About eighteen years ago, I lost four of my lower front teeth in an accident. At that time, dental implant technology was not as advanced, and the bone in the lower front area was very narrow. Because of that, I had a bridge placed instead of implants. Over the years, several of my back teeth also failed, and I eventually had a total of seven implants placed. In 2025, the two teeth supporting my bridge fractured, leaving me missing six lower front teeth. I consulted three different dental offices, and all of them recommended placing four implants. Because these were front teeth and I already had experience with implants, I spent quite some time doing research and consulting different doctors. Eventually I found Dr. Andrew Petersen in Arcadia. Compared with other offices, his fees were somewhat higher, and I hesitated for a while before making the decision. In the end, I chose him for three reasons. First, if implants are done well, they can last fifteen years or even longer; if they are not done well, they may fail in eight to ten years. Second, I see dental work as a long-term investment in my health. Third, front-tooth implants are technically challenging, so choosing the right doctor is very important. When I visited Dr. Petersen, he recommended placing three implants instead of four. After the procedure, I was very satisfied with both his technical skill and the service provided. His staff members are very friendly, and the office is extremely well organized. Later, I also had another implant placed an upper right molar along with a bone graft. After the procedure, Dr. Petersen noticed the bone around that area was still weak, so he performed an additional bone graft to reinforce it--without charging me anything extra. He said he wants to make sure every implant he places is done properly and will last. That moment reassured me that choosing Dr. Petersen was absolutely the right decision. Dr. Peterson himself is so encouraging and just has a positive presence that uplifts you which is extremely important when you are having dental issues which can be a bit of a bummer. What an amazing experience. From the moment we walked in we encountered a clean, calm and enjoyable atmosphere. The stag behind the desk were kind and helpful. My sons wisdom teeth removal went perfectly, he was correctly dosed with medication, no loopy over drugged side effects! I am referred to Dr. Peterson by the Loma Linda dentist school faculty to immediately treat my gum disease. Dr. Peterson took a good care of my treatment and beyond. He is knowledgeable even with the latest technology for the procedure. I did laser treatment to get rid of the infected bad tissue without having additional bone loss. For your consideration, My gum pocket is so deep, they numbered around 8 to 11. halfway down the treatment, it goes down to 3 to 5 (normal gum pocket is 1-3). From that, you can see how severe my gum disease was and how effective is Dr. Peterson laser treatment. I had a gum implantation from Dr. Fuentes. I have to say that he has very good manners and is extremely polite. He's extremely knowledgeable in what he does. However, I was disappointed in that the first time i had the surgery when I used cadaver tissue that the transplant didn't work. It wouldn't have been an issue had I been warned that this was a possibility but he assured me that there weren't going to be any problems. The surgery finally went well when I used my own tissue which he did free of cost. In general, I think he does an excellent job, but he does need to entertain the possibility that things don't work out all the time despite his skills as a dentist. read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Fuentes to try to determine if a tooth that I had had a root canal on a year ago was possibly fractured into the root. I saw Dr. Fuentes twice before deciding to go forward with a procedure to go into the gum and bone and look for a fracture. I arrived at 10:00 am was taken right away and the dental assistant was very helpful in calming my nerves. Dr, Fuentes came in and he is the most calming dentist i have ever encountered. He is so kind, gentle and completely puts you at ease which for me is a giant task.. He did the surgery and thankfully my tooth was not fractured. When the anesthesia wore off, the pain was moderate and tolerable. This office is where you want to be for dental surgery on your gums, implants and a host of other procedures. Went here months ago, the Dr said a lot of stuff that maybe I would've considered if I had the $$$. He wanted to split open my gums and fix my smile. I get it, this is his job, so if he sees something that can be fixed why not? The place was very nice and the people especially the Dr. were quite nice. Fast forward to me getting a bill in the mail for a consultation they told me was covered by my ins, this bill stated that I am over 60 days late on paying. I hadn't received one single notice and now 7 months later they are sending me this. I called, the person I spoke with essentially told me I was ignoring their notices of my delinquent account. I don't take well to people telling me I have done something I have not. My insurance is looking into it now. I don't trust whomever is in charge of their billing dept. read more

Writing this review for my mom (Diep Nguyen): I came into the office for a teeth cleaning and implant. The hygienist Mr, Louis is the best! He was very thorough but also very gentle during my teeth cleaning which is something I oftentimes don't get when I go to other dentists. The surgery with Dr. Fuentes went well. He also kept the implant process painless. He was very professional and friendly. I trusted Dr. Fuentes more than other implant specialists since he was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable. He took time to explain my situation, what was wrong, and what solutions he had. I highly recommend this place to anyone whether it be for tooth surgery or a simple dental cleaning. This dental office was out of my insurance network but they were kind enough to provide me with a pretreatment quote. Dr. Fuentes and his team have made me feel comfortable and supported, which is saying a lot for someone who is dental-phobic! I was referred to his office by Dr. Jacobsen (located in the same building). I was lucky that the day I was referred Jacobsen's office was giving coupons for free consultations so that saved me approx $200. I had been seen by another well known periodontist in the Pasadena area but I was not comfortable with his attitude and chair side manner so I was extremely pleased that Dr. Fuentes is friendly, kind and reassuring. He offers iv sedation which was what I needed to be able to go through the removal of my tooth and do all the prep work for an implant. In all, my procedure included tissue (mine) and bone (cadaver) grafting, removal of the tooth and previous root canal work, laser treatment of bone to stimulate healing and the insertion of the implant "hardware" for lack of the technical term. After the bone graft heals completely - approx 4 months after the surgery - the Dr. will check to see if I am ready for the final crown. If not, I will continue with the temporary "flipper" or retainer until complete healing has occurred. I am tremendously pleased with my progress - I had delayed the removal of a tooth that was causing me lots of pain. Now I am pain-free!!! Not only is Dr. Fuentes a great doctor, but his office is beautiful, lots of light and a great view of the mountains. Good free parking is always available. read more

The first thing I will say is DO NOT TAKE ANY SHORTCUTS when you are having a procedure as serious as implants. There are many advertisements to walk in and practically walk out that same day with new teeth. Don't do it!! I have been going to Dr. Fuentes for many years and I cannot say enough good things about him, about his work, and about his staff. I have had several implants which have all been successful. If something else needs to be done at the time of the procedure (gums, bones, etc) he takes care of it. He does whatever he needs to do to make the process seamless and successful from start to finish. Things don't always go by the book during these procedures but he has never let me leave his office without being put together enough that I'm confident to go about my normal life while waiting the 6 months from the time of the implant until the implant is strong enough to have a crown. It's a very slow process but patience pays off. I cannot recommend Dr. Fuentes enough!! read more

Dr. Fuentes and his staff are as professional as it gets. He has treated me for gum recessions on two occasions over the space of 16 years, and though the surgeries were obviously unpleasant, the outcome was excellent. Dr. Fuentes also treated my adult son for a problem with an implant done years ago by another surgeon. Again, the result was excellent. As a new patient, you'll go for a consult, which will likely involve X-rays and such. The office is nicely decorated, calm, cool, cushy-comfortable, and has piped-in jazz music and a great view of the San Gabriels. The medical equipment is crazy-impressive. The doctor clearly communicates options and recommendations without bs-ing you. I find him friendly and easy to trust. Afterward, you're directed to the person who breaks down the all-inclusive costs for the treatment you choose. They know everything about the insurance companies with which they work, so there likely won't be any surprises down the line. It won't be cheap, of course. Before and after you've completed the treatment, you'll be given precise instructions re: what you need to do and what meds are appropriate. The doctor will give you his phone number in case there's an immediate problem, but you won't need it because he's done all this stuff successfully for a long time and is probably among the best in his field. Here's the best thing, in my opinion: Dr. Fuentes will very critically appraise his work when you come in for post-surgery checks. I'm guessing he's a bit of a perfectionist, so if he doesn't think that things have turned out as well as they could have, he'll fix it. That means more pain, of course, but if you've suffered for a long time with periodontal issues, you'll be happy you're in the care of someone who,wants the best possible outcome for his patients. All of this pleasant professionalism and high level of competence is going to cost you. The care coordinator will help you to work things out, but if you don't have insurance, good luck. I have so-so insurance and an FSA account at my work, so I ended up paying nothing out-of-pocket. Still, keep your credit card handy. The bottom line is that I totally recommend Dr. Fuentes. I sincerely hope I never have to avail myself of his services again--- but if do, I'll go to him knowing he's the best. read more

Been seeing Dr Fuentes for about 8 years now. He's my go to guy for implants!!!!! He's a master mind specialist with what he does. It's quite a drive for me but it is worth it. Ive done my research and seen many other doctors but Dr. Fuentes isn't even comparable to the others. I've had a dentist scam me for my $ in the past, I've had doctors say that an implant was impossible due to the little to no bone in my gums, I've had them want to remove my teeth and get dentures.... But seriously Dr Fuentes Will FIX a complicated yet tricky situation and makes it possible! He is gentle, his is honest, he is organized ! His office is beautiful and clean. I had implant surgery twice by Dr. Fuentes. First time was 12 years ago and second surgery was about one week ago. So far, I do not have any problem with my surgery however staffs who works at Dr.Fuentes are not professional. After I made an appointment, they kept calling me to come in early but I did not call to change my appointment. since I clearly told them that I do not want to change any other day. When I went for my appointment, my appointment was cancelled and was told that they cancelled because they were unable to contact me. No reminder call prior to Second appointment but they did not cancel my appointment since Dr. had to perform implant surgery. Third appointment was one week after my implant surgery. They called me one hour prior to my appointment to tell me if I was able to come in early. Dr. wants me to get refill of one of the medication. I even told a lady at the front desk to call in my pharmacy so that I can pick up my medication but as of today, they have not yet done so. It's a shame Dr. has to rely on those people to take care the patient. read more
