Good food and staff are needed for me to give 5 stars and today (lunch was a winner. A tad noisy but big enough for you to have your own space so not really a problem. Mrs. had a grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun and I had a buffalo chicken wrap also gluten free which was great! The chicken was breaded and roasted so crunchy and made a nice wrap combined with the buffalo sauce. Now the people. The hostess alerted us that one seating option had a couple steps so we could avoid that issue (We are not young). Very aware of her. Everyone who we encountered was smiling and happy and that's only a bonus. You don't always get that. There is a complete gluten-free menu and full drink menu with NA choices too. We shared two sangria pitchers, which were very fruity and tasted like juice (I say that in a good way!). We started with the Mac and cheese flatbread, which was a hit at the table. Food took a while to come despite being fairly empty- though it was during a snow storm so may have just been short staffed. I liked the blackened chicken penne and thought it had good spice to it. Stopped into Wood-N-Tap in Wallingford for a casual meal at the bar. The food itself was solid -- everything came out hot, flavorful, and well-prepared. Definitely above average for typical pub fare. Unfortunately, the service at the bar really took away from the experience. It took a long time to get greeted, and once I ordered, the bartender seemed distracted and not very attentive -- drinks sat empty for a while, and it felt like I was an afterthought even though it wasn't that busy. My husband and stopped in yesterday 03/11/2026 and I must let everyone know that I had a wonderful experience. From the food to the service everything was great. It was my first time at Wood N Tap and honestly, I had no idea what to expect. My server was Chris, I kid you not he made this experience even better. He considered the fact that it was our first time there, he made sure he greeted us and explained all the questions on the menu. Chris even gave suggestions for substitutions according to certain foods. He was cheerful and answered all our questions, very patient and made us want to go back. Especially for the cost and portion size. Bacon Cheeseburger was 15.99... includes fries, but if you add curly fries, seasoned fries or sweet potato fries it's $2.49 extra... so for a burger and curly fries it's at $20. And the hamburger was a good size but the up charged fries were minimal. Give the people an adequate amount for the costs. This isn't fine dining. Fill the plate! read more

We arrived to the restaurant @ 1:30 ish. We were seated at the booth we had requested. The waitress arrived about 10 minutes later and took our order. We waited for 30 minutes for our food to arrive, the waitress came by and said the food will be out shortly...10 minutes later it arrived. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage and my daughter ordered Chicken Nacho's. The corned beef was dry, and the cabbage and potatoes had no seasoning whatsoever. Not even butter was given with my meal until I could finally get the attention of the waitress and asked for some. The Chicken Nachos that my daughter ordered were soggy and tasted burnt to her. I have lived here in Wallingford for 9 months and this was my second visit here, both times poor service . I will definitely not return again. If the restaurant was really busy, I would cut them some slack, but there were very few tables with customers seated at them. I know that costs have gone up everywhere, but paying over $50 for a terrible lunch is inexcusable . read more

Wood-n-Tap is a local chain of casual American pubs that was founded in 2002. The chain was founded by business partners Phil Barnett and Mike Hamlin. My family and I recently stopped at Wood-n-Tap's Wallingford location. We were out running errands late in the area and were getting hungry so we decided to stop for dinner. Although I've been to several Wood-n-Tap locations, this was my first time visiting the Wallingford location. The place was all decorated for the Holiday season and the staff were friendly and attentive. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Lamb Harissa Burger" (mint aioli, arugula, tomato topped with feta cheese and pickled red onions) with Parmesan Tater Tots. The meat was so juicy and delicious and it was complimented by the toppings and spices. That burger really hit the spot! My wife ordered the "Dirty Chicken Sandwich" (crispy chicken with a hint of spice, avocado, lettuce and chipotle aioli) with Sweet Potato Fries and my son had the "Kids-a-Dilla" with French Fries off of the Kid's Menu. I had one of their winter specials, which was grilled shrimp with a chimichurri sauce and spinach. Absolutely delicious. My son had filet medallions and he liked them. My nephew had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. He didn't like the burger, but he never really eats anything when we go out, so I'm sure it was fine. I'll have to try the one in my area next time. To start we got the spinach and artichoke dip and it was cheesy, warm, and delicious. There was definitely none left after. For drinks we got a pitcher of their baja punch and it was a good drink. Not to sweet but still fruity and good amount of booze in it. For my main entree I got the baby back ribs. They were very tender and had such great flavor like the Smokey and the bbq. I ordered a Hudson Baby Bourbon to try, affordable at less than $9, AND served correctly NEAT, in a Glencairn glass. Off to a good start. Classic burger, cooked perfectly. A little messy but that's what napkins are for. Wait staff was great. Will be back. Update: I returned last Saturday night and it was a complete 180. So delicious! We came here at 6pm sharp for Friday night dinner before the movie theater behind the restaurant. The place was PACKED but we luckily got a table since we had a family of 6. Service was a little slow due to the amount of people, definitely not their problem and it's just the fact we came at a busy time. I suggest coming during some off-hours. I ordered their non-alcoholic ginger kombucha and it was so delicious I gulped it down so fast. Then we had nachos for the table and they were very good. I ordered the gluten free penne alla vodka, and I was surprised at how many gluten free substitutions they had here! I also got the Cesar salad without croutons and it was so absolutely delicious. I've tried Wood N Tap twice now. Both take out. The service is always friendly, although not always the most knowledgeable. The food is just okay, I'd venture to say some things are slightly overpriced, but it happens! The first time I ordered I just Gott a couple of sides, mashed potatoes and French fries. I actually really love the mashed potatoes, super garlicky and delicious. The next time I ordered, I got the nachos and more potatoes. Weird orders, I know, but it was never really a meal time, just a snack! The nachos are HUGE! They're also really good, and I'd definitely order them again. However, this time, my mashed potatoes came with fried onions on them? It doesn't mention this on the online menu, and it didn't have them on the first order, so I'm not sure which is the correct answer. I ordered the fish and chips for my dinner. when the waiter brought it out to me one look at it and it looked so dry and the 2 pieces were extremely small. I tried it and it was horrible. overcooked and dry like I thought. I mentioned to the waiter my disappointment and all I got was an I'm sorry. He didn't offer me another dinner or any money off the bill, heck even something! no, nothing. I will NEVER visit this establishment again. save yourself a visit. The food at this location was awful. 8/2/20. The Wallingford outlet has a terrific set-up outside, in a portion of their very large parking lot, with two large tents and tables with generous social distancing. It's comfortable and re-assuring to patrons. They have a separate entrance for the area, aside from their indoor dining room that is also open with restrictions. I've not been inside since the coronavirus fiasco, and cannot speak to that aspect. I've visited on 4 separate occasions in the past several weeks, and it is by far, my for now, go to place to meet with friends for lunch. They offer better than average fare, for a mid-level chain restaurant. Loved the bacon Mac & cheese. Burgers are above average as well. Chowder and chili are about what you'd expect from a chain restaurant. Good.... not great, but they do serve shredded cheddar cheese , and fresh diced onions on it, which adds a few points. read more

We were pretty dissatisfied with our time here at Wood n Tap in Wallingford, CT. It started off very nicely: we were greeted right away, seated right away and the hostess was super nice. The server did come to the table within the first five minutes and even brought our drinks pretty quickly. So we made our order and it took about 45 minutes for us to get our food. That was disappointing. So I ordered the clam chowder. It was alright. I LOVE a good thick and creamy clam chowder. This did not disappoint. I'm not sure if they use chicken stock or not because it was kind of yellowish. Then I had their fall menu halibut. It was just ok. It really needed salt. I asked the server if the squash under was puréed and she said it was. I'm not a big lover of squash, but I'll eat it if it's mashed/puréed. Anyway. She said it was. Then, it came julienned. I mean really, the whole dish lacked flavor. My daughter had the penne a la vodka. It was just ok. It needed salt, too. My husband had the bison burger and he really liked it, though he thought it also needed salt. And, the bun's outer edge was definitely stale. The bison burger touted a chipotle seasoning but he didn't even taste the chipotle until the last bite. ‍ Finally, I had the ultimate gin and tonic and their apple bourbon mule. The G&T was super weak - especially if you're going to call it ultimate. The mule was not good at all. We would not go back to this restaurant. So the other day while doing laundry, my BFF and I decided we were hungry and was trying to figure out what we wanted, and where to go. We ended up not far from the laundry mat, and landed at the Wood N Tap in Wallingford CT. As we walked in we were nicely greeted and brought to our seats. The Dragon Fruit Sangria was the drink highlighted for the day, so my bff ordered that and I love my whiskey sours so I had one of those. We decided we wanted to get something to share, so she ordered Chicken Tenders or Strips. And I ordered the Bison Bites both came with fries. Honey mustard sauce on the side for the Tenders/Strips. So the Bison Bite are mini Bison burgers with a little Chipotle, topped with a avocado aoli,American Cheese and frizzled Onions! Me loving anything with Onions was very content, they were delicious. I had 2 and the other 2 for my bff as I had 2 of her chicken Strips/Tenders. Fried just right not hard but nice and crispy. So basically we made our own Wood N Tap Sampler Meal .
