This is the only spot in the area that I can find Farmer's cheese, yogurt drinks, & cheese cake bars that remind me of a Hungarian dessert my father would always give me when I was a child.

I remember really liking it, but for some reason we hadn't been back in a while. This week my husband couldn't stop talking about wanting an Italian sub, and Frumento's immediately came to mind. We drove down and ordered the '58 Classic and another tuna sub, both as combos. The sides absolutely stole the show. The purple cabbage was so good, the coleslaw wasn't my personal favorite but my husband loved it, the four bean salad was absolutely mouthwatering, and the marinated mushrooms were also delicious. I'm genuinely so glad we have leftovers for tomorrow because I'll definitely be thinking about that bean salad again. We'll absolutely be back!

You can make any of their sandwiches into a combo plate for $3 more you get 2 sides (Mombo Meal). Their sides were good but not amazing, personally will be sticking to just their sandwiches. JALAPENO STACK -sooo good! Roast beef, turkey breast and Italian dry salami paired well together. Avocado added perfect creaminess. Their Cheesy Jalapeno Snack Bread is amazing, top had just the right amount of crisp from being toasted. FRUMENTO'S GRILLED PHILLY -opted for half roast beef and half smoked turkey breast and it was just what I needed. Solid hot sandwich. TASTE OF ITALY -a classic cold cut sandwich, it was good but their hot sandwiches were much better. Desserts were a hit or miss here. Tried the Strawberry Cheese cake and that was really good- creamy, airy and not too sweet. Tiramisu was a bust- mainly vanilla cake, bit too sweet, no espresso flavor, cream didn't have any mascarpone cheese flavor at all.

Good food and the workers are chill. Owner is great too…read more My experience today: I was the second person in when 4 people walked in at approximately 11:33 am. I work a couple minutes away so the drive there is quick which is perfect for my 30 minute lunch break. I tend to either order my food ahead of time so it can be ready and I just pick it up and go or I drive somewhere where I know it's quick and easy because they're not busy or because they have specials ready to pick up. Anyways, After we (the 4 people) walked in ....no one else came in, so it wasn't crazy with a line. I usually come in and get the 2 slice special. Wait is usually nonexistent since the slices are literally ready to put in a box. I was helped by another guy today (black beard, black shirt ) and felt there was no urgency from him during the " lunch hour". The pace was the same if there were 100 people or 1 of us. He took my order I sat down, he helped someone else then someone else then he shuffled some papers and got distracted by a little girl yelling across the street while waiting at the bus stop, then he headed to the back to do whatever and then came back out and answered the phone which is when I walked up and asked for a refund. I waited for a min and he noticed me then started getting the box ready for my slices and I told him to just give me a refund. He asked another guy to come over and he returned my funds back to my card and I kept the receipt and he apologized. I attached the receipt to show the time when I finally walked out 11:43 am 10 minutes after my order for two slices ready to go only a step away from the cashier. I never even got the soda cup to sip on while I waited. I may or may not return. If I do return and I see the gentleman in the black shirt that helped me today I'll just walk out. Most likely I won't be returning off this ONE experience. Do I recommend the food ? Yes Is the staff nice and attentive? Yes, Most of them Make what you want with this review but this was my experience today. I would've put this at a 4/5 review based of my past experiences but today made me drop it to 3/5. Hope this restaurant does well. I know it's hard for businesses to exist with the current economy which would make you think people should be thankful for their jobs and their income. Put a smile on, talk to the people coming in and put a little pep to your step when the lunch hour starts. Best of luck Tony's Italian delicatessen

Buy at night, I'm not so sure I'd take my mother-in-law there. We ordered 1 Chicken Sandwich 2 Chili dogs with cheese 1 Chili fry 1 Soda for a total of $38.51 (cash) My first mistake; not taking a photo of the current 'Menu' board; it is different from what's shown here; it has been updated. However, there is a 'Grilled Chicken Sandwich' on the menu board that is not offered... instead, they offer a tiny fried; breaded, processed chicken disk patty, sandwich - honestly, not worth buying... stick to the chili burgers or chili dogs. My honest opinion on this is, they should simply remove the chicken sandwich altogether - it is of no real value to the customer. The Chili, however, is this places Strong Point -- thick to that, and they'd do well. Chili dogs are good; a decent, long, slightly snappy dog on a regular small bun, but lightly smothered with a decent portion of chili; not too messy and easy to eat. The Chili Fries were also good; not great but good. The portion if generous but the fries quickly turned soft before I could plow into them. I do like some crispy fries with my Chili. But the flavor was good. I can't make a recommendation on this until I try another batch of chili fries. If, however, the fries remain soaked and soft, then I'd probably pass them up but just buy straight fries instead -- I hate soft soggy fries. As for the soda; a large is an OK size. I cannot say if they offer a refill; I did not go back to ask for one. But I'd hope a refill is available for the price. Pastrami: I got to taste a sample of the Pastrami, and it is really good. Here is where Chroni's could kick it up a notch; Chroni's does not have Bacon - Huge Disappointment and Missed Opportunity. With the Pastrami, and with Bacon, they could add one more menu Item that I know for a fact would sell: The Monster Burger - it is simply this: Bacon Cheeseburger with Pastrami, Chili, Onions & Pickles, and mustard. If they'd add this to their menu, I'd be back for sure. Just saying; something for Chroni's to think about. Get rid of the chicken, add the bacon. Seating: Oh, yeah; seating; Lots of outdoor seating... we were there on a Sunday and there were plenty of open tables. Parking: Lots of Parking too... for most parts or time, parking should not be an issue as I had thought. I nearly parked 3 blocks away when I saw the parking on the street; not knowing Chroni's had its own parking. But then discovered, they had plenty. I cannot say anything about restrooms; I didn't need to go nor looked to see if they had restrooms. My take-away for Chroni's is this; it is a throw-back to a early time when Snack Shack foods was a regular thing in L.A.; a nostalgic place with Lots of Promise and Potential. Pricing is a sign of the times; a bit high for me but it is what it is, but the staff are friendly & nice. My hope for Chroni's would be to focus on promotions & higher sales volume with an emphasis toward lowering prices as demand begins to grow once again. By minimizing the menus and just focusing on turning Chroni's back into High Quality Chili & Chili Burger Shack will definitely help increase sales once prices come down a bit. And if done right, there will still be lots of opportunity to turn a nice protfit. 5 Stars for Friendly & Nice Service 2 Stars on the Chicken & Soft/Soggy Fries 4 Stars for Seating 4 Stars for Parking 3 Stars for Cleanliness/Outdoor Dining/Restrooms (???) and bus bench/streetside characters. And, 5 Stars for Potential Overall - 3.5 Stars for now.

It is good. It is the same price at the beef version but understandly so. The chicken meat was grilled tenderly, and the slice of ham it came with added the saltynesss the sandwich needed. Simple but effective. Also chilies adds great flavor too. You can ask for it on the side to adjust spiciness to your preference. Capicollo, one of the cold sandwich, was fine but nothing to write home about. Atlas or wings ($11.99/lb) here remind me of the ones I used to get when I was younger... I like how the spicy version is still deed fried and not saucy. (Personally prefer dry rubs.) The heat can creep up to u after a few. But not all wings are created equally, might end with with some tiny more battered ones along with regulars. Wait times can be longer during lunch times - waited 30 min for takeout during weekday lunch hour.

There's already food that is fried and ready to go when you come up to the counter apparently there's a process that it's lost on me. So I just went my own way and got in line, picked what I wanted and then paid, found a table that is first-come-first-served basis. Easy peasey. Got some cheese empanadas, chicken wings & French fries. What do that to me was the cheese and vanilla, very cheesy and savory! The fries on the other hand felt like that they were sitting there a bit, and I love fries so these kinda were a meh for me. It looks like a small cafeteria set up with the lunch lady at the counter, No muss, no fuss. Pretty good experience coz it was spent with Hubby and a very good friend. Parking is free & shared with other businesses in this plaza.

So it's quite the coup that I finally made it on over to the Heights DABS! A slice of that 18 inch pie is on the brain today as I skip up the mini-staircase into the joint. Having just come from another not-to-be-named Pizza spot in the DTLA to NELA corridor, my hangdog face belies my energetic hoppin-pep-in-the-step into Heights, shaking off a droopy and disappointingly dry slice amidst the brain-bleeding profanity laced hate-punk screaming over that joint's speakers as I sized up the Margherita I always use as an avatar to benchmark how we dooooin' in the pizza quality and taste department no matter where I go. I confess I've been captured and SPOILED by love affairs with Greek Pizza in Boston, Deep Dish in Chicago, NYC greezy gooey goodness at 3am, and of course the ultimate seduction of sublime simplicity of the Neapolitan Pizzas of Napoli. Yes, I am a sucker for the traditional brick oven Margheritas and Bufalinas of Italia, just that simple barometer of OG greatness, minimalistic bliss. Less than 5 bucks and 10 min later, I'm ambling down said teeny stairs with a large warm white cardboard box that seems far too large for a mere SLICE. Have they made a packaging error? I was expecting a small thin wilty Dixie plate! These days, we don't wanna waste cardboard, do we? Driving off, I contemplate a spot to pull over along the Arroyo Seco to enjoy my dining behind the wheel. I just can't hold in my wondering, patience is definitely NOT a virtue when curiosity is just killing this Jazz Cat. A quick stop at a red light later, I can't hold it in any longer. FLIP. UP. THAT. LID! Daaaaaaammmnnnn! That is one MONSTROUS slice, as I slyly smile in astonishment! But my sly smile slowly segues to sadness, then semi-panicked confusion, disorientation, even! For THIS is not the Margherita one familiarly recognizes as the artistic minimalistic masterpiece a proper Neapolitan Margherita MUST BE! I am starting to get anxious, angsty, and now a bit ANGRY! what a fool I was! Instead I am misled into chow down mode to consume a Godzilla-sized molten mess of mossy dry basil haphazardly strewn about to and fro across the pie, resembling katsuo bonito flakes dancing around in the disarray of their differential dehydration! Inexplicably, jagged rows of somewhat square Roma tomatoes are lined up in lazy formations like a disorganized military company. What's more, the gooey globs of mozzarella are NOT expertly anchored down to the bed of cheese below, supposed to cling to the pie while providing just enough protruding relief like an old globe map with a mountain range rising above the horizon. Nope, they are instead here and there and almost everywhere, seemingly untethered to the matrix of cheese below, chaotically floating around like slightly rectangular glops of pale possible goodness?!!? JT, hold it together, you must attack this mess while it's still hot. Beep Beep! THE LIGHT HAS TURNED GREEN MANY SECONDS AGO! Get thee to the Arroyo! Minutes later, I'm at my perch. I bite into the unruly beast. I am pleasantly greeted by a most satisfying CRUNCH! Then a chewy tug-tremendous! Then the mass of basil flakiness flying through my mouth and down the hatch, chased by those deeeelish misshapen untethered white cubes o' cheesiness charging down my throat aside tons of tumbling tomatoes! It's an absolute avalanche of WOW! It's like there's a party in my mouth, and the most unlikely heroes showed up and showed out! Let's add the Unconventional Neapolitanical Pizzas of Lincoln Heights to the Lovefest List! Heights DABS, you've made my day. On to meet up with long lost friends converging in HP from nearby points dearly loved, I'm feelin' GRRRREEEEAT! DONE.
