What started off as a good beginning was not what my family of 4 received in the end. Before I go any further I want you to know that my family regularly supports many restaurants in Fairfield County, and in general the service for most of these places are very good. In fact we have never written a bad review - we have never had to write a review online. Which makes my review substantive. For starters, the atmosphere was nice. But the service was substandard. Our waiter did not speak well in English and we could not understand him (my family speaks multiple languages fluently so we understand when diction issues are not going well). He never gave us the specials of the day. We ordered $200 worth of meals including one meal that was filet minon steak. We asked for medium, we received rare. Both risotto dishes (filet mignon and seafood) had a funny taste to it and was not tasty. Interestingly enough it looked good but the flavor was NOT good. Our family only ate 1/4 of our meals. We should have made a big stink about the service and food but we did not do that because our 15 year old daughter thought it would be mortifying to have everyone looking at us weirdly, even if we were in the right. When I discreetly brought up the fact that the food did not taste good, the waiter just dismissed us. We paid the bill and left. We should have gotten him fired but once again, my daughter did not want to have to put the waiter in that kind of position. Like I said, the ONLY reason why we did not raise such a fuss for disappointing service all around was because of my daughter. He should be thanking me. We will NEVER go to this restaurant again and strongly urge you to reconsider going there. If you want real Italian food, go one mile and eat at Via Sforza where the food is truly good, authentic, and worth the money. read more

Our first time at this restaurant, with our friends, on a weekday. We managed to get street parking - but wondered if it'll be different in a weekend. We were seated in the "enclosed sun deck" area, overlooking the Saugatuck River. The space is well arranged and the view is great. Our server was very attentive without being annoying, the food we ordered was well prepared, generously portioned and delicious. There's a full bar with a wine list, a little on the pricey side. **Scenic Views, Invisible Service** Yes, the waterfront setting is lovely, as several other reviews have already mentioned, the ambiance gets high marks. But that's where the praise ends. The moment we sat down at our large table, it was as if we activated an invisibility cloak. Not a single member of the wait staff seemed to notice our existence. We waited over 20 minutes just for the customary Italian bread, and nearly 45 minutes for our food. When we gently inquired, the waiter did arrive, not with food, but with an unsolicited debate, insisting that we weren't waiting as long as we imagined. (Spoiler: we were.) To be fair, the food itself wasn't bad. But even the best pasta can't make up for feeling like a ghost at your own table. Sadly, we won't be returning. The view may be nice, but next time, we'll take our appetite, and our visibility, elsewhere. read more

Wandering around Westport and tried a place I've passed by 1,000 times. This tough to rate It's between a 2 and 3 for me. People excellent so I begrudgingly give it a 3 as Yelpers are all about FOOD. ENTRANCE - it was lunch time on a Saturday came in and we were greeted with the greatest congeniality. We were allowed to peruse the menu and decided to try. DECOR - if you like orange this is the place. Elegant orange chairs and a large number of tables. Plus an enclosed outdoor and real outdoor section. Very nice. PARKING - they are on the other side of the route 1 bridge so good luck. On the other side of the bridge there is limited free parking but you'll need the short walk. CLEANLINESS - I don't usually comment here and in this case no as much as a big deal but the covered outdoor area probably wasn't vacuumed from Friday night. Saw half wine corks on floor and miscellaneous things a mop or vacuum takes care of. MENU - not exceptionally large and the appetizers noted as antipasta were really expensive but the serving size was slightly larger in some cases. They do cater to gluten free if you need it. BREAD - the table bread came out hot, nice touch but I'm not sure if it was stale and toasted to use. My bad on presumption SERVICE - was pleasant during all stages. APPETIZERS - I tried the mixed clam and mussels. They actually use the good clams and not the terrible manilla cheap substitutes. My issue was the broth which I chose white and there was way to much butter and they needed to clean the sea food better as I had some sand in the dish ENTREES - wife had a Russo and sausage dish that she wasn't crazy about. It was O.K. But no rocket flares are going up. I had the parpedella and braised lamb which was not great and just get by. The lamb chunks were super tough and and stringy. The sauce was not exceptional and the taste felt like canned. Sorry to say. VINO - I tried the Italian on menu that was decent but the maroon color said it was peaking. Forget the name as I don't usually go for robust Italian reds. DESSERT try the crème brûlée my wife enjoyed that. I just had a double expresso and to my delight that had black sambucca PRICE - I'm sad to report that this place is entirely too expensive even with inflation. In my view it is $$$$$ not sure why Yelp advertises something different. The total tab for 2 without with tax and without the tip was $196. Way past $$$$ read more

I'm sorry to say that Arezzo has really gone downhill in recent years. Like so many "view" restaurants, they seem to rely on the (wonderful riverside) ambience to draw in customers. The food is just.. not great. Fish that was overcooked, shellfish that was dangerously undercooked. Salads under seasoned, and the bread was stale and tasted like it had spent some time in the freezer. Doesn't seem prepared with care. Service is mostly fine, though we waited a very long time after eating to get the check. Once the plates were dropped, nobody came by for over half an hour. The inside was completely and utterly empty, but the patio was full. People seem to be coming for the ambience for sure. Unfortunately in the future I would only visit for a drink on the gorgeous patio. The food is just very "meh".. but at "wow" prices. It's a shame! With a menu refresh, better ingredients, and more care in the cooking, this place could be spectacular. read more

The best restaurant to host a private event! I've had my bridal and baby shower in their back room overlooking the river and both were huge hits with our guests. The room is glass and super bright so even in the winter it felt really beautiful and welcoming. The view is amazing! It's also the perfect size to have a sit down meal but also be able to walk around and socialize comfortably. There are doors you can close so you have privacy from the restaurant. The food was a massive hit, they offer an amazing multi course meal with lots of variety so everyone was happy! Overall this is the spot for your next private event. Highly recommend! read more

I have driven past this place several times and finally decided to check the menu and read the reviews. We stopped in and decided to eat at their patio and I am so glad we decided to do so. As soon as you walk in the restaurant it makes you feel a sort of way. You walk in and have an expectation you will have an excellent meal. As you walk in immediately on your right there is a very nice bar area with some seating where you can have a drink or a meal. As you walk in the first thing you notice is those bright orange chairs (I love orange) so it put me in a good mood. We ate at the patio but they also have outside dining with a view of the water. For starters we had the Antipasto Misto which had several Italian meats, great cheeses and olives. The best part of the Antipasto was a blueberry goat cheese, it was unbelievable! For our entrees my son had the Bistecca (steak, fries and broccoli rabe. My girlfriend had the Agnello al Forno (lamb chops) and I had the Veal Milanese which came served over Arugula salad. First of all, the meals were all cooked perfectly! Our serving was huge, we were able to eat and still have enough to take home for another meal. The entrees were excellent, very flavorful and well presented! To top everything off we had the warm apple tart with pistachio gelato. To be quite honest this was the one disappointment. As I write this, I am sitting in the restaurant - having waited about 10 minutes for the dessert menu with my wife actively trying to flag down a member of the wait staff. The restaurant is practically empty with about 5 wait staff steadily going back and forth to help with what looks to be a small company party in the back - but not even looking towards us. After calling out audibly multiple times, a wait staff member finally came over with the check - when we wanted to order dessert. I have to say, I am super disappointed in the service for a near empty restaurant - I understand that the party is likely more financially important - but it shouldn't feel that way to the guests. We first came here for a light snack in May 2020 in the heart of the pandemic while we were house/apartment shopping and while we didn't have an entire meal, it warranted a trip back to check it out... We love to eat outdoors and especially when it is on any body of water so decided to come back for "date night". Our reservation was for 5:30 (10/14/2020) as we know the sun is setting earlier and earlier and we wanted to experience both the daylight and evening lighting. We were greeted promptly and quickly seated. Jose was our server and he explained what the specials were, took our drink orders and left us to peruse the offerings. Another person brought bread and butter. I recommend requesting some EVOO, red wine vinigarette and black cracked pepper to dip your lovely bread into, but personal choice. For dinner we had the Pappardelle di Castagne which are wide noodles (hand made and fresh, omg) and the Filet Mignon with bordelaise, creamy mashed potato's with truffles and asparagus. My filet was one of the best I have had in years. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was spot on. The ambiance is exceptionally lovely inside and out, but we chose to be outside on the water with the heater next too us. So glad we did. I have read a lot of reviews, and while the servers do not "hover", they are always right there should you need a thing. Our server was Jose, ask for him. He is wonderful, friendly and professional. I would give it five stars and understand why there are no condiments on the tables currently, but honestly, some folk really do want "that much pepper" haha and waiting for it to arrive repeatedly was a bit disappointing. read more

Stopped in here super early on a Saturday evening (before 5:00pm) after passing by on a walk through Westport. After quickly looking on Yelp and seeing the pretty pizzas, we decided to have a pre-dinner snack. As can be expected at such an hour, it was pretty empty. We were seated right away. Our waiter did not seem happy that we came here for just a quick bite and not a full meal with drinks, etc. I can understand how that might be frustrating to a waiter from the tips perspective but you would think that having some customers is better than none at all but he certainly did not act that way. Much to our dismay, the pizzas were not on the regular dinner menu and so I had to ask for it. He did not like that either. Nor did he like the fact that we only ordered two pizzas as our meal. Apparently these are supposed to be appetizers but they're HUGE! We got the Prosciutto + Fig and the Burrata Caprese. I really enjoyed both of them but I felt that they were a bit bare (there was a lot of empty space that was just dough). The taste profiles were great though, I especially liked the Prosciutto + Fig. The dough was interesting, it was like of like a thin double-layered pita. I must add in here that aside from that one waiter, we were treated very well by the rest of the staff. The location on the Saugatuck River is lovely, admittedly better in the summer when you can sit outside. We had lunch the day after Christmas, inside, and the wait staff was very attentive. I have seen negative comments about wait staff but that was not the case today. The lunch menu is heavy (seems more like a dinner menu) and recently changed and different from what is posted on line so beware if you have your heart set on something specific you saw on their website. The Insalata di Pera was very good. The gnocchi bolognese also very good but the sauce was not special. The dessert was beautifully presented. Prices are high for lunch. read more
