It doesn't matter what the season is, you can't deny these rolled iced cream. Been coming here for more than 2 years now and I must say, it always hit the spot. Its a nice small place with outdoor patio My many years of coming, my top favourite flavour would be matcha and Thai tea...mmm. I would recommend this spot to everyone with a sweet tooth.
The hype and long lines are gone, and maybe the novelty as well. Don't get me wrong: when I was there, a few of the kids and teens were still ooh-ing and ah-ing, so I guess Arctic Bites can still conjure up some magic. Cynical ol' grown-up me though took a skeptical look at the price-to-size ratio, appreciated the semi-generous toppings and IG-able-ness of the rolls, but ultimately thought it was just-ok icecream. Loved the quippy names of the different cups though. That said, a one time bite/try.
Passed by here the other day to grab some rolled ice cream with my friend and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I never thought earl grey and nutella would be such a good combo but the that and the toffee bits are such a good addition! The place is small and cute, however I wish they had a bench or tables of some sort to sit on outside. They only had 2 small benches inside to sit at I am definitely excited and will come back to try the other flavours!!
They have "fried" ice cream - liquid is poured onto a cold pan & frozen while being pushed around with spatulas & toppings are added. Portions here are quite big: bring a friend. Had Mr Grey (Nutella & Earl Grey mixed together with the rest on top). It was decent though the Earl Grey flavour predominated; nutella was too subtle so it was overwhelmed. There was a nice crunch from the toffee bits.
I remember when this place first opened up on Baldwin it was so packed, line ups and an endless wait. It was something new that everyone wanted to try, I'm glad I had the patience to wait and finally decided to try this place out while ubereats offered a bogo. I had the taro coconut with condense milk drizzle, I'm a huge fan of taro and it was pretty good. I just found the toppings to be a bit lacking compared to some other flavors they had. I would have hoped for not just condense milk but maybe a textured topping such as pocky? oreo crumbs? Anything eye catching and more appealing to the eye. But regardless, the texture was smooth and creamy. I think it was good to try it once, don't think I would order it again especially at full price. I think I would stick with some kekou gelato

FOOD | Got the mango and strawberry ice cream rolls. I preferred the strawberry one because the mango felt kind of one-toned, I think the whipped cream complemented the strawberry ice cream well! They both had a nice texture with the different toppings. AMBIENCE | The interior is kind of small so be ready for a line during peak hours! SERVICE | Staff were friendly and helpful with the ordering process. :) VERDICT | Solid ice cream option in downtown core.
I was craving ice cream and wanted something special that was not grocery story ice cream. I noticed Arctic Bites was open and it's not that bad of a walk from my place. Due to the pandemic they are only accepting orders via Ritual, Ubereats and Skip the dishes. If you want to pay in cash you must have exact change. It's quite awkward to pick up your ice cream. There is a chair at the front of the door which is locked. When you arrive you have to show your order by the window and she will finish the order and place it on the chair, unlock the door and walk away. I really wish she gave us napkins bc the ice cream was spilling all through the sides. I had Thai style ice cream before at other stores and it was better. Unfortunately most of the Thai style ice cream shops have closed down in Toronto. Other places would infuse toppings with the ice cream giving it a extra special taste. This place have some good ice cream flavours but it's missing the crunch. The topics they put on the ice cream is not that remarkable it's just sweeten condense milk and 1 sauce of your choice. For the price I paid I rather go elsewhere.

Decided to visit Arctic Bites to grab some dessert because I missed their rolled ice cream!! I ordered their thai to go which is thai milk tea rolled ice cream that is topped with grass jelly, whip cream, half a waffle cookie and drizzled with condensed milk ($8.00). It was really yummy but I wish it had a stronger thai milk tea flavour to it but other than that I still enjoyed it!
Been here a couple of times and I have to say, it's amazing how they can create ice cream on the fly. A little cream, smash some Oreos, work it over...er Voila! A thin layer of ice cream on their chiller. A quick scrape and the ice cream are delicious rolled tubes. Tada! The Tough Cookie treat! Dress up the ice cream with so many options that you can always find something you like. It takes about 3 mins to make your treat so if there is a line up, you need to be patient and it's worth it. I added so much fun stuff and with the temperatures being what it is, the treat is so needed. I also ate it as fast as it was made. Oh well...I can get another! :D Located on Baldwin street, it can be tough to get parking and the shop is small but it is definitely worth the visit. Cheers!
ce cream in winter? No problem! Got two Poppy bowls which is bubble waffle + ice cream rolls It's my first time having ice cream rolls! This technique is so new! And I love it! Definitely recommend the matcha for tea lovers! Their tea flavour is strong! Mango is delicious! Fruit is always a definite choice! All toppings are a perfect match! Feel free to customise your own! And the bubble waffle definitely reminds me of Hong Kong! Even though my hands are freezing, it doesn't stop me from digging in! A must go! And very COVID friendly! With contactless service!
Thai ice cream is definitely unique and I'm glad Toronto finally has a place that sells Thai-style ice cream. In my week that I was back in the city, I was happy to have had this place in my places to visit. If you don't want a lineup, come on a Tuesday afternoon. There was nobody inside when I arrived around 3pm, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Upon reading reviews here, I went with the Mr. Grey (Earl Grey) ice cream. The earl grey flavour was definitely there and very delicious; it also works cause the ice cream wasn't too sweet, so the earl grey had a larger presence. Definitely a must-try for those stuck on which to choose. You can also watch how the workers make the ice cream, and yes you can take photos/video of the process. Pretty unique in itself even if you don't wanna purchase an ice cream. A nice addition to the Baldwin strip for sure.
Simply delicious! Came here on a Friday after work and I was thoroughly impressed. The concept of rolled ice cream is an amazing idea being brought to the downtown core and based on the line of customers, many Torontonians can agree! You also get to see your ice cream being rolled right in front of you, which adds to the whole experience. The ice cream itself is amazing! I got Love at First Bite (strawberry) and I love that the ice cream has so much strawberry flavour and has the perfect amount of sweet. I like that the ice cream isn't too sweet so your taste buds aren't beaten up by the time you're finished. The whipped cream and sweet drizzle complement the ice cream so well and completes this dessert that leaves you craving for more! Just a word of caution: as of June 10, this is probably the hottest dessert restaurant around, so get there as early as you can! read more

So after the disappointment that was Sweet Jesus, my friend and I decided to try another foodie place on trend with hopefully better results. We went to Arctic Bites on a Saturday at 4-5pm. The line up didn't look too bad but overall it took about 1hr to wait in line and then get our ice cream. Luckily, I was with a friend with great patience and foodie inclinations. Lol. We both decided to try the Thai Me Up, cause Thai ice tea is amazing and we were hoping this would be just as good. It was! Pretty much tasted like Thai ice tea in ice cream form. :D In terms of service, it was fine. The staffer accidentally put someone else's order in my bowl but made mine right after. Not too big of a deal, probably confused cause it's been a long day. It's pretty crowded there. For the interior, there is no seating. It's definitely an order to-go place. Pricing will range from $6.50-7 depending on what you order. Mine was $6.50 or $7.35 with tax. Still, it was pretty yummy and much needed after being tainted by the memory of a not so Sweet Jesus. I might be curious to try the Earl Grey or the Nutella flavours in the future. I think you wouldn't regret trying it. If I go back, I will try for off days and times to hopefully not face such a long line up. read more
I recently came here with my friend. The staff were nice and would make conversation but the wait was too long. I waited for an hour but my ice cream wasn't that great. I thought the concept of how the ice cream was served was cool and I liked trying an ice ream flavor that I had never tried before. I would only recommend this place to try if the line isn't too long! What I ordered: 1. Taro with a twist: 7/10. I had a nice discussion with one of the staff about what taro was as I had never heard of it before (not even in bubble tea) so learning about and trying this new flavor was the best part of my experience. read more
I was lucky enough to come when the line wasn't long - around a 10 min wait before we placed our orders. We came maybe an hour or so after they opened. The employee who greeted us at the door was super kind and very knowledgeable about the flavours. I opted for the "You've Met Your Matcha" and my friend got their new Mango one. It's cool how they make the ice cream right in front of you, definitely makes the experience unique. The matcha flavour definitely shines through, it's not overly bitter. They topped the matcha one with whipped cream, some type of waffle crumbs, and pocky. The mango was also just as good, if not better, since they do use fresh mangoes when making it. Very fresh and sweet. Can't remember what it was topped with though. The portion sizes are pretty big, so it's good to share one between 2 people. By the end of it, I kinda got sick of eating it. It's basically just cream, but rolled. Felt like I was eating a whole carton of heavy cream! Very oiling and heavy! Most likely would never crave this, I do prefer gelato and regular soft serve over this any day. Cool to try once if you haven't before. read more

I'm a Type A personality so there's very few things I can roll with. However, I'm down with Thai rolled ice cream aka polarolls. You place your order and then they maneuver you to the magic - a creamy ice cream concoction that's liquid but they spread and mix on a cold stone for it to solidify. No pain no gain doe. It seems all their flavours are equally unique, delicious, and something for everyone. The ice cream rolls themselves are quite light but they make up for it in toppings - so don't be afraid to be daring! If you're a fan of Earl Grey try the Mr. Grey. I also loved the Taro with a twist which comes with delicious chewy mochi bites and coconut. Mint to be is perfect combo of mint and oreo cookies. It's about $7-8 but the portions are big. You also have the option to include any toppings for about $0.75 There was no lineup when I went, but it's probably because the hype is dying down. No seating either in their establishment however there is a bench outside for when the weather is nice. The crew is friendly and very helpful with recommendations. Overall, definitely would pop by here for a treat for when I need to get pumped! read more
Thai rolled ice cream is one of the trending food right now, so I thought I would check it out. So glad I did coz this is one of the lightest ice cream I have ever tasted. I ordered the Taro with a Twist coz anything Taro I'm in. The combination of Taro and Coconut is a perfect match and to top it off with whipped cream and mochi balls, it's like you're in foodie heaven. And I don't have to wait for a long time just like what other reviewers did so that's a plus too. I would surely come back here to try other flavours as I saw they have something with Nutella, YUM. read more
Located on Baldwin, which is full of other food goodies. Easy location to spot - look for the cute penguin logo! I tried the Two Can Mango with mochi added on the side. It's nice that they actually use mango bits to mix the ice cream rolls. The ice cream rolls itself were very fresh and not too sweet. Perfect for a summer ending/dessert treat. The added mango sauce and lychee makes it more fruity. I tried other flavors as well and they are definitely something to look out for. The strawberry and taro would be something I recommend! read more
Had the opportunity to stop by during their soft opening.. have seen thai roll icecream all over instagram the last couple of weeks especially from New York city and was super excited to try this on their first opening day! The concept of this icecream is quite unique. You pick your flavour and a cream liquid gets poured on a cold stone. You wait about 2 minutes and then they start to roll the cream up. On their first day they had 8 flavours. We opted to try the taro coconut. The flavour itself was good because it was not overly sweet. Though I did wish they used real taro in their cream rather than it tasting like powder taro bubble tea. After they roll up the icecream they add additional toppings. This one came with whip cream, Mochi and coconut. One cup is definitely filling for one person. I would definitely go back and try other flavours (especially their thai iced tea!) Mmm yum!! Lined up for about half an hour. Was it worth it? I'd say yes. I tried the taro coconut one, with the little mochis on top. Loved the mochis, I wish they would put more in the cup. Each order is about $6-7 but it also yields enough ice cream for 2. I love ice cream and I don't even know if I'd be able to finish an entire bowl. The texture of the ice cream is incredible and unlike any scooped ice cream that I've had. It's so dense. The flavour of the taro coconut was fantastic too. I want to come back and try the other flavours!! read more

When my mom was downtown she was strolling through Instagram and came across a bunch of photos of beautifully rolled ice cream in colourful arrays and she was tempted to go and try it out. Being the great daughter I am (haha), I decided to skip my workout (oops) and take her to Baldwin Village to eat at Arctic Bites. We got to the entrance, and the first thing we were greeted with was the absolutely LONG line of people waiting for their ice cream! The huge line up definitely increased demand from passing people, and only made the line longer and longer. I believe that we waited for at least half an hour, perhaps more. It was quite a long wait but we did come during the prime hour (it was the middle of the afternoon and it was a scorching hot day!). When we finally got to the menu, I was a bit confused how to read it. I can tell that Arctic Bites was trying to go for a unique, hipster feel, so the menu was chalked in on a blackboard down below. For me personally, I do feel like they should put the menu on a more visible area so that customers can choose what they want while they wait. After all, my mom and I couldn't even look at the selection until we got close to the cashier. In addition I feel that there should be some description about what the selections are. During my visit there I saw a lot of people inquiring about what selections are and what they have on it, especially for the Thai Me Up selection. I feel that if they displayed the menu more clearly and have little descriptions the place would be a lot more easier to visit! Regardless, my mom and I ordered with ease once we finally got to the cashier, and got to watch the young ladies make the ice cream. I almost felt bad for the girls that worked there - making the ice cream required some extreme labor in my opinion. In addition it also takes some time to make, which is what I believe caused the line up. After about another 10 minutes in addition to the wait in the line up, we got our beautiful orders. My mom ordered the Taro with a Twist Ice cream, while I got the Your Morning Cup selection (I am a huge coffee lover). The ice cream alone was actually very fulfilling. You can tell that it was sweet, fresh and very creamy - all very favourable things to have in ice cream. In addition, the display was definitely photo worthy! Was it worth the wait though? I'd say it was, but to avoid a line up, I recommend that anyone making a visit should go at more odd hours of the day in order to prevent the line up and enjoying your rolled ice cream much more! I remember back when Arctic Bites first opened and there were lines going out the door. Now that the hype has died down, I decided to pay a visit to satisfy my ice cream craving before it got too cold. There were a few customers inside already but we didn't wait very long to place our order. I decided to get blue haze, which was a lavender-infused blueberry flavour. There's a glass wall between you and the staff, so you can see how they make the ice cream rolls. Right off the bat, the presentation of it was really pretty. They put a lot of care into how it looks. Taking my first bite, I really liked how it tasted. The ice cream isn't excessively sweet and the lavender pairs nicely with the blueberry flavour. Wasn't really a fan of the whip cream since the ice cream is already rich in itself but I guess it's just there for presentation. Overall, I'd definitely recommend making a stop here! read more

My friend received a giveaway on Instagram for 2, so we didn't have to pay for the rolled ice cream. We came here on a Thursday afternoon and there was no customer before us so we didn't have to wait to be served. I ordered the Thai Milk Tea ice cream and my friend ordered Nuts for You. I like how we can see how they're preparing our desserts. When I saw the menu and the price, I thought that the ice cream rolls were overpriced, but the amount we get is actually worth it and quite filling! The friendliest group of staff I have ever met! If you're a fan of earl grey, definitely give Mr. Grey a try. It was flavourful and wasn't too sweet. We also really enjoyed the "Thai Me Up", can't go wrong with either flavours. Rolled icecream is a great concept and watching the staff make them was a fun experience. Service was fast and prices are pretty reasonable. If you love icecream, this place is a must try! read more

This was my first time trying Thai rolled ice cream and I really enjoyed it! We got there just before the line began to form (luckily). The service is a bit slow given they must make everything from scratch. I ordered the Love at First Bite and was very pleased with my order. The only downside is the store can get very crowded with a long line, and there is only one bench at the back to sit. I would recommend this place for first timers, it is a must try food! read more
It's really cool to see them make the ice cream, they pour the liquid onto the cold plate and then it slowly hardens into ice cream while thy flatten it. After that they roll it up, put it into a cup, and decorate it. I love that they have a ledge which is perfect to take pictures The portion is HUGE. Honestly this is a meal in itself, so if you are getting it after eating, be prepared to share it! I love all the different flavours they have as well. You can also add extra toppings if you want for a small cost! As a side note, I think they've now changed their cup design now, so it may look different of you decide to go there. read more

I will never understand these artsy places. The ice cream isn't anything to write home about, the lines are ridiculous, and overall, it just isn't anything special. Went with a couple of kids and ordered 4 ice creams. waited in line for like 20 min to get my bowls. Kids loved to watch them make the ice cream, and I can say that presentation was amazing, but when the kids actually started eating it, they looked disappointed. They said that it tasted different from other ice creams......I ended up eating half of everyone's ice creams because they didn't' like it....I guess I'm a little bit bias from eating so much of it... So I've heard great things about this place and finally today being a sunny day, I decided to venture out. There was no line up, I don't know if it's a good sign but it's winter, so that's probably why. All choices were $7.45~ and the total was north of $8, like $8.10. The choices offered were very mediocre and nothing screaming super Asian dessert place except the Thai iced tea. We picked, the nuts for you, my partner is not very adventurous. One serving was good for both of us! It tasted like normal ice cream but it was definitely colder and didn't melt as fast. The flavours were good, just nothing spectacular. I wish they had the amazing flavours I see in the posts before, some mango or matcha would have been nice. Since the marble slab at Yonge and Dundas closed, I had to make do with what was left in the area, not sure if I'll be back. I enjoyed marbles slab unlimited toppings and to what I enjoy. read more

Not worth the hype. One bowl is almost $8. Sure, it looks great in photos but I could go to any other ice cream shop down the street and get better tasting ice cream for half the price. I'm just not buying into the stir fried ice cream fad! Place is very clean and sunny but offers little seating inside and outside. read more
This is a novel way to make ice cream for sure and makes for an interesting presentation. On a hot day this is sure to hit the spot. I didn't like the addition of poor ingredients like nutella, peanut butter etc. though so decided to order one with a somewhat plain version of strawberry (luv at first bite). It came with two pocky sticks of strawberry flavor along with the whip cream. This stuff is freshly made so initial impression was good. The swirls definitely add a new dimension (pun intended) to this ice cream. The competition for good ice cream has heated up or frozen solid (I don't know I can't seem to get these analogies right) and at this price point they need to stand out. 3 Stars for now. read more

Well, there aren't any lineups if you are wanting ice cream in a snow storm! This place is fun. I enjoyed watching the cream and rolling. The Earl Grey rolled ice cream was delicious! I liked how you could really taste the tea. The whipped cream and cookie was a good combo. The serving is a lot more than I expected! I'll have to try the taro ice cream next time! Nice little shop on baldwin street. During the summer there is always a line. The lines could go up to 30 minutes to an hour wait for ice cream. This place is decent for Thai rolled ice cream but I find it a little sweeter than other places. Additionally they offer a really small menu, like 7 flavours and all their flavours are predetermined so there's no customization. During the past 2-3 times visiting here, they either sold out on fresh fruit flavours or they don't have it on their menu at all. Most of their flavours seem like premade powder flavours like taro, earl grey and Thai ice tea. This probably makes it simpler and quicker to get through orders. Over the year that they've been open. They have Improved on the presentation of the ice cream rolls. When they first opened the rolls were so ugly. Now they are pretty on point. I've tried the strawberry flavour and the black sesame flavour that they had last year. The strawberry was good. But the black sesame was meh. Would not recommend. During the recent times I visited, I've tried mr.grey and Thai me up. Mr.grey ain't that good. As for the Thai me up, it's the only flavour that's got me coming back here. If not I'd probably go else where. read more
The line can be really long. Service wasn't the greatest - however you can't really go wrong with the Dessert. It's a bit small in terms of space- can't seat and eat there. It's a unique and different type of experience and ice cream. It's a nice treat to go once in a while but after a while not that special. Suggest going not during peak times (weekend) read more
A while ago I met with a friend from University that I haven't seen for a long time. It always feel great to catch up with old friends. After dinner, she suggested we go to have ice cream. I picked this place from a few suggestions she gave because I have already bookmarked this place on Yelp a while ago When we got to Arctic Bites, she said that it is lucky we got there early (before 8) because usually there is a line up. Anyways, I ordered the earl grey flavour ice cream-Mr. Grey and my friend ordered the milk tea one. There are only two cold slab at the store so we waited a while for our turn. They started making mine 2-3mins earlier than my friends but both ice cream were finished at the same time. So I think that is the reason why my friend's ice cream melted so much quicker than mine. Mine was still ice cold solid when hers became a half melted puddle. So that is one thing I hope they could improve on - to ensure the quality is stable regardless who is making the ice cream. As for the taste, the earl grey flavour is pretty strong and I like it. But it is a little bit too sweet for my liking. Long lineups that being even before they open up. It's a cool experience and pretty fun to watch, but considering the long lineups, wait times, and price ($7) it's a fairly steep price to pay. They usually have around 10 different types of rolled ice cream, so the combinations of ice cream and toppings are predetermined unlike some other places where you can mix and match all the fruits and toppings. I'd definitely recommend coming to try ice cream rolls in general, but I wouldn't say that Arctic Bites really stands out that much. It was the first one in Toronto to open up, but now, there's plenty of other stores and booth that sell rolled ice cream, with more variety, toppings and for a better deal. read more
The place was fairly small with limited seating. The menu only had a few flavours to choose from and was quite expensive, with each ice cream costing around $7 to $8. I ordered the Thai Me Up Ice Cream Rolls which was quite delicious. I personally do not believe the desserts here should cost so much. However, my friend had an allergy to peanuts and the person who was serving was very polite and thoroughly scrubbed the cold plate to avoid any issues. Came here on a chilly day in January, but the place was deserted, so it was a nice touch! Ordered the Strawberry ice cream one (where they literally crush a strawberry and then pour the milk over). It came with two pockeys, some more strawberry pieces and whipped cream. It was quite a large portion, all things considered and it tasted great! It's also fun to watch them make it. Customer service is sad at best, and the workers make you feel like they don't want to be there. It's a little pricier too, but most novelty food is these days. I think it's worth trying, but if you've had it before (which I have), this stuff isn't that much greater and the other places that make it (like the harbourfront boardwalk) might be a shorter line and less expensive (during the summer of course). read more
I ordered the lavender ice cream ($7.50) and it was very tasty! A lot of people have mixed feelings about floral flavoured foods, but I personally enjoy them. You can taste the launder, but it's on the milder side (unlike the Starbucks rose tea latte which is quite overpowering). I liked the sweet sauce that was drizzled on top and the blueberry garnish as well. It's pricey, but I'll definitely be back to try other flavours for special occasions! Popular spot for Thai Ice Cream, located on a trendy street in Toronto. The presentation is better than the product itself! The lineups can be crazy and chaotic, but once you get order in, it's impressive to watch how the cream and ingredients are spread out, frozen and rolled-up. It's pricey for what you actually get, in terms of ice cream and toppings. Ordered the Mr. Grey ice cream rolls, got to see them make it. The rolls are quite pricey ($7) and there's 5 different combinations or signatures you can pick from. I noticed that the rolls were very quick to solidify but traditionally, Thai ice cream take much longer to work with to change its state and hence make it a creamer texture. With this, I felt like it wasn't as creamy as I expected but I'm glad I got to try it out. read more

With the hot summer, a bite of ice cream is definitely something we want. What's better to get than Arctic Bites ! My boyfriend and I went by to get one to share and we got the Take Two to Mango which is the mango flavoured ice cream roll with lychee jelly. There were supposed to have mango diced but because they ran out since we went in at 8pm, we got strawberry slices to replace it! Honestly, the mango flavour was an amazing pair with the lychee jelly and the strawberries added a different layer and element to the ice cream because of our review on Yelp too, they were giving away a free box of Pocky! We got a chocolate flavoured Pocky as complimentary there are actually so many other flavours ! Up to 15 flavours ! We also were able to watch them chop it and work our ice cream on the cold board ! It was such a fantastic experience ! They also have an area outside their store to stand and eat your ice cream ! I would definitely recommend this place as a date and it's the perfect way to end off the night. If you are around Baldwin, you should try this place out! read more
