I was looking forward to trying some local empanada spots and found Argentina Bakery on ubereats. Since Ubereats was offering a 40% off promotion for pick up orders, I decided to give this bakery a try. Don't judge my gluttony but I wanted to sample a variety of items. I got five empanadas: Beef, corn, spinach, cheese empanadas and the Swiss chard tart. I also got three desserts: tres leches cake, a peach balcarce and the dulce de leche mil hojas cake. I liked the empanadas but wish there was more stuffing inside. The bread ratio was a little too high for me but still tasty and I liked the slice of hard boiled egg inside for great inside texture. The desserts were very good. I liked the contrast with the cakes, toppings and fruit. There is a little no parking area in front of the shop that you may be able to park for a quick pick up but also saw a lot of metered parking. Pricing was very reasonable. I'm a 90s baby and I grew up eating these empanadas, I don't remember there being that many options when I was younger, but am I glad that there are so many to choose from. I live in Connecticut, but I go to New Jersey every two months or so and no matter what I have to go here and get my empanadas. If I didn't become allergic to nuts, I would get a slice of balcarce! It's vanilla cake with dulce de leche, walnuts, fruit whipped topping and meringue. Think of a caramel nut cake with yummy bites of peaches. They don't usually sell it by the slice, but if you ask nicely, they'll cut into a cake for you. If I go with friends or family I always grab a slice because if I can't enjoy it, I at least want the people around me to have the joy of tasting my childhood. read more

After having their cakes at various friend's birthday celebrations over the years I finally had the chance to visit the café in person. It is a small space, but they utilize every inch! Aside from delicious cakes and bakery goods, they sell finger sandwiches and empanadas if you are looking for something savory. I had two vegetarian empanadas (there were FIVE vegetarian options in all) that were really good and filling. The cheese empanada had a sharper cheese than what is typical for an empanada, which was a nice change and left me wanting more. The broccoli empanada was very unique and the perfect balance to the cheese empanada. The crust was flaky and perfect. Extremely cute little bakery. Their Argentine cake is phenomenal and in my 32 years I have not had a better cake. Imagine a moist sponge with layers of dulce de leche, chopped walnuts, peaches, and merengue bits. The cakes are also extremely affordable. While I'm obsessed with their cakes, I must also say that their pastries are great, especially the ones with the yellow cream on top. Hands down the best bakery in Jersey city!! Their cakes are out of the world. Tasted them at a friend's birthday party and couldn't get over it. Their pastries, churros, empanadas are amazing as well. I wanted to get a birthday cake and I had ombre blue rosette cake in mind. Even though I called them in the last minute, they were they were so humble and got me every detail that I wanted. The cake was just how I pictured!! This is a hidden gem in Union City. The bakery sweets are all delicious but especially pay attention to anything that has dulce de leche, or custard, or guava. It's all so good. They also serve hot espresso, cappuccino, and Yerba maté! Their bread pudding is extremely thick and rich. They sell little sandwiches as well. I particularly find their Argentinian Empanadas (baked) incredibly special. They have several varieties to choose from. I like picking out many different kinds and taking them home and popping in my oven (or microwave in a hurry) and enjoying for snacks at home. I also like their fresh made cakes. This bakery is great! They have a mix of argentine pastries and really anything else argentine you might want. I ordered a ham and cheese miga sandwich, chicken, beef and tuna empanadas and a couple of alfajores. While the empanadas aren't fresh, they are soo good.. good seasoning and include eggs, tomato and olives - just how i love them. Also, the school girls that work there do the decorations which is write "happy birthday" They were super rude to us in Spanish and English. They treated us like if we were not going to buy anything. Unfortunately I'm one of those people that will probably hop a fence and run from a dog just to get to a place with good food. I didn't have to experience this to get to to this wonderful place but we are in the midst of a pandemic. I bought a variety of empanadas, facturas, thin sandwiches and a huge slice of chocolate cake. They were allowing only one person in at a time. Despite the circumstances the customer service was excellent and the food was worth the trip. They have beef, chicken, spinach, tuna, Swiss chard, vegetable and chicken empanadas that taste like your favorite auntie made them. Everything taste delicious and totally fresh. The 5 star reviews are fake, these are OK at best! Another thing that sucked, I ordered beef empanadas in English and they said they didn't have any thinking I was American (I'm bilingual in Spanish) and a Spanish speaking lady ordered the beef ones immediately after and they had them all along. The argentinian cake with the meringue crumbs around the edge is delicious. It is a winner every where I go. I love this cake. I can honestly say this is my fav cake ever. Inside there are fruit pieces and caramel and layered every so lightly on top of each other. There is do much slightly crunchy stuff inside too... i love. Not to much cream. It's so perfect. I never got a bad one. Very consistent. Try it. Small is like $26. Worth every bite. Now the other stuff: churros are good but they have a line of caramel in it. Extra sweet.... I could do w/o it. I've been to this coffee shop a few times and the coffee is great. However, today I had a rather interesting experience. I'm fully vaccinated from Covid-19. After the Governor removed the mask mandate I thought it was ok to walk in without a mask. The moment I opened the door one of the workers asked me to put on a mask. I didn't have one on me because the CDC and Governor said I nolonger have to wear it since I'm fully vaccinated. I apologized and I offered to show my vaccination card. The employee then offered me a mask. So know in advance that vaccinated or not, whether you show proof of vaccination or not, they require you wear a mask to give them your money. read more

My family has been loyal customers to this business for the past 10+ years and their desserts are always consistent. Unlike other bakeries this bakery has a good selection of desserts, mostly pastries, sandwiches and cakes. One of my favorites will forever be the Dulce de Leche with Meringue filling cake. Hands down the best cake ever, and I haven't found anything else like it so I'd recommend trying it! Now the location of this place is pretty easy to spot but the parking is horrible. Being that it's located on a busy street you'll probably have to drive around 2-3 times to find a spot nearby, if you happen to get a spot in front you're in luck. I usually go to dulce de leche in West New York but this place has reached that level so no need for that. The pastries were amazing. I ordered the oreja which was perfectly sweet and had the right crunch. The churro with dulce the leche was really doughy a d delicious. Their tres leches has created a new standard. The maizena alfajor was the only thing that was not a success. It has a lot of dough but maybe that's their style. It was crowded when I got there so I figure it's popular spot in the area.
