He was borderline harassing me to call for a quote and when I had my husband call he said that he couldn't take on the work because he didn't have time. He stole my number off of his caller ID and wrote it down and passed it along to another company without my permission after my husband hung up on him when he recommended another contractor and when my husband asked if they had a yelp page and if they had reviews he said they had bad reviews because of the algorithm. Then this other company started texting and calling me. I can find my own contractors with good reviews thank you very much. If you don't want the work then please stop harassing me. Well, after having my Liquid Amber trees trimmed, it turns out I am allergic to them! So no choice but to trash them. Called Christopher and he and his guys came out and cut down the ones in the back yard. The pollen was blowing right in my bedroom window. They were on time, and it took the three of them only 1 hour to cut down 2 medium sized and 1 small tree. $400. Seemed reasonable. We've been using Arbor Age Tree for about 8 years now. Years ago a neighbor decided to go the cheap route and trim his ornamental pear tree, which almost killed it. Arbor Age Tree Service rescued the tree and now it's beautiful. Since then we've taken over the neighbors tree and won't allow the neighbor to trim it anymore. Arbor Age Tree Service now trims the neighbors tree. On Friday March 13, 2015, I had tree's trimmed in the front and back. Before the trim date, Chris came out evaluate and estimate the project. He's always been prompt, professional and he and his staff have great customer rapport. The paperwork was complete with price and there were no hidden costs the day of the work and the price did not deviate at all from the original quote. Ok so normally I try to make my reviews funny, but there just really isn't anything funny about chopping down a tree that's threatening my foundation. After checking reviews on Yelp, it seemed to me a no brainer to go with Arbor Age. Christopher came out quickly to do an assessment for me. He's very professional and delivers a copy of all of his paperwork and proof of insurance and license. That's actually the first time I've ever received that from a company. A refreshing change. I had a couple of trees that needed to be knocked down but not all right now. He gave me a quote good for six months on my other iterations of tree massacre which will help me with my financial planning. The first tree was super important to me and he scheduled me for the next day which was nice since he had a small bit of time available and he was booked out 3 weeks. His guys showed up early. WAY early. Like 8am early, which is totally my fault since I did tell him I wanted it done ASAP. Can't fault the guy for listening to my request. Mental note for next time though. :) The thing I especially liked is that his guys set up a shield so that no chips flew at my neighbors yard. Chris gave us an incredibly fair price for removal of a very, large star pine that previous owners had placed in a very tight, totally wrong spot. We ended up going with another company because his pricing was very high and way outside our range. We did have to keep touching base to get our bid. I'm very confused about these reviews. This company has extremely strange customer service. I've never experienced anything like it! They asked how long I could wait to have my trees trimmed and I said it didn't really matter but I mostly cared about the health of the trees since they are so old. Well this apparently was not the right answer as this guy kept cutting me off and insisting I choose a number of weeks I could wait. So off the top of my head i said six weeks or so, and he said he couldn't help me. So then I said well I can wait longer and it is not a matter of urgency but still he cut me off again and again saying that I said 6 weeks. It was frankly the most frustrating conversation. He truly did not want my business and when I asked him why he couldn't just trim the trees one day later then the 6 weeks I threw out there he hung up on me. Again I am extremely confused by these reviews when based on the reviews I was hoping and prepared to call just one company and they could have the job which is probably a~$3000 job based on the size of the trees. And to top it off if he had said that his next available wasn't until mid-January I may have excepted that based on these reviews. What a bummer! I'm sure they do good work but he was such a jerk to me. Note- make sure you have an exact date for when you want the job completed if you call this company or they will force you into saying a date and then tell you that they can do it one day later and you said a specific date so therefore they can't do it and will hang up. We had a huge tree in very close quarters near the beach that had outgrown its space. I searched yelp and found many positive reviews about Arbor Age. Chris gave us a very fair bid, and sent a crew to take down the monster. I was amazed with the work this crew did. It was physics, geometry, and art all wrapped into a 4 hour job. They had to map out a strategy to get those branches to fall on exact spots, and on safe ground. I have new respect for the work these men do. Just moved into a house that had 6 giant Birds of paradise and palm trees planted every foot or two in the yard. We met with Christopher to have him remove the giant birds because they were pushing the rear fence down and taking over the yard as well as some palms that were planted to close to the house. Christopher's team cut down and stump ground all the trees in very quick order. Christopher was the only person who said we could stump grind Birds of paradise below the surface next to our fence instead of removing the root ball. This saved us from having to replace the fence right away which is great. Chris's team also trimmed the palms we did not take out and the place looks great now. Fair price easy to work with. I had a very big job for tree removal at my home in Olivenhain - 7 trees needed to be removed. I called the top 2 rated companies on Yelp - Arbor being one of them. Christopher could come over the next evening (at my request) while the other said I'd have to meet them at my home during the morning or middle of the day sometime later that week. Christopher demonstrated a lot of knowledge regarding the nature of my issues right away -- particularly 3 tall dead alders on the slope near my home that would be very challenging to remove safely. He wrote up his bid and said he could do the work while my family and I were away on vacation (perfect). He also said his business is all about quality and his reputation. After he left, my wife and I talked it over -- and we never got the second bid. Given the other reviews I had read, I figured his had to be reasonable. His team did an excellent job. Cleaned up very well after themselves and even brought down our trash cans because they knew we were on vacation. We plan on using them again. read more

We hired them to remove 4 trees, camphor, peach, Two 65 foot Leland cypress. We also had them trim & shape our jacaranda, magnolia, mimosa and 2 twisted junipers. The crew was on time each day, they all worked very hard, communication was effective, they cleaned up after finishing each of the 3 days.
