Archie Moore's is soooo underrated!!! This is the spot for a good time, to watch sports, enjoy a drink and a meal! The staff is also amazing here too, i'm always met with a smile and a big welcome! Came here for St Patties Day and we got a huge plate of Corn Beef Nachos that were delish! We also got Mozz Sticks (that my friend rated just okay) and Garlic Pretzel Sticks that perfectly drenched and delicious! For mains, we tried their Mongolian Beef Pita, Chili Cheese Fries, Boneless Wings, Cajun Fries, and a Jalapeno Burger and those plates were CLEAN by the end!! A friend and I were on the CT Beer Trail around the corner and wanted something to eat so we chose Archies which is located in a really cool brownstone building and has the choice of inside or out. The staff were friendly and attentive. Archies has the same menu in all locations so I chose the Charleston chicken sandwich and my friend had the blackened cod sandwich with sweet potato fries. I liked this place, girlfriend not so much. But these are my reviews so oh well. Chowder was thick and delicious. Fish was hot and sweet potato fries were spot on. Enjoyed the outdoor seating on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Great service and accommodating the service dog with a water bowl was nice too. We were starving and just wanted to grab a quick bite and drink at the bar. It was busy but service was great. We got wings, fries and half an order of nachos. I was craving nachos and wings but knew we couldn't eat it all. The bartender suggested a half order of nachos. Perfect! And we were also able to get all flats for wings! Overall it was a very pleasant visit . The bartender was extremely patient and helped my group decide what would be best to get on the menu and with drinks. The wings were very good with slight kick for the buffalo. The ambiance tonight was loud and very cold even though I was situated at the end of the bar away from the door. Great food, great service. While Archie Moore's is famously known for their wings you really can't go wrong with any menu item. Today we partook in the Reuben sandwich, chicken tortilla soup, buffalo wings and steak and cheese quesadilla. Everything was good. Stopped by a few days ago. Hadn't been in quite awhile. We ordered the pulled pork nachos. They were okay. The pulled pork sauce was a bit sweet for my liking but they were okay. Calamari. They were good. Typical, not overcooked so that was good, nothing making them super tasty. We ordered buffalo wings, raspberry chipotle and the tai chili. Raspberry was great. The buffalo were good. The tai chili had no flavor which is odd but they just tasted like fried plain wings. The Guiness was fresh so that was nice. The service was great. Hostess and waitstaff very pleasant. The ambiance is rustic. It was packed so it was a bit noisy but every table was filled and people were waiting so that was expected. I've tried a lot of wings that are closer to home for me, so unless I'm in the area I wouldn't go out of my way to go there . Parking is on a Main Street with other restaurants so we had a hike when we finally found a spot. There are stairs to get in if that's an issue for some. read more

Great downtown Wallingford location, in a tavern setting. Went in around 4:15 on a Thursday, as it was a hot day, and I was craving a cold beer and chicken wings. Since I was in Wallingford, this was the obvious choice... a no brainer. The Miller draft was cold, literally poured in front of me. Ahhhhh hit the spot. I couldn't resist an order of calamari, gently deep fried, with a lemon wedge and simple marinara, which was a perfect combination of tomato garlic and onion. But the real deal is the chicken wings, perfectly deep fried, with a medium wing sauce. Frekin amazing! Perfect... In my opinion, better than J Tims! If you are in the area, this is a must try! Went to Archie's for the first time in awhile- staff was very friendly though it seemed like they just had 3 people between the bar and the floor. I will say when a game is on, it can get very noisy and crowded, especially as the bar is not super big in the first place/ there is not room for larger TVs like other sports bars. The location is nice in the center of Wallingford. The food came in very large portions, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the salad was though chicken was maybe a little bland. I had previously mainly gone for their nachos which are a great bar snack! Overall I wouldn't drive from out of town to go here but it is a decent spot if looking for a local bar with some games on. read more

Great vibes, great food. Also, great service! We walked in on a Monday afternoon sat down right away by the window, such a cute street it's on and the dark wood tavern vibes are very comforting. Everyone was very relaxed and friendly we never had to ask for anything they were on top of everything- extra plates/napkins plenty of water refills. 4 star food - 3 star seating so incredibly crowded in tables more so on the right side of the restaurant than the left. The food is always good - our faves are mozz sticks, pulled pork nachos (1/2 order), potato skins, grilled cheese, and their fries are always good too. We sat at the bar and enjoyed some drinks prior to ordering our food. I got a Shipyard Pumpkin draft with a cinnamon and sugar rim! Omg I live for Fall!! Beer list is pretty expansive with local craft beers. i ordered the Sausalito wrap. It was filled with jalapeños, monterey jack cheese, tender pieces of chicken, salsa & sour cream. I got it with sweet potato fries. They were cooked perfectly, nice & crisp. My meal was really good. One of my friends ordered the steak & cheese and said it was really good. My other friend got the Cobb salad with salmon and raves about it the whole time she was eating it. We will be back for sure!! I tend to have themes when I select restaurants over a few weeks. Recently, I've been revisiting old favorites that I lost track of for various reasons. That brings me to Archie Moore's. Everybody has their things. One of my things - chicken wings. It may still be the case without me knowing it, but I used to see Archie Moore's on various Best Chicken Wing Lists several years ago. That of course drew me to Archie Moore's in Wallingford and in New Haven. I never lived nearby, but I went there several times over the course of several years because I liked their Buffalo wings, Buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing a lot. I used to plan certain business meetings so that I could eat Archie Moore's. Ultimately, I discovered a Buffalo wing place that is closer to home that I like better, and another two wing places that I prefer if I'm willing to drive a bit longer. After retrying Archie Moore's wings yesterday, I still think they're very good, but for me, they're a step down from the other places. That won't stop me from visiting occasionally though, and if I lived closer, I'd definitely go more often. read more

I used to work nearby in Meriden and we'd always come to Archie Moore's when welcoming a new employee, celebrating a birthday or a promotion, and I haven't been back in years! That all changed this weekend when we were in the Wallingford area and a friend asked where we should get food. Glad they asked me, because I knew exactly where to go. I ALWAYS ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, it's the best around. I needed to see if it was as good as I remembered. We ordered takeout and brought it to a nearby brewery. Let me tell you, the wrap was just as good as I remembered, even with the takeout. The fries and wrap were a little soggy, but everything still tasted great. I always ordered an extra a side of buffalo sauce for my fries, and love that they still honored that for free! You can easily order online for quick pickup. So happy Archie Moore's was just as good as I remembered years prior. read more

I arrived when they first opened and so I did not experience any of the hosting issues that others have as of recent. Everything came out promptly but let us begin with the Philly cheesesteak Quesadilla...OUCH!! My mouth drowned in their pool of grease and so I was not able to even enjoy any of the flavor (if it did exist) for I was too busy trying to determine as to which type of grease was poured over my Quesadilla after it was cooked in grease. After tossing that plate to the side, I proceeded to get at their Waffle Fries and they were just ok. Nothing that was seasoned and so I would recommend adding your own salt here but they had a decent crisp and the potato was just ok. Hell, if nothing else; they helped to absorb the grease from the Philly cheesesteak Quesadilla!!! Now from what I had heard, Archie Moore's is the place to go for WINGS and so I went with both their Buffalo Wings and their Peach Chipotle wings. My recommendation, eat the Buffalo wings first if you happen to go with both flavors for the Peach Chipotle sauce will EASILY drown out the Buffalo Sauce. The Peach Chipotle sauce was everything in way of heat, sweetness and the deliver on its bite! Wings fried to a great crisp with enough meat to satisfy most wing lovers. I found myself devouring each wing with glee but by the time I got over to the Buffalo Wing, it was lack luster in comparison. My tastebuds weren't as excited and for every Buffalo Wing I had in the past from other locations, this just barely hit the mark in flavor and experience. Great to see that people seem to be returning to restaurants...but they really need more help. A lot more. We stood in line with several other parties while a very flustered hostess ran back and forth, finally took our name, and asked us to sit outside. On a public bench, mind you. A few minutes of that and we walked across the street and scored a table immediately. Other parties walked away also. Sad to say that Archie's didn't earn our business this time.
