Antoinette's is a pretty solid restaurant experience, with high quality food and a lovely ambience…read morefor a place of its size. The staff are very nice and welcoming, and Antoinette herself was an absolute delight. We came for the buffet lunch which, honestly, was less of a buffet and more of a live menu where they pick the food out of a tray for you. I think the restaurant would benefit from switching to a paper menu because standing in line waiting for the staff to pick your food one by one person by person was a little bit of an awkward experience. I feel like only getting one piece of fried chicken for a 20$ plate (which, with the credit charge and a drink and tip was pushing into 30$) wasn't great, but the portions on everything else was great. I really liked the food, the greens were well seasoned and really delicious. My boyfriend who doesn't usually like mac n' cheese loved their mac, and we both loved the corn. The candied yam was my highlight, really well cooked and just delicious. The fried chicken wasn't anything crazy but it was good for the one piece that came with my meal. The ribs could be better, they're onto something with the seasonings but the meat was tough and chewy which I didn't really care for. The burner on the ribs also went out which I think is another flaw with their buffet method, which left it lukewarm which was... Fine, just could've been better. The buffet did come with corn bread which I loved, I mean really high quality corn bread it was delicious. Overall the food is pretty good but the rib quality definitely drags it down for me. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for anyone trying to get some good authentic southern cuisine; after a month in Vidalia this place was a breath of fresh air. I really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, it was clear the owner put a lot of time, care, and money into making it a high quality dining experience, and one that I think is well on par with a lot of the nice restaurants in Savannah. My only immediate recommendation is either let people pick their food themselves at the buffet (and clarify that it's not all you can eat, other people at my table were confused about not being able to get a second serving) or ditch the buffet entirely. It's a nice idea but it would've been nicer and less awkward to just sit down and order what specifically I wanted. Also maybe hide that massage table by the bathrooms I wasn't sure what was going on there, it's literally the only weird thing with the otherwise delightful atmosphere of the restaurant.

Generous portions of catfish. The restaurant was hard to find using Maps Finally located it on the corner opposite the gas station, El Cheapo. I would eat here again and again.

Before our trip, one of my fraternity brothers told me that if I wanted some of the best Southern soul food in Savannah, I had to visit Mrs. Wilkes. He also warned me that there would be a long wait. Let me just say--he was absolutely right on both counts! We arrived at the restaurant and stood in line outside in the rain. We didn't get seated until 1:00 PM. Normally, I would not wait that long for a meal, but for the record, and I can't believe I'm saying this--it was worth every minute of the wait. The experience was unlike any restaurant I've ever visited. My wife and I were seated at a large table with approximately eight other people whom we had never met. Yet within minutes, it felt like we were dining with family. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and filled with genuine Southern hospitality. The food was simply outstanding. Every traditional Southern dish you can imagine was brought to the table and passed family-style from person to person. The home-cooked flavors reminded me of the meals many of us grew up enjoying. Everything was delicious, and the desserts were just as impressive. What made the experience even more special was the sense of community. People of different backgrounds and races were dining together, sharing food, conversation, and fellowship. The staff worked together seamlessly and went out of their way to make every guest feel welcome. While we waited in line, a gracious lady shared the history of the restaurant and the legacy of Mrs. Wilkes herself. The staff even provided umbrellas to guests who didn't have one--including me--which was a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about their commitment to customer service. From the food, to the hospitality, to the rich history and unique family-style dining experience, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room exceeded every expectation. If you're visiting Savannah, this is not just a meal--it's an experience. I proudly give Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room a 5 out of 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah.

The hospitality is off the charts. You need to come early at least a half hour as the line quickly grows. You sit and eat family style. The host will assign you to your table with others to fill it up. 8 to a table. There is sweet tea waiting for you and dish after dish of goodness! Then they bring out the fried chicken on platters. 21 different bowls of southern dishes- okra, rutabagas, greens, beans, corn, biscuits and corn bread.... Oh my there was a lot. You will not go hungry as the staff are near each table and bringing refills of items needed. Then when you've had your fill, they bring by peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top and/or banana pudding! They take cash or check only. They thankfully had an ATM inside. But the man at the cash register said we could leave and go to our own bank if we wanted and come back to pay!! That wouldn't happen at very many places. Southern hospitality, great food, memories- it is all here. Don't miss this place when you come to Savannah!!

Beautiful wrap around porch with plenty of chairs, swings and benches to enjoy sitting outside and just chill before or after you eat. Enormous southern themed buffet with huge salad bar and equally giant food bar. Today there was fried chicken, pork steak cutlets, and fresh fish along with another dozen or so favorites like mac-n-cheese, sweet potato casserole, and green beens. The service was great and each dining room had comfortable padded chairs with lovely solid dark hardwood tables. We loved everything we tried, and we most definitely will go back again soon. Even had a cute gift shop with local syrup, honey and artsy crafts.

The restaurant is in a big beautiful home, we came in through the back door which was near where we parked and there is a huge hallway from the front to back of the building and that's where the huge buffet is located. All the tables are set up in the adjoining rooms and they are all gorgeously decorated. The buffet was delicious, so many things to pick from and I was in my southern roots glory!!! I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come again if I get the chance!!
