I wish I could give it negative stars...we walk in and the sign says seat yourselves. I look to my left and I see a sign that says section closed we walk further into a the restaurant and see my father in-law has saved us a table next to another group of people. He had gotten there about 9:45 pm. We walked in around 9:55. As soon as we sit down the manager comes over and tells us the section is closed. PHard to believe since there were people eating there in that section and a lack of a sign saying this section is closed. Then she goes on to tell us the kitchen is closed.....at 10:00 pm. She refused to acknowledge that we were in the restaurant before 10 waiting for service. We left.... it was evident they didn't care about the guests. After reading the reviews on here I see us not eating here as a blessing due past experiences of food poisoning and sheer disappointment. As we pull out of the restaurant we see the staff outside smoking cigarettes. Just terrible terrible service. Worst I've seen in a long time if not the worst I've ever seen. Where is the owner????? If they cared about there investment at all they would read these reviews and hopefully decide its time for a change at management...please listen to these reviews and go eat somewhere else. Food is ok, bar food style. The service is great. Plenty of room for parties. We had a Christmas get together the problem was The cook is subpar he sent out appetizers one at a time. And getting our dinners was equally as slow. There was lots of waiting for each of our dishes. Some improvements in this area would greatly improve the over all quality. read more

This place has the worst service I have ever experienced. We were there over 3 hours. Our food didn't come out all together. We had to tell our waitress that she forgot to bring out our drinks we asked for. We waited almost an hour for our check. Agree with most other reviews, it's "meh" and ridiculously overpriced. The food isn't bad, but nothing to get excited about. The "kids eat free" for hotel guests is a huge misnomer in that its only if you're paying full retail price at the hotel (who does that anymore?) which is mentioned no where on their website. It's probably fine if you're staying at the hotel for business and get reimbursed for meals, but if I were local I can't think of any reason that I would come back. Staff was fine and friendly, no complaints there. My biggest complaint is just that the food is easily 30% overpriced. read more

Where's the love for a place that's started bringing in top-flight blues bands 52 weekends a year? The dance floor has been hoppin' the 9 or 10 times we've been there, so somebody is enjoying it. Drink specials are cheap, staff are friendly, and the food is passable. The average age when we've been there is 40-50, so I can see this being less appealing to the younger crowd. Was much better in the past. I have been going here for Blues, Brews, and BBQ on Saturday nights. I love live music and this bar really supports the local music industry. The food had never been top notch but it was always passable. Until last night. My GF and I went here on Friday night and were sorely disappointed. She had a White Russian and it was OK. I got the beer on tap special. It was not nearly cold enough. Since it was a microbrew I pretended I was in Europe and could only get warm beer. But the Nachos? Worst I have ever had! What are nachos about? Chips right? There were about a dozen broken chips spread on dinner plate (this is not an exaggeration). Given a choice of chicken or beef we chose beef and got a layer of very greasy and unspiced hamburger that tasted like it was in the refrigerator too long. The grease spoiled the sorry layer or chip crumbs. Spilled carelessly over the top was a gooey mass of lettuce, tomatoes, and a tasteless thin mat of cheap cheese gluing it to the plate. This was slopped over with a huge blob of sour cream (great if we'd had some chips). For the crowning touch the cook threw on a giant handful of old pickled jalepano peppers (think that jar in your fridge that opened last winter). I was hungry and am kind of frugal so I ate them. I'm getting around to this a little late, but I still would like to share our experience, in hopes of saving others. I see that previous reviews are pretty bad, most saying lousy service and sub-par food. We came here for Easter Brunch, we have come a couple times before previous years as well. For $25.99, you can't complain about the selection and variety of food. However, EVERYTHING that was supposed to be HOT is slightly warm, not HOT, not entirely cold either. I don't know what happened to the "hot stays hot and cold stays cold" rule. Apparently it doesn't apply here, our waiter was pleasant and brought him a plate of freshly cooked food. That still wasn't hot. She took another plate of food into the kitchen and had them heat it, it STILL wasn't hot when she brought it back. The manager, I guess, came over and said "I hear you're not satisfied with your steak and potatoes"? I thought it was odd if her to say that, since it was prime rib and mashed potatoes. My husband replied the food wasn't hot enough and he was sure it wasn't being held at the appropriate temperature and it was very disappointing for $25.99 that he couldn't get a hot plate of food. I suppose she mumbled an apology. That's the extent of the staff trying to satisfy their guests. As I mentioned we've eaten here a couple other times, previous years for Easter or Mothers Day Brunch and the food temperature thing is on-going. I will add, once two other people we were with got food poisoning after eating here. This place gets one star for our waiter trying to help the best she could, and one star for the selection of food. Next year we will be finding some place that can serve hot food. There are so many great places for dining in Ann Arbor, please don't limit yourself to Guy Hollerins. Honestly, you'd get a better, fresh, hot meal at Big Boy across the street. read more

Oh my god.... this food was AWFUL. I had the perch with rice pilaf and steamed vegetables. The perch came as five, very odd-looking, skinny deep-fried portions. The worst part was that you could see through the breading that there were DARK FISH SCALES still on this fish (which there were more scales than actual fish) underneath the breading!!! It was repulsive. This came with some extremely salty cold Rice-a-Roni. The only palatable option on the plate were the flavorless steamed vegetables. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ meatloaf, which was obviously some cheap frozen Banquet meatloaf. It came with a load of cold BBQ sauce poured over the top. All in all.... NEVER AGAIN. read more

We came to Guy Hollerin's because it was in our hotel and convenient. But, we came out as better people. First off, we ordered Guy's Nachos which weren't half bad based on some previous reviews. Then, after sitting around and watching the Michigan game for awhile, we ordered the grilled cheese and some dessert. The grilled cheese was pretty good and smothered brownies was delicious!! Also, service was great! Our server, Amber, was attentive and courteous. Also, when we asked to turn another tv on and it turned out to be broken. They called a maintenance man without hesitating and he came to the rescue. This is why I love it here at Guy Hollerin's! read more

My wife called me to tell me what an awful experience she and her co-workers had this evening (4/10/18). First, she reported the Women's Bathroom (located in the hotel) were so disgusting (questionable hairs on floor and lingering in general) caused her to dry heave the hour long tacos for which she had to wait. Yes, Taco Tuesday's took an hour to arrive to the table. Taco Torever is more like it. 1/2 the table received perfect orders (45 minutes after ordering) while the other 1/2 received 20 minutes after the first 1/2. Unfortunately, something simple as no cheese was ignored for the second 1/2 of the table so...my wife's colleague waited over an hour for the wrong order OF TACO'S!!! At no time did the Waitress stop by the table to ask how they were doing because she was so overwhelmed. My wife is CONFIDENT someone (either a manager or hostess) overheard complaints to the Waitress but didn't bother to address the table. The menu boasts about "Guy Hollerin" being an Ann Arbor native and dedicated to food/service. My wife suggests "Guy" get some Zingermann's education. But then again, based on the Yelp feedback, "Guy" couldn't GAF. Worst ever experience. read more

I ate at this place three times because I was stuck staying at the Holiday Inn, which if I may add have the most horrible pillows and I couldn't sleep for 3 nights straight. Of the three times I ate here, only once was the food good and that was when I ate a salad at the bar for lunch. Bartender made some decent drinks too. The other two times were for breakfast and they were horrible. The first time I was eating breakfast with my boss and he noticed that all the cups on the table when we were first sat down were compeltely filthy. So they changed them all out and we decided on what we wanted. I ordered hot tea with some vegetarian skillet type thing. They bring out your choice of tea bags which was nice along with a small pot of hot water. I already had drank one cup of tea before I noticed some -nasty- looking thing floating in the pot. Yuck. I also might add that you'll be hard pressed to find something on the menu besides fruit or pancakes that doesn't have some sort of potato item along with it. They're good but after awhile you get sick of them. I thought the skillet I ordered would have more vegetables than it did, mostly just chopped peppers and a few mushrooms and broccoli for good measure, oh and of course the huge mound of potatos. The second time I ate breakfast there again, I decided to steer clear of their potato items so I ordered cinnamon french toast with cranberry juice. The food was okay but the cranberry juice the waitress brought out was watery. The waitress nonchalantly said oh you just got the last glass out of the machine. She did go get me another but if thats what that machine puts out they need a new one. The only other problem was that it took forever for the food to come out. I mean over 30 minutes. Long story short, eat at the bar, look carefully at your glasses, plates, and silverware, and if you have to eat there for breakfast, get the buffet. read more

Two pinball machines are a plus, although one of them is tough to use if it is crowded. The food is good and there is usually some sort of drink special, for beer anyway. I avoid it when there is a cover, as I can go to plenty of bars for free. Still go there often enough if we are just looking for a quick drink, as it is close. The staff is very nice. And that was it from top to bottom. DRAMA. Service was slow according to the barkeep because of the computer. Food delivery according to expo was because the kitchen. Waiting 13 minutes for another pint of Guinness was because another patron was talking too much. I wouldn't go back to this place with your wallet. We ate here more than once, while guests at the Holiday Inn. The service, food and ambience were excellent! Carly went above and beyond in insuring our food and service were perfect! Brandon our server was awesome! The food was very, very good. We had dinner and breakfast and would definitely recommend eating here. The place was very busy being Friday night and it seemed many guests were enjoying their food and dinner. The Operations Manager was visiting tables and seemed very pleased to be getting many compliments. I would definitely eat here again, even wasn't staying at the hotel.
