This is easily my favorite coffee shop in the area! Everyone is always friendly and the drinks are tasty.

I have been to this quaint, classy coffeehouse on several occasions with my dear friend, and I typically receive top-notch service from the handsome baristas behind the counter. Mike is so funny and sweet and he recommended a delicious drink to me that changed the way I look at seasonal drinks. Sometimes he makes jokes that are in poor taste, but they are usually pretty funny, and I overlook it, because he is such a fricking cutie pie. Dave is also super sweet and dreamy. Super. Dreamy. Tell Mike to make you a Chai-der. Try and hit this place a little after 6, because before 6, it's jazzy and mellow, but after 6, they pump my favorite club hits. Uhntz. read more

I've been going here for the past year now and I've NEVER been disappointed. From delicious coffee that is roasted on site to the tasty pastries and delicious Panini's, the quality of the products is unmatched. The service is always friendly, welcoming, and prompt. Arcedium is a wonderful coffee shop. It has an inviting, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. I had a caramel apple cider and man was it delicious! Great coffee and absolutely AMAZING atmosphere, the ONLY thing that doesn't warrant 5 stars is the wait times (which just shows that it's popular for a reason). The food is also quite good. Fresh baked pastries from a local bakery in the town over (the cocoa bean). If your in a hurry on the way to work you might have to settle for some of the "other guys". However, if you've got a couple minutes and want to support local business at a more than reasonable price then this is your best bet for the best coffee. read more

I always try to give this play a second chance and I don't know why. Actually, I do - they make a good dirty chai and peanut butter flax seed bar. However, service is inconsistent. Sunday morning and the place is packed and they reserve the meeting room. Seriously, you could turn those tables over quicker than people occupying it for two hours! Coffee is mediocre as evidenced by the table that I cleared off with a warm latte that was left not drunk. No sweets in the bakery bad but considering the bagels and muffins come from Costco, you are not missing much. One of my favorite coffee houses. Mostly go here for their packaged coffee beans. Best coffee house in the area offering excellent coffee bean choices. My son is a coffee snob and loves their coffee and always buys their packaged coffee beans. Clean, spacious, nicely decorated and helpful staff. Next to the fox river path, making it a good stop while biking or walking on the path. They offer typical coffee house food and snacks about equal to a Starbucks. They are open late enough for an early evening stop. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a coffee house. read more

I have had only very positive experiences with Arcedium. My boyfriend and I travel specifically to Arcedium from downtown Chicago [an hour trip or more] once or twice a month while we are in the suburbs for the weekend. We love coffee and going to new shops, however, Arcedium is our favorite and remains so. A year or so ago, I had ordered coffee from Arcedium online because I knew I would not have time to take a trip out there. Unfortunately, they never received my order even though the payment was processed. After over month or so of not receiving my coffee, I gave them a call and spoke to Dennis [who I believe is the manager/owner maybe?] Anyway, I have never been so delighted to speak with someone over the phone. Dennis was absolutely apologetic and understanding of the situation, I was no where near angry or upset, but Dennis made sure that I would remain a customer after the incident. I was impressed with his timeliness on fixing the situation and care of the business. Not once before, during or after the incident have I thought to take my business somewhere else. And I still remain as frequent a customer as I can be. Love the atmosphere, the staff, and of course, the coffee. :) Oh, if only there was one closer to the city [or in the city], I would go everyday! read more

Arcedium is another overrated place in the Fox Valley area that everyone gushes about and one that receives a ton of "unbiased" awards but one that I find very hit and miss, mostly miss. I used to come here every day, years ago as well as recently, and I was so disappointed by the lack of consistency in the drinks, and the staff, that I ended up switching to 318, which is so much better. The coffee here, like I said, is very inconsistent as all the different, constantly rotating, baristas never seem to follow any one set of directions, something even Starbucks has down to an art. I often found that unless the baristas I liked actually made my coffee the quality would be abhorrent and a waste of, quite a bit, of money and I hate wasting my money like that. But, most of the other patrons always seem so thrilled, and rich, that it does not matter to them what goes into their cup so long as they get to sit and show themselves off in their new yoga pant; but that's the Fox Valley for you. If you are looking for an actual quality coffee, great homemade gelato and friendly service, with consistent staff and management, go to Graham's 318 in Geneva. read more

Coffee is amazing and tons of choices! Food is tasty too. Wish there was more comfortable seating. The service is terrible. Very slow, I feel like the baristas are more interested in flirting with all the young girls that come in. Hard to know when your order is ready. The ambiance isn't as cozy and warm as some of the other reviews lead me to believe. Instead it felt a little more sterile (save for the spilled coffee beans on the floor here and there). I wasn't greeted right away when I entered. Instead I hovered by the register/menu for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged that I was there. It wasn't even busy. There were only a handful of people scattered about already sitting with their drinks. They have a few arm chairs that looked relatively comfortable right when you walk in, but with the cold winter breeze following patrons in through the entrance it wasn't an ideal area to sit. Maybe during the summer it would be fine. I ordered a cappuccino that was pretty solid, and a cinnamon roll that was incredibly disappointing. They didn't warm it like most coffee shops/cafes do. It was dry yet oddly chewy. It gave the impression of being soft and pillowy but when I bit into it I literally had to rip it from my mouth to break off a piece. That's how stale it was. I ended up not eating it. The struggle wasn't worth it. I won't be returning. read more

I love the coffee here and have noticed a notable decline in service this past year. I love supporting the independent coffee shop, however, wonder if they will make it with Starbucks just moving down the street. I was here this morning, it's a hot day, it felt like 90 degrees inside, did they forget to turn the air down? It was busy and I waited almost 25 minutes for my drink. Is anyone managing this shop anymore? The young folks are nice, but they usually have one barista and it's slow during busy times. I am leaving the area and will no longer frequent Arcedium. Hands down best coffee place I've ever been to in this area, in fact I made an account just to make this review! The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable, always clarifying to make sure what you want and what you ordered match. I've never gotten something I haven't enjoyed, whether it be coffee, a pastry, or one of their amazing paninis (the cheese melt is my favorite, just the right amount of spice to liven things up). In addition, the atmosphere is very warm and inviting, making me want to stay and enjoy coffee for hours! If you haven't been here yet, you absolutely must. read more

Coffee and staff are great. Much of the clientele - not so much. Loud conversations about boring parent/church/real estate stuff. I know. What kind of conversations should I expect in the suburbs, right? For some reason these conversations are more obtrusive and the people engaged in them seem to have a more inflated sense of self-importance than at other coffee places in the area, though. Arcedium serves 5-Star coffee with 1-star service. It is so unfortunate that we can not rely on consistency in service and staff. You never know how long you will wait or if your your drink is going to be right. The reason why so many people frequent Starbucks and the like is because you can be certain that your drink will be accurate and quickly served. We would love to see Arcedium succeed because their product it so superb, but we do not always have the time to sit and wait...and wait...and wait...and then get the wrong drink...we would rather go to Starbucks. read more

I had pretty high hopes for this place as it has received good reviews on Yelp. However when I came here on a Sunday afternoon, I was disappointed. I ordered a regular blonde small coffee. Basic and easy. First of all, it took at least 15 minutes for me to get my drink even after coming up to the counter to remind them of my drink. They made the complicated lattes faster than my regular coffee! Secondly, they made the blonde coffee watery. The coffee had no depth or taste to it; it was simply watery and bland. I asked for a replacement and their roast was still uninteresting. Third, the place was overly short staffed and decreased the overall experience. Lastly, the bathroom wasn't managed well and they didn't have handsoap. The only redeeming factor was the atmosphere and environment, which I enjoyed. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed by my experience and will not come back until they improve their coffee. read more

I LOVE this place. It can get super busy at some points in the day as so many people like to come and meet up with friends or just sit and relax or work on their laptops. Stopped here today with my daughter since it was a chilly morning and we wanted coffee and chai tea to warm us up before hitting the farmer's market. They weren't overly busy but it took 20 minutes for our order to come out. I was quickly losing my patience! Also when I got my chai tea latte, medium, it was very light weight because at least half the to-go cup was foam. Paid a lot of money for foam. Don't think we will be going back. read more

Great coffee shop. Walking in, you think that you are in a small restaurant: a setup of four-seat tables, a good size closed-off area for private events, and a large circular bar area for individuals to sit. If coffee were a food, this would be it's cafe. I wish that more coffee shops were setup like this. Had some spare time in the area and stopped by for a cup of coffee. Enjoyed the Aztec mocha, and will return again when in the area.

Best espresso in town. The barista was knowledgeable and very nice. The curved bar around their roasting machine is a nice touch.

I'm a regular at Arcedium... I enjoy their coffee much more than any other local shop, including Starbucks! Blech! I'm always glad to see Scott behind the bar because he makes the best latte drinks. (Everyone else is good too!) I'll keep going here every day for my cup of joe since the atmosphere is great and the people we have met (other patrons and staff alike) now feel like family! read more

Waited 30 minutes for oatmeal, checked with girl behind the counter, she said they were a little backed up in the kitchen, i said 'no problem, just checking on my order', Waited another 30 minutes, still no oatmeal (although a guy that showed up after me got a bowl of oatmeal somehow). After waiting 1 hour i was no longer hungry, had already drank all my coffee, so i took my number up to the front counter and all i got was a deer in the headlights looking back at me with her mouth open, no apology, no offer of refund, so i told them to give my oatmeal to another customer for free. Coffee was good, shop is has nice atmosphere, staff behind counter offer up big smiles at first but aren't good at following thru with simple orders or how to handle customers. read more

You can tell the owner has a passion for his product here. He serves some of the best coffee I have ever had. His shop has a warm cozy feel to it and is a comfortable place to enjoy your coffee. positives: some of the coffees are real winners; breakfast pastries and sandwiches have just enough variety and good quality; prices are much lower than you would find in chain coffee houses for the same volumes on drinks or same sizes on foods could be better: colors are really dark against a shade of beige, basically - not very appealing; furniture is pretty lame too - lots of cookie cutter stuff; some of the coffees are not bad but just don't have a flavor to make you want a second cup are you kidding(s)?: there's little to no space for walking through the main area when the place is busy; responsiveness of cashiers varies greatly depending on their being familiar with folks - if you're not a regular, you'll be lucky to sense any energy from them read more

Best little coffee house in the far Western Suburbs. I normally order the house blend and my wife has a smoothie. Both are always happy with our choices as they are perfectly made and customizable - the barista will make it pretty much how you want it.
