I brought it here to get resized and an updated appraisal. Once there, Ali talked me through ways to improve how the center diamond was set in the ring. We worked together and came up with a personalized frame and chose to add some side baguette diamonds to make the appearance of the center stone look bigger than it is. After a lot of back and forth, we came up with the perfect vision for the ring. Ali, Hagop and their whole team worked so hard in bringing my vision to life. Knocked the row 70% or so back into place and then proceeded to shave off so much gold that the edges on my finger are not longer sharp and defined. The band is considerably thinner. Gold being around $3500 an ounce can create this level of dishonesty. He didn't ask if I wanted it polished. Just proceeded to shave off gold. Don't go here.

My fiancé proposed without a long-term ring, since I wasn't sure exactly what style I wanted. We gathered a few pictures for inspiration and met with Spencer at Skylight Jewelers to create a custom design. We iterated a bit with him on the CAD model before finalizing everything and having it cast. We had Spencer purchase a lab diamond for the gemstone, and he helped us through the process on deciding between natural vs lab and the criteria for stone quality (which neither I nor my fiancé were familiar with). Everything turned out better than we could have hoped! My fiancé and I still think the ring is so pretty and is exactly what I wanted. Spencer and Eugene also worked with us on a couple follow up visits to resize the engagement ring so that it fit just right. As our wedding date got closer, we went back for wedding bands and the process was just as easy. We chose very plain band styles that Spencer cast in the correct size for both of us. Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. The Younger man Took about a half an hour to show us various coins, which he allowed us to handle, and teach us the history of each one. The older gentleman showed us Japanese collectible carvings that were over 100 years old and had amazing detail. Each line of the bottom of the sandals was hand carved into it. They let me in on a secret: they are opening a museum upstairs in a couple of months. Finally, a space opening up in Boston offering something we don't already have... a "money museum!" THE DEAL: Currency is the key to our history. We must never forget our past, lest we repeat it.
