this is a cute coffee shop with lots of seating! many people were working on laptops and others seemed to be catching up with friends. the drinks were delicious and better than i expected. as far as what we ordered, we got a toasted marshmallow mocha, lucky charms latte, and regular latte. all were fantastic and not too sweet, and i would recommend tithe lucky charms latte to anyone who typically goes for vanilla lattes. the baklava latte also caught my attention and they had tons of flavored latte options! service was great! we actually came twice in the same day to overcome jet lag and the exhaustion that comes with a 4am wake up call! the baristas were kind and remade a drink that was ordered extra hot but came out lukewarm. overall, would recommend this small town coffee shop! read more

This place is large with alot of sitting options avaliable. You will notice the coffee roasting machines on the left. (Where you pick up your order.) Menu is the usual menu but they do have seasonal options, which I always enjoy trying. I asked for pumpkin nut latte with less sweet but it was still too sweet for me. My family tried other pumpkin drinks and they liked it. Some of the employees are really nice but some don't smile (at least to me) which is fine as long as they do my coffee nice which they do. This is definitely my #1 coffee shop around the area! I didn't even find any other coffee shop in Chicago that's better than Acredium. They serve high quality coffee. Their pastries come from local bakeries; one of them is cocoa bean in Geneva which is an excellent place I gave high Yelp rating as well. Everyone, yes literally every single person, is friendly and approachable to a degree that you'd be like - I'd like to come back for sure! My favorite item is their caramel latte. It is AMAZING. Definitely 10 out of 10. They use real caramel instead of caramel syrup other places use in the glass bottles. The flavor is just way better. The folks who work here are fast, friendly, and honestly look like they love their jobs which is refreshing. It could be because I've been binge watching Gilmore Girls, but Arcedium seriously reminds me of that small town charm on the show. It's a place where you can feel comforted by coffee and the company that surrounds you. They offer breakfast sandwiches, quiches, paninis, salads, baked goods, and more. Their drink menu boasts a handful of options with their seasonal drinks located up at the counter by the register. I was a little bummed I missed that because some Christmas cheer in a cup sounded delightful, but I already ordered my almond milk latte. I also tried to order their chorizo quiche, but by 10am they were already out so I opted for the tomato pesto quiche instead. My latte was amazing! Perfectly frothy and robust with flavor. I love the large personalized mug it came in. The quiche was really good, but definitely a lot smaller than I expected. It was obvious it was just a frozen pre-made quiche they warmed up, but it got the job done and was pretty tasty nonetheless. I use to go to this place all the time to support small business during the pandemic but when you need coffee fast or on the go, don't stop here. They are very unorganized and not time efficient. Its always 15 to 25+ minutes to get my coffee and they usually mix up the orders. This has happened more than 5x I've gone. Again I love supporting small business. I'd like to start off by saying I NEVER leave bad reviews, but after the experience I had here today, I feel like something needs to be said. My husband and I used to come here often, but after todays visit, we will never step foot into this business again. Our order was wrong two separate times, which is whatever, mistakes happen. But the way the mistake was handled by the barista working on 7.28.24 around 11:20AM was truly one of the most despicable ways I've ever been treated by a service worker in my life. I was extremely polite and nice when I informed her that my breakfast sandwich was incorrect. She looked at me with a very angry look and said "We have a bunch of orders right now so what do you want me to do?" I asked if I could get the correct thing that I ordered and paid for. She grabbed the box from me and slammed it on the counter and angrily stormed off. My husband and I looked at each other in disbelief, not understanding why we were in the wrong for wanting the correct sandwich that we ordered. I have food sensitivities so I have to be careful with the things I consume, and I meant no harm in asking for what I had ordered. My face turned bright red and I got a pit in my stomach because the employee made me feel as if I did something wrong by asking for that. I understand being frustrated and stressed when the place is busy, but to be so incredibly mean to a paying customer who has always loved Arcedium and supported their business is hurtful and uncalled for. I hope management cares enough about their customers to talk with their employees about having good customer service. Beautiful coffee shop near Indiana and 1rst in downtown St. Charles. A great place to go for a coffee and dessert after eating at one of the many fabulous retaurants along the Fox River. Arcedium is so big that I'm sure it's used a lot for business meetings or group events. The staff is very kind and you don't have to wait long for them to make you a coffee drink with an artsy design. There's a huge variety of healthy and delish treats to choose from behind the glass case. Love the flowers in the vases on the tables. This place is so spacious! I liked the homey vibe and the fast WiFi. I had a lavender latte, which was pretty good and very sweet. I love the huge bar in the center of the coffee house. I only wished this place opened later though, as it closes at 7pm. Artistic foam work. Delicious house blend coffee. Strong lattes. Drinks I've ordered: Chai tea latte-foam friendly, not too sweet, not too spice-ey. People who work here really like their jobs. Kokomate tea (cinnamon, roiboos). Just asked to have my tea re-warmed and they refilled it for me! Nutty almond cream iced tea($2.35 for a large). Only iced tea is black peach tea but will ice any of their offered hot teas. Breve latte for when I want something strong but sweet. During the summer they now offer affogato made with Kimmer's jamocha icecream ($3.75). I love love their soups! Savory chicken orzo soup. HAAAAAAAmazing! Zuppa toscana with small pebble pasta balls, light turkey meatballs. asparagus white cheddar soup was warm and filling. Their chicken tortilla soup is so yummy too! They're only offered in the fall and winter so make sure you get your fill! Gets pretty busy and crowded so time your visit right, go at or after lunch time. Also, if you need a little privacy with a group, they have a separate closed off room with 4 square tables that seat 4 people each. There is no charge to reserve the room. I will say this place can take a while to get things made sometimes. I've found myself waiting 20 minutes on a Saturday, though usually its less than 10 on weekdays. There is also a separate room for groups, which is nice (makes it more inviting for book clubs or the like). I am not a coffee drinker, but my Aztec hot chocolate was quite tasty: bittersweet with a hint of spice. I ordered a large, and the cappuccino-style cup it came in was a bit awkward to lift; not a terribly ergonomic handle. I hung out here for a few hours and wrote letters. I have to be honest, I didn't like the Arcedium before... Only because it smelled weird to me, but after going there about a week ago, I'm becoming a regular. I'm loving their White Chocolate Mocha, and their Aztec Mocha is awesome, too. The baristas are very friendly and actually care about the quality of your beverage. They also do latte art! I LOVE LATTE ART! There's a lot of seating, and they have a meeting room off to the side. The environment is very cozy, like a small town coffeeshop should be. I'll definitely be back! I happened across Arcedium due to a wrong turn. It's a couple blocks off the main strip in downtown St. Charles but worth the wander. Nice and spread out and very clean inside. Plus I really dig the bar where you can sit. The coffeehouse has free wifi but it could handle a few extra power outlets so people can charge their devices as they browse the web. The menu has some diversity to it but I have no idea how much customization is available as I only ordered a straight-up menu item (Aztec Mocha). It has a coffee shop-meets diner-meets your living room kinda feel to it. We came here for a quick warm up after being outside. I ordered the toasted Marshmallow Mocha and my husband ordered the Cinnamon Creme Latte. This is where Arcedium (insert squeaky high reluctant voice here) just couldn't earn that last star. My mocha had all the syrup-y goodness on the bottom of my mug. Insert sad face here. Which, I think, is a common problem most mochas face. But I felt the entire drink was king of "eh". The Cinnamon Creme however was a delight! It seems like they roast their own beans so that is a def P-L-U-S in my book. The place was packed, and it's no wonder why. For our purposes, it was also very important that they had some basic food items (a few salads, paninis, and a soup of the day), as I was starving, but the fiancee was only interested in a hot chocolate. There is even a sign basically saying you can be helped, but she simply dismissed him, books in hand even after I explained he's had it here before and we've come here for years.
