At Cambrian Animal Hospital Stephanie Saito DVM, Dr Krestler, and Meg (at the front desk) provided us with the best care imaginable for our cats, dog, and ourselves for 23 years. I've moved away but will always remember how much they helped us.

This is who we started 2020 with, Lexi, Tommy, and Baxter. Lexi passed in July due to old age and Baxter we lost to a serious illness.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kestler and Dr. Saito, their predecessors, and their entire staff. Three generations of my family have brought pets to Cambrian for their veterinary needs and they are the most caring and compassionate, but also practical, people we have encountered when it comes to pet care. These people not only deeply care about your pets, but respect the dignity of life and will "tell it like it is" when it comes to what is best for your furry family member even if that means saying goodbye when the time comes. But if you chose to fight tooth and nail to extend their life they are knowledgeable about every option available. This includes working with specialty vet care facilities in the area if the treatment is beyond their in-house capabilities. From puppy or kitten to senior life stage, you just can't go wrong with these folks.

We were very fortunate to have Dr. Saito. Our cat Lisa (badly injured after an attack) would not be able to survive without Dr. Saito. Dr. Saito is loving, caring, and compassionate. Under her treatment, Lisa recovered completely, gained back her usual weight and energy. At 18 years old, Lisa is still active, and able to jump on my bed after recovering from such a bad injury. I am fully confident Lisa will continue to enjoy her life because we have Dr. Saito. Thank you so very much, Dr. Saito. We are in your debt. Cambrian Animal Hospital is the place you will come to love if you have a pet. The staff is friendly and helpful. These are the people you can trust.

Ask the Community - Cambrian Animal Hospital

We have been calling them for days and no vm, no answer....is everything ok?

Their answering machine and the website say that they are permanently closed. I don't know why. I mean, Dr. Kestler ran the business from the early 1980s until at least a couple of years after Covid? Maybe he was ready to retire. I wish I knew also.

It is really important to not only research the USDA website criteria but also to be very timely and accurate on who and how you go through this process. Today I made a call to Alpha to ask for information and help with the process. Sophie answered the phone and I was extremely thankful she did. She is a fountain of knowledge about the USDA process and was able to give me very important advice as to how and what is needed for the country we are desiring our pet to go. Sophie is the most informative person I've met in this process. She gives very accurate advice and also warns of the problems that can arise in the process which is greatly helpful in people desiring their pets to travel as streamlined and efficiently as possible. Thank you so much Sophie for your help today. You are an asset to the Veterinary/animal community and to people who genuinely love their pets.

I brought my dog in for a small lump on their head, and instead of offering a standard, affordable first step like a Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) to test the cells, I was told I had to get a $500 blood test. A blood test alone cannot even diagnose a lump, yet cheaper alternatives were never mentioned. On top of that, they aggressively pushed one specific flea and tick medication as the 'only' option, without explaining the risks or benefits. I felt like a sales target rather than a client. I appreciate that they were nice to my pet, but their lack of transparency and pushy upselling mean I will be looking for a second opinion elsewhere

After the appointment, I was told someone would bring a welcome kit. I waited about 30 minutes, assuming there was something else that needed to be discussed. Later, another staff member informed me the nurse had already gone on lunch break. No one apologized or acknowledged the wait. It wasn't about the free welcome kit. It was about being told something would be brought to me, waiting patiently, and then finding out no one followed through. A simple "sorry for the wait" would have made a big difference. Because of this experience, I decided to cancel our future appointments.

Our most recent visit our cat got a sticky (glue) fly trap stuck to him, which may seem like a silly thing to bring a cat to emergency for... but the level of freaked out that he was, we were having difficulty handling him, and he was bleeding and we couldn't determine from where. I called to ask for advice on how to handle the situation, which they gladly gave. The person at the front desk even called me back after she talked to a technician and had additional information for me! We ended up taking him in, as we just couldn't get things under control on our own and he was clearly in a lot of pain. A technician took him back to assess him quickly, got him cleaned up, located the source of the bleeding and cleaned his wounds. And of course he was an angel for her... (why can't he be like that for me?!?!). Once again, everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient. They never minimize what you're dealing with... if they thought it was silly reason to be there, they sure didn't make it seem that way to me. They took our concerns seriously and were very supportive, and took excellent care of our cat. The other thing I really appreciate with the team here is that they aren't trying to add on or charge for unnecessary services. Costs are explained clearly and feel very fair. I haven't once felt like they were taking advantage of the emergency nature of a situation. Again... really good people here.

I received a response offering an exam appointment (which I expected), along with the soonest available opening, but no information about pricing -- not even the cost of the exam itself. I replied asking for both the exam fee and availability. They responded by booking an appointment date and time, again without answering my question about pricing. I had to follow up a third time explaining that I needed to know the cost before confirming, and I was finally told the exam would be $60, which seemed reasonable. Since it was actually my brother's dog, I sent him to the appointment. After the visit, he was quoted $1,600-$2,000 for treatment, which was unfortunately out of his budget. While that happens and isn't necessarily the issue, I was disappointed to find out he had been charged $80 for the exam instead of the $60 I was originally told. When I reached out via text, they explained they "forgot" to apply the new client discount -- something that had never been mentioned to me beforehand. They offered either a refund or to apply the difference toward future services. Since we had already found another clinic that could do the same services for around $1,200, I asked for the $20 refund back to the card. After that, I never heard back. No confirmation of the refund, no apology for the overcharge, nothing. I understand veterinary care is expensive, and it's not their fault my brother is a broke college student. But basic customer service and communication go a long way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be returning or recommending this office.
