    1 Chicken Satay

I was soooo hungry, pics are NOT the best bc I had already started eating. The basil chow mein was the absolute best thing I tried, and I forgot to take a picture of it! The crab wontons were perfect. Just the right amount of filling, fried to perfection, and delicious sauce. The chicken satay was also fantastic. Not thick, chunky chicken, but thinly sliced pieces grilled perfectly. The pad Thai was not my favorite. It wasn't spicy at all, and the sauce was sweeter than I'm used to. It was still good, and we ate the whole plate, but if I'm ever in the area again I'll get the spicy basil chow mein again!

I grew up coming here Sundays after church but just visited after 13 years. It feels like nostalgia being back. We enjoyed satay, spicy pad thai, regular pad Thai, and the special curry fried rice. The satay could've been bigger, the chicken was small. The spicy pad Thai was definitely spicy and tasted like a Chinese noodle. The regular pad Thai was way too sweet. The curry rice was good! I really miss when Arawan had Tod mun pla fish cakes. They were my favorite. Service was good. Inside was clean and busy.

Quick and sufficient service! I appreciate the option of #9 Can't Decide for $13 when you literally can't decide what appetizer to get so you pick any three from the appetizers menu. Can't Decide, $13: satay chicken, veggies egg rolls, and veggies spring rolls. The satay chicken comes with 3 dipping sauces: fresh diced cucumber and red onion was too sweet for me, I didn't care for the sweet chili sauce because I know it comes from a bottle, the yellow curry with diced garlic or peanut I can't recall exactly now was actually paired very well with the satay chicken and veggies spring rolls. The fried veggies egg rolls were a bit salty for my preference. Papaya Salad, $12: the dressing sauce was a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. All ingredients were fresh and crunchy with each bite. The spicy level came with it was just right I'm the middle of the scale. If you want more than average heat, ask for extra spicy. This was actually the first Thai restaurant I went for a while that didn't ask me for my spicy level. Thai Iced Coffee, small 16oz, $4.50: tasted just right with no overly sweetness. Clean and casual dinning ambience area conveniently located on a busy plaza SE of 82nd Ave and Overland Street, in the same parking area as Best Buy and Home Depot.

Amazing service! Staff was so friendly and helpful -- the food was great too! We had the potstickers (SO GOOD), the arawan fried rice (add beef), and the mixed vegetable stir fry (add chicken). All the food was hot and delicious and can't praise the service enough! We will definitely be back!

Another amazing lunch. Our server was Danny, he was very pleasant and attentive. All staff are very enjoyable. Very clean.

This is our favorite Thai restaurant and the place we keep in mind when comparing all other Thai food. Specifically Pad Thai. We try the pad Thai at most Thai restaurants we go to. Arawan does a great job of having a harmony between the sweet, spicy, and savory flavors. This is true regardless of the type of protein. We've tried curries, fried rices, various noodle dishes, soups, and a number of appetizers, and have never had a complaint! And as you can see in the picture our 2 year old agrees! Pad Thai was amazing, chicken satay, and salad rolls were fresh, fabulous, and both came with amazing sauces. Which brings us to something that we haven't found a comparable restaurant... The peanut sauce!!! Best peanut sauce we have found so far!

Had the Thai papaya salad, the 5 chicken wings, green curry w/rice, and pad ki mao. The green curry and pad ki mao were both good, the chicken wings were breaded and fried to have a nice crunch, and the papaya salad was really refreshing. We went Sunday during the lunch rush and although they were busy, we were lucky and seated within 15 mins. The server was both friendly and attentive, and we received our food pretty timely given how busy they were. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised as I'm picky with my Thai food. Keep in mind that they are a smaller establishment, so please call ahead if you're planning on dining with a large party or just order takeout.

Their fried rice is the best! They also have large portions which is great because you can get multiple meals out of one serving.

I got the white curry with burnt ends, and it was delicious. The curry is not thin but not as thick as I expected. This is a very salty dish though and I found myself eating most of the rice which I don't normally do. I found myself wishing there were more cauliflower to offset the salt. Will come back to try the other curry / bbq dishes. My friend did say that the fried rice was too rich for him which I can imagine.

We came right before the dinner rush, so seating was available right away for our party of 3. Dishes we ordered was the Very Spicy Papaya Salad, White Curry w/Brisket Burnt ends, Massaman Curry w/ Smoked Lamb Shoulder, and the Roasted Mushroom Fried Rice. The salad was too spicy for me that my mouth was on fire, but those in my party who can tolerate spice enjoyed it. The curries were on the saltier side, but it definitely had the smokiness from the bbq, giving it more depth which I can see why it works so well with all the Thai flavors. If I were to choose one over the other, I would go with the Massaman Curry because the lamb was super tender and the sauce had so much more flavor than the white curry in my opinion. I can't remember the name of my cocktail, but it was a wonderful tropical and refreshing drink. Portions are a bit on the smaller side for the price point, but definitely worth trying. Will be back again!

How do I know about this restaurant?…read more For a very brief period of time, I decided to DoorDash... on a bicycle. It was very brief, due to the fact that Portland's hills are... well, I'm in a good shape, but I won't be in the Tour De France. A side benefit is that I learned where a lot of good food in Portland resides: Thai Peacock and Little Peacock made up a fair amount of my orders. How much do I like Thai? So much that I learned to make it myself, and I make a better than average Pad See Ew/Kee Mao... So when it came time for a lunch break, well, I couldn't wait to order from Thai Peacock. I got the Pad Ka Phrao (there was not an option for super hot / Thai hot... my one complaint about their system... more on that in a minute)... and started walking. It was easy to pick up, well labeled, and hot when I arrived. The reusable bowl (for the paper bag crowd who are taking notes.. this is Portland ya know)... was full of delicious meat and vegetables. The rice was packed separately, along with the single serving of added sriracha. The serving was more than generous, and good in its preparation. There are some caveats here: Thai Peacock does not make their dishes in the same way that many other Thai restaurants do... they do it with minimal ingredients, hoping you'll add on vegetables. It gets annoying when you're looking at ordering pad se ew, and you might otherwise get a similar dish for $7-$10 cheaper. The lack of an ability to add additional heat is also unwelcome. However, I understand that each Thai restaurant has its own way of making a specific dish. The generous portions make the bare bones dish a good value, if not the best representation of the dish I've had. This would be 5* for a group meal (no shortage of options, and consistent service), and 4* based on comparison to other Thai dishes at similar price points I've had. 5* here based on what most people would likely say. An extremely reliable restaurant with tasty food and generous portions deserves it.
