I guess I wasn't so lucky... The pastelito de guayaba with queso was stale; the cortadito was horrible but the croquetas were good. It seemed like the croquetas are one of their popular picaderas cause every person at the "order" counter ordered them. The customer service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. This spot is a stand out amongst the bakeries on Bergeline Ave. in Union City! The inside is relatively small, but very comfortable and welcoming. My favorite menu item to order from here is the croquettes! The flavor isn't overbearing, the breading is soft, get crunchy and they taste amazing! For portion perspective, A small box feeds about 5-8 people/small family if each take about 4-6 croquettes each. Keeping that in mind will help in knowing how much you should order! Croquettes are delicious, and cost us $1 each. We had several other pastries. I had a dulce de leche pastry and a guava pastry. They tasted good, but the dough was a bit dense. This bakery is authentic and I didn't know what to order because everything looked good. It was busy so they must be doing something right. The empanadas were speaking to me! The guava and cheese one were one of the only sweet ones they had and I loved it. They have all sorts of stuff. I also tried what looked like a guava turnover. Very good. I drove an hour and a half just to buy their Cuban bread! Picked up two loaves of bread and four loaves of the sweet yellow medianoche bread. (And could not resist a dozen bocatitos to snack on). I took the bread home and froze all but one loaf so I can make real Cubanos at home. (They make sandwiches right there at the bakery as well) What I love about Las Cubanitas, and Union City in general, is its authenticity. When you're there, you're in Havana. Very little English is spoken, Bergenline Avenue is crowded and bustling with activity...wonderful smells emanating from various eateries. You just cannot copy this experience by going to a large grocery chain or supermarket bakery. An hour and a half drive? So worth it! read more

Big fan of this place! Feels like a bakery in Miami. No frills, a few tables plus counter seating at the windows. Coffee was soo good and the pastries were delicious. I was really curious about this little bake shop and wanted to try it. It's a really cozy space, filled with lots of pastries and fritters. They have whole cakes ready to go as well, which is a good thing to note in case of emergency situations (surprise birthdays, etc.). They're taking COVID-safety measures like wearing masks & gloves, having plastic dividers and having people 6+ feet apart. The empanadas and the croquetas were really delicious. Not sure if they have new staff working here but if you order something for pick up and they tell you 1 hour be ready to wait half hour extra. Also, one of the ladies at the counter is not friendly and her Custer service skills are awful. I walked in to request my pickup and she did not say hello or good morning... in a nasty tone she said "You have to wait", no explanation no apologies for the extra wait. My 3 stars is for the staff's unprofessional customer service skills and the extra wait time, but the item I purchased tasted good. This spot is the best. Fast, delicious, friendly, and consistent, Las Cubanitas is my favorite spot to grab breakfast or a snack with a delicious cup of coffee. The croquetas de jamon are my favorite but the empanadas and the pastelitos de carne are amazing as well. There are always so many available and the quality is great. I haven't tried any of the beautiful desserts yet but they are so fun to look at, I am definitely planning to get some for our next birthday or event. By far my favorite Cuban bakery in town! There Cuban sandwich is exquisite some other sandwiches use dry pieces of lechón (roast pork) but Las Cubanitas used juicy pulled pork style meat. It is also a pretty hefty sandwich for less than 5 dollars! I like this place. Sandwiches, pastries and coffee are great! But the service and the cleanliness are sub par. I walked in to buy a coffee and toast. I asked if I could pay with apple pay and the lady at the counter said it would be a minimum of $5. So I asked if I could use a card instead and she said yes. She made my order and I gave her my card and she said that its also a $5 minimum and since I wanted nothing else, she threw out the food and said she had to follow rules. I thought I would cry! I can only speak to the pastries, the food, and the coffee - not the catering - but the cortaditos are on point and the croquetas and sandwiches are great. I work from home, so I often need spots like this to work without driving myself crazy at home, and when I lived nearby I'd be here every day working off the computer and taking in the local color. I absolutely LOVE this place. Definitely a gem in Union City... I've stopped by to pick up a dessert and they had so many offers that I didn´t know what to try first. They have the best bread in town maybe even New Jersey. Great espresso made with real Cuban touch. And the cookies are always crisp and fresh. The cakes and tarts are just like home not too sweet, not too dry and always perfect.
