Dr. TAL SOLOMON is the owner of Arch Vet. He refused to refill ear drops for head tilt for my rabbit which he'd prescribed in the past April 26, 2025 (today is May 30, 2026). The dismissive receptionist said that if it was over a year they wouldn't refill the medication. It has been short of 13 months!!!!! I asked her to recheck with him. She said she did. Head tilt is severe, sudden, and obvious. The receptionist spoke of their one year refill policy in a dismissive way. A life is on the line and Dr. Solomon's behavior is unacceptable!!! How sad to not value a life and yet to have been given so so much! Prideful privilege! He also charges WAY too much. They OVER DOUBLED their pet visit fees and their meds went way up. I DON'T RECOMMEND DR. TAL SOLOMON. Find a doctor that cares about your pets lives. Is he gonna save your fur babies lives or does he have too many excuses why not? Update: My dog was diagnosed with CHF on November and was put on Vetmedin and Furosemide. I'm glad to say that 4 months later, after all of Dr. Solomon's recommendations, my dog's symptoms of coughing and wheezing has improved and her blood work results are all back to normal! This clinic is very close to our home, which is a big plus for cats who don't enjoy long car rides. We've seen multiple vets there and they are all knowledgeable and compassionate; my dear departed shy boy cat Brodie especially liked Dr. Solomon, he was so gentle and would sit on the floor with our cats and make them feel safe. We sadly recently lost 2 of our cats to cancer, which was absolutely devastating, but the doctors at ArchVet were willing to give them both a fighting chance and at no point did I feel pressured in any direction. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because you will pay $$$$ here, even for simple prescriptions. But for us it's better than driving cats long distances, especially when it's urgent (like when Brodie had a urinary blockage years ago that they were able to treat quickly and send him home the same night). read more

We recently got another pup and when he started acting strange, we decided that it was better safe than sorry and we should take him to an emergency vet. I looked up the closest one to our house and found ARCHVET. First impressions: This place is so nice!!! I've been to many an emergency vet in the area, and this is the first one that doesn't look super depressing/scary. It kind of gives off dog boutique vibes. There is a couch to wait, dog toys and clothes for sale, lots of pics, etc. The front desk was very friendly, and we were immediately taken into a room to wait. Both the vet tech who saw us and the vet were amazing and so friendly. At the end of the day... nothing was wrong with my puppy other than he was a little full / nauseous after eating and running around.. so they gave him an anti-nausea shot and sent us on our way. The next day I was SHOCKED to receive a follow up call making sure he was doing well (again... he had mild indigestion lol) and received a thank you card in the mail. I mean... SO cute!! The techs and the doctor were very kind and patient with me. They answered all of my questions and provided quick solutions for my dog. This clinic holds a D- rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which I unfortunately discovered only after a troubling experience involving: Misleading advertising: They claim to offer 24/7 or 8am-1am urgent care, but when I called at 9:30pm for an emergency, I was told they were closed and was scheduled for the next morning. They also promote "affordable prices," yet comparable clinics typically charge $200-$300 for an exam, drainage, and medication--even in emergencies. I was quoted over $1,800 for drainage alone, over $2800 in total. Unclear pricing: I asked in advance about the expected cost range for the drainage procedure but was told no estimate could be provided until I came in. Had I known the price beforehand, I would not have visited, as I already understood my pet's condition and the specific treatment needed. They insisted on an exam before the drainage, even though I made it clear drainage was the only procedure I needed. The vet initially refused to remove my pet from the carrier, said she could observe her through it, and didn't check the vent area at all. I had to hold the bird myself. No new evaluation or diagnostic diseases was given, just a repetition of the medical history I had already submitted. A second vet I visited afterward performed a proper hands-on exam and confirmed tumor progression. After I disputed the charge and left, I received messages referencing police involvement and a claim that I had engaged in "hit and run," even though my vehicle remained completely stationary until their staff stepped away. The tone of those follow-up messages was extremely unprofessional and disturbing. I'm disputing the charge not because I couldn't afford it,I've spent thousands on my bird's care, but because I believe it's wrong to exploit people's love for their pets through inflated pricing and misleading advertising. I came here for the first time 1.5 years ago when my puppy was under a year old and swallowed a foreign object around midnight. I was able to get checked in quickly and everyone was so friendly that night, with lots of empathy and love towards my pup. Now coming back a year and a half later, I called in today because my pup was vomiting blood. I'm not sure why, but the vibe of the receptionist, the vet tech, and even the veterinarian was not as.... "happygoing." Previously, everyone would come in from the door, greet us with happy energy, and be very friendly with my dog. Happy voices and petting her and letting her lick them. Now it's like when the vet tech didn't want to hold my dog even though I told her she was friendly. She jolted when my dog turned around to lick her face. Then she gave me a leash cause they need to take her back. She didn't want to carry her in the back (which most vet places do carry them) and I said, oh she's friendly. Then she was like "Yeah, but not all dogs are." So I'm not sure why she said that. Maybe she got bitten once? I get that they have to be professional and I understand they're just protecting themselves from being bitten (as I was a previous vet assistant intern), but I think it was a bit unwelcome. After waiting for the doctor to help check her in, she didn't push us for anything other than recommendations, but being that my dog is still alert and happy, we wouldn't need an x-ray or possible bloodwork or anything done. So I just went with Cerenia injection (which I probably don't need but she does get car motion sickness, and I rather not have her throw up in the car with blood anyway) and Sucralfate. Both were overly priced and 2x more than other vets cost (sadly her vet was closed at 6 pm so we ended up here). I felt they were more about the money because they also put estimates of other things that the doctor said we probably wouldn't need but "here, just in case" slap on the quote. I probably won't come back here for any emergency. The vibe is very different than it was a year and a half ago. Less empathic. An extra star for being patient with me, because I know was a being a bit difficult to have them say and repeat the steps for my dog's medication and going over the estimates, as I had only lack of sleep and a 9 hour long day after work.... read more

LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!! Took my dog here when he had an accident at the dog park. They were beyond transparent about the pricing. Dr. Kong is AMAZING ! No wait time when we came in, very professional and knows what she is doing. The price was around $1200 for an exam fee, deep cleaning of the wound on the ear, shaving of the wound, 3 different types of medication, and a professionally wrapped bandage to keep the ear in place for healing. Very average pricing for the vet. The next day they called in to see how he was doing. The bandage started slipping off and they got us in within the hour to reinforce the bandage. Doctor took a look at wound and said it is healing well and fixed the bandage. All for no cost. Very thoughtful and thorough care even 24 hours after. They went over every item listed on invoice before starting anything and made sure we approved. Wonderful care !!! Thank you Dr. Kong. We will be using you as our primary vet now due to your reliable and loving care ! Also facility is extremely clean and looks so nice. We love this place. read more

I only give bad reviews when I'm really upset and truly feel they deserve this review. And this business has really disappointed one too many times. Firstly, they're really bad with sending follow-ups and emails. The first time we were here, they didn't send us an email confirmation of the appointment when they said they would, so we had to confirm by phone again to make sure it was set. When we went in, they had the correct email address, so I'm not sure why they didn't send it. And don't even bother asking them for confirmation emails on conversations you had over the phone and in person; the person at the front desk said she didn't know how to do them. Secondly, they are extremely expensive. I could have declined the test my pet got, but I was in a hurry, as I was worried for my pet and felt we needed to get it done asap. The front desk and Dr. Solomon confirmed with me that they would send me the results within a week, and I got nothing even though it had been over a week. I also requested to get some documents for my pet, and they also told me it would take no longer than 7 days. Yet again, nothing. I had to call them, and of course with no surprise, I was disappointed with their answer. They told me they forgot to put in the request for the forms, and I would have to wait another 7 days to get that in (there was no way I could get this expedited even though I waited over a week for it), and the results for the test were ALREADY out, however, they never bothered to call or email me the results. Only when I called to ask about the results over a week later were they even going to go over the results with me. The person at the front desk told me that the results were already out, and Dr. Solomon would go over the results with me after he came in. I gave them another try because they were nice initially (I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt), but it only seems to be an initial tactic to get people to come in. I have been to other local vets that are way more worth it and more competent. I do not recommend coming here, and I definitely will not be returning. I don't trust them to care for or about my pet. TL;DR: ArchVet staff overdosed my cat on tranquilizers in the afternoon, didn't tell me, and tried guilting me into paying them over 10K to fix it later that night when my cat was almost unresponsive. They have still not sent me his medical records. When I dropped one of my pills early this afternoon, my cat snatched it right up so I needed to induce vomiting ASAP per poison control's recommendation. I wrongly thought he would be in good hands here. I called ahead, arrived at an empty clinic, and still had to wait the entire afternoon to be helped since other patients kept dropping in after us. The vet told me she was worried because my cat was EXTREMELY out of it after they finally administered his emetic, so they reversed it with Antisedan. They recommended that I pay 7k+ to hospitalize my boy, which I had to decline twice since it is outright unaffordable to me at this time no matter how much I love him. Nearly $500 later, my cat was acting completely drunk when we got home, refusing food, was almost non-responsive, and wet himself horribly on several pieces of furniture to the point where we need to throw them away. ArchVet did not advise me further over the phone when I called. They told me to come back in, that it would cost me way more than $7K to "save my pet's life" at this rate and I'd need to fork over at least another $200 for a brand new consultation at ArchVet since a different vet was on call. I remembered the employee who was freaked out about his reaction to the Xylazine and wondered if they had administered the reversal at all. I wanted a second opinion and a different vet agreed that my cat totally seemed like he was still on sedative drugs. I took him to an entirely different clinic on the other side of town where I learned he was overdosed on Xylazine (a horse tranquilizer) here at ArchVet in order to induce vomiting. Cats should receive less than 2mg of Xylazine per kilogram-- somehow ArchVet gave him 9mg per kilogram. They overdosed my baby on tranquilizers and didn't tell me. The team at VEG had to re-administer the Antisedan in order to improve his condition and reverse the overdose administered by ArchVet. They charged me just over half the amount ArchVet did and were completely transparent with me about his care. My cat came home alert and could finally keep down food. I am deeply alarmed that my cat left ArchVet's care in worse condition than he arrived in and want to get to the bottom of whatever negligence took place during the 3 hours I was there. I brought my cat in to treat an overdose. Instead, someone on this team of professionals managed to overdose him on tranquilizers, leading to a second expensive vet visit and horrible distress for my little family. Any pet emergency isn't cheap. Over $10,000 of trying to save my sweet little girl, we lost her. I appreciate ARCHVET workers especially Dr. Saggi and Dr. McBirney. They did their very best trying to diagnose and help our dog. They were very thorough and knew what they were doing. However, I wished they were straightforward with what we should do. I know they gave us hope and tried their best, but reality was she wasn't going to make it. I wished they could have told us with her kidney levels being so high, it wouldn't be an ideal life for her if she pulled through and it's best for her to rest. We had to bring her to 24/7 emergency place since this wasn't, it closed at 1AM. MedVet (Dr. Wickham and Dr. LaPlume) was amazing and helped us with the tough situation, but this review is about ARCHVET. I gave them a high score even though they lacked straightforwardness because they were very kind to our dog. I took out a star because the front desk people weren't the best. Margarita was understanding, however I felt like the others weren't very knowledgeable or helpful. There isn't a payment plan with the vet other than CareCredit which isn't the best and interest is high. Having vet cost over $10,000 should be given more options. We were trying to save out pup. I know it sounds crazy charging that much, but she was my little girl. I don't have much, but she was worth it. I can say we tried everything. During her stay, she did not show fear when she was there. I can tell they took great care of her. The vets gave us the hope we needed for her at the time. They knew we were in a bind and spent thousands of dollars. There were willing to do an extra x-ray which did save us a few hundreds. I appreciate the vet owner for helping us with that. We were given food for her which I wish we knew we were getting charged for and antibiotics that they could have kept. I called to donate it back because I didn't use it. The person answered said they would call me back but never did. Beware, this place is extremely overpriced, not by 10% or 20%, but by as much as 8 to 10 times. The initial appointment cost is actually on par. Also, they have a significantly different pricing scale for different times of the day and for different days, which they don't volunteer to you, so do ask. Anyway, it is in medication costs and services that you will pay "through the nose". I thought I could simply use their prescription and buy medications else where. But they make it near impossible to do that. For example, I had found the exact medication I needed, but in a bigger bottle. They prescribed 10ml bottle for $387. And Chewy pharmacy had ~30ml bottle, for about $40. This place refused to change the bottle size on their prescription so I could buy from the on line pharmacy. This caused me to see another vet office. And all the money I payed to ArchVet was a waste. I did not get any benefit from paying ArchVet, and they were ok with that. The other office had similar initial visit fees. But the meds cost was only a little higher, if at all, compared to chewy farmacy. And their services were about 8 to 10 times lower. So in case ArchVet would charge $1000, the other vet charged $100-$125. In addition, they try their best to make the process as frustrating as possible. They don't wire prescription on your request, or help in any way. They drag the time to give you answers with respect to ordering from a different farmacy. They create all these impediments and obstacles, while "being nice" on the phone and smiling in person. And I am not knocking nice and smiling. But it does feel disingenuous. I will never go back to this place. It is unfortunate, but my pet needs a more specialized office, so it is not as easy to find one close to my place. But I found that driving for 30 minutes, which is only 20 minutes more, is entirely worth it. I would be willing to bet that ArchVet treat cats and dogs people in the same way. All other aspects about this place are actually good: friendly stuff, clean place, hours, location: all good. I will go as far as to say, if money is no object for you, in such case, go ahead and use these guys. read more

I'd suggest you read about my experience before you visit this vet. Even if you are fine with paying extra, this vet absolutely does not care about your pet's health. They will prescribe and suggest medicines and methods that can seriously endanger your pet's health, all because they want to earn a larger fee. I've been a regular customer at Archvet. Despite their unreasonable prices, I favored this vet due to the availability of appointments. I'd suggest you avoid this vet at all costs. Drive further if you must, wait longer for an appointment if necessary, but do not compromise your pet's health for the sake of convenience. Don't make the same mistake I did. My cat had a bit of excessive eye discharge for the past 2 days, so I wanted to get it checked. The doctor observed my cat for approximately 3 minutes from a distance of 4 feet, hands in her pockets. She said, "I see there's something going on with his eyes," then said, "I'll be right back with you," and left the room. A nurse returned after 10 minutes with a bill for $1,000, explaining we needed to do an eye examination by looking into the cat's eye with an ophthalmoscope (if that's what is called) to diagnose the issue. But this would require sedating the cat, then examining the eye, followed by a complex process of sedation reversal!!! All the while my cat was napping on the table, not even bothering to make any noise. He was half asleep! Administering anesthesia for a minor eye exam? ARE YOU OKAY? When I declined and requested to speak with the doctor, I was told I wasn't allowed to ask any questions or talk to the doctor unless I signed the bill. I declined again, was so upset, and prepared to leave. Then, the doctor came back, saw our distress, and offered to conduct the examination if I held the cat myself. I held my cat with a towel, and she told me to apply a green-colored eye drop for some fluorescent light protection, asking me to keep his eyes open due to irritation. She remained 4 feet away, not touching my cat, and used the ophthalmoscope with that distance! How do you even see anything? I felt like I was in some comic show and someone is going to jump and say this is a prank! It was just that insane. Then she prescribed a light antibiotic drop and said we were good to go. The nurse came back a different bill after a few minutes. The pricing and how it changed in less than an hour was just hilarious. It seemed they were making up numbers on the spot: visit fees, exam fees, and even the eye corneal stain had different prices in the two bills, issued less than 30 minutes apart. I attached both. Throughout this ordeal, I was extremely frustrated as they failed to answer any of my questions, didn't properly examine my cat, and seemed only interested in charging exorbitant fees without providing any care. It felt like I had to do all the tasks expected of a nurse. This business operates more like a scam, focused only profit. Our dog had an emergency on Friday after 5:30 PM, so we expected to pay more for a doctor's visit and treatment since it was after hours. The doctor and tech were kind, helpful and explained things well and answered all questions. Where things went wrong was when the vet encouraged us to make a decision about next steps (remove the eye or meet with a specialist to repair the eye) within 48 hours. Since this was a Fri night, that means we would have to move forward with the eye removal with them by Sunday (quote estimate of $8-10k), since there was no possibility of meeting a specialist by Sunday evening. We tried to connect with our Vet who has been treating our dog's eye for awhile to get their input and they were both not in clinic on Saturday. I was able to have a few emails with my Vet on Saturday and she was confused as to why there was a 48 hour time limit. We did not know why, as that was not explained to us. My Vet's office and I called ArchVet four times on Saturday to get the medical records emailed to us that day so our Vet could understand the position of the emergency Vet and get the details on my dog to help me make a decision. We were told only the office manager could send them and she does not work on the weekends. When I explained to the receptionist that her doctor told me I made to make a decision on my next steps in two days and I needed to consult my vet, she said would contact the office manager and ask her to send the records. Finally, 5+ hours after our first phone call (and two additional calls from my Vet and me), my vet received some records, but no doctor's notes, so they did not have enough information to understand the situation. I called again Monday afternoon and ask for a third time for the doctor's notes, as my vet still had not received them. I received a quote from my vet for the same procedure as mentioned above and was quoted $2500! Almost one fourth the cost for ArchVet to do the same surgery. That is crazy. I expect to pay more for a procedure after hours & on the weekend, but that is overly inflated. I will be using a different emergency Vet in the future, as I believe ArchVet has overly inflated prices and not the best follow-up care and communication (as noted by other reviewers as well). read more

Worst Service in The Bay Area. I'm a native working professional in the Bay Area and if you truly love your pet, do not bring your pet here. My dog was brought in for an emergency on Sunday and they charged the $250 fee, that's fine. However, she needed to return the same day for the same issue and they wanted to charge another $250. I brought her to South Valley Pet Hospital and the service was significantly 1000% better. This is not all. I called on Wednesday for Dr's notes and the office staff was severely unprofessional, Olandra especially. It's going on 3 days and they are not able to produce dr's notes? For a $700 a visit this should be a given at the least. I didn't authorize them to give my documents to anyone and they have been in communication with my insurance company for these. However, I'm okay with my proactive insurance company helping me. They don't care about your pets and it's completely visible right from the front door. We brought our dog in on a Sunday for a hurt paw (possible broken or infection). We were seen by the assistant who never even touched the paw -- only observed it. Next thing we had a quote of over $3400. We declined and paid the initial $109 office visit and went to our vet the next day. Wound up being a cyst which our vet prescribed antibiotics and painkillers for (and a dog cone). Costs $555 total. I think this says everything that needs to be said. read more

For my pet rabbit who has since passed away - I reached out to ARCHVET late 2024-early 2025 because not many vets see rabbits. I always got an appointment very quickly. Some useful facts I wish I had known: - ARCHVET is an emergency hospital and they use this definition to justify very expensive prices. This was confirmed to me on the telephone when I spoke to the manager to ask why everything is so much more expensive than other places. - The vet who sees rabbits talks way too fast. I had trouble keeping up with her comments and suggestions. - When my rabbit lost use of her hind legs in March 2025 the rabbit vet did not diagnose EC (Encephalitozoon cuniculi parasite). Instead she said rabbit must have hurt her back and gave painkillers, then blithely said to "prepare for end of life". We lost time and could not treat the parasite by the time another vet (Miramonte Veterinary Hospital) made the correct diagnosis. - Appointments after 5/5:30PM are more expensive. - Diagnostic procedures (like X rays) are more expensive after 5/5:30PM. If you elect to come in the next day for the X ray they will charge you for a new visit. They will not tell you the price difference between evening X ray and morning X ray because "the computer cannot access prices for the morning". Ok ... - All their medications are more expensive. Prescription antibiotic eye drops were around $90, selling at Chewy for $6. Paper prescriptions are free, so get the prescription and head to Chewy, Costco, Amazon, or Petco. In all, this place is about making money off your sick pet. For end of life treatment and procedures, we went to Miramonte Veterinary Hospital and they handled the situation well. read more

We have brought our dog to this location as well as the Santa Teresa location and have always had a positive experience with the doctors and staff. Tonight we are here for an ER visit for our dog who injured her dew claw. The doctor was gentle and clear in his recommendations and made sure our dog was taken care of. I had the worst experience at Archvet and would never trust them with my pet again. My cat had a freak accident and broke his leg, and instead of providing clear, compassionate care, this clinic was rude, inconsistent, and completely unprofessional. First, they kept giving us mixed information--at first, they said he just needed a splint, then suddenly it was a $10,000 surgery, or $10,000 amputation. We got a second opinion the next day, and that vet confirmed our cat DID NOT need surgery. Even if he had, the procedure would have only been $5,000--half of what this clinic tried to charge us. Beyond the outrageous pricing, their billing system was a complete mess. They kept making errors, refunding us random amounts (including a $500 correction at one point), and couldn't even keep track of our cat's name or background information. When we requested copies of his X-rays, they made it unnecessarily difficult, forcing us to make a "formal request" and making us ask SIX separate times before they finally sent them. We later found out from another clinic that they've also struggled to get records from this place--sometimes waiting up to a YEAR. To top it all off, their professionalism is nonexistent. I've seen how they respond to bad reviews, and instead of addressing concerns with any accountability or care, they just get defensive and argue with clients. That's not how a business--especially an emergency vet--should operate. It just shows they don't actually care about the animals, just the money. If you want compassionate, transparent, and competent care, I strongly urge you to go elsewhere. read more

ARCHVET cares more about your money than providing care for your pet. If you request for written prescription, they will almost never provide it even if your pet depends on it. In my experience, I have requested for written diet prescription for my cat with kidney disease numerous times which they never follow up with. Every single time I requested for her prescription, I have to follow up 4-8 times, and they claimed that the order was lost or never placed. Another time, I got a call back 6 month later that my cat's prescription was ready. All of the other times was either the doctor was on vacation or the order needs to be signed which never happened. This has been my experience. I can't speak for other pet owners, but this is unacceptable. It's safe to say that this company only cares about the money. They will not prioritize your pet's needs after they take your money. read more

This vet office will see you but won't have a vet in to actually write the prescription you need. They will refuse to email it, and will make you come back when the vet who is able to write scripts is in. They will refuse to communicate with any pharmacy, you will need to physically mail in the only hard copy of the script. They will not accept the pharmacy's calls and will not send an email to the pharmacy confirming your script or make you an additional copy. All I needed was a verbal "yes" from them to get a pet food order started at an online pharmacy and they denied it. They only gave me 2 refills of this food, and want me to come back for an additional visit for more. It's for cat IBS and is the only thing she can eat. This food they prescribed isn't sold anywhere locally besides their clinic, and the cans they have available they've chosen to mark up 2x the retail price (nearly $7 a can). This forces me to purchase from them while I wait the 1.5-2 weeks for the mail back and forth with the online pharmacy. Other clinics previously have given me an entire year's worth no problem. I'd recommend seeking care elsewhere. read more
