Best Paella and right on the beach...I could have stayed there all day! My tour guide pointed me to this place after I had complained about getting bad paella in a number of places downtown. One Uber ride to the beach, I was ready for some sangria and paella. They did NOT disappoint! The rice was well cooked, the spices were balanced and the seafood fresh. The service was friendly and attentive, I had plenty of room for Sangria and Paella but nothing else. I even recommended the Paella to a fellow diner admiring my dish, they raved about it saying "it really hit the spot!". They gave me a small shot of limoncello for dessert...such kindness! I would definitely go back upon my return to Barcelona. read more

We stopped in here for lunch when we were exploring the beach. The service was poor, and the food underwhelming. They were out of two of the 3 things I ordered, (burrata salad and mussells. Its a seafood restaurant, on the beach, how do you run out of mussells?) and I was never even asked if I wanted anything else or offered a menu. I had to ask the server if I could see a menu so I would have food to eat. The aioli on the potatoes was void of any flavor, the romesco sauce that came with the grilled veg was just NOT good, and the Wasabi flavor on the tuna tartare overwhelmed everything. Everyone just ate their food and we enjoyed the view. The server's indifference to our being there was very apparent. There are so many other places in the area with much better food that appreciate you being there. read more

OMG!!! Worst money spend EVER!! I havE NEVER been SO DISAPOINTED!!! We made an order and they brought drinks in tje same time as food ( about 20min from order), but that was the smallest.. The Chefs fish soup was cold and with 3 mussels (1 of them was only a shell) and 3 clams and rice... THAT'S IT!!!! For 13€!!! I try few spoons and didn't eat it.. It was DISCUSTING!!! Superb food right on the beach in Barceloneta. Fresh, flavorful and tender seafood. The calamari just melted and the mussels were plentiful, tender and so smooth and tasty. The fried fish platter had an amazing variety and each item was wonderful. The bread came with a variety of yummy sauces. Then there was the wine - just the House Chardonnay and it was amazing. We had great service. They spoke English but let us practice our Spanish on them. Friendly and kept checking on us. Prices were good, better than I expected and portions were larger than I expected. About the same for all the same type places on the beach here. You could get cheaper off the beach in town but you'd pay 3x in California - it's location. read more

Locals recommended we eat paella by the beach. We saw this place with an outdoor seating so we gave it a try. We ordered calamari for appetizer and seafood paella for our main course. It definitely filled us up. Very tasty and also enjoyed the view. read more

Absolutely my favorite meal in Barcelona. I'd return just to order another plate of tomato bread. It's not a complicated dish and nearly every restaurant serves it. But the bread Arenal used, they way they grilled it and served it with good olive oil and flaked sea salt made tomato bread very, very memorable. But there's more! The sangria was the BEST in Barcelona (and we tried a lot!). The red sangria was perfect - full of triple sec and fruit, not at all watered down with soda or juice! The house olives were addictive. Olives brined with hot peppers, pickles and carrots - delicious. The paella was wonderful. Flavorful but not salty rice full of seafood. Their dish even included small scallops and diced calamari mixed with the rice. The shellfish was fresh and tender. The grilled razor clams were a little sandy but so yummy in their garlic sauce, we barely cared. And the cod fritters came with a tomato jam that really added so much to the fried fish. I loved that Arenal took every dish and added something to it to make it different, more delicious, and memorable. As for location, you can't get much better. Tables are set up right next to the sand. If you get a table along the edge, you can keep one foot on the beach. They shade tables during the day and turn on heaters at night. The only downside is that Arenal is not open on Sundays. We tried to eat here for a third (and last) time during the trip and were SO disappointed it was closed. This seaside spot has a great selection of local wines, paella and other regional specialties. Our seafood paella was delicious, but the vegetarian options - gazpacho and grilled vegetables with romesco - were honestly even better! Teresa, our waitress, was a delight. This is a lovely spot for a romantic or family meal. read more

A very good tiny beach restaurant you would miss, by just walking by. BUT, you need to stop and get the tapas and seafood platter. it's really worth it!!! Mixed tapas as starter and then choose your main course which will satisfy you even more. the view from the beach side to the oacean is just awesome. Ordered the seafood paella. Was not impressed. Rice was undercooked, hard and tasted like there is a lot of butter or oil. The mussels and shrimps, on the other hand, were over overcooked, dried out. Needless to say, I did not finish the dish. read more

Amazing food, we had mixed grilled Vegies, bread and tomato, beer and wine. Something light. But it was beautiful. The views are spectacular. The waiter was a little sour, and took a while to come back for our order and with our bill. But the food was fantastic. It was very busy so it is obviously popular! read more

Beautiful location right on the beach! The paella was good - not the best I've had but still delicious. As an appetizer we had a gazpacho of beets, oranges, and mascarpone that was very good. We came a bit early for dinner in Spain (8:30 pm) but it was the perfect time. We got to see the beach and enjoyed the sunset and twilight. Truly made for a memorable evening. read more

The atmosphere is classy-casual with white table clothes and nice napkins. So that's wonderful. However I have to say the service was more than terrible. The waiter couldn't care less. What a find in Barcelona! We were looking for a restaurant for some goof paella, and came across this restaurant. It was a bit hard to find, but luckily we didn't give up too easily (it's by the beach). Even though the menu indicated each paella has to be 2 person portion or more, they were really nice to overlook that. We ordered two paella (one was paella with seafood, and the other was paella with squid ink). Both were good, but I liked the one with quid ink better (not as salty and with more seafood flavor). They also gave bread to go with the paella. After the meal, taking a walk on the beach is a great ending for the meal. read more

God I wanted this to be great, but overall this place just pissed me off & chapped my ass to no end. The view was spectacular and food was great & I would have given it a much higher rating but I can't. And why? SERVICE. We were seated and all was good until the waiter realized all we wanted was coffee and dessert and that's when the bad attitude began. It's not as if we had pushed our way through the line and shoved an old lady into the Mediterranean, the place was dead. He slammed the glasses on the table and almost threw the utensils at us (slight exaggeration but you get where I'm going). The Crema Catalana that Peter had was great and the fruit with Crema Catalana over it that I had was DIVINE. But the experience itself thanks to this guy really left a bad taste in my mouth. This really makes me mad because I wanted to love it and wish I could say everything was sensational. But I can't. And I hope and pray that if there is a next time (and I am one to always give a place a second chance) I get a different waiter because the view by the sea is lovely and the food was great. But a great deal needs to be said about the human factor on whether a customer will come back or not. read more
