Never had an arepa before but that mural drew me in like a bee to honey. I've been here before when it was Johnny's. It was fine as Johnny's. Standard fare, standard deli. But lemme tell you, I LOVE the addition of Argentinian flavor. The flair, while not over the top, is palpable. The colors, the artwork, the addition of the window bar seating and wicker lamps, and that mural which is so eyecatching I have to mention it twice. It's local, it's a cuisine that isn't usually represented on the food scene, and it's a nifty transformation from "meh" to "MORE please!" And I did want more of the Queen. Chicken and avocado served with a side of sauce that I couldn't stop slathering on the Queen. I even took the hubby's sauce (he's not into green unless it money.) 5 stars cause it was a clever twist on updating an average deli to the next level, my first taste of arepas was awesome, and because I'm in a good mood made better by reliving the memories of an arepa that was totally pleasing to my taste buds. For some reason, it took them about 10 minutes to make my sandwich. The Pabellon arepa sandwich was messy, the opposite of the point of a sandwich, so I used the flimsy plastic knife, fork, and napkin they gave me, and they were barely up to the job. And the flavors weren't anything special either, in contrast to what I've had at Soto's. The chocolate chip cookie was poor quality, but at least it was soft, so I enjoyed it. I'm curious about their Queen chicken salad arepa sandwich, but I doubt I'll return to try anything more here. read more

Arepa Please's staff and delicious arepas will make me want to come back again and again. definitely big enough for a full meal, the arepa dough is extremely tender and flavorful, esp when paired with the fillings. I tried the Queen on my first visit, which was chicken salad with avocado mixed in. The chicken was tender and seasoned perfectly, and the overall effect was creamy and tasty. I had potato salad on the side (comes with your arepa!) and doused both with the cilantro sauce that they gave me. The staff was extremely helpful in describing the arepas and patient as I made a choice. I even saw them making the arepa bread from fresh masa as I left. The real deal! read more

Also 6 different salads & 9 wraps. They also have gyros, cheese steak, burgers, Rueben & chicken pita. The arepas are tasty and on the crupieres side than I've had in the past. The Queen is a bit like a Venezuelan chicken salad sandwich in an arepa, but better. The sauce, similar to chimichurri, makes the sandwich, which also has a good amount of avocado. Sides with most items are a choice of cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad or chips. The gyro platter was nice with fries and lots of romaine salad, feta, a balsamic salad dressing, & a hearty handful of Greek olives. Everything was enhanced with the Kratos hot sauce available. The Guayoyo Venezuelan style coffee was strong, almost like espresso, & lightly sweetened with honey, which took off any bitterness. Music playing was a Venezuelan style rap in Spanish which enhanced the Venezuelany (is that a word?) feel of the place. My friend and I stumbled into Arepa Please after talking about it over and over via Instagram, drooling over the pictures. She is gluten intolerant so we have to pick and choose our restaurants. We were headed to one of our typical favorites when I said "hey! that's the place I told you about." We decided in that spur of the moment to turn around and see if their arepas were made with corn. Low and behold, they were! Not only that, the staff was super nice. Mind you - we walked in 30 minutes after their scheduled closing time and they still served us with open arms and open hearts. We ordered two The Queen arepas to dine in. My friend also ordered a coffee. The coffee smelled divine and I didn't even drink any. The Queen was massive. I didn't expect it to be so huge. It was full of creamy chicken and avocado goodness! the warm, crisp arepa was perfect against the filling. There was also some sauce on the side that took it to the next level. Upon arriving I ordered a coffee and an arepa I asked for extra sweet. Which I didn't get. The coffee was burnt and watered down. So much for really wanting an Espresso the arepa was nothing out of the ordinary except very expensive . I paid over 10$ for burnt coffee and a small tasteless sandwich. I've come to Arepa Please twice now and both times had "The Queen" and both times it was delicious! When I went on a Saturday there wasn't much of a wait but when I went during the lunch hour rush midweek it was packed! I would definitely suggest calling ahead before arriving but it is well worth a trip regardless! read more

Came here for lunch to try the arepas. I went with a coworker so we got two different kinds and split them. We tried the Domino, standard black bean and cheese. It was delicious, the black beans had great flavor and the cheese elevated it. We also tried the Queen, and oh em gee, it was love at first bite. I'm not really a chicken salad fan, and the shredded chicken mixture is pretty much a Venezuelan chicken salad and it was phenomenal...so good! I can't say enough wonderful things about it. And now about the arepas themselves...in the past my experience with them in several of the places around town has been a very greasy arepa, that's not the case here at all. They were very tasty not to mention the perfect texture and held the very hefty contents with no problem. As far as their sides go, do yourself a favor and get the potato salad! read more

Absolutely wonderful place! My boyfriend used to go there when it was johnnys deli, we were in the downtown area and he had said hey, there's this little restaurant I used to eat at I'd like to go back there so I said sure, when we arrived he was surprised to see a new name and a totally new atmosphere and was a little disappointed because he thought it was under new management but was delighted when he found out it was not, the owner remembered him and asked how he was, we ordered our food and dined in, we had a wonderful time, the food was amazing I ordered a BLT and my boyfriend got a gyro. I had to check this place out when I saw all the raving reviews, and it did not disappoint. This little cafe had a nice selection of arepas, sandwiches, salads, and entrees, and coffee by Bold Bean. I got The Queen arepa, which is basically their take on chicken salad with avocado mayo and pieces of actual avocado. My husband got The Jax Blond, which is shredded beef and cheese. Both were very good. I love chicken salad, and theirs was a great rendition. Very moist with tons of flavor and not stingy with the avocados. The arepas were just crispy enough on the outside and soft and warm on the inside to create that textural juxtaposition I love. My husband said he also thoroughly enjoyed his arepa. They were both served with the most amazing chimichurri sauce bursting with flavor that really amped up the arepas. He got a side of fries, which weren't anything amazing - just your average frozen crinkle fries. I got a side of potato salad and that was really good, just needed a little bit of salt. It was creamy and thick, and a little tangier than some potato salads - it tasted like it had sour cream in it which made it delicious. The portions also end up being way more filling than they look, and they are very generous with the amount of filling they put in the arepas. Overall I enjoyed the food and atmosphere here and will be a regular customer. I used to work in the area, and had this been open when I did, I without a doubt would have eaten here several times a week. read more

I ate lunch at Arrpa please today. It's been months since I been there. I was looking forward to the queen salad. I am so look displeased. I paid almost 13 dollars for lunch. The queen salad is a mix of chicken salad and avocado. What I got was chicken salad on a bed of lettuce with a few slices of avocado. I asked for more avocado and was told I would have to pay extra. Love this place. Their arepas are great and filled to the max. Not the best arepa I've ever had, but it does the trick. I'd love to see some spicier sauces and more Latin flavors on the menu, although I know they are trying to keep some of "Johnny's" customers. I'm usually not in the mood for coffee around lunch time, but the Bold Bean partnership says something about their ingenuity. read more

I work right next door to this place and decided to give the new cuisine a try by ordering the Queen Arepa today. Great oversized Arepa was wonderful, almost too much of a helping for lunch. Potato salad could have used more seasoning or herbs (it was just a bit boring) the arepa on the other hand was incredible and then the pepper and cilantro sauce was delicious resembling chimichurri.
