Chicken Breast Sandwich, Fries, Onion Rings
Christina P.

This is actually interesting for me to write because I've been coming here since I was a teenager, and I'm surprised I've never left a review before. What can I say? I love Arrys. It's one of those classic local burger spots that everyone in the neighborhood knows and goes to, and yes, they know me by name. My go-to order is always the chicken breast sandwich with cheese and fries. The onion rings are definitely a plus too. Honestly, everything is pretty good here. There have only been a couple of times when the unsweetened iced tea tasted a little off, but for the most part, it's always solid. One thing I really appreciate is how fast and efficient they are with the food, even when they're busy, which is pretty much all the time. The staff is friendly, and although I usually go through the drive-thru, I'll occasionally eat inside too. Overall, Arrys is one of those dependable neighborhood spots that's been around forever and continues to deliver.

I'm definitely a Pastrami fan and had recently heard about Arry's. So I had to check it out and see if the hype is real. I'm glad to say that It Is. First thing was at 7pm the drive through was packed as well as inside. Game 6 of the World Series was playing too. The inside was pretty clean and I paid a visit to the restroom and happy to see that it was also nice and clean. Descent amount of parking and in a nice spot in town. Now to the food. The Pastrami is drained well so the bread stayed dry on the drive home. Not too salty either but nicely peppery. My pooch doesn't like salty food and she loved it. It's apparent that they take care in this massive sandwich. Their pickled carrots onions and jalapeños are the best thing in the condiment bar. Pro Tip- Get down there and eat some Pastrami. You won't regret it. Also $2 more than The Hat and DOUBLE THE MEAT!

Came into town and wanted to take my daughter here so she can try this place out. This place has been here since I was goin to middle school and I would walk home passing to this place everyday.. so I brought my daughter here to try and show her the area where I used to go school and live. We order a chili cheese fries and it was amazingly still good as it was 20+yrs ago and still as good as it was, they give a very good portion and price is reasonable. It was enough for 1 people to finish it. As I growing up this place has always been my favorite place to go as I walking home and this place has been around over 30+ yrs now.. the food has been very good in the past and nothing has change except for some employees. Here has been my always to go place.. Glad I came back and revisit my child hood place.. Service here people is very friendly and they have workers that has been here over 15+ yrs as well. Ambience here it has so many changes and looks very good and well kept clean. Absolutely will be coming back next time I'm in town..

Pastrami Sandwich $16.50

What We Ordered: -Pastrami Sandwich $16.50 I usually get my pastrami at The Hat, but I wanted to try something different. I remember a chef recommending Arry's Super Burger, so I had it bookmarked on Yelp for a while. We were at Bowlero Montebello and got hungry, but didn't want to eat there. We stopped by Arry's for a pastrami sandwich. The pastrami sandwich was massive! My son, wife, and I split one, and it was very filling. I initially thought the price was high, as The Hat's pastrami dip is cheaper. However, after seeing the size of Arry's sandwich, I knew we were getting a quality sandwich for a good price. We will definitely be back to Arry's for pastrami and to try other dishes!

Order of Onion Rings. Idk why they give so much but it's great.

Outside of The Hat, Arry's truly has the best Pastrami sandwiches and in some ways is better. I would suggest bringing another person with you to split the Pastrami sandwich because it's huge. If you haven't had amazing onion rings before it's because you have had them from Arry's. The food quality here is top notch, super fresh and get your food to you quickly.

Stopped by on Saturday, 06/14/25 for the very first time with my boyfriend - dinner time. This is my boyfriend's go-to place growing up and he remembers the employees + general manager there; they all remember him too! Ordered the following: - 1 pastrami combo with pepsi (comes with fries) = $18.99 - 1 cheeseburger combo with raspberry brisk (comes with fries) = $10.99 - 1 side of chili $4.99 (additional $1 of adding chili) SUBTOTAL = $35.97 TAX = $3.76 OVERALL TOTAL = $39.73 The wait time was minimal - food arrived swiftly! The lady who came to ask how we're doing was very sweet - she asked if we wanted refills too. Overall a hidden gem in the Montebello area. Very affordable.

Liz was amazing! She delivered perfect customer service and went above and beyond whats expected. She really made my ordering process easy!

Tried Arry's for the first time and got the pastrami sandwich -- absolutely delicious! The meat was stacked high, juicy, and full of flavor. You can tell they take pride in their food. The fries were crispy and fresh, just could've used a little more seasoning for my taste. Overall, great spot for a hearty meal and classic diner vibes. I'm definitely coming back to try the chili cheese fries and shakes - stay tuned

Chili Cheese Fries

Arry's what is going on????? Did yall undergo a change in management or food supplier. The food is not as good as it once was. The most major disappointment was the chilly cheese fries! Absolutely diabolical, it doesn't even deserve the name of chilli cheese fries. Miss the old recipe and fries. I've been coming here for over 20 years and I visited my hometown just for Arry's and I was let down. Pleaseeeeee go back to your og recipe. Nonetheless, this place is clean and the workers are friendly

Had to go to Whittier for an appointment and decided to stop to get a pastrami and I still haven't found a place in Bakersfield that has a pastrami like this. Sandwich was huge snd shared with the wife. Also got some onion rings and fries both of which were delicious. Staff was friendly and fast with my order. Definitely have great food and highly recommend

Arry's is one of Montebello's iconic spots and when in the area, I'm definitely coming through. The staff is always warm, welcoming ,and attentive. As for the food, it doesn't get any better for a local casual fast food style eatery. You can't go wrong with pretty much anything you order, my favorites are the burgers, chili cheese fries, pastrami, and fried chicken. So good!!

WOOOOHOOOOO a wonderful experience!…read more Alright firstly is the food great, yes! It's a fast-food drive-in burger joint okay so let's talk about it. When I walked last night 15 minutes before close, no one was trying to rush me out and still asked if I wanted to eat there. This was delightful because usually people are completely poops about it. I wish I knew the young man's name who was the cashier he was so kind, outgoing, and just overall super bubbly and friendly. My had a small baby and I went in first to order and then went outside to trade with my husband so he could use the restroom as we waited for our to-go order. Without me sharing any thoughts with my husband the first thing he said when he got back is how supremely friendly the young man was and how he swears his attitude was contagious because he came out with a smile on his face. The food itself as mentioned was great. We took advantage on the specials for the double cheeseburger and the chicken sandwich. I know people will debate it, but I enjoyed the well seasoned and tasty breaded sandwich much more than In-n-out. The chicken sandwich tasted so high-quaity in comparasion to most fast food sandwiches I've ever had and priced so affordably. The entire resturant and the restroom were impicaly clean, the defintion of "sparkling clean". This location really has it together and the chose the right person to be in the front dealing with their customers. Truly a wonderful experience!

However, the location may put some off…read morefrom venturing to the place; I did during the day with my wife and mother-in-law, and it was OK. Buy at night, I'm not so sure I'd take my mother-in-law there. We ordered 1 Chicken Sandwich 2 Chili dogs with cheese 1 Chili fry 1 Soda for a total of $38.51 (cash) My first mistake; not taking a photo of the current 'Menu' board; it is different from what's shown here; it has been updated. However, there is a 'Grilled Chicken Sandwich' on the menu board that is not offered... instead, they offer a tiny fried; breaded, processed chicken disk patty, sandwich - honestly, not worth buying... stick to the chili burgers or chili dogs. My honest opinion on this is, they should simply remove the chicken sandwich altogether - it is of no real value to the customer. The Chili, however, is this places Strong Point -- thick to that, and they'd do well. Chili dogs are good; a decent, long, slightly snappy dog on a regular small bun, but lightly smothered with a decent portion of chili; not too messy and easy to eat. The Chili Fries were also good; not great but good. The portion if generous but the fries quickly turned soft before I could plow into them. I do like some crispy fries with my Chili. But the flavor was good. I can't make a recommendation on this until I try another batch of chili fries. If, however, the fries remain soaked and soft, then I'd probably pass them up but just buy straight fries instead -- I hate soft soggy fries. As for the soda; a large is an OK size. I cannot say if they offer a refill; I did not go back to ask for one. But I'd hope a refill is available for the price. Pastrami: I got to taste a sample of the Pastrami, and it is really good. Here is where Chroni's could kick it up a notch; Chroni's does not have Bacon - Huge Disappointment and Missed Opportunity. With the Pastrami, and with Bacon, they could add one more menu Item that I know for a fact would sell: The Monster Burger - it is simply this: Bacon Cheeseburger with Pastrami, Chili, Onions & Pickles, and mustard. If they'd add this to their menu, I'd be back for sure. Just saying; something for Chroni's to think about. Get rid of the chicken, add the bacon. Seating: Oh, yeah; seating; Lots of outdoor seating... we were there on a Sunday and there were plenty of open tables. Parking: Lots of Parking too... for most parts or time, parking should not be an issue as I had thought. I nearly parked 3 blocks away when I saw the parking on the street; not knowing Chroni's had its own parking. But then discovered, they had plenty. I cannot say anything about restrooms; I didn't need to go nor looked to see if they had restrooms. My take-away for Chroni's is this; it is a throw-back to a early time when Snack Shack foods was a regular thing in L.A.; a nostalgic place with Lots of Promise and Potential. Pricing is a sign of the times; a bit high for me but it is what it is, but the staff are friendly & nice. My hope for Chroni's would be to focus on promotions & higher sales volume with an emphasis toward lowering prices as demand begins to grow once again. By minimizing the menus and just focusing on turning Chroni's back into High Quality Chili & Chili Burger Shack will definitely help increase sales once prices come down a bit. And if done right, there will still be lots of opportunity to turn a nice protfit. 5 Stars for Friendly & Nice Service 2 Stars on the Chicken & Soft/Soggy Fries 4 Stars for Seating 4 Stars for Parking 3 Stars for Cleanliness/Outdoor Dining/Restrooms (???) and bus bench/streetside characters. And, 5 Stars for Potential Overall - 3.5 Stars for now.

The second visit "could've been better" (which Yelp suggests that a 2 star rating would be appropriate to indicate): we placed quite a simple order - 2x Strawberry Sundaes. We took our number placard (#52) and sat at a table to await our order. After patiently waiting what I would estimate to be approximately 15-20 minutes and seeing quite a few other people served their orders, I did find it odd that it was taking so long to prepare 2x sundaes, so I located the young man who took our order and politely inquired about it. He looked a bit confused, exchanged some unintelligible words one of the guys on the grill, and then looked back at me and said it was not our turn yet (or something to that effect). Okay, fair enough. Maybe there were many orders ahead of us. I took it in good stride and went back to my table. After waiting approximately another 15-20 minutes and seeing that *Order #70* was being given their food, I realized that there was a problem and went back up to the ordering counter. I ended up talking with an old man (who I presume is the owner/manager). I explained the situation, and he inquired who had taken our order. I looked around, and the young man appeared to be nowhere in sight, but I did mention it was he who had had taken our order. The old man apologized and assured us he would take care of our order right away. Sure enough, I saw him beeline to the ice cream machine to start our sundaes, and he delivered them to us within 2-3 minutes. He apologized a second time, stating that it was the young man's 2nd day on the job, and that he otherwise would not have forgiven the transgression. In my experience, the resolution to the absurd wait could have been handled worse (in theory, the old man could certainly have told us to pound sand rather than apologizing and immediately attempting to correct the problem and quickly getting our desserts after being made aware of his employee's failure), but also could have been handled better (comping us for the trivial cost of the sundaes as a remedy/cure would have more effectively salved our irritation from the unnecessary waste of 30+ minutes of our life, and would have been in-line with remedial efforts I have experienced at other eateries, including similar fast food/burger joints). All that said, the sundaes were quite good. They would undoubtedly have tasted better had they been served in a time frame reasonable enough to not spoil the mood. I get that this is not a fine dining restaurant of any sort, but I still expect staff competence to be no worse than that of a McDonald's baseline level. I also get that humans make mistakes, but ... how did a simple order of 2x sundaes get botched this badly, particularly after a good faith attempt to bring the matter to staff's attention??
