We usually go to another Hibachi while in Myrtle Beach but we decided to try something different and I am so glad we did! What a nice place. Even though there was a long wait the waiting area/bar was nice to sit in and relax you had no idea how long you waited. Our cook was Batman (yes Batman) and he was great. Kept the kids entertained and made a delicious meal. I had the filet mignon, chicken and shrimp combo and it did not disappoint. I have to start by saying that my son had fun regardless. The Chef was great. However, our waitress AND hostess were incredibly rude. First, I informed the hostess in private that it was my son's 12th birthday that day and that whatever they do for that would be appreciated. She barked at me that that would cost an extra $6. How outrageous. I didn't ask for a desert cart with it, all I wanted was for them to sing Happy Bday. Thats all. Second, my son informed me that he couldn't eat much so he wanted the kids teriyaki chicken. When the waitress came around to take our food order, she got to him and he told her just that. She rudely BARKED, HOW OLD ARE YOU?! He softly said, "I'm 12." And she barked back "Well you have to be 10 or under for THAT!" He was embarrassed to be called out in front of the whole table. Neither of us had any idea that there was an age limit. Crap, I didn't even look at the darn MENU! My son is a shy and soft spoken, sweet kid. I hate that both of us were treated so hatefully by their staff. To be truthful, the waitress ended up ringing it up as a kids and was not rude again after that but honestly, 2 strikes in one night Miyabis. I will never go back after that treatment. I do not feel like they value the people who spend $35 a person minimum to go to their restaurant when they can spend a third of that and get the same exact food elsewhere. Also, my company will no longer hold Christmas parties there as they have been doing every year for the last 15 years. Treat your customers better. The whole table was sad for my little boy and the embarrassment he received by this hateful person. I'm a single mom and my son is frugal and doesn't like for me to spend $ on him. Our family always tries the local Japanese restaurant while on vacation, and I can honestly say this was THE best tasting Hibachi we have had, and the best show from the chef. Don't bother ordering the double rice, you won't need it..the regular serving of rice is HUGE...you won't walk away hungry. Filet and Shrimp was fantastic!! read more

We went to this restaurant during our vacation over Labor Day weekend. We made reservations for that Sunday night, since we figured it would probably be busy. While the reservation was for 7:30 we weren't seated until well after 8 p.m. ... I believe closer to 8:15. During this time multiple parties were seated, some with the same amount of people in our group (we had 5) or even more! When I asked the hostess how long it would be she told me that there were some groups ahead of us and that's why it was taking so long. But that's why we had a reservation! (insert eye roll here) Anyway, once we were seated, the food and atmosphere were amazing! There was SO MUCH food... definitely enough for everyone to take a box home for lunch the next day. Our chef was hilarious! We were celebrating a birthday, so for $6 we got a package that included a song, a photo, and a cupcake. Went for a birthday dinner at the Murrells Inlet location and made reservations a week ago they lost the reservation then we were rushed at dinner I guess we had someone else's table. The server wouldn't smile and you could not breathe between the soup salad and meal, didn't finish anything before they wanted to take it away. Don't go there for the food because you can only get tons of rice. The cook was not entertaining at all. We have been going there for 15 years for birthdays in the family and this was the worse. Wow Factor if 5-star. The entranceway is an amazing spectacle. Fountain with strobe lights that make droplets of water appear to move upward. The high ceiling with night star effect. They offer the "come and sit with strangers" and be entertained by chefs with tall white hats section, but we prefer the quieter sushi bar section. Salads are pretty cool offerings. Sushi and the like are OK, but their miso soup is very good. Our waitress (Maggie) was quite new and had to check with the kitchen on a few things on the menu, which by the way is very very confusing... in need of a re-design to make things less confusing and confounding. read more

I've been here many times. I love everything I have tried, and I've tried a lot! If your in the mood for hibachi the chefs put on a great show. Its a bit pricy but I always leave with enough leftovers for another meal if not two. They also have a nice sushi bar. I recommend the seafood fantasy Appetizer. Its amazing! read more

Not the best from miyabi's I been to the one in Charleston shrimp had no flavor don't know what went wrong he cooked it just like the other chefs in Charleston but the flavor I was looking for wasn't there it pretty much is the same thing with the steak and vegetables no deep flavors the server could be a little bit better he gave me and my girlfriend a straw and forgot about the poor man sit right next to me so I flagged him down to get him a straw he did but what is up with the straws coming unwrapped ewww other than that the chef was pretty good read more

Very good! The soup is more flavorful than most hibachi places, the salad was fresh and they give you a HUGE portion of rice! (And I mean HUGE!). The teriyaki chicken has a really sweet honey tasting glaze that I really enjoy. This was our most expensive meal at the beach...you pay for the experience too. We will be back! read more

Disclaimer: I can't comment on the quality of food here since the service was so bad I left before getting my meal. My date and I were initially impressed with the decor at Miyabi. The night sky theme is lovely. We went on a crowded Friday night and were immediately seated at one of the hibachi grill tables. The hostess asked us if we wanted the sushi menu and we said yes. Both of us ordered sushi. The selections looked good, if a bit pricey. Not five minutes after placing our order, a staff person came to our table and asked us if we would like to sit at the sushi bar since we had ordered sushi. She said we could go look at the bar, see if we liked it, and let her know. We decided we did not want to sit at the sushi bar (very noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation). When I informed the staff person that we would prefer to sit in the grill area as originally planned, she stated that it is their policy that customers ordering sushi only MUST sit at the sushi bar, and that there would be a ten-minute wait before we could be seated there. She was very brusque and rushed with us. I informed her politely that we would be leaving and she simply glared at me and then turned and walked away. This is truly horrific customer service. What should have been a pleasant, no-stress meal was interrupted by this woman and the restaurant's "policy" which neither the hostess nor the waiter informed us of at the beginning. We had made it clear when we came in that we would be ordering sushi so we should have been immediately seated at the sushi bar if this is truly their policy. I don't know how the food is at Miyabi but I won't be back to find out. read more

Didnt care for this place. I have ate it several times back home, but this one was not great. Got a whole lot of rice 5 pieces of chicken 6 shrimp 6 steak for $28.75. NOT worth it!!! I been to a lot of Japanese habachi but Miyabi's in "Murrells Inlet" is by far the best you can get. Yes, you may have to wait 30-45 mins even after your reservation time, but it's totally worth it......if you're a patient person. The food is great and in huge portions so you'll have leftovers for days. Been coming here since they first opened, which is about 18 years and I still choose them as my favorite of all. Made reservations for 8:00pm. Arrived at 7:50. After waiting 40 min, we we were told reservations are not guaranteed during summer months. We were not given that information when we made our reservations earlier that day over the phone. After waiting an hour, the hostess seated a huge party of people that she knew who arrived after we did. When we asked the hostess why, we were told they arrived before us which was not true. THEY SUCK! Another 1 star visit. A TOTAL TOURIST TRAP. I've had several bad experiences and was so frustrated when a friend wanted a group dinner there for his birthday. I called made reservations and checked if it was ok to bring a cake. They still overbook AS WE WAITED 45 MINUTES WITH NO APOLOGY. I even got there early to make sure my friend did not see the birthday cake. Gave it to the hostess and asked if they would bring it out after the meal (as promised on the phone.) The only thing that saved the meal was the good sauces they give you to dip the dried up chicken. Once again 60% of the meal was rice. The shrimp was tasty but tiny and the 'soup' was just broth. To top it off, they never brought out the cake. I whispered to the waiter, he went back, came out and handed me the box with the cake in it. WHAT A DISGRACE. Miyabi has a special place in my heart. I lived in the MB/MI area for 9 years and this was my go to place for sushi. Year and after year they delivered fresh sushi at reasonable prices. Whenever I make it back to the beach I come here to indulge. The sushi side of the house does not take reservations and I cannot recommend them for a group larger than 6. They do offer a full bar in their lobby to take the pain out of waiting for a table. Parking is always ridiculous but there are some medical offices next door that you can park at. They have a great selection of specialty rolls and if you don't see something you want just ask and they will make it for you. Not to be missed is their selection of appetizers, soups, and salads. All the love and care that goes into their sushi also goes into items like their beef tataki, agedashi tofu and vegetable tempura. To wash everything down they carry a nice selection of hot and cold sake, wine, and beer that includes Kirin, Sapporo, and Asahi. I judge all other sushi places to these guys and even after 13 years they are still the best. If you are in the area and looking for sushi look no further. read more

I'm not a big fan of hibachi style restaurants and this one is no exception. On the other hand their sushi is the best you can get in Myrtle Beach period! I've been going there for years now and they have never let me down on quality. I've eaten at every sushi place I can find here and I love to try new places for it everywhere I travel. Miyabi Murrells Inlet can hold their own with all of them except some of the high end places I've been to in DC or other large metro areas. Their prices are on the low end of average for high quality sushi. I've been to the Miyabi in North Myrtle and there is no comparison, Murrells Inlet is vastly superior. The service can be iffy at times especially when they hire new people for the summer tourist season and the wait times can be long. These are the only reasons I'm giving them 4 stars...the sushi on its own is 5-star. read more

It's a Japanese steakhouse, so of course it's good. It's also expensive, though, but that's only expected. Our chef was Kenneth: a really nice guy, funny, and a great cook with impressive knife/spatula skills. I ordered the steak, shrimp, and teriyaki chicken and everything was delicious, but the chicken was the hands-down best. I advise you to come with an appetite, or at least some space in your refrigerator, because you will get a LOT of food (this coming from a guy who can generally put it away). All-in-all, this would definitely be a place I would recommend if you're on vacation or if you need a good, sit down meal. read more

Came here on Monday 9/19 for dinner. Atmosphere was really cool when we walked in. I think we all stared at the water fixture for the entire time we were waiting for our table. Kenneth was our Hibachi Chef - hilarious, entertaining and SO friendly! Our server was just as great. Never had a more amazing Volcano roll and the Hibachi was delicious. Very impressed. One of the better hibachi places I've been to. The portions are ridiculously huge. No one leaves the place without a doggie bag. Our chef was great. Sadly I can only give the place 3 stars because the food caused me the worst intestinal discomfort I've ever had (even before I was able to leave the place). Miyabi interior surpasses by far any other Japanese restaraunt I have dined at. However, the food was pretty basic. My table ordered some appetizers and mostly sushi. I ordered baked salmon skin roll, it was overcooked that the skin was harsh and EXTREMELY salty. The rice had absolutely no flavor to it. Lets just say the sushi was not the best. As we were walking out, right around dinner time rush. The waiting line was out the door. Also heard from the locals they rush people due to their high volume of people. read more

This is the favorite of all of the restaurants my family of 30 visits while on vacation. The hibachi is absolutely incredible; the chefs are super entertaining and fun and the food is amazing - you'll have leftovers for DAYS! My family has been coming here for over 20 years and this is the one place that we always have to return to, both for their food and atmosphere but also because they're so accommodating. As I mentioned before, we have around 30 people in our party, and every year we're always put all together, even though we call around 3 hours before our arrival to make the reservation (they begin taking reservations at 3 or 3:30). I'm being completely honest when I say that I have NEVER had as amazing of a restaurant experience as I have here every year. If you're anywhere near this place, GO!
