This is such a cute little grocery and deli in the charming town of pescadero. They have a wonderful selection of bakery items, drinks and other food items. We ordered the pesto chicken sandwich that came on homemade focaccia with pesto, sun dried tomatoes, and provolone cheese. It was delicious! I should have gotten a side of ranch or mayo because it was a little dry but still incredible due to the quality of the ingredients. What sent this review into 5 star is the little park behind the store where you can eat your food and relax in the shade. This is a cute little local store with a deli in the back. I had my dog with me, so I didn't have a ton of time to look around. There was an area with quite a large wine selection, ice creams, a nice area where you could grab packaged prosciutto, salami, cheeses, etc. to put together an impromptu picnic to take to the beach, a wide selection of different sauces and various other products (plastic utensils, red solo cups, etc.). I'm sure I am missing more but I had to just run on to grab the much talked about Garlic Artichoke bread and be quick about it. When I went in there were only two loafs of the Garlic Artichoke bread left, which I grabbed. They were both still nice and warm too! I did see a garlic artichoke cream cheese and some garlic butter. I grabbed one of each. I also wanted to try their Olallieberry pie in comparison to Duarte's, so I grabbed a slice of that. The store was nice and clean and the people working there were very friendly. We tried the bread later, once we made it home and it was so good. The artichokes are plain but I love artichokes, so that worked for me. The outer crust is good. It's not a super crunchy crust but it is just enough. The inside is so soft and fluffy. The artichokes are only in one spot, so it's mostly bread with the buttery, garlic seasoning which is really good in and of itself. It's definitely a unique bread but it's really good. And if you want a double whammy of artichoke and garlic the cream cheese with the bread is incredibly good. As for the Olallieberry pie, it is good but I personally prefer Duartes. It is a huge slice with a ton of yummy olallieberry filling. The filling is a little sweeter than Duarte's and not quite as tart. I wasn't a huge fan of the crust but I prefer a flaky crust in my pies. This felt a little more bread-y and dense but it was still good. It actually paired well with a Meiomi Pinot. Pricing wise, it seemed on par with what we pay everywhere in the area and surrounding areas. I definitely want to go back and try their sandwiches and get another loaf of the bread and cream cheese. It's worth stopping off and trying it especially if you are an artichoke fan. read more

This little town is probably 2 blocks long. Came across this grocery store. There's only one store on the block that sell sandwiches, fresh bread, varieties of fruit jams, varieties of bread spread, and other items. Saw people grabbing freshly baked artichoke garlic bread so I bought one too. It was the best fluffy and delicious bread I ever had. A must have! There's a deli in the back of the store. There was a long line so I figured it is good. So I ordered a turkey sandwich on Dutch crunch. The bread was light with a crunch. It was so fresh and good. I wished I bought more to bring home. With our goat cheese haul from Harley Farms, we headed into this store for their famous bread. We got some bread, a pasta salad, drinks, and settle into one of their tables outside. Had a great lunch spread eating the bread with goat cheese, the pepperoni, the fruits that I packed, etc. I also let my pup sample some cheese. He loved it. Service was friendly and the ambiance is an ole fashioned country store. Although we didn't partake, the hot item seems to be their sandwiches at the time of our visit. Too much hype, yes you get warm fresh bread but that's all. We drove more than 1 hour to reach there with excitement, the drive itself was great. It is a old store and were welcomed with great smell of fresh baked bread, inside the store. It reeks nostalgia , all cool to look around. We were hungry and ordered spicy cheddar and we asked them to make more spicy, quick service as it was not crowded. We got the sandwich, excited when we opened it was a sandwich made out of sliced bread and what more was we did know was extra spicy means more marinara sauce , that tasted like store bought. Walked in early afternoon to grab one of their famous artichoke garlic herb bread $10. It lived up to the hype. Even though it is kept out in the open, it is somehow kept warm. It is a big loaf of bread, totally justifies the price. Very fresh. Crispy and garlicy outer crust, soft inside stuffed with artichokes. The artichokes are not distributed evenly inside but there is actually a decent amount. Artichokes are very fresh, but plain. They would be even better if flavored in some way. Arcangeli Grocery came highly recommended, but sadly didn't live up to expectations. We stopped here for lunch, having heard great things about the sandwiches. I decided to build my own sandwich and asked the girl at the counter which bread she would recommend. She suggested the garlic herb, which I got with turkey, provolone, veggies, pesto, and garlic spread. Service was reasonably fast and they had the cutest back patio seating area with both sunny and shady spots. Unfortunately, the sandwich really fell short for me. The bread she had recommended was just sliced bread and the garlic herb flavor was pretty subtle. My friend had gotten his on dutch crunch, which was barely crunchy at all. We also got a freshly baked loaf of their famous Garlic Artichoke bread and this didn't even land for me. I expected the artichokes to be more integrated into the bread, but the loaf was just stuffed with whole artichokes - not the best. Fun little boutique grocery store in a cute town! Definitely worth stopping because there is something special for everyone. Quaint, unassuming grocery store with a lot of history and vintage pictures from the past. The cashiers and deli workers are all so friendly and helpful! They offer a few tables in front of the store but if you walk around to the backside of the building, they have a large picnic area with picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. They do have three port-a-potties also. I ordered the... #1 The Godfather (grilled): salami, mortadella, prosciutto, provolone, lettuce, onion, pepperoncinis & garlic-herb spread on pesto foccacia. My wife went with the BYO (Build Your Own) Sandwich. Hot Pastrami: soft roll bread, Muenster cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, & mayo. Both sandwiches were piled high with meat and both equally delicious! The pickle was good too. Not too sour. The artichoke garlic herb bread here is wonderful especially when it's hot and fresh out of the oven. They come out with them every 10 minutes and they get snagged fast, people are waiting. And it's worth the wait. Big chunks of artichoke inside and delicious bread and the crust is nice and crunchy. They also have a very good artichoke dip that we got to dip this in. That was double goodness! They sell ice cream, gelato, many different flavors of spaghetti sauces, there's a cold deli in the back, very cool grocery store. I picked up the artichoke Parmesan pasta sauce and I can't wait to cook with it. I also got the Meyer lemon gelato that was good and tangy. Such a cool little town to explore. If you're at all passing by the area, you have to come here for their famous Artichoke Bread. It's so fluffy and delicious every time! I love getting the half-baked loaves to bring home. Also highly recommend their Bruschettas! They have great sandwiches at the deli counter in the back as well. It's a little slow to get your sandwich (around 10 minutes for us), but there's plenty to look around at in the meantime. I got their chicken pesto sandwich, and the cheese pull on this warm sandwich was so beautiful, especially with the pesto. The sandwich was not too heavy and the chicken was decent. The focaccia it's served on is so airy and golden, it really makes the sandwich. Also huge conchas for $1.50! My friends and I split one, and I think I haven't had a good fresh concha until this -- it was so fluffy and lightly sweet. Hate to date myself, but I must. Been coming here since about 1988 and seen a lot of changes. For one thing, it's way busier. Another, the bread sizes have shrunk. They however still use a good amount of artichoke and garlic in the respective breads and it tastes the same. It was the perfect option for lunch! My order was a Chicken Club sandwich (add avocado) and a Pesto Chicken sandwich (also add avocado). Both sandwiches were grilled perfectly and they were generous with the avocado which was great. I also bought a mini strawberry rhubarb pie as well as a few Naked coconut waters and a flavor of Dirty potato chips that I hadn't tried before. The seating area out back has a couple of picnic tables and a small lawn and is a fantastic choice for those that want to enjoy their meal outdoors! Pricing was fair and I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. Service was also very quick and efficient -- I would estimate both sandwiches were done in somewhere around 15 minutes, which is impressive considering the medium-long line that they had. Went there to try out their famous Godfather sandwich and artichoke bread. The Godfather sandwich was super delicious, hearty, and savory. BF and I shared one; didn't think it was greasy at all. We both agreed it very well portioned, easy to eat in the go. Would definitely come back just for the Godfather and also try a different one. I can only speak about their sourdough and (fully baked) artichoke bread. I am not familiar with artichoke. I've seen the fruit (apparently flower) but never had it. This was my first time having artichoke... bread. I thought it was great. It is crunchy-soft on the outside, tender inside, and there is some flavoring on the artichoke itself. If you get it warm, I think it is super worth getting. I ate it at the "park" behind the building, which was also swarming with cyclists and birds. It was truly a divine experience eating this bread while it is fresh. It is a big portion, so yeah unless you are breaking bread like Jesus during the last supper, or on that story where he split bread for a gazillion people, you won't be able to finish the bread. When serving this again at home, make sure to only warm the bread, do not toast it until it's crispy. Only then will you revive the fluffy interior. Same instructions for the sourdough. It was 4/5 stars, still pretty good but is significantly blander (duh!). Pro tip: get cheese from the goat shop and smother it on the sourdough or artichoke bread. read more

Always the best! Been here many many times over the years, of course you have to get the artichoke bread but they also have fruit, pastries, regular grocery items and a deli. Most of the time there is a line to get custom made sandwiches but if you don't want to wait they have premade sandwiches in the cold case and omg they are made on fresh bread soooo good. I had an odd experience paying for my items today. I used my phone to pay and I saw a tip was added that I did not proactively add. They said my hand must've glided across the screen. So they redid the charges. Tonight I'm looking at my other credit card (that is not on Apple Pay) and see that I have the two charges from this place on that credit card too.
