Recently tried this bakery for the second time. Last time I bought a croissant and it was WAY over baked and I couldn't even bite off a piece. I had to rip it and then couldn't really chew it either. All the pastries looked too over baked and I figured it was just what happened that day. This time was the same but I ordered a Kouign Aman because it's a favorite and I thought I'd just rip it apart if necessary. I was asked if I wanted it reheated, yes please, but the result? All the sweet buttery goodness ended up on the bottom and hardened. I flipped it over, gently peeled back the paper and broke it up cause I paid $7.00 for it and I was not giving up(and $6.00 for the latte). It took work and strong teeth but the mission was accomplished. They have a wide selection of other types of food so I may return and give it another go with a non pastry item. The latte was great and the ambience is nice. I am still scratching my head about the dark, crunchy and almost burnt treatment these pastries receive. What am I missing? read more

There were so many beautiful pastry and quiche options available so that you could decide between something savory and sweet. When you come in you place your order and they can heat up your food and bring it right out to you. I came in for breakfast and opted for the quiche and it was pretty good. There were a lot of veggies inside and the eggs were fluffy, but maybe a tad in the oily side for my liking. We also tried some of their tarts and French baguettes. The bread was delicious and the raspberry tart was really good. I have heard that some things can be a hit or a miss here and I can kind of understand where they are coming from. Also something to note, the items here can get pricy. The quiche I ordered was $14 even, but the had one about the same size for $20. It really depends on what you get and the type of ingredients in the item you choose. Overall, a really cute spot to check out. Admirable effort, at least. Adorable French Bakery is based in Scotts Valley, but some reviewers including myself have encountered them at farmers' markets. I saw their tent at the Morgan Hill Farmers' Market this past weekend and was interested enough to pick up some pastries to try. They had two types of Kouign Amann ($7.00) available. The Apple version was not great. It was kinda just caramelized apple sauce on top, as opposed to a pastry with intact apple pieces, and it wasn't as buttery as the Original (aka cinnamon). The Original had the right flavors generally, although some bitterness came through on both items as they were all slightly burnt. If they could simply not burn the pastries, then Adorable's original Kouign Amann would be a solid recommendation. Unfortunately, I'm more likely than not to ignore them the next time I see them around. read more

None of the pastry items were named or priced at the farmers market, so I asked the worker what these things are and he said almond croissants. I was confused and clarified "these flat ones", and he said in a defensive tone "what do you mean flat"? I thought I'd just forget it and try it myself and he said $10 for this. I thought let me just buy it and get it over with. These almond croissants confuse me! They are like almond cookies on the edge but almond dough for the most part. There is no constants I've had in France that looks and tastes like this. They've gotta rename this! It doesn't taste bad but it's not a croissant. I then was greeted by the other person working who was extremely bothered I was asking questions about the pastries that weren't labeled and no menu above them so how am I supposed to know what is what??? 15 dollars two pastries... what a joke. It was a cute place but overpriced and treated like a nuisance and then asked for a tip after. I've gotten pastries and assorted desserts from the Adorable French Bakery's stand at the farmer's market four weekends in a row and it's delicious every time. The croissants are fantastic, I just tried the hazelnut pastry this past weekend and it's the best item on the menu, and the various fruit based crumb cakes are so worth it as well. The staff are incredibly friendly as well, they've been so helpful every weekend I've gone to help me try different things. Definitely give this place a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

Two weeks ago my husband and I visited this adorable place while waiting for our pet's medical procedure. The store looked lovely, and the aroma from the freshly baked bread was to die for. The staff greeted us with their warm smiles and were very friendly. We ordered morning bun and croissant, and they tasted as good as their smell. We also stayed for lunch. We tried their quiche and chicken pot pie. Both were very good and the quiche was filling. Unfortunately, while we were there, we received a call notifying us that that our pet had unexpectedly passed away. The sudden loss was overwhelming and we were in tears. As we prepared to leave, the staff quietly placed a wrapped chocolate croissant on our table. We want to thank you for that thoughtful gesture. We truly appreciate your kindness and compassion. Went for our first visit today. The Malone's sign is still up. It seems way too big for a space for a bakery, but maybe they will make it work. We mostly had savory things, which were pretty good. My wife and I shared a tart Provencal and a butternut Squash soup. The former was decent and the latter was excellent. If you are vegetarian, tell them before they add the bacon garnish. I had a latte, which was a little weak for my taste, so if you like it strong, ask for an extra shot. We also shared a chocolate eclair. The chocolate on top was yummy, but the eclair seemed a bit chewy. They are relatively new at this location, so let them work out the kinks, but do give them a try. read more

I used to love their pastries. When I would go there about once a month, I would spend almost $100 each time on various treats and sourdough bread. I went there two days ago. I walked in, they had one person working the sit down customers and two people working the counter. I looked around for a minute and then walked up to the counter. The counter lady was helping a construction guy pay, his buddy was talking to the other counter person. I stood there for 10 minutes, waiting for my turn. During that time, the sit down lady looked at me 3 times and didn't ask someone to help me. The counter people didn't acknowledge my presence. I just walked out. I'm going to miss you guys. I enjoyed the food here. But we went for dinner on a Friday evening and we were the only ones there, the whole time. I gather they haven't been serving dinner for very long so they haven't had time to garner a sit-down-restaurant type of crowd yet. Especially since they're still listing 3 pm as their closing time on Yelp (we were there about 6:30 pm). I had the Bœuf Bourguignon, which was tender and delicious. The accompanying potatoes gratin was wonderful! My husband had the Beef Lasagna, which was also good. We ordered a side salad of mixed greens which was slightly bitter in all the best ways, served with a vinaigrette that was not too heavy or vinegary or oily. Dessert wines are my thing so I had the Disznoko Tokaji Hungarian wine, which was sweet and refreshing. We followed it up by sharing the Swiss hazelnut chocolate cake, which was good, but my husband liked it more than I did. I enjoyed my dinner at Adorable. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I hardly ever give 5; an experience has to really knock my socks off. I've had their almond croissant from the farmers market before, but this one tasted different and like the quality had gone down or the recipe is different. The pan au chocolat was airy and flakey towards the top, however it gets denser toward the middle and looks/tastes like bread. Disappointed for the price. The dining experience here is great, especially the outside area during warm days. The servers here are generally very friendly. I definitely have favorite pastries, but my favorite is the almond twists. I was very disappointed today when I realized that they've changed the recipe for my favorite pastry. Now the almond twists have a lot of added almond paste which tastes terrible. If you love almond paste, you're good to go, but it's definitely not my thing - it always tastes too sweet and slightly artificial. read more

A friend said they had Quiche Lorraine so we stopped to check the place out. I got a slice of quiche and the Croque Monsieur (I'd never had this before). Both were a 10 out of 10, so rich and delicious! This is not your standard American butter crust quiche...it was different, flavorful and so complimentary to the custardy quiche. I still have half of each to look forward to. I got a blondie square too. I only had a bite, and it's rich and flavorful. Keep in mind that French desserts tend not to be very sweet, and this was not sweet at all, it was buttery. Place is super clean, and friendly, helpful staff. We took ours to go but you can also dine in. This isn't a chain restaurant, it's a local French bakery using many fresh local ingredients, so prices are higher as you would expect. Backward baseball caps and t-shirts do not bespeak the brand, IMHO When I suggested to one of the staff the idea of "berets" as a better brand look, I was presented with a mocking show of a mime...cute and a tad unkind. This is my favorite hang out in Scotts Valley as a vegetarian/vegan. I want to give a shout out that they have AMAZING VEGAN LASAGNA, and their salads are super fresh. too. The vegan lasagna is made with eggplant and is so delicious and you get some greens with on the side with it or can order a side salad. I took my mom here when she was visiting, and she got the chicken pot pie and said it was great as well. The service is always amazing. The ambiance is spacious and light and lots of outdoor seating as well. And they have a lovely bar now, so I will now be going there for a glass of wine as well! It just keeps getting better! I am just so grateful this place is in Scott's Valley! As an aside, I have bought gift certificates in the past to this place for people and they loved it, so it is also a great gift idea if you are like me and always looking for gift ideas...just saying. :) read more

Place was closed! As I drove up there was a woman with small children there that said that she had driven a long ways to find that the place was closed. There was no notification other than a fly by night note on the door to the establishment. I called the "bakery" later on that afternoon and there was only a request for the client to leave a message. Nothing about a "closure" on the message... temporary or permanent. No food. No service. No ambiance. Just a note on the door saying closed due to "technical" issues. Be wary! read more

We came for dinner around 6:30pm on a Friday evening. There were only a couple of other tables occupied on the patio. It took a while for the young man to take our order, but we ordered a bottle of wine, the slider, and beef bourguignon. Twenty minutes later and still no wine. We called over what appeared to be the manager and he got our wine right away. He said he'd check right away on the food. It came out soon after. The slider was pretty good and the fries were great. The beef bourguignon was another matter. It was in a bowl; half the bowl was salad, there were potatoes gratin (instead of potato puree) that must've been from the previous day because the top was impenetrable with a knife. The "beef" was three TINY pieces with VERY little gravy or carrots or mushrooms. This was $28?! I feel they had probably run low on food at the end of the shift and rather than tell me they were out of the dish, they served me this. I would rather have ordered a burger or something than have been served this disappointing dish. I live close by and have such high hopes for this place, but it will be a while before I try it again. read more
