Hey! I'm a student, just about to go to school, a week out, I hired a personal mechanic to help with my e46 convertible, and he ended up somehow breaking the latching mechanism on my convertible top. Terrible timing, so I went to Autohaus Bayern to see if I could get it fixed. They called and said I needed a new motor, and quoted me over $1,400, they mentioned seconds later that they didn't even take off the trim panel to see what the problem was. I came in the next morning the call off the repair because I wanted a second opinion. They already were taking off the trim but the part that wasn't installed, they told to me that it's going to be $800 to put everything together. They ended up calling off the repair and it was $370 for no repair at all. I got a second opinion, the motor is fine and gears in the main mechanism were stripped. Autohaus Bayern attempted to charge me $1,400 without knowing any root cause. read more

Brought my 2014 VW Golf in because the drivers side front window was stuck. Upon going through the diagnostic tests there were additional things wrong with the car that would ultimately cost more than the car was worth. Not a big deal, I agreed with them and went to pick up my car. After I was on my way home found that a different window was now stuck down, my upholstery inside was also messed up, and a new air bag light was now on my dashboard. I understand there were several issues with my car, but I should not have received my car back in this condition without any type of warning. Now I have to go somewhere else to at least get my window to get closed. Overall, the staff were nice to me, but my car was given back to me in worse condition than I handed it in just because of a 1 hour diagnostic test. read more

This was my first time using this company. I was surprised that they charge for an estimate. I asked the representative that for future customers he should share that there is a charge to look at the car. He abruptly said in a grumpy voice, " I don't work for free." As a customer, I just want to know what's in front of me when I make an appointment. If the company had shared with me that there is a cost to get an estimate when we booked the appointment, I would've looked at another German car mechanic in the area. For my Honda I go to Raleigh Hills automotive and they do not charge for an estimate. They also are very nice and great to work with. For future repairs on our BMW we will go to Munich Motorworks. The shop was very accommodating/flexible in schedule and were able to get the car right in for the inspection after I flew in and dropped it off. Their waiting room is setup for a comfortable work or hang-out environment with free wifi, couches, tables, recent (not old!) magazines, and a clean restroom. Their inspection revealed some items of concern that the selling dealership's inspection did not catch, which allowed me to negotiate down on the price a little more. I have a 1987 BMW e28 in 535is form. I have owned this car since 1990. I purchased it from the local authorized BMW garage as a CPO car. The car came with a nice warranty and was like new. I have kept this car in top shape and have always serviced and repaired the car myself. The car mysteriously developed a condition where the engine would run until warm and just shut off! Cool down and it would restart. I had the car towed to a local BMW repair shop that offered "factory-trained" technicians...My car has NO OBD diagnostic port. This car requires a genuine knowledgeable BMW mechanic/technician to work on it. After 8 weeks of farting around with my e28,and an $800 charge, I finally called B.S. and had the car towed to AUTOHAUS BAYERN. George, the wonderful old-school technician fixed this problem in 2 (TWO) hours!!! You read that correctly, two hours. Only AutohausBayern. Period. BTW-no new parts required. I hate to give negative reviews, but I wish I had a heads up before I went. I called ahead and told them I needed rear brakes and got a quote. The quote fell where Kelley Blue Book said was reasonable for the service. I arranged a friend to meet me there early in the morning to drive me home and showed up for my appointment. That's when I learned that not only didn't they have the parts in stock, the raised my quote. Moreover, the new quote was just as high as what BMW told me it would cost to have my brakes replaced at the dealership. If I'm going pay a premium, I'm going to pay the dealership where they'll at least give me a loaner car and the pricing is up front. This was a total bait and switch. Even if I had agreed to the higher price, they said they wouldn't even have the parts until the next day or so. I had an appointment and they knew my car model, year, and the service I needed. They could have called ahead to tell me they didn't have the parts before I drove all the way there, but they didn't. I ended up going to Tigard Premier Auto Care and they are great! Quoted me less than the dealership and had the parts when I came in for my appointment. I recommend Tigard Premier Auto Care and definitely not Autohaus Bayern. read more

Nearly 100,000 of the 150,000+ miles on the car have been serviced by Autohaus Bayern. We've been through a lot; oil services, inspections, breaks, radiators, thermostats, auxiliary fans, vacuum pumps, etc... The service from Autohaus Bayern is always the best and their prices are fair and reasonable. The crew at Autohaus Bayern always makes sure you know what's going on with your car - they are detailed and thorough in their communication and recommendations. Even on the most difficult problems, like an unusual overheating issue that took a lot of diagnosing and several visits to find, Autohaus Bayern's professionalism and commitment to service was exceptional. If you're looking for an honest, trustworthy, professional, friendly, and capable, place to bring your bimmer for routine maintenance or something more intensive, this is the place to go. And as long as George is still there, you know that it will be done properly and in a timely manner. If you want to go pay 30-50% more, have technicians that you'll never see, with experience levels you'll never know, get pressured to do work that you don't need done, and deal with a service department that's treats you like a number, go to a dealer or some other place. I don't know how ANYONE could have anything bad to say about these guys. This is to date the ONLY stand-up automative repair shop I've ever found. Most mechanics will lie to you and treat you like an idiot while they try to sell you on a bunch of things you don't need. Darby and the guys at Autohaus are as honest as they come. For once a good mechanic who doesn't try to sell you the entire time. I took my BMW M3 here to have a new DME aligned with the EWS on my car. Darby talked shop with me (I'm a very knowledgeable DIY mechanic myself) for a good 30 minutes while one of the techs aligned the DME. They were done with it in around 40 minutes and they only charged me $50! On top of that they inspected my car for any issues and topped off all the low fluids. I do most of my mechanic work myself but anything big I'll definitely be going to these guys for. I honestly can't even begin to say how refreshing it is to know that there are honest mechanics out there such as Darby. If the world had more guys like him mechanics wouldn't get such a bad rap. Anyways, I highly recommend these guys. The shop is clean as hell, they are super friendly, and they won't try to take you to the cleaners like so many mechanics out there! I like the BMW dealership nearby. I truly do. I will even pay their moderately exorbitant price for an oil change, just so I get to drive a brand new BMW loaner. They've loaned me 2 different 3 series, a 5 series and even one of the X SUVs. I'm rather easily amused, particularly so by shiny items like cars that aren't mine. I don't like them enough to choose them for my car's first "Inspection 1" service, though. If you're familiar with BMW service technology, then you know that Inspection 1 may as well be called "Inspection $$$". In the case of my car, it requires a moderately intricate valve adjustment, which I have no business doing on my own. Enter Autohaus Bayern. I stopped by one day last week just to kinda feel them out and get a quote for the service. Darby was kind enough to take the time to answer all of my questions while simultaneously assuring me that he definitely knew what he was talking about when it comes to BMW service. Their shop is clean (pretty much spotless), well organized and comfortable. Parking is tight, but there's tons of room on 109th just to the east, right next to Target. So, I booked an appointment for the following week for the dreaded service. And, while it did hit the pocketbook substantially, it was less than I would have paid at the dealership, and I'm extremely satisfied with the work. Darby communicated with me about what was happening to my car in a very timely manner. I'm certain that they didn't unnecessarily charge me for anything, even though I left that window open, so to speak. I'm a happy customer, and can recommend them to fellow BMW owners (and all German cars) with confidence. read more

Recently my 09 Jetta TDI was giving me some funky problems. I was trying to avoid the stealership and my normal shop told me they "couldn't read the car's computer..." which struck me as odd. I called Autohaus Bayern and Darby urged me to come in directly after I got out of work as his shop was open till 6 that night. I rolled in around 5:30 and Darby took my Jetta in and ran all kinds of computer readings on it. He was patient with me while I tried to explain the problems I was experiencing. He had me stand next to him while he walked me through the different computer screens & read through the readings the car's computer gave out. He had me drop off the car the next morning to be looked at more thoroughly. In the end, the problems had to be dealt with by the stealership (sad face) but Darby did not charge me at all for the time my car spent in his shop. I received a more-than-thorough explanation for each issue and recommendation for exactly what I needed to tell the dealership in order to have the issues correctly addressed. Having a VW Bug is cute and all but the headlights go out constantly since they're always on. I changed them out myself last year but that was a pain in the you-know-what and when they both went out again, I decided to take it in. I also had a turn signal light that was busted and the bumper around it a little wonky. They replaced all three lights for me no problem. They recommended a couple other local businesses to get a couple things fixed (potentially the bumper and a rock chip in the windshield) and were very nice and helpful. When I first called and talked to them on the phone I felt very comfortable and..I think his name was Darby? talked to me about an issue I'm having with my door locking with the key fob and straight up told me how expensive that was to fix and gave me some tips, if I'm able to live with it. I am, and was appreciative of him being straightforward and them not being pushy about having them fix every little thing. I wouldn't say they're *cheap* per se, but I think my idea of cheap is unrealistic when it comes to fixing crap in cars. That shiz is expensive. I'm okay with paying more for a company where I enjoy talking to their employees and I trust my car in their hands. read more

Darby and Richard were incredibly helpful, speedy, and reasonably priced. My recently-purchased 2009 MINI Clubman S started smoking on a Monday afternoon. I called first thing Tuesday; Darby said they probably couldn't work on it until Friday, but to bring it in anyway, just in case (and that I shouldn't drive it with an overheated engine anyway). I didn't have to wait 2 minutes in their nicely furnished waiting area (free WIFI, kids place space, etc.) before I received a ride home from their staff. Darby called that evening with a diagnostic of the car and quoted me a price. When cross-referencing with the Internet, it was more than reasonable for the range of repairs on a euro/BMW turbo engine. I was in my car and on my way midday on Thursday, a day earlier than expected. As a side note, I had initially planned to take my car to the MINI dealership, which is only a couple of miles from Autohaus Bayern. (Bayern is conveniently located near the slew of dealerships on Canyon road. I would use them in the future for a pre-purchase inspection.) The dealership wouldn't have been able to look at my car for more than a week and a half. Since I wasn't under warranty, and this is my main mode of transportation, it did not seem worth it to stick with the dealership. Darby was great (read: patient, clear) about explaining the work done on the car, the general health of the motor, and what may have precipitated the problem. I felt like my service was not only efficient and reasonably priced, but that my euro car was in knowledgable hands. I don't think I will take her anywhere else from here on out. read more

My car had some issues as I drove 1000 miles from Canada to California, and it turned out to be a serious problem that could have destroyed my engine. I'm not a customer here, and I've never even made a stop in this area before, but I desperately needed a knowledgeable mechanic immediately (during the holidays, and in terrible weather). Every shop in the area was booked out for weeks, including this one, but these guys recognized how difficult my situation was and they never made me feel like I was a burden. They gave me and my dog a warm place to wait (my heater had stopped working and I was in freezing temperatures, on the inside of my car!), they were direct and through with their evaluation, and they stayed late to get me back on the road safely. If I lived in the area, this would be my shop. I will always be grateful for their care, honesty, and consideration. I have been using this shop for 11 year for my BMW repairs. They have been professional, prompt, and very reasonable the entire time. They have helped me with error lights decoding. Each repair the look thru the entire car, brakes, etc for anything else that could need service. Their service technician George is friendly and experienced. He has been there a long time and I can count on him doing the job excellently. They always have recommendations but NEVER push you to make them unless you confirm first. Great Shop! It took me a while to trust someone with my rare, limited production Audi. These guys passed the test and have full reign of all 3 of my Audi's. They have fair prices and a good clean shop. Nice staff, they aim for excellent customer service and I'd say they achieve that almost always. Clean and KID FRIENDLY waiting room. They have helped me solve some strange problems with my cars and have always treated me fairly. I'm fairly knowledgeable about my cars and how they work and sometimes could be accused of micromanaging. They have taken that in stride and have adapted well to my style. Darby has gone the extra mile many times to understand and research issues and make sure he and his technicians are educated about the problems my car is having. Are they perfect? My answer is this: they are better than you would expect from the unpredictable world of auto mechanics, and better than I've experience anywhere else. Give them a try. Blatantly Dishonest: Wanted to charge me over $800 for a new oxygen censor to handle the local ethanol and winter gas additives; went to the BMW dealer for a 2nd opinion and had my existing oxygen censor computer updated for $26.00; went back and confronted them and the arrogant response was "...well, BMW does'nt let us have access to their computer updates..."; unbelievably dishonest. read more
