I also added a comprehensive exam (which they offered at a discounted rate) for them to look at my car as a whole and to let me know what things might need repair now and in the near future. They were able to see my car within a week of me reaching out for an appt, and they only kept my car for ~5 hours. They tried everything they could to find the source of my leak, but when they couldn't, they referred me to Liberty Water Leak, who was fantastic and found the sources of my leak and water damage within a few hours. With the comprehensive exam, they listed each item that needed repair and were not pushy AT ALL. They also answered all of my questions, yes... even the dumb ones. There was an oversight where my wiper cowlings were not installed correctly, so I did leave an honest review on SureCritic saying that I wasn't sure if I'd trust them with further repairs due to that mistake. Within a week of posting that review, the shop called me to apologize and discuss what happened. On top of that, they refunded me my entire bill. I understand now why Tom Dwyer Auto has such good reviews-- They genuinely care about their customers and producing quality work. I am grateful to have been treated with respect, not taken advantage of as a female, and for their determination to correct the mistakes made. Thank you again!

If a car mechanic company can't do an oil change or check up like yours, there's something wrong. Trust has been already ruined, and my time has already been wasted. The same day I was able to get my oil changed by a better more brave mechanic. Still would not recommend Tom Dwyer.

I take both of my vehicles to A/R routinely. The daily driver and my track car. Today Eddie managed to fit my track car into his already busy schedule so I could be ready for the next event. The whole crew stayed late to make sure everything got done and they did a phenomenal job. They always are so thoughtful and thorough on every job, from simple oil changes to problem solving on a temperamental British car. I've always left the shop knowing I had the best service and pay the best prices for both parts and service. I know you cannot find another shop in the Vancouver/Portland area that can compare. I'm happy to make the commute across the bridge to A/R, its worth every minute of traffic. And you can't beat the fine reading material available to you as you wait! Eddie and Don an the rest of the crew at AR are top notch! Not only are they experts in diagnosing problems any vehicle (often times they don't even charge to diagnose the problem). I have a sports car and a Toyota Tundra truck, the 2000 Tundra was having a start issue where the engine would start then immediately die. I had taken video of the problem in action, they immediately knew what the problem was (mass air flow sensor), they simply cleaned it, and looked at the throttle body which had lots of build up, they cleaned that as well. Now it runs like a brand new truck! They only charged $50 to fix. Best $50 ever spent! I believe that if I had taken it anywhere else, they would have just started replacing stuff. I suddenly and unexpectedly had a burned-out left rear turn light, and in a large city such as Portland, that can be very dangerous. I am relatively new in town, didn't want to drive half an hour to my auto dealer, way north of me, so got online, called AR Auto Service in Lake Oswego, very near my home, and was told to just bring my mini-van by the shop and they'd pop in a new bulb, on the spot, no charge, no waiting necessary. I am SO grateful to them, and intend to return for other services!! A huge thank you!! read more

My Prelude was leaking oil all over my driveway so I took it in to AR expecting the worst. What they found is that oil was freely dripping from my oil plug. Turns out that the last time I had the oil changed at Jiffy Lube they put in some type of bolt rather than a proper plug. AR found an old plug in their shop and only charged me for an oil change. From now on I'll be getting my oil changed at AR in addition to maintenance. read more

After a few hours they called and went over the couple issues they had found and should be replaced which they were very nice and helpful. They found that one control arm had some play in it and should be replaced, the brake vacuum was bad, and one of the window switches auto up didn't work. After taking this to the dealer they fixed the issue and all was well. After driving 100 miles back home we noticed the car didn't handle any bumps or turns very well. We took it to a local mechanic where they found the following wrong with it- Self leveling shock system (air bags and shocks) torn and blown out- $1500 Compressor for shocks burnt out and hasn't been operational for a long time- $1000 Upper passenger control arm causing stability issues and creaking (needs replaced and alignment)- $950 We paid $199 to have them check the important components of a car before buying. Now we are stuck with a bill totaling over $3000 on a vehicle with less than 150 miles from us driving it. Do not take your car here for pre-purchase inspections. These are all common failure points for this vehicle with this many miles as confirmed with multiple other trusted local mechanics in our area. The least they could do is refund this inspection fee to help cover the cost of repairs of a car we wouldn't have bought in the first place if due diligence was done as we trusted it would be.

After sending the VIN out to a handful of shops, Dean was one of few who responded, had worked on the vehicle, and was able to clear up some details. Since then, I've chosen Futrell as my go-to for routine and incidental maintenance. I especially appreciate their transparency, which is the most important aspect of interaction with a business for me. For more basic stuff, I prefer to do some of my own maintenance. In one case, there was an aspect of routine maintenance that we hadn't discussed when I dropped my vehicle off. Megan called to discuss that with me before the work was executed, giving me agency in whether or not I would handle that aspect of the service myself - something I really appreciated. In another case, I was dealing with a dying Turbo. Megan was very responsive in getting me an estimate and, since timing was a critical component of my decision making process, outlined projected timelines / availability for the repair. Megan wound up referring me to another shop across town that was able to get me back on the road sooner. I've previously dealt with other shops that try to secure paying work by telling the customer what they want to hear while failing to meet those expectations, the team at Futrell are looking out for what's in their clients' best interests and for that they have my loyalty.

Many things could cause this...Phil tried the obvious way to clear the light, didn't work. I had done some research myself and knew we were on the right track. Phil thought it was the thermostat, not letting the engine heat up enough for the DPF filter to work properly. Replaced thermostat. Cleared light after driving at speed, Audi runs great now; getting good gas mileage and DPF working as it should. Most places would have recommended replacing the DPF filter which is a huge expense and not necessary. Replacing the thermostat was a huge cost savings. Thank You Phil and Alex!
