On Wednesday afternoon, July 1, I hit what appeared to be a pipe in the middle of the road. (it looked like a collapsible accordion air duct but when I heard the bang, I knew it wasn't.) I then heard the oil pan dragging so I pulled over only to see what I thought was engine oil gushing out from the oil pan underneath. I was only a few miles away from where we were staying, so I decided to try and make it back - which I did. Because we had to leave for California on Saturday to take care of someone's pets while they were away, I immediately searched online for a local car repair garage and called AR after another garage told me they couldn't take me in. When Sean answered the phone, he was upbeat, chatty but calm and extremely helpful. He told me that if we could get the car in before 5 PM, they could definitely have a look. He gave me instructions as to where to leave the car and drop the key and that they would get to it first thing in the next morning and give me a call. On Thursday morning, he called and told me that the transmission pan (not the oil pan) was heavily punctured and cracked and would need to be replaced along with a new filter and that he'd already had the parts coming in. He said that also checked the underside of the car to make sure everything looked OK. On Friday morning, Sean told me the car was fully repaired, test driven, and could be picked up. We were so relieved! The only downside to this was the cost - $1000 - which was mostly labor but considering it was coming to the July 4 weekend, we were grateful. Highly recommend. read more

It may be a bit premature to be posting a five star review based on just one visit to this shop but I have to say that their performance so far has been impressive. I had numerous conversations with their "Advisor" prior to coming in and he was very free with his time, advice and knowledge. I brought one of my cars in for an "introductory" look-see and was very impressed by the thoroughness of the Tech who worked on it. Prices are decent and they got me in and out without much fuss. The location is not all that convenient for me and they are ripping up the main street in front of them so it's kind of a hassle going there. But I guess a little inconvenience to get the work done by a great shop is a fair trade-off. I'll be using them again and will post updates as appropriate. This performance shop is by far the best in Portland and I would say ALL of Oregon. Martin from AR Auto went above and beyond to make my 2018 Nissan 370Z Nismo a supercar! I came to Martin with my new Nissan wanting more power and to be much faster. Well he DELIVERED. Martin took charge and ordered all the parts I needed and explained everything every step of the way. Martin put in a Stillen supercharger kit , oil cooler kit, Injen dual cat back exhaust, Defi gauges and Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator. I have been a customer for ~10 years mostly taking my 97 328i to the Lake O shop. That shop was closed and their Motorsports location remains. Recently needed them to identify a reoccurring issue in my steering (safety issue). They rebuilt my steering column and returned my vehicle with the steering wheel not centered. Upon informing Martin of issue and concern for attention to detail, he seemed very comfortable with this not having to be corrected asap. I expressed that I would appreciate it being corrected asap and had a time set up to do so. The vehicle was handed back to me still not correct. Was willing to be patient as I figured I'd be back soon for an oil change and it could be addressed again then as I do not live close to their shop and taking time out of my schedule for repeated visits to the shop is not easy. Steering column began to make noise again and could tell that the steering is getting stiff (safety concern). Texted Martin of situation and concern and he apparently had little concern for implied safety concern. Martin recommended the steering rack be looked at since that's all that is left in this simple system. I texted back shortly thereafter to ask for a steering rack be ordered so that we can get resolution to the ongoing issue. I mentioned that I was a little frustrated. Did not freak out or cuss even though this is a safety issue. Couple days have gone by with no reply.. Getting ghosted for a customer safety concern.. I have recommended this shop to others in the past. Their reviews you will notice are from years ago. The most recent review is of another customer suggesting their skepticism of quality. AR came very highly recommended, so when I needed a PPI, (pre-purchase inspection), done ASAP, I thought I would give them a try. They were the only shop I called that could meet my time frame, and the service and attitude of the employees I dealt with was remarkable. They were extremely thorough, explained each step as they went along, were honest and even let me hang out in the shop and ask questions. I've never had such a positive experience when dealing with an auto related situation. Not to mention, their rate for the PPI was A LOT lower than all of the other shops I contacted. I rarely take my FD into the shop and am very picky as to who gets to work on it...her? .....since I do almost all the work myself. After an off track excursion at PIR, my steering was slightly off. Took it to AR for an alignment with my own specs. Luckily nothing was bent and it was just a lose nut. Car tracks perfectly straight now!!! Their waiting room is super comfy with lots of old option videos to watch. By far, the best experience I have ever had with an automotive shop! I went in today to upgrade my BMW M3 with a carbon fiber front lip. I was help by Martin and Caleb. Both are very friendly and very good at what they do! They went above and beyond with their service - the front lip I purchased needed a little bit of customizing and cutting to fit. They made it fit absolutely PERFECTLY and did it very quick. They also found a bolt loose in my suspension that was causing a clunking noise and movement of my wheel, they tightened and fix that issue without charging me extra. This goes to show how truly honest and helpful this shop is! I love these guys! I always feel like my Jeep looks like a fish out of water in their garage but "she" and I love their attention to detail. The customer service is wicked amazing. The respect of my pocket book is divine! I got a jeep so I can pretend like I am a mechanic and they are great at letting me do so! Quick to answer questions and be honest about whether I should try to do something on my own or not. And best of all, when I just don't have the time to do something as simple as putting in a new battery, they get it done for me in a timely fashion with excellent service and quality control. AR Auto Service gets my five stars for service, diagnosis, and fair price for any work that needs to be done. I have been taking my BMW to them for years. They did the pre-sale inpection on it when I purchased it. Owner Eddie Nakato and staff have always been professional in every way. They take the time to discuss repair work that will be done as well as cost and options when doing the work. If there ever has been is a problem (which has been on a very rare occasion) with any work that has been done they were quick to correct it in a pleasant manner. I have been taking multiple cars to AR auto for a few years(A Porsche, A BMW and a Lotus). Eddie always spends time to explain to me what needs to be done and WHY. Took my BRZ to get it corner balance and aligned. The alignment was very good according to the post alignment specs. They did it in a few hours even though I dropped my car off and they had all day to do it. Eddie the owner was very courteous. The other front desk guy wasn't friendly by any means but wasn't rude either which was ok with me.
