My husband and I went to him to have our wedding rings adjusted. Mine had to be sized down. Serjeo sized my finger, but wanted to make sure there was enough room to go over my knuckle. It ended up being a little larger than I preferred when I picked it up, so he fixed it at no charge, right then and there! My husband's ring needed to be stretched. Because of the material, size, and adjustment needed, Serjeo recommended an annealing process (carefully heating and cooling to slowly stretch the ring without damage). Because of my husband's finger shape (larger base than knuckle), Serjeo not only ensured a perfect and comfortable fit, but gave advice for avoiding swelling or situations that might cause problems. Shopping for an engagement ring can be incredibly intimidating. You're preparing to spend a lot of money on something that you hope your significant other will like. You're typically talking with salespeople who are trying to downplay the price tag and upsell you on differences unnoticeable to the visual eye. All the while, they're trying every trick in the book to rush you to a decision. Fortunately for me, I found myself in Serjeo's shop in downtown Boston. He was the first jeweler to talk to me like a person and not just a customer. I wanted to make sure I was choosing the right things, so I took a while to shop around, do my research, and decide on the setting and the diamond. I went to his shop multiple times and emailed him back and forth for feedback and advice. He listened to me, understood what I was looking for (and my budget), and helped me create the perfect ring for my bride-to-be. I previously wrote Serjeo a review after he expertly sized a ring for me, and had said that when my boyfriend and I were ready to get an engagement ring, that we could come straight to Serjeo - and we did! Like I said in my review before, I had alway wanted a vintage ring, but that after meeting Serjeo and seeing his work, I knew I wanted him to make me a custom piece. I have found a vintage ring that I adored years ago, and sent the pictures to Serjeo and asked if he could make something very similar, but with a few minor changes. He immediately said it wouldn't be a problem to create, or to work within our budget. We live in California and would not have the chance to go back to Boston during the process, and though everyone thought I was crazy to design my engagement ring long distance, I never had a single worry or doubt about it coming out perfect. Even from across the country, Serjeo and his team made me feel completely secure and involved during the whole process. He even let my friend who lives in Boston come by his shop to look at the ring before sending it to my fiance, and she can't wait to get her ring made by him someday too! I wanted an Assher cut center diamond, and Serjeo said he knew of the perfect stone for me and tracked it down; and he was right, its stunning! He also found perfectly matched baguettes for the side, and they could not be any more perfect. He also made the ring very sturdy and heavy, which is perfect since I am very hard on jewelry. I was in complete shock when my fiance finally gave me the ring - it is absolutely stunning and beyond what I could have imagined. I have already received so many compliments on it, and have even had strangers stop me to look at it. And on top of creating my dream engagement ring, Serjeo also made two perfect pairs of earrings for me - one pair of small Asscher studs that perfectly match my ring, and one pair of tiny ball studs to replace the pair that I wear everyday but wouldn't match my ring. And of course, both pair of earrings are works of art as well. And aside from creating jewelry for me that I will cherish for the rest of my life, Serjeo's prices are completely unbelievable. Everyone who has seen my ring things that my fiance paid more then twice as much as he did for it, and I would have thought the same thing once I saw it. Knowing that I wanted an Asscher, my fiance had stopped into a few jewelers to get an idea of prices for just the center stone and was quoted up to *eight* times as much for nearly identical center stones to the one Serjeo put in my ring! We are both shocked and grateful that Serjeo was able to create my absolute dream ring (and two amazing pair of earrings!) within our tight budget. He is truly a miracle worker. So after two lengthy reviews, I would like to just say that there is no one better work with then Serjeo. I worked with Serjeo to make an engagement ring. I came to him with photos of designs that I liked and some thoughts about my aesthetics. When we met, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Serjeo could make a ring that surpassed the intricacy of the samples I presented, and he contributed some very nice ideas for the final design. Two weeks later he showed me the wax model. And then a month later the actual ring was ready. I was completely satisfied with how the ring turned out. For large, center diamond, I found Serjeo's price to be competitive with diamond prices I saw on pricescope and eBay. I was surprised because almost always physical stores can't compete with online prices for stones. The good price on the stone plus the opportunity of having a custom, unique ring made this purchase a great value. After reading reviews on Yelp, I knew that Serjeo was my best bet to resize my very unique engagement band. Serjeo's studio stands out among the other bland storefronts at the Jewelers Building in DTX. He has a really modern vibe going for him that sets the space apart. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and the receptionist/assistant/super-star at the front offered me a choice of beverages and seat. I went with water (served in a glass, not in a plastic or paper cup....classy!) and started to relax. Moments later, Serjeo breezed in and brought me into his consultation room. He took a look at the band and we started to discuss resizing. He was very honest with me that it wouldn't be easy due to the pave band (diamonds studded all around) because as he heats the metal and bends it, there is a chance of some of the diamonds coming loose of their settings, falling out, etc. He is willing to resize the ring, but I will have to pay for any diamonds that need to be replaced. Because the diamonds in the band are small, he can replace them for $20 apiece. It sounds reasonable (as long as we only potentially lose a couple because that can add up fast!!) so I tell him to go ahead. Next, Serjeo leads me into another space outside of his showroom. It's his work space. Very cool. He apologizes to me as he ups the volume on his stereo and electronica pumps into the room, telling me that he needs music to work. Then he pulls up a chair for me, tells me to take a seat and let's me watch the entire process. It was so neat! We only lost one diamond which he carefully replaced and he resized the ring in spectacular fashion. My ring is top heavy due to the setting and he resized the ring so that the underside is more oval and my ring doesn't move around anymore. It's fabulous! I will definitely come back to see Serjeo for other pieces in the future. His craftsmanship is amazing (he showed me a pair of $20k earrings he just finished making for a client...wowzah!) and he's so personable and easy to talk to. The total cost for my resizing plus one diamond replacement was around $80.00 ($60 to resize, $20 for the diamond). The cost to resize is completely dependent on the type of band you have. Expect to pay more if you have a pave band or any type of band that has diamonds set in it. read more

I began my search for an engagement ring as many do. I stopped at the local Tiffany's and David Yurman to look at rings and get a feel for what I was getting into. I was immediately turned off. We came here to get our engagement ring sized up. We mainly chose Serjeo because they said on the phone that they would let us watch the resizing process (although they said they don't usually do that). My fiance was paranoid about someone replacing the diamonds with cubic zirconia, so that was a big plus. :) I was surprised to discover that it is only a two-person operation. Serjeo is the name of the jeweller himself, and he has one secretary, and that's it. It felt nice to be in that kind of craftsmanship environment. Serjeo was very thorough in testing different ring sizes on my fiance to make sure we picked the right size. He even inspected the bone structure of my fiance's finger so that he could recommend a size that would best balance comfort with security (i.e., not having it come off easily). It was very interesting to watch Serjeo work and his skill was impressive. The ring was made of platinum 950 which we had heard typically can't be resized without leaving a mark, so we were surprised to find in the end that it was impossible to tell that the ring had ever been a different size. Serjeo explained that many jewellers use less pure platinum with a lower melting point, but he uses the good stuff, so he was able to make the new material blend seamlessly with the old. I was also surprised that the bill was less than I had expected. I had already bought a Yelp deal for a coupon at a discounted price, but the bill was even less than what I had paid for the coupon. Serjeo didn't want me to lose out so he very generously issued me a gift card to make up for it--something that the Yelp Deals terms of service did NOT require him to do (I checked). Bless Serjeo. Professional. Friendly. Genuine. Less than a week after I got my engagement ring sized by another jeweler, I had a bride-to-be's nightmare: a diamond had popped out! I was devastated, convinced it was my fault, and found Serjeo's business through Yelp to get it repaired. First off, he is such a wonderful guy. He not only was genuinely interested in my story, but he was able to clearly explain why the diamond fell out in the first place. When the last jeweler resized it, he didn't tighten the prongs around the stones -- so when Serjeo touched the larger diamond, it moved! (And I wanted to throw up). He replaced the missing diamond and fixed the rest of them. Honestly, my ring repaired by Serjeo looks better than it did in the box! I had to wait a week for an appointment, but it was worth it -- I had my ring back on my hand in two days! And it cost much less than I anticipated. I needed to have my engagement ring resized and, after scouring Yelp reviews, called to make an appointment with Serjeo. His shop is easily accessible in Downtown Boston in the Jewelry District. His employees are warm and provided great service and the space itself was comfortable and clean. Serjeo is exceptionally kind and patient, even sitting through a phone call with my fiancé as he could not be there to have the work explained. He measured my finger several times to find the best fit and shaped the band to perfectly fit my finger. I was even able to watch him do the work, which only took about 45 minutes. I brought my engagement ring (my mom's), my wedding band (new), and my great grandmother's wedding band in to be resized. I was a little nervous because we only had a couple weeks til our wedding and two of the rings were irreplaceable due to sentimental value. Serjeo was fantastic!! Outstanding service! My wedding band was badly beaten after 4 years of abuse and I decided it was time to fix it. I happened to be downtown and decided to drop in. The fantastic receptionist informed me I would have to schedule an appointment to meet with Serjeo. At first I was a little hesitant but she assured me that my ring would be easily fixed. So I arrived at the appointment and had an amazing experience with Serjeo. He was very easy going and an excellent listener. He asked me what I did for work and he soon understood why the ring was in tough shape. He told me that he would apply a new brushed finish to the white gold ring and fix the inscription for free! Again I was slightly hesitant but when my wife went to pick it up it was no charge. I would highly recommend Serjeo and I know I will be back for something really nice for my wife in the future. He is a true artist, and clearly loves his work. Serjeo may be hard to get an appointment at first but he is well worth it. (also, once you are a customer, it's way easier to get appointments) Serjeo worked with my fiancee and I to build the perfect wedding bands. He was very flexible with our price range and gave us lots of time and information to be sure we got what we wanted. So far, we have only gotten my fiancees wedding band which he is very fond of. And mine is on hold until we have more time to design what I really want and, frankly, save up for what I really want. Serjeo has been very understanding and did not try to sell us anything he knew we didn't want. As a seasoned customer, I can have my engagement ring sized, cleaned, and repaired essentially for free. I want to thank Serjeo for putting me at ease with his great craftsmanship! I was very skeptical about bringing my rings to a local jeweler because the type of ring I have is very difficult to size according to a couple of other jewelry repair stores I brought it to. I've been wearing my great-grandmother's wedding band on my right hand for about ten years. It's very small and delicate, so I was heartbroken when I damaged it a while back when I jammed my finger in a door (it was painful, but the misshapen ring was the worst part). I found Serjeo on Yelp and he was able to repair the ring for a very fair price and in only two days. His shop is bright, modern and clean (unlike some of the other shops in the Jeweler's Building). I have a feeling this review will never make it to the actual homepage for Serjeo, but after our experience and expecting the 5-star service I read about on all the other reviews, I feel obligated to tell our story. The two stars here are earned for Serjeo being, for the most part, a very nice guy with a very nice office. I'm also glad we had rings that fit for our wedding day, but my satisfaction truly ends there. Each time we were quoted an amount of time for our job (white gold wedding bands. Mine was to fit the curvature of my family heirloom engagement ring.) it took longer than expected. I left my engagement ring in the office first for 5 days, and then again for nearly 3 weeks for Serjeo to make the mold to create my band. In late April, my husband stopped in to pick up his band to find it was at least a size too small. I called the week before our wedding to ask when we might expect the job to be finished (at this point my engagement ring had been there for over a week) and was told we could pick everything up 3 days before the wedding. Eek. Made me nervous, but I was told it was to make sure everything was "sparkling and shining for our wedding day." I picked up our rings, and the office manager (more on her soon) presented our rings to us. Unfortunately, she did not understand how the band was to fit against my ring, so she had to get Serjeo. He, too, had a hard time figuring it out but finally did with the explanation that "there are so many curves." When I brought my husband's wedding band to him to try on, we panicked when we realized it was still too small.. the same size it had been 2 months ago when he visited the first time. Further, when looking closer at my band, it did not sit against my engagement ring. The curves didn't match. When I looked at the invoice, we were mortified to see someone else's name on the order. We were certain we had someone else's bands, but sadly we weren't surprised. In the beginning, our $500 deposit was originally applied to another customer's account. Carolina, the office manager, was supposed to call us to give us our final total due, which she never did. Imagine my surprise when I called back, again, asking for the total and she said it was the full balance; they never received our deposit. (It had been cashed the day prior) While this was sorted out a few days later, I started to lose faith in this business (and was honest about my feelings!) and was assured this wasn't normal for them. Fast Forward to two days before our wedding and neither of our rings were what we'd asked for; We emailed and called immediately when the shop opened, and Carolina said they "couldn't fit us in" until 3pm that day. After further explanation of the timeline we were working with, my husband was able to go in with our rings (and change our pre-wedding plans with friends and family) to get them fixed. Serjeo's response to my wedding band not fitting against my engagement ring was: "If I'd known you wanted precision, I would have charged you significantly more." A much different story we were told when he was making his sales pitch. At any rate, Serjeo did fix my husband's ring immediately to the size he needed, and then took 10 minutes to fix the curvature of my band. Now it sits closer to my ring, but still not as precise as I'd like... apparently precision comes at a higher price. Now, I continue to be confused at how quickly these fixes were made that afternoon. My husband was in and out within 20 minutes... so why did it take two separate lengths of time, holding my engagement ring, to make something that took 10 minutes? Especially since we hadn't "ordered" the "precision". I imagine a mold was never made for my wedding band, as originally promised. An apology wasn't offered, a credit never applied, and Carolina's excuse for our invoice with someone else's name on it is that she'd accidentally printed their template. Now I have another customer's personal contact information and order. The smoke and mirrors you find at Serjeo may lead you to believe all these 5-star reviews are the experience you'll have, but with Carolina's poor customer service and less-than-basic understanding of office management coupled with the fact we are now wearing wedding bands that remind us of the frustration dealt with leading up to our wedding should lead you to bring your business elsewhere. Serjeo is my new favorite person in Boston. If I won the lottery, I would buy everyone I could a diamond ring just so I could shop in his studio more often. Less than a week ago, I got engaged. Hooray! Very exciting. Even more exciting was the honor of being given my fiance's (that still feels weird ...) grandmother's exquisite sapphire ring. It was like getting gum from Jill Goodacre in a darkened ATM vestibule. Three days later, I was staring at it (as you do) and something seemed off. The stone was catching the light in a weird way. Like jello. Like it was ... moving. My stomach dropped. I immediately took the ring off (what if fast and furious typing sent it flying!?) and hit Yelp. Well huh. Seems Boston has a lot of great jewelers. Crap. I clicked through a few, read through the reviews, but none really grabbed me until I got to Serjeo. Page upon page of glowing reports spanning the past 5 years. One even mentioned what I suspected my problem was-- a resize gone awry. That reviewer described how Serjeo sat her down and explained the mechanics of what had gone wrong and was able to return her ring within short order looking better than ever. I called the next morning and made an appointment for this afternoon. It had only been four days since I'd put this ring on and I already couldn't stand to be without it for long but I sure as hell wasn't walking around with this clinking timebomb of sentimentality on my hand. I needed to get it in right away because I figured it would be a few days until I'd pick it up anyway. Which is why, when filling out the paperwork, I impetuously wrote "as soon as possible :(" on the line asking when I needed the work done. Yes, sad face and all. Soon after, I sat down with Serjeo and he looked at my ring and told me that it was indeed the original stone in the original setting (which I knew, but it was still really cool to hear him say it just from looking at it). He asked how long we'd been together and when I explained our convoluted dating history, he shook his head and said "Only engaged on Sunday after that long? I'm going to do this for you right now." Ten minutes later and for much, much less than I was anticipating, I was shaking Serjeo's hand and promising him I'd be back with my fiance (yep, still weird) soon to talk wedding bands. Bottom line: If you've ever been in the jeweler's exchange building in Downtown Crossing, you know it's filled with an overwhelming array of shops and studios. Walk right by them, go all the way to the end of the 5th floor (if you enter from 333 Washington St, as he's actually closer to the rear entrance on Province St) and talk to Serjeo. But maybe call ahead first. He's pretty popular. read more

I needed to resize a ring and looked online for recommendations. A lot of people in the Boston area were recommending Serjeo and I'm so glad I went! He fit me in during a very busy time and was so kind and friendly. We ended up chatting a bit about travel as well. He took me back into his shop so I could watch him resize the ring, and he had me try it on during the resizing process, which was great because we realized it still needed more adjustments. He was done within 30 mins, only $25 for a simple resize (1/4 size smaller, 14k gold, solitaire ring). He even gave me a complimentary jewelry cleaning kit. I also asked him about a family heirloom ring I've been meaning to get fixed (lost a stone) and he offered to do it for a great price.
