So very disappointed. Not only have I been eating here for decades, but continued to order from here pretty regularly... until they continuously messed up our order. The last 3 times they've at least attempted to rectify their mistake... meaning we had to make a 2nd trip to pick-up whatever it was they forgot. So we took a break... sad because we always enjoy the food. Foolishly, we decided to try again... and again they messed up our order... this time they didn't put chicken on our pasta. It seems whoever took the order didn't write it down... wish I could say this was a big surprise! So we were fully willing to pay the difference and make the 2nd trip once again. But because it was near closing that was not made an option... just a sorry and goodbye. So now... after 6pm on Sunday, we are thinking of what 2nd meal we will have to purchase and pick up.... because this plain pasta is just not going to feed the 2 of us. We have so few options already in Montebello and we always prefer to support local small businesses.... but REALLY??? How do you consistently get it wrong??? Definitely coming back! I was in the area for a surgery for a family member and it was going to be a while so I walked to this deli. Saw the reviews and had been recommended to check it out so I finally went. Safe to say I was satisfied. Good amount of food for what you pay. Fresh and tasty. They have some seating area inside. I walked but it seems like they have parking in the back because people were entering through the back door. I ordered the Mombo plate which is a choice of sub and 2 sides. For sub I ordered THE 58 CLASSIC and as sides I had their Garlic Pesto Potato Salad and Purple Cabbage. Both good but very garlic centered, I love garlic so I don't mind but maybe next time I'll get something else to balance it better. Service was good. My family and I love the sandwiches and sides at Frumento's. I noticed they had catering options and decided to try it out for a recent party we hosted. We ordered the cheese ravioli and chicken parmesan. The ravioli was good, but several people commented that the chicken wasn't very good. It's dinner time, we both worked today, and neither of us wanted to drive anywhere, so DoorDash it was. We decided to give Frumento's Italian Deli a try. I ordered the 1958 Italian Classic Combination. The bread was nice and soft, and overall it was a really good sandwich. You get your choice of two sides, so I went with the marinated mushrooms and marinated artichokes. Both were decent, but I felt like they were missing a little something. Next time, I'd probably try a couple of the other side options. My girlfriend ordered the lasagna with meat sauce combo, which came with a side salad and garlic bread. She really liked the salad. The lasagna had a slightly sweet taste to it, which isn't really my thing, but it was still good. Overall, Frumento's was a solid dinner choice, especially when you want some Italian comfort food delivered to the house. There is a homey atmosphere that made me feel so welcomed and cozy, the staff is FRIENDLY, Gave me awesome recommendations and basically walked me through their favorites. I first tried Frumento's Italian Market & Deli a few years ago while I was pregnant and ordered a tuna sub with the classic mac salad and potato salad. I remember really liking it, but for some reason we hadn't been back in a while. This week my husband couldn't stop talking about wanting an Italian sub, and Frumento's immediately came to mind. We drove down and ordered the '58 Classic and another tuna sub, both as combos. The sides absolutely stole the show. The purple cabbage was so good, the coleslaw wasn't my personal favorite but my husband loved it, the four bean salad was absolutely mouthwatering, and the marinated mushrooms were also delicious. What We Ordered: -The '58 Italian Classic (6") $10.25 -The Big Goomba (12") $20.95 There aren't many mom-and-pop Italian-American delis left in the San Gabriel Valley, but this classic joint, serving the community since 1958, offers some great Italian-American food. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and deliciousness. It's truly a hidden gem in Montebello. You can choose a 6" Torpedo, 12" Italian Sub, or a 30" Destroyer. I ordered The Big Goomba (12"), which is made up of Capocolo, hard salami, mortadella, prosciutto, provolone cheese, lettuce, pepperoncini, red onion, vinegar/oil dressing, and muffaletta mix. You can choose mild or spicy muffaletta mix. If you want to make any 6" or 12" a Mombo plate, it costs only $3 to add two sides. There are 14 sides to choose from. I asked the staff for recommendations and they suggested pasta salad or antipasto. I went with the Garlic Pesto Potato Salad and Pasta Salad, and they were both superb. The Big Goomba was the way to go, especially with extra hots. My wife thought the flavor was a bit sour due to the balsamic vinegar, but I really enjoyed the healthy portion of spicy muffaletta. We ordered The '58 Italian Classic (6") for my son without the oil and fixings, as we wanted to keep it for the next day. The '58 Italian Classic is made up of Mortadella, Imported Ham, Cotto Salami, and Provolone Cheese. Our son gave it a thumbs up, as it still tasted great the next day. We also got a variety of Torrone flavors (classic, vanilla, and orange) for $.75 each. They all tasted great! I always grab Torrone at an Italian Deli. We are part of a committee through which we have had sandwiches from Frumentos Italian Deli on several occasions. I had always enjoyed the sandwiches, and wanted to visit them in person! Finally we had an opportunity to stop by. JJ and I split the Italian Club Sandwich, which included smoked ham, turkey breast & Italian bacon with mayo, lettuce, Roma tomato and pepperoncini. We opted to go with the Mombo Plate, which allows you to choose 2 deli salads with any sub (6 or 12 inch) for an additional $3. We selected the potato salad and the cucumber salad. The deli salads are really small. We did not really care for the potato salad, but it was okay and I ate it. The cucumber salad was really good and refreshing. As for the sandwich itself, it was on the dry side and overall was not as good as I had remembered it to be from our meetings. When you enter the deli, you stand in line and place your order at the counter. Service was very good and friendly. You can also dine in, and ambience is very nice and cheerful. The juices soaked up in the bread pretty quickly, so it got a little messy but definitely worth it. The personal pizza I got the Meatza pizza. Great meat, cooked firm to hold everything together. Oh my goodness!! This place is just simply, Delicious. My girl and I were in the mood for some bomb old school subs. I used to live up the street from this deli for years and never had the chance to make it in, but had heard good things over the years. So when we saw it on our yelp search we both agreed to try Frumento's! Nothing crazy, but for sure a steady flow of people coming and going. We bought (3) 6" sandwiches, a slice of Limoncello cake and butter toffee cashews. I got the Chicken Parmo sandwich, it was super yummy! Fresh homemade tomato sauce on a soft fresh roll, perfectly toasted with fresh Mozz and a juicy piece of chicken breast, hot and fresh out the kitchen. The aroma of the deli is what made me jump into grabbing this, and I'm so happy I trusted my nose. It's been over 15 years since I've had a Chicken Parm that blew me away, this one was a solid 9/10. My girl got herself a Turkey Italiano which she expressed too that it was deliciously fresh. The meats, the veggies and the mayo ratio were all on point on that soft fresh roll. Same with the Hot Chicken Club Sandwich we got for her daughter, she said that it was all fresh and tasty, the only thing she would have done differently was asked for without tomatoes because it made the bread just a little soggy but overall the food was delicious. The Limoncello was yummy, soft airy and not too sweet. Perfect amount of lemon juice flavor bursting in your mouth with a smooth cream and soft moist bread, 8/10!
