What up with the staff's attitude? They first served my hot drink over ice, when I asked them politely to fix it, the coffee came by very weak inspite of me paying for extra shot of espresso. Again I asked them if this had 3 shots, the barista added another shot and give me a dirty look and said "if this doesn't work for you, let me know if you need 5-6 shots of espresso" like as if I am OverDosing on coffee. I used to come here a few yrs ago and it was actually a nice place but now it's just a room with some chairs and a roasting machine that I haven't seen in action pretty much ever. Arcedium Coffeehouse is a good place to come at breakfast. Lunch is pretty good too as there's also options. The prices are kind of high, which is the only bad thing. A popular place in the mornings because it's always busy. It's got a lot of places to sit inside including the bar in the middle. This is a bar with coffee though. Coffee is the main item of course. It's about $6 for one of the specialty coffees including the Maple French Toast Latte. This has a cinnamon and maple flavor so it's like the real thing. Also there's food. Breakfast options include quiche and yogurt parfaits. It's about $6 for a sandwich. Has a few at lunch but most are meaty like the Ham And Cheese. One vegetarian option is the Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich. A pretty standard one to be honest. There's also things like salads at lunch. For sure it's a popular place at breakfast. Arcedium is located in the quaint downtown of St Charles. There is an okay amount of street parking. Inside of Arcedium is more spacious than I expected, as the place kind of loops around and there's a room in the back, along with plenty of bar seating around the front counter. I didn't spend much time there, but the ambiance was nice and service was good. I got a cappuccino to go. The milk foam was excellent, but the coffee flavor was kind of weak. Not bad overall, though. Came here for the first time today as I was in the st Charles area. Saw some good reviews on the breakfast sandwhich. I chose a pepper jack cheese and sausage for the meat. The sandwhich was very good I will say. I chose one of their specialty drinks but honestly it just tasted like regular coffee almost. But I will say the coffee quality was still good too. I paid about $19 just for those 2 things. The pricing is pretty high in my opinion. Service was good too and not much of a wait for my food. I know coffee as I've roasted over 9,000 pounds in the last few years. My order was taken quickly and the staff was extremely polite. I ordered a Bali Blue Moon, 16 ounce, pour-over. The beans were ground in front of us and the ratio seemed perfect. My barista took her time, measured the heated water, measured the grounds, and set her scale. The initial pour was allowed to bloom and the remaining water was slowly added. This Bali coffee was outstanding. I've been going here for a little over a year. Staff was always rude. It used to be pretty dated inside but a little while ago they remodeled and I was excited. Unfortunately the remodel didn't come with better service. Last month my wife and I ordered small classic Arctics. The barista (short brown haired male with a mustache) places incorrect drinks on the counter. When I kindly say what the order was he immediately gets defensive and tells me "we ARE ONLY MAKING ONE SIZE OF SMOOTHIES TODAY". I'm pretty confused at this point because these aren't smoothies. So I kindly say "Ok, but I don't think these are smoothies". He repeats himself about the size of smoothies. I take a step back and say "Ok, maybe you call these smoothies, who knows, but regardless the actual drinks are incorrect". He then tells me to just go to the counter and get a refund. In which I'm extremely irritated and confused. Then he goes back and says he will just remake the drinks. I spoke with the acting manager at the time about what was taking place. She was sweet and understanding but as we are talking he puts the three remade drinks on the counter. All wrong again (and now a third drink?). We left, she gave me a free drink card to use in the future. I haven't wanted to return since, but tried this past Thursday, Sept 25th at 2pm. I was just going to redeem my card, and purchase a drink for my wife. We get there and 2 customers are ahead of us and no one at the register. I look over and short angry brown haired man with a mustache (we really need a name for this barista) is slamming drinks on the counter, being rude with customers that are all waiting on their drinks, and still no one taking orders. We gave it a little over 7 minutes before we said nope, we're out. We won't ever return here unless there's a glorious "under new management" sign flown above. Now I'm stuck with this useless free drink card staring me in the face every time I open my wallet. But it's ok because I'll keep it as a reminder on how not to treat customers. I LOVED THIS PLACE! Lots of seating and parking. Plenty of food options. I got a breakfast sandwich that they were kind and gracious to make accommodations for me to make a vegetarian one. It was great! They have a ton of different lattes! I had a campfire latte iced and it was SO GOOD. I also tried it hot, and didn't like it as much. I paid almost $9 for a SMALL drink, and when I got it, I swear it was the most foul drink I've ever had. It tasted burnt, bitter, and the "lavender" taste actually tasted like perfume. It was BAD. The perfect coffee shop ! This coffee shop is nestled into the cute town of St.Charles right by the river . They have tons of specialty drinks which I love all the different latte options . I have tried a few and they've all been great! They have a great selection of pastries & other breakfast . The breakfast sandwich is delish! Arcedium is my favorite coffeehouse in the STC area. It is lovely and welcoming on the inside, with plenty of places for people to sit and visit. They always have a nice variety of staples and new seasonal beverages on the menu, and every employee I've interacted with here has been wonderful. I also love the baked goods that they typically have in the pastry case- there is typically a wide variety that rotates here as well. This place was great!! I've never been here and I wanted to try one of their MANY flavors of lattes. I got the chocolate cherry mocha and it was great! The coffee wasn't too sweet and it also wasn't too bitter. I also got a yogurt parfait that was great as well. The staff were also very nice and quick. I didn't even have time to scroll on my phone! I was overcharged there many times. The place has no prices displayed and every day it is different. I wonder if Kane County can send someone to check if it is legal not to display the price for the goods sold. I am seriously considering calling the consumer department. Also, as often as I was there, no receipt was given. It's not even offered, do you want a receipt or not? I bet the owner does not care if you come or go somewhere else. Don't get me wrong the customer service was great and the workers were patient and polite. My biggest issue is the prices. I don't mind high prices but they do not even display the prices on the food board or menu. Basically you don't even know how much anything cost till they ring you up. It's a bit annoying because I had to ask how much everything cost multiple times and ask them to remove items. The food is horribly bland like it's not even worth the price. A torta was $12 (they usually cost $6) and it was basically a kiddie meal. Not only that but they tried to make it look good by adding chips on the side. I ordered a torta not chips. Just call it a turkey sandwich because tortas are supposed to be huge. And the coffee... how do you make coffee bland. Loved the service though ! read more

This is a nice place for coffee, but I like the food too. Only thing we are not happy here is when you order food is so confusing and mess up. This place is a very good meeting place. It has ample seating and the aesthetics are charming. The cashier was very nice and helped me select a specialty coffee. I selected the Aztec Mocha and it was a great selection. It was flavored very nicely with a hint of some spice. My friend got the yogurt parfait and a regular coffee. There is food on the menu but we didn't order any so I can't speak to that. The prices were reasonable. By the time we left around 10 am, the place was pretty full but there were still open seats available. Honestly looking around, it seemed like everyone was happy. Arcedium is the place that spells the GREATEST OF HOPES in so many ways. First and foremost, they're open for business while operating safely as possible. The space is as clean as a whistle, seating area roped off, tough plastic window separates checkout from customers, smiles abound. The specials, extensive. The menu, tremendous. The options, so many. The owner/manager, so helpful, so friendly, such a positive attitude, he made us feel that this too, will pass, with excellent coffee and treats along the way. We ordered a large Cappuccino, a medium Mocha Banana Arctic, a rice krispie treat and the most delicious/decadent Arcedium cookie. Worth every cent of the $17.00 I paid. Could have bought the whole store - as the pastries and treats in the glass case looked marvelous as the options were so plentiful and tempting. When in St. Charles or thinking of a road trip to the area, this is a definite worthwhile stop when these days, there's not much else to do. They have more savory options as well. The Fox River is only a short walk away, which can give a really nice and memorable afternoon which otherwise might strain to be another ho hum day. Finding myself in St. Charles with some frequency, I was pleased to find an enjoyable coffee hangout. Near the Fox River, part of some recent construction, the space is more Starbucks décor than a unique, quirky design. That said, the space is comfortable, unhurried. They have a long curved bar which offers a nice sitting for a conversation. And as for my latte, I'd say a good latte. We decided to come try this place out on a Saturday morning. During these trying times we want to make sure we are supporting small businesses and thought about this shop. I ordered a classic mocha with the chorizo and mozzarella quiche and my boyfriend ordered a dirty chai with the colosimo sandwich. The drinks were great and the quiche was delicious. The sandwich had fresh red peppers and was also really good. We also picked up a blueberry muffin that was very tasty.
