service though was not good at all! When we arrived it was not very busy but to place our order it took a long time. We saw the waitress very little. No bread was offered with our meal. I felt we were to eat...pay and leave. Not sure I would bring guests because having good service along with a good meal is important when taking others out to a restaurant. I don't like apologizing to guests for bad service. Perhaps the waitress was having an off day...not good when serving the public though. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. First of all when first walking in the hostess seemed to have no idea what to do and we had to ask if the place was even open to get served. AND WE DIDN'T EVEN GET SERVED. We literally sat outside for almost 45 minutes and we finally just said screw it we're leaving. When walking out the hostess said nothing and just looked at us like we were some idiots. I would not recommend anyone eating here. minimal vegetarian options, it's mainly a steak/seafood restaurant. the french onion soup is delicious though, and i could barely finish that plus the beet and goat cheese salad. the atmosphere is very classy, though. i wish there were a few more meatless options, or at least lighter options that aren't salad. sometimes french onion soup (with bread and cheese on top) or a baked avocado (with cheese) don't quite hit the spot as an entree. on the other hand, my entire family (steak lovers, all of them) say the food is almost flawless. if i ate meat, maybe i'd go up to four stars. read more

My husband & I got married at the Pala Mesa in 2008 so we've been here quite a few times. Last night we dined here with our 3 month old baby and we had an excellent experience. The sushi good for an appetizer (not the best I've ever had) and the filet mignon was fantastic. The atmosphere was appropriate. I enjoyed the live piano music. This is our favorite place in Fallbrook. The service is always attentive. My favorite dish is the Black and Bleu cheeseburger. The Tuesday night $6 fish tacos are the best I've ever had. The wheat rolls are yummy. I would not go back for Sunday Brunch though, even though the price is very reasonable. Perhaps getting there half-an-hour before closing was a bad move as they were out of everything. The stuffed avocado is unbeatable! Terra, Cody, Chris and Braelyn are outstanding servers and very personable. Our group sits by the fire every Tuesday after a long hike and we are catered to by the staff. Decent food and a fun time with the band playing on the patio. Part of a large group (~20) and not in a rush. Took a long time to get our drinks and then again for the food. The waiter was nice, but clearly overwhelmed with our party and a bunch of other tables. Food arrived randomly and some of us never received our orders. Waited some more and finally had to ask 3 times to get rest of the order. Then, after about 2 hours, we tried to pay. Waiter couldn't figure out how to split the bills. Wait 30 minutes and still can't figure it out. Still waiting. At least we have no where we need to be tonight. Was told the manager would have to talk to us. Manager never came by the table. Hey, Aquaterra management, help out your wait staff and hire enough people to handle the crowds. This wasn't the waiter's fault. read more

Good food, we ate seafood and was par for the course, French Onion Soup and Clam Chowder were great! We had a great energetic and friendly server named Brandon (easy to remember because that's my name), we had such a killer view of the golf course that I thought I was teeing off the whole time! To top it off they had a smooth r and b band that made me feel like dancing and put everyone in a good mood. All and all this is a great place to have guests and dinner at in Fallbrook. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We came here last night to celebrate a friends birthday and it was a disaster from start to finish. Reservations had been made in advance but their was no hostess when we arrived. We waited about 10 minutes before the bartender took pity on us and seated us out on the patio. Then we waited and waited for a server to attend to us but no one showed up. Finally the same bartender came over and took our drink order. Meanwhile, someone was smoking a cigar right next to us. While its not against the health code it is pretty rude. After our drinks arrived we ordered appetizers and waited close to an hour for them. The peanut butter stuffed jalapenos and spicy calamari were good but not worth the long wait. We waited an additional hour for our entrees and drink refills. The bartender did double duty as waitress/bartender so she wasn't able to give us much attention. We also had to ask a few times and wait for someone to come turn on the lights and heaters. We were the only people out there so maybe they forgot about us. All in all it was a 6 hour ordeal. For a party of 8 it was $250 which included our member discount, seemed kind of pricey to me. I'll think twice before returning or recommending this place to others. But kudos to the bartender who took care of us. Not easy having to be the bartender, waitress and bus person. Aqua Terra is a gem tucked away in little Fallbrook where you don't find many better. Full service with Sushi, great tacos, burgers and delightfully different dishes, fresh seafood and a must is the deep fried Avocados! read more

So I stayed at Pala Mesa for my godson's soccer tournament. Because restaurants were far from the resort, we decided to eat at AquaTerra. MISTAKE. As soon as we got there, the party in front of us was greeted by the rude restaurant manager. Yes the manager! Her remarks were so rude that the lady in the party turned and looked at her husband (I assume) shocked! So we get seated, get drinks, order, wait for our food. Then the POWER GOES OUT which of course is out of their control. What they can control is their guest service and recovery! Which they didn't. We were sitting in the dark waiting for our waiter to approach us to at least apologize or update us. But nope. Nothing. I understand they're probably figuring out what to do but at least update your paying customers! So we get our food like 20 mins later and I can't see a thing. Then we get the check and that takes another 20 mins with no update. The power eventually goes on but instead of going touching base with the guests, they start setting up for breakfast for the next morning! Bringing out tables, hauling out chairs, making lots of noise! Wth?! Why haven't I complained to them this whole time? The manager herself already set the tone for this place so I knew she wouldn't do anything about it. I guess the whole time I continued giving them the benefit of the doubt and tried to be patient. I just couldn't let this go because the way they went about this was so wrong. I complained to the front desk and they gave us comp breakfast. Which was nice but I questioned the food since the power was out for quite some time, but they assured me it'd be good. Idk. Okay so there's not a whole heck of a lot of fancy dancy restaurants in Fallbrook so this has become our special occasion place. The first time we ate here we were staying at the resort for a night to get away from our new home madness and had a phenomenal dinner. The second time we went back for our 1st wedding anniversary and had an equally great experience. Both times we were sat in the lower dining room overlooking the golf course which was beautiful and nice and quiet even when the room filled up a bit. I've ordered the same thing both times (the Parmesan Halibut) and I'll probably order it every time until it's off the menu. My husband has ordered the Salmon Oscar and loved his meal as well. We've had great service both times with an almost comical amount of water refills and the bread is so delish that I have to stop myself from getting full before our entrees show up. All in all a great restaurant in an area that is lacking in quality dining experiences. read more

The "rosemary chicken" is listed on the menu as "boneless half chicken" The reality is, it's an "airline breast" which is a half breast. It is one breast minus the tenderloin. What a joke. We talked to the manager and she said the menu is "misleading " and asked if it was good.she could not have cared less that we were not happy. The table next to us got the wrong food and she asked them if it was good anyway. Service was decent at best. Food is way over priced for the portion. The rosemary chicken cost 20 bucks, should go for about $7.50. Was over cooked and dry. I wouldn't call this fine dining, wouldn't call the cook a chef. Decent at best, where's norms? read more

One star simply because it's nice inside. I had to ask for a server after some time of sitting at my table waiting. Do not order the sushi. Although it looks like it's going to taste great, it's bland, a minimal amount of seafood is used, and there's so much over cooked rice it's unpleasant. I ordered an old fashioned from the bar and it was easily the worst I've ever had. I was served bourbon on the rocks with a cheap maraschino cherry garnish. My wife and I were married at the Pala Mesa Resort five years ago. To celebrate our anniversary this year I contacted the resort and asked a special favor for them to reproduce our original menu from the wedding for us. Not only were they able to do it, but I'd say it was better than our meal five years ago! Everything was wonderful, from working with resort staff members ahead of time, to arriving to a reserved table set in the front corner of the dinning room looking out over the golf course as the sun set. It was great! The staff were attentive and kind. The chef came out and personally delivered our main course (perfectly prepared prime rib). I've never eaten anything off of the menu, however I'm sure it's great. read more

Service was great! We stayed at the hotel which I'm not crazy about. Major upgrades needed. But the restaurant was great! Had asparagus tempura, sushi, and squash spaghetti. Server was awesome! Dude some blond girl waited on us, took for ever to get our 1 coke and one crown n coke, the horrible waitress then came up with bread in her hands to tell us the kitchens backed up and it's gonna be a while for our food, it took 45 minutes to get our bread from someone else, after our waitress just brought bread to another table, all the while I'm watching my waitress laugh and talk with the older hostess lady by the bar, it not only irritates me that she sent some one else out with the bread, but the 2nd time I asked about our appetizers being delivered she re-iterated what she just said and I quote "like I told you hunny the kitchen is backed up tonight..." That's when I looked over and noticed the guests directly next to us that walk in not more than 30 seconds before and was seated almost simultaneously was almost finished with their meal, that's when I made the consicious decision to pay for my drinks and leave because I was not going to see my food any time soon. read more

OK back again, don't order the Queso Fundido, it was so greasy we sent it back, unfortunately they did not remove it from bill. I've had this dish many times in Mexico and San Diego and it was never this greasy, they should figure out the proper cheese to use. Definitely should be pulled from the menu. Very disappointed. Christmas buffet was low quality and choices were few. The bins were nearly empty, had not been refilled, vegetables had been sitting overheated too long. Ham was thinly sliced and dry. Deserts were cookies and 1x1 squares or pumpkin or choc cake. Five people no alcohol was $473 including tip. Previously eaten there with menus and food was ok. We live close by and have tried this restaurant on and off over the last year and a half. Food and service always hit and miss. Friday night was the worst ever. Terrible service - one waiter for the entire restaurant? I don't think so - rather inexperienced staff and no wonder there is no one managing the restaurant. Food was disappointing - lacking in freshness. The best was trying to order a bottle of wine that has been on the menu for over a year - they never have it. So take it off the menu. Meanwhile the waiter came after 20 minutes and said they only had a warm bottle - we said fine - we'll take it. Ten minutes goes by - and he had to come and tell us they didn't have it at all. What a charade! This restaurant is definitely off our list. It is terrible. read more

I live nearby so this restaurant is close and convenient. For some reason, every time I go, I think things will be different, but it's more of the same.The service can really lag at times. If you sit outside you can almost be forgotten, although the view is breath taking. I've mostly been on slower days, in which case I expect better quality of service. The food is average at best. I have yet to have had something which tasted delicious in the 15 years I've lived here. Appetizers can be kooky and not very appealing. (like deep fried jalapenos with peanut butter and jelly) A few employees stand out, but one in particular who pays great attention to his customers is Cody. Friendly, polite and attentive! read more

Very friendly, acommadateing, and attentive she is excellent!! In addition Lynn the supervisor does an exceptional job of training and monitoring her very Superior staff in the restaurant. This place is just ok is all. To start off my wife and I came in for dinner and we're never really greeted at all. There was a sign that said seat yourself so we did by the big windows as the place was pretty dead. We were approached very quickly by our server who then went and brought us our menus while the bus boy cleared the extra plates and gave us water. Nice menu, mainly seafood and a few other things like steaks and stuff and also sushi. We weren't really starving so we decided to split a salad, sushi roll and a swordfish entree and our server knew we were splitting everyting. The salad came first. It was good but very small and very little of what was supposed to be in it, namely gorgonzola. The other thing was that it wasn't split in the kitchen for us, although again, the server knew we were sharing everything. Next came the sushi roll. It was a good size but lacked any real flavor. They also give you a little ramekin to use for soy sauce and it was way to small. The sushi pieces really didn't even fit inside so it made it kind of awkward to eat. The swordfish was then served. This was a local piece of fish that was ok but very small for the price. It was served with garlic lentils that were very good but the portion size was way to little. This also, even though again the server knew we were sharing, not split in the kitchen. For the price we paid, it was not what I thought, a good value. All in all the meal was ok but definitely not anything special. I for sure won't be running back anytime soon. We also both thought that this place needs an update remodel. Interior is meh, old looking and kind of tired. Next time we want seafood we'll find another place. read more

My wife and I ate here for Valentines Day. We really liked the service. They had a fixed price menu because it was Valentines Day. I had Oysters Rockefeller for a starter. It was good, but I'm not a big fan strips of bacon in my rockefeller, I like the bacon chopped. The bacon was over cooked and took away from the meal. Also the portion was small, typically you get 1/2 dozen oysters, but there were only 4. The salad was nothing special. Our entrees made the night. My wife had the stuffed chicken in a lemon caper sauce and I had the filet and shrimp. She felt her stuffing was bland, but overall the chicken dish was delicious. My surf & turf was excellent. She had creme brulee for dessert and I had chocolate mousse. They were both well done. We brought our own wine, (Byron Pinot Noir) which complemented the meal nicely. The food overall was really a 3.5, but the main entrees were done well. I would definitely go there again. read more
