I get the salt and pepper wings every time!! It's consistently crispy and the sauce it comes with has a kick. The rice could be better but that's not a deal breaker. I do wish they were more transparent with their pricing. The menu on the cart has prices for vegetable ($14), chicken, beef or tofu ($16), and shrimp ($19). Most recent visit I called in to place a to-go order and asked for a side of lao sausage. I was charged $17 for the lao sausage but didn't think much of it until I got home and opened the box and found that there were only two lao sausages in the container - for $17!? I looked on DoorDash and it showed $16.5 for two pieces of lao sausage with steam rice, steamed veggie, and side jeow som. The person that took my order over the phone did ask if I wanted rice with my side of lao sausage and I said no but if you're gonna charge $17 at least include the steamed veggie and side jeow som?? I reached out for clarification and they said he had pushed the wrong button and informed me that their side of lao sausage is $10 and sticky rice was $6 (not sure why they had to add in the price of the sticky rice as I only questioned the lao sausage and they did charge me $6 for the sticky rice). They went on to say that "it's always cheaper when ordered as a meal, but I'll go ahead and refund you the $7" like they were doing me a favor when I was the one that was overcharged.. Also not sure if I believe that he pushed the wrong button because my partner recognized the guy and said that he has been at the cart for awhile and should not be making those kinds of mistakes.. read more

The item I ordered said it would be $16 on the sign but the guy charged me $17. Whatever, wasn't going to argue over a dollar, but not cool to advertise a different price, I believe that's called a bait and switch. Then it took almost a half hour to get my food. If it's going to be that long to get one dish from a food cart, you should give the person a heads up when they are ordering. The food itself was ok, but the service was severely lacking. Edit: I guess lemongrass chicken is a "specialty" item now? Seems like a pretty standard dish to me. Regardless, if the lemongrass "specialty" chicken is $17, then just say that on the sign. And it was not 20 minutes to get my food, I checked on it at the 20 minute mark and still had to wait at least another 5 minutes after that. I don't have a problem with the time, but you should say it will take that long when the order is placed, especially when the order is just a single item. read more

I've been a customer for years and don't generally do reviews, but the folks that run this cart are wonderful. The food is always delicious and they go out of their way to make sure that you have a great meal and a good chat at the counter. I consider their cart a staple of the neighborhood. Check them out. The portions are large and the food is generally amazing, wish it were open regularly but when it is I try an pick it up! The food here is mouth-watering!! I cannot get over the Lao papaya salad here. The beef jerky, both Lao and Thai, are very tasty, they can be chewy but that's jerky. The chicken wings are to crave for! I don't know of a cart around the area or in Portland that has comparable wings and papaya salad. I am very picky about my papaya salad and this place doesn't miss. This cart has great hours for lunch and they're even open late for dinner. Anytime they give you a time estimate they're right on time. I recommend this place for anyone looking for their next Lao/Thai food adventure. It's a must try. read more

I bought the cucumber salad, salt pepper shrimp, pork egg rolls, pad Thai and beef Larb. If you're American I can see why you think the food is good but from an Asian perspective this food is watered down to its core. Pork egg rolls was blend almost no flavor until you eat it with the dipping sauce. Salt and pepper shrimp should be called salty shrimp cause that's all you tasted was pure salt. The only thing that was semi enjoyable was the cumber salad. It had a little sour to it but had good flavors. The most important dish was the larb and boy did they really drop the ball. Looked great but there was little to no seasoning. For a place to have this on the menu and don't even have mint/ lime or rice powder in the dish is criminal. The worst larb configuration I've ever had. If you like boiled beef seasoned in its own juice and salt with a heavy slap of red onions then this is for you. read more

Friendly, hard-working couple that make the best lao-thai food I've had in SE. Heavy on fish sauce. Spicy and flavorful. Popcorn chicken, salt and pepper shrimp and nam khao are my favorites. Beats the heck out of some of the local thai places that do an okay job but taste on the bland side, almost "American" thai. I do think they ought to add a bit more seasoning on the pineapple fried rice. Not enough salt. Doesn't really taste like much unless you add some. . read more

We order their food once a week their food is that damn good. If you're looking for flavor or spice, you've got to give them a try. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The serving sizes are the most generous of any Thai place I've ever been too. The Pad Thai is top notch, and worth going just for that. They charge extra for any protein (including tofu), so be prepared for a $1-$3 price bump to add meat. The red curry was WAY too salty, so much so that it was inedible, even after mixing it with all the rice that came with it. Prices are cheaper if you call or order in person rather than going through grub hub online. I'll be back again for the Pad Thai. read more

Food was pretty basic. Ordered Mongolian beef ($18) which came with 5 thinly sliced seasoned beef strips, steamed veggies and a cup of rice. It definitely lacked flavor and portion was extremely small for the price. Also, ordered popcorn chicken and it reminded me of something you could get from a Chinese food stall at the mall. The popcorn chicken ($15) does come loaded with plenty of rice but could have used a side veggie to complement it. Not impressed so far. This place is awesome. So many food options, I haven't tried them all but I doubt any one of them would drop my rating. The dude and his wife are super friendly and you can taste the love and passion they put into their food with every bite you take. I've also seen them help out people in need with free meals, so not only are they a business but they are involved and invested in the community they serve. I must also mention that whatever they do to the rice they serve, it's always just as good the next day (the portions are so large I always have leftovers) which is something I've never experienced from a restaurant before. Worth the drive and had some of the most authentic Laos food and from a food truck!? I have become a regular here because every dish I've had is fresh and delicious, and the owners are friendly, good people, who will work with you to make sure you order something you like. My favorite right now is the Salt and Pepper Tofu. When I was considering ordering that, I was concerned about including some veggies, so they substituted steamed vegetables for the rice for me and the combination was exactly what I wanted.
