When in search of a good pizza, Argilla was a try I am glad I made. The large thin crust pizzas are cooked to perfection and the inventive pizzas make each order a new experience. Despite some of the descriptions (like the dessert pizza), I have yet to meet a pizza at Argilla I did not like. Branching out, I also tried the wings, fries, and salads. The fries will always accompany my pizza orders from this point forward. Ultimately, I love the food at Argilla--the only ding would be the price. As good as the food is, the prices make Argilla a treat that will not be experienced all that often. Even if ordering with a group, purchasing more than one pizzas will quickly hit the $50 mark. This was a great restaurant with a large and unique variety of pizza toppings and combinations. I love that it was very reasonably priced whether you wanted a personal pie, a medium or a large to share. There were other entrees and sandwiches as well if pizza isn't up your alley, but I'd highly recommend it. The crust is a perfect thickness and baked perfectly in the middle between soft and crispy. Depending on where you are sitting in the bar area, you can watch the chef make your pizza. The bartenders are very nice and always provides recommendations for food and drinks. All of the breading had fallen off of the fried pickles I ordered and when that was pointed out to my server the bartender, he shrugged. I stopped by with a friend on June 12, 2022. I ordered shrimp tacos, cheese fries and Abre tus ojos stout. The beer was good. To my surprise, I found 4 small pieces of rubber band in my tacos. When I spoke to the manager I was appalled to hear how he handled the situation. When I stumbled onto this location, I was surprised to find out it was Pietro's Pizza formerly located in Pike Creek. I am a huge fan of Pietro's Pizza so I was eager to try the their new location. I was equally eager to try their home brewed beers. I ordered a pizza and tried their five-gallon rye sample that contained three samples. Each glass contained an English, German, and a Belgium brew style. I liked the Belgium beer the best and ordered a glass of it to go with my Pizza. The pizza had a good thin crust however; the crust could have been firmer. The pizza was good, but not as good as, I remembered it. Then again, memories are not always as accurate as we would like to think they are. If I was giving a rating on just the food alone, I would give Argilla a solid three stars, but their customer service is top notch and deserves an additional star to round them out to four stars. Beer selection is pretty good for their original beers, but their pizza steals the show for sure! It was a Friday night, and really busy, so the waitress was very apologetic for the wait times to get pizza. I didn't think the wait was super crazy, I had a beer and the second one was delivered as the food was being delivered. Apps and fried things were rolling out fast, so it was just the pizzas that were taking a little extra time. We got two personal pies and split, so we could try both. We had the Brewers Guild and the Arugula Pie. Two far different pies, both were really good in their own way. Brewers is BBQ based, which is totally different, but so good. I will say the Jalapeno's on it are fresh, with the seeds, and the hottest I have ever had. Very good, but man, I was sweating!!! Last piece I picked off, and the zing was still there! lol The Arugula was super fresh tasting with the tomatoes and fresh garlic and peppery arugula, it was a really good pizza. I decided to come here because it was the closest brewery to where I was staying. Argilla Brewing, wow! They have a small beer menu (and that's OK) which they make all in-house. The two I had were very good: Belgian Quad and an NE-style IPA. Their menu is quite creative, and is more than just beer and pizza. That being said, the pizza menu is pretty extensive; you can see that this place started off as a pizzeria 40 years ago. The food is delicious, fresh (even their salad dressing is made from scratch in house), served with a smile, and goes well with your beers. Doing the Delaware on Tap App and this restaurant comes up. Decided to stop in on a Thursday night to have dinner. About a 3-5 minute wait to be seated. Afterwards, we ordered drinks and food though waitress didn't take our menus upon leaving. Oddly enough my husband got his pepperoni pizza slice before his drink and before my food. Overall I loved my chicken caprese but could care less about the wilted sweet potato fries that accompanied it. My husband got the pretzel appetizer but they were insanely dense ... "if you have dentures or missing teeth, don't order it because it was chewy." Overall he said it tasted good. He also got the pepperoni pizza and commented it was thin crust and loaded with pepperoni ... it was average (coming from someone who doesn't like thin crust.) We got the Maple Beerunch and Walk Softly ... loved the Maple beer ... so much so that my husband ordered it after he finished the IPA. Wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered a couple beers and food. Both were pretty good. The buffalo chicken pizza had a good kick too it! We had pretzels for an app which were a little a little chewy and underdone. Overall the atmosphere was pretty meh. The place definitely needed a facelift. Very dark inside with creaky chairs and paint chipped walls. Service was decent but got a little awkward when the bartender was yelling at a server to the point she got tears. I have eaten at this location two times now. Both experiences have been sub-par. The food is fantastic. The pizza is by far the most delicious I have had in Delaware -- which is usually subject to chain pizza restaurants. The service is slow and inattentive. This place seems packed all the time, but for some reason there isn't enough staff to handle the load. Items on the menu have been discontinued, but remained on the menu. Please remove discontinued items so that the customer doesn't make a mistake in ordering that selection. Multiple drinks on the beer list were kicked, but the waiter never mentioned it to us. When were ordered our pizza we received the wrong size and they had to make another one. I must say our recent visit to Argilla was pretty disappointing. Sure the pizza was tasty. Service was good. But the soft pretzels were meh. And the nachos were nothing less than horrible. Skimpy toppings, the cheese and other ingredients were all piled on top and the lower level of chips had no toppings at all. Just dry chips. The black beans were sparse and rolled off the chips onto the table. The chips tasted stale, too. I think at some point the Argilla management changed the nachos recipe. It's definitely not the same as before. Please go back to your previous recipe for your nachos. Another thing that we noticed that the air vents are dirty, some are above food prep areas. The back of the TVs are covered in dust. Clean much? How about vacuuming or dusting that once in a while? We're rethinking our monthly night out at Argilla. Time to change things up. read more

They have live music occasionally. There's also a big screen TV for watching football during the season. I have to say that I have been to Argilla's a handful of other times since this review. Its just a really convenient location for me and the only place in the Kirkwood hwy corridor that you can get a decent craft beer. Some of these visits were worse than others with literally everything I ordered being overcooked to oblivion. However the last time I was there last week was a pleasant experience. All of the food was prepared well. The service was good and the beers were good. Went here when the girlfriend and I were making our rounds to all of the breweries in Delaware. We came for lunch and I sampled all of the beers that they had that day. We both didn't get pizza but I can say that their salads are really good and the shrimp sandwich that I had was excellent. But we came for the beer so this review is really about that. They had six beers when we were there and all of them were good. I would say that I enjoyed their Amber the best and second was their summer seasonal. Cheers! read more

We visited Argilla on recent Friday night while traveling through town. The beer and food were fine, but nothing to get overly excited about. Service was good, but we did have to flag down our server to get the check. Beer: we ordered the brown and an IPA. The IPA contained mosaic hops, which we really liked a lot. The brown was solid. Pizza: we went with the Philly cheesesteak pizza, which had a nice, crispy crust. The toppings didn't have a lot of flavor, though. We might've had another beer before we left, but there was a VERY LOUD crowd of older folks standing right next to our table in the bar area. This seemed odd, because there were many empty tables in the restaurant. We came to discover the loudest of the bunch was the musical guest of the evening, "Dr. Harmonica." I like this place, my wife and I go chiefly for the beer. I tend to like their brews, but wish they had a sessionable APA. A lot of their beers have some sort of twist, like bitter orange peel, etc. It is nice that they like to stretch the beer envelope similar to what Dogfish Head does. Really wish there were more place like this. I'd give this place 5 stars, but the pizza is just so-so. This place is all about the beer, and if it were just that--easily 5 stars. The food is amazing. The service takes FOREVER. it's not worth the wait. Twice I went here with a semi-large group of people after a sporting event. The first time service was slow, but nothing too out of the ordinary. The second time it took 20 minutes to get a beer, and that's after we finally got the waitress to take our orders. We started asking for the next round when we were only half done the first, and still sitting there with empty cups for some time. My husband ordered a pizza and I ordered a slice of cheesecake. He was almost done eating the pizza by the time the half-warm, half-frozen, obviously microwaved cheesecake came out. The wait was RIDICULOUS. They tried to explain the restaurant was busy, and I just looked around in disbelief at all the empty tables surrounding us. We then asked for the bill around 10:30 or so as we had an hour and a half drive home. For some reason, someone screwed things up so we couldn't pay with a card. We had no cash on us. They ended up basically holding our card, and those of 3 other people in the party, hostage until 12:00 while they figured out how to use their own billing system. They gave no discount for the hour+ of sitting around trying to pay. I spoke to the manager and he said "we are already losing money on this, stop giving me attitude". There is NO EXCUSE for this ridiculously low level of service, and the food is nowhere NEAR good enough to put up with it. In short, I will go out of my way to never return and to make sure no one I know ever goes back either. If I could give it less than one star I would. read more

We have frequented this establishment several times. Their burgers and pizza are fantastic and they used to have a great shrimp and avocado BLT, but they recently took that off the menu. Their sweet potato fries are the best in the area. We have ordered nachos twice but unfortunately, both times they came out cold and soggy. Overall, service has always been a little slow, something that I've been willing to overlook in an effort to support local businesses and have some good food. However, the service today was horrendous. Half of our order came out first and my son finished his entire mini pizza before the rest of our order came. My other son and I ordered nachos (second half of our order) and asked for small plates, which took about five minutes to get, while I saw our waiter standing around by the soda machine doing nothing. One waiter mentioned that it was very hectic, but there were only 5 tables full with two waiters working. There didn't seem to be any sense of urgency in serving the customers. Overall, I'm very disappointed in my visit today and for the first time ever, left no tip. Just moved to the area. Went in a few weeks ago with on a first date with a smoking hot guy. The bar maid (whom I don't know) greeted me with "Are you wearing false eyelashes?" She may as well have asked me if I was wearing a padded bra and hair extensions. I was absolutely mortified and I could see that my date was embarrassed for me. I laughed it off as if the bar maid and I were old college friends. What is in Delaware? I'm not sure either, but this place was a pleasant surprise and find. They offer pizzas, bar food, burgers, and they brew their beer onsite. The beer is great and reasonably priced for craft beer. They have seasonal brews and the pumpkin ale ranks up there. We had the nachos with grilled chicken. You can substitute their house made beer cheese instead of nacho cheese for free and that decision is worth it. They offer happy hour specials on both food and beer which is great. The atmosphere of the joint was positive. If we lived closer to this place we would definitely go here more often. read more

Okay so we've come to really love this place. This is our usual Friday night spot for dinner and drinks. We usually sit at the bar, so there are always servers available for whatever we need. The beers are constantly changing, with the Happy House beer almost always available. The fries are fantastic; crisp and seasoned to perfection. We usually order the Bacon and Apple pizza, but when we want something simple, the basic pepperoni pie is always a good choice. The moonshine cherries are nice and strong, if you're into that sort of thing. And, unlike most local establishments, Argilla has live music during the week, and even when there isn't a band, the piped in music is always great. What a great place! The food is interesting and craft without being pretentious. Homemade fried pickles (great brine, crisp pickles with a super crunchy fry and amazing dipping sauce), smoked wings, nachos... you get it. The pizza is incredible. Thin crust with some char from the oven, fresh ingredients that are simple but work well together. Sandwiches are on point and always interesting and well thought out. And the beer - how delicious! Every batch is unique and tastey. I'm usually very limited on what I like, but enjoy most of their beers (if I don't like it, it's bc of the style, not lack of skill from the brewers). Atmosphere is relaxed and chill, they never rush us out and I love that! Service can be "slow", so if you're in a hurry and hyper don't stop in... but honestly, I love it. Every server is pleasant and knowledgeable and it truly is a place to go, sit down with a few beers and have some food... no one is breathing down your neck to finish and leave. They have live music sometimes and it's great! Acoustic music ranging from folk to rock and roll to modern (think Coldplay or something similar).
