In the meantime, I was able to get 3 other HVAC companies to give me a REAL free estimate so I can compare and decide which to go with. Don't let these people lure you in with their phony advertisements. Be an educated consumer and shop around. Here are the two issues I have: 1) I have an AC unit that definitely needs replacement, I explained to your receptionist that I simply need someone to come down and give me an estimate so I can make an informed decision on who to go with for the job. She told me that there will be a $109 charge for the tech for his visit and diagnostics. I told her I don't need it diagnosed since I already know what's wrong with it. She said your company doesn't rely on another company's diagnostics and needs to perform it's own. That's why there is the $109 charge for this "free" estimate. I would give them a zero star if I could. My husband and I just moved to NJ and we have a "home care" membership with PSEG for heating and cooling, but Arctic Air cold called us for maintenance on the house. The price sounded decent, it was $125 for an inspection of our heating system and a clean up. The guy comes, spends five minutes in my boiler room, then measures the temp through one of my vents, says the system works well and it's all clean. I trust him because what do I know about heat. We've lived in this house for 2 years. Haven't had any issues with the heat or ac. Right after this guy leia ex, suddenly, my heat goes out. I have to manually keep flipping the switch to turn the heat back on. Now, granted, the temperatures were dropping later that week, but it wasn't our first cold week in this house, and the heat would literally shut off at 72. At the end of the week, I got home and saw that it went down to 68 degrees in my house, the system shut off and did not kick back on. I called them, the guy didn't come even a week ago, and told them the issue. They sent another mechanic over. They assured me that as long as it wasn't an environmental issue, I wouldn't have to pay because it was literally Four days ago. This guy comes, says that the machine is beyond filthy and hasn't had maintenance in a while, and when I tell him that his coworker was at my house not even a week ago to clean it, he backtracks and says the system is shutting off due to the temperatures outside. Not only did these scammers charge us another $125, claiming it was elemental conditions causing the issue, he tried to tell us that the entire heating system in our house is too old and we need to completely replace it. And he left. A month later, with the system continuing to shut off, and now the temperature was not as low at all, I called PSEG. They came, they cleaned, they said the entire system was fine, and fixed everything. The machine was not properly cleaned and therefor the mechanisms could not properly function. My house is so warm, I have to practically walk around in a bikini. Arctic scammed me and wasted my time with TWO technicians. Won't bother with them ever again. read more

This is our first time using Arctic Air, and I'm so glad we did! We (my mother and I) had a difficult time trying to explain the exact issues we were having with our air conditioning unit but our technician Hector was patient and asked follow up questions to get a better determination of the root problem. Hector was knowledgeable and super thorough! Hector even crawled through the smallest/tightest space just to ensure that there weren't any additional issues. Our 2nd floor AC was not working. This was originally installed by Arctic Air in 2013, so I made the mistake of calling them back to check it out. Leave aside the $125 fee that they charge for diagnoses, but I felt totally fleeced at the end of it. They charged me a total of $475 bucks for replacing a capacitor that was broken and for cleaning the coils. Then the technician tells me that the condensate pipes are also backed up big time, which he then proceeds to clean with a glass of water in 5 mins, and charges me $140 bucks for. I suppose it's my stupidity for not challenging him, but I certainly learnt my lesson. Beware of these guys - do your homework, otherwise you will be fleeced for a lot of unnecessary stuff. read more

7/26/22 willing to lose a customer they've made over $10,000 dollars off of in the last 12 months just to beat him over $159.94. The 159.94 was diagnostic charge which they roll out of the final bill. Ross quotes me $9750. Then raises that to $9850. total including permits. my invoice says $9850. for the job, I finance they get their $9850. and don't take out the $159.94 on the invoice. When I call them for a refund. They actually say the job was $10,009.94 I was shocked at how dishonest these people are. I have an invoice for $9850. Now I can see why this company has terrible reviews, a tech came out to our rental property (where we do not live) to give us a quote on some work we wanted done to our property, I believe he quoted us a very affordable price and the "master plumber" wasn't happy about it. He called me and told me he needed to review the work him self , he told me he would come back the next day, I told him I had contractors there ready to open the floor so he can preform the work so I just wanted to make sure to coordinate them at the same time the floor was open. I made it clear my husband didn't get out of work until 3:30. He said he would tell me what time he can come by calling me in the morning I asked if it would definitely be after 3:30 and he said yes, I never received that call in the morning and I received a text message about him on the way at 2:45pm , my husband wasn't home yet and I couldn't meet him there that early since I also work from home. he entered my home without permission without ever calling me , I then received a text message with another quote from "Sal the master plumber" saying they respectfully decline doing any work at my home. That was fine with us I just thought it was extremely unprofessional the company told us two different things and then didn't have the courtesy to call and tell us why they decided to decline the work. In 2013, I purchased an air conditioner/furnace unit from Arctic Air Conditioning for $9500. Initial installation was not passed by the township inspector, so Arctic sent a technician to fix the problem. On 04/25/2017(4 years later), my house buyer inspector shared with us that there was a water leaking problem in the unit. A few days later, an Arctic technician identified the problem, and told us we needed to schedulean appointment with the Arctic office to get it fixed. The office contact person, Pam, informed us the labor fee would be $450 (parts were provided for free from the Lennox company). I specifically asked her why the labor fee was so expensive, and Pam told me that it would require 2 hour of work; the first half hour would be $109, and each subsequent half hour would be $50. I asked her that I would like to talk to Howard (her supervisor), but she insisted that Howard was not available and I could not talk to Howard directly. Eventually, she agreed to give me a $25 discount since I am a senior citizen. On 5/9/2017, Christian Vance came to fix the problem. He was very professional and courteous. My husband watched him fix the problem within half an hour. The estimate given to me by Pam was obviously much too high, being that we were being charged $425 for 30 minutes of work. I called Arctic again and explained to Pam that the labor fee we were quoted was too high, and we should only be charged $109 for the 30 minutes of labor that it actually took. She insisted that she gave me $25 discount already and I should not ask more, and she was only giving an estimate of how long the work would be. This is obviously not true. I still remember very clearly, just one week ago, her insisting that it would require 2 hours work to fix the problem and she needed to charge me $425. She even told me that she does not care about what kind review I give your company or her reputation. Pam obviously does not care about Arctic's customers, being that she insists on overcharging senior citizens by more than $300. She is incredibly inconsiderate and even lied about what her "estimate" really meant, and that I could not talk to her supervisor. On the other hand, I would like to thank the technician Chris for his honesty and great work. And he gave me $100 discount after he understood the situation. However, I still paid a very unreasonable price ($325) for an half hour work. Be careful when you deal with Pam. read more

My HVAC (AC) is not blowing cold air anymore, so I went through HomeDepot to find repair service. The technician came (nice person) and since the coils are frozen he said they need to wait 24 hours to run diagnostics. The scheduling person called and said they will charge $45 per 15 minutes (i.e. $180/hr), until the find and fix the problem. So I said if I they are here for 6 hours, it's going to be close to $1,200 so I said no,. She put he on hold and then she said she will not charge the continuous fee, so then I said how much to check if there is a leak, a ridiculous $350, what a rip off, plus refrigerant charge, which I totally willing to pay. I already paid $90 via HomeDepot for them to come and check the problem, which they haven't since they couldn't run the diagnostics. I'll be looking to someone else who is NOT GOING TO RIP ME OFF. My issues was relatively minor--some issues with my inducer motor and pressure switch--but the tech (Sal) came out to my house today and diagnosed the problem. He was kind and helpful, and he was willing to explain what he was doing while he did it. Update- The owner called me and apologised for the botched job. He sent out another team to rescue the work and they worked hard for 6 hours to mitigate my concerns. So, I am a happy customer. It still sucks that I lost 6 hours from my work day. --------------------------- I had my AC installed by this company which is a subcontractor for local Homedepot. It was a tough install due to not enough room for work in the attic and that makes the install a particularly expensive work. The installers were very nice and I was happy with them until I get a chance to review their job. Instead of new lineset as per contract, they reused the old lineset. My tenant had a problem with the air conditioning. The unit was working fine then stopped blowing cold air. We had her change the filter which was not changed in while. That seemed to fix the problem. The next morning the tenant called to say the the unit was not working. I called Arctic Air which had installed the force air heat/cooling system a year and half ago around 8:30am. The dispatcher told me there was a technician nearby. I meet Dante (Technician) around 9:15 at the location. He showed up wearing mask (good marks there). He checked the condenser on the roof. Checked the the main unit located in the attic. He found the problem right away. Simple problem but not easily discovered by us. Then to top it off we find out this was covered by our warranty. Dante was very professional and to the point. The repairman arrived with an attitude and after charging $109.00 for the service call, which was limited to looking at the unit, decided that it would cost $680.00 to fix the unit, and once he was told that the unit is still under warranty, the charge remained the same, he then left without even writing an estimate, and we were told the estimate would be e-mailed to us instead, which after half dozen phone calls,the e-mail never arrived and they had all kinds excuses as to why it didn't arrive! so finally we gave up. It's nice to know that Arctic stands behind their installations. We had a furnace, ac unit and hot water tank installed this past summer. They also reconnected our whole house humidifier to the furnace. The humidifier was not working and they came out the same day I called and it solved the problem in seconds. We also did not realize that the GFCI tripped on the hot water heater, but noticed no hot water. Again, they came within hours of us calling, and it was a holiday. Great company!!!! Recently, I called Arctic because I had much major issue with my A/C unit (not installed by Arctic). I worked with Andra C. She helped me so much and went extremely out of her way to make sure the manufacture honored its warrantee. She was easy to talk to, professional and very courteous. After super storm Sandy, Arctic Air rebuilt and repaired the furnace after another local HVAC company had said a new one was necessary at a high cost. It's working great after 5 years. We called Arctic July 2017 to repair our AC unit which required a new dual capacitor. The charge for the part was $160. I later checked Amazon for the cost of the part, since it seemed quite high. Most capacitors cost between $9 - $21. That would be a 10x price increase. I understand needing to charge a little extra for parts but we already paid $109 for the trip and 1/2 hr. labor. We called twice to ask about the cost of the capacitor, and they said they'd get back to us, which they didn't. read more

They came back to do something minor and all of a sudden there was an attitude I didn't appreciate accused us of having someone else maintain the system, refused to honor manufactures warranty stating it expired. The worst company ever. Last December, They changed my 3 big boilers with the new ones. And, they had been checked my heater system. They checked all the pipes inside the rooms, I paid $13, 000 dollars for my service .1-2 weeks after they checked my system, the master bedroom pipe was broken. Water blew out from the pipe during the night. the damage because of this broken pipe, was more than $10,000 in my house. They came and fixed the pipe. They charged me an additional 880 dollars. Although I refused this amount. I paid for it. I asked them to check all the pipes before they leave. They checked the other rooms' heater pipes. After they left I figured out that, my office room's heater control button is not working anymore. Before, the checked it was working well. I called them to come and fix it. They did not want to respond. They had been very rude to me. They are not coming to fix my room's heater control button. Now, it is always being at a very high temperature. And the temperature is never getting to a lower level. Now, It is impossible to stay in my office room anymore, I have no clue how to make it off. they broke my office room's pipe's heater control. Now, it is not working. I told them to fix it. Nobody responded to me. They concern only about the money they take. Their after-maintenance service is horrible. read more

Had Arctic come for our annual service. Technician attempted to sell me everything from hot water heater conversions to replacing both AC units. When that failed, proceeded to tell both capicators had to be replaced, which I was reluctant to do but the technician reminded me more than once that having to come and fix this in the middle of the summer would be expensive and could take a while. The final gut punch was the 4.5 lbs of Freon that need to be added, bringing a normal seasonal tune up to over $1000 Bill. Called the next day to speak with management, never received a call back. Arctic Air just installed a whole house humidifier in my house. It has already made a huge difference in the house. The gentleman who installed it stuck to the time frame he said. He was extremely professional. He wore covers on his work boots so he wouldn't bring anything from outside into the house. He spent tons of time answering my maintenance questions after installation was complete. Two things that made me really happy are: that the humidifier was installed the same week I called and it was significantly lower in price than anything I researched online. Unsure how this company has so many amazing reviews. Got a brand new furnace and AC installed in August of 2020 which has given us nothing but issues since then. Our heating bill last month was $344 for a small 1300 sq ft house due to the heat constantly running trying to keep the house warm. We have called the company out numerous times already due to the temp in our house being almost 10 degrees off from what we have it set to. Every time they "fix" a minor problem but the issues never go away. Finally after speaking to a manager, they sent someone else out this week who discovered that Arctic Air installed our return duct incorrectly and it's blocking off almost 50% airflow. I then had to argue with the manager to convince them to come out on a weekend to fix the issue they caused as I cannot continue to take off even more vacation days from work while waiting around for arctic air to come. They have done nothing to compensate me for the 1.5 years of high heating bills and numerous days I've had to take off from work other than a "sorry for the inconvenience". I almost never write reviews for any trades that do work in my home because I've found that most I use are usually satisfactory and get the job done. I've found that most contractors typically do the job and move on to the next. There's been a void in customer service from companies whose main responsibility is to provide a service to customers. However, this time I need to take the time to give accolades to the folks at Arctic Air Conditioning as they did a fantastic job changing out my upstairs furnace. They are a professional full service company from the office staff through the installation team. I've used them once before and expected yet again another high level of service and they did not disappoint. Everyone I have dealt with there over the years are courteous, professional and customer friendly (patiently answering all of my questions). The installers were neat - they put down floor coverings throughout the work area, cleaned up and vacuumed when they were done. They walked me through the new system and and ensured it was fully configured and tested. I would highly recommend Arctic Air Conditioning to anyone in need of their services. read more

I hired them to increase efficiency in my home under the NJ Energy Efficiency Program- almost $20k. They sold me on a new a/c, furnace, water heater, conversion to gas, and attic insulation with a guaruntee that I would still have storage ability. Everything went well besides the attic insulation which they contracted out to Tay River. Three months after installation, the attic project resulted in extreme moisture in my attic which is ruining the plywood of my roof and has ruined my belongings. The company responded that "storage" meant things that wouldnt be affected by elements. Water??! I will most likely have to rip out everything they did up there so my roof doesnt get destroyed. So far, Arctic has not responded to this issue and has not provided me with a resolution. Although my issue is with the attic job specifically, they were the company I hired and at this point seem to be washing their hands clean of it. The job was done literally in 10 mins and once the job was done , plumber went back to the van and rested for another 15 mins just to show that the work hours was longer than expected .
