Half the rating for half the job done. Review I really wish I could give Dr Hyman a better review but unfortunately I believe he got half the job done. Not worth the 18-20k. I'm a revision patient that depends on my breathing for work. After my one and only follow up (besides the cast off), I was told to wait until the 2 year mark for final results and concerns. (Which I was not once followed up with throughout the years.) Dr. Hyman fixed the bad breathing in my left nostril but now my right nostril has this issue, which was not present before. I have some abnormalities and unusual swelling in the right side also, that looks lumpy. I don't know why and what's going on and I'm concerned. Hence I reached out in an effort to receive the aftercare that I thought I already paid thousands of dollars for, but was told I had to pay a consultation fee of $300 since it was past the two year mark. (Which I was told to wait for.) Such a bummer, I really thought this was it. So here are the pros: - Will improve your nose. - Can get your nose close to the desired goal. - Tina is wonderful. Cons: - Will not treat you as his patient if it's past 2 years. People who consider this doctor should learn of his rudeness, dishonesty and poor skillset. Moreover, when I communicated with him the obvious issues after my surgery, he flat-out denied issues existed while looking at the photos. Immediately after the surgery, my columella deviates towards one side significantly. This is due to the fact that he did not anchor the septal extension graft directly in the midline. It was anchored to the left of my anterior nasal spine instead. I woke up the following day after surgery and notified his nurse and him of this septal extension graft deviation issue. Both of them chose to ignore. As a result, the septal extension graft blocks my smile, affects my speech and it is extremely uncomfortable. Prior to my surgery, I discussed with him a surgery technique developed by his mentor, Dr. Toriumi. This technique is the only correct method for fixing my nose. But he was not forthcoming. He only told me after the surgery that he does not know how to use this technique on his patients. He has very very bad suturing skills. He did not close my wound with proper alinement and with adequate eversion of the skin. You can see the terrible step-off the skin and the notch in the columella. After the surgery, my nose bled for 3 weeks because of poor wound closure. He put me on 2 weeks of extra antibiotics. He is rude and swears with foul language on the phone and in his office on various occasions. Months later, he looked at my post-op photos but flat out denied the issues existed. That was very scary. Such obvious issues are confirmed by other doctors. He banked unused rib above the muscles in my chest. This resulted a huge bump in my chest. He kept me wondering about why my chest was deformed for over 2 months before informing me of this. He refused to provide me with surgical photos by telling me that he never takes photos of patients' noses during surgeries. He only sent me photos of before surgery and after surgery. But obviously, all photos were automatically named with sequential numbers by his camera. It is obviously there were lots of photos in between such numbers taken during surgery which he did not want to disclose. A year later, when I requesting a partial refund, he gave me the runaround. He demanded me to fly to Los Angeles for the refund. Later he stopped answering my email. The bottom line: he learned or inherited the rude bedside manners, dishonesty, and unethical behaviors probably from his parents. This man is not mentally stable and is a jerk. When I pointed out what was obviously not right when we were looking at my post-surgical photos together in his office, he flat out denied the issues by say:" there is no problem there, you have a great nose." Another doctor who recently revised my nose took this photo of the inside of my nose. He told me that Dr. Hyman added unnecessary grafts on the sides of my septum, especially with this big one on the left side. He said with such unnecessary grafts, Dr. Hyman still failed to keep the columella in the midline, because the septal extension graft was anchored over 4 millimeters away from the center point where it should have been (where anterior nasal spine is). Dr. Hyman is a master of his craft! I had a primary rhinoplasty in March 2024 and was left with both subpar aesthetic and functional outcomes. I had severe alar retraction, saddle nose deformity, a drooping tip, nasal collapse, etc. From the first virtual consult with Dr. Hyman, I immediately felt that he both saw and validated my concerns and was able to identify the areas to be fixed, even over a video call. He had a plan to fix my issues and was realistic with my expectations for a revision result. I was looking for an extreme turnaround in revision surgery--just over 9 months--as my wedding was quickly approaching. (Also posted on RealSelf) I had a revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Ari Hyman in May 2023, and it's one of the biggest regrets of my life. I paid $22,000 and was left with a nose that looks deformed, has caused me years of pain, and led to serious emotional distress. From the start, the result was disappointing. The original asymmetry wasn't fixed. Dr. Hyman used very large rib grafts that made my nose look bulkier and unnaturally sharp. Just one week after surgery, the tip already looked too pointy--and it got worse with time. It became hard, sharp, and clearly distorted. Since then, I've seen several top revision surgeons who all said the grafts were excessive, too rigid, and poorly shaped. Dr. Hyman also reduced only one nostril--the right one. The scar wasn't hidden in the natural crease, but placed about 2-3 cm outside of it. The stitching was rough and left stretch marks. My nose bled a lot during recovery. Months later, a stitch even pushed out through the bottom of my nose, and Dr. Hyman had to remove it painfully. He took rib cartilage for the grafts and said he put the leftover rib back. But I had rib pain for two years. Other surgeons now believe this was because the rib was placed under the muscle--something that's not typically done and may have been done wrong. One of the most troubling parts was how little transparency there was. I asked several times for the name and qualifications of the nurse who assisted during surgery, but never got an answer. The IV was placed incorrectly, and my hand hurt for nearly a month. I told Dr. Hyman about this, but nothing came of it. Whenever I shared concerns, I felt dismissed. At one point, he told me he had created a "unique shape"--which felt completely invalidating after everything I'd been through. The surgery lasted 6 hours under general anesthesia. My nose stayed swollen much longer than normal, felt tight from graft tension, and looked uneven in all lighting. It looked nothing like the Photoshop images he had shown me. When I left a comment on his social media expressing concern, I was blocked shortly after. That might be part of why it's hard to find honest, negative reviews about him online. This experience left me socially isolated and crushed my self-esteem for two years. I feel like I lost not just money, but part of my youth, my confidence, and even my rib--to a surgery I now deeply regret. Please be careful. I had my first rhinoplasty in January 2023 with another surgeon but was not totally happy with the results. I had a prominent dorsal hump that was removed during that surgery, improving my side profile; however, my nose, especially when I smiled, appeared pointy/sharp and drooped down (see photos). The side profile was much better than before that first rhinoplasty, but it didn't look totally natural and there were a few other features I was unhappy with as well. I thought I was content with the surgery at first, thinking the things I did not like would improve as swelling decreased, but the more photos I saw of myself as the year progressed and the more the swelling decreased, the more I realized I was unhappy. About a year after my first surgery, I decided to get a revision. I figured that if I pay that much for my nose, I wanna feel proud of that thang and parade it around town. Revision costs a pretty penny, especially with a good surgeon, but I decided I was willing to make that investment for myself. When I decided to get a revision, I was much more knowledgeable about what to look for in a surgeon. I first found Dr. Hyman's work on Instagram, and was consistently impressed with pretty much every single result. He seemed to just make people's noses fit their faces, and his results appear natural and beautiful. There were other well-known surgeons I looked at, but I actually didn't like their results as consistently. Dr. Hyman is also very well versed with revisions, which is key, as revisions are more complex than primary rhinoplasties. After my consult and the review of his work, I felt 100x more confident with Dr. Hyman as my surgeon that the surgeon I had the first time. The actual surgical experience was also much more comfortable than my first, largely due to the nerve blocks Dr. Hyman administers. I am only 5 weeks out and still have swelling to go down, but I am already so happy with my result. I had a disappointing experience with this surgeon. He immediately pointed out flaws without listening to my concerns or reviewing my previous surgery details, and he didn't even examine my nose. The consultation felt extremely rushed and impersonal, and he quoted $25,000 without addressing what I specifically wanted done. I genuinely wanted him to be my doctor, but having surgery on your face is already such a vulnerable and nerve-wracking experience. I couldn't imagine having a third surgery and spending $25,000 with someone who made the consultation so uncomfortable. For context, I already spent that amount with one of the most famous nose surgeons in the world, and even he couldn't fix my nose. What struck me as odd is that both consultations--his and this one--felt the same. I have had 7 prior rhinoplasties (yup 7). Long story: was botched and have spent thousands trying to get it fixed, with each surgery making it worse or presenting new problems. I found Dr Hyman through a Facebook revision rhinoplasty group. I was impressed with his work, as his noses weren't bulky and looked feminine, which is what I was looking for. With all my surgeries, my nose had become wide with a Polly beak and retracted columella. A contributing factor in choosing Dr Hyman was that he is also an artist who paints and draws and my experience has taught me that just because you have trained to be a cosmetic surgeon doesn't mean you have an artistic eye. Dr Hyman clearly has an artistic eye. I can't adequately express how happy I am that I found and chose Dr Hyman. I have attached a before and after pic here and as you can see, it speaks volumes. Having thick skin, I am blown away by the improvement only 1 month out. Due to so many surgeries, I have been doing regular HBOT treatments, and although expensive, I believe they have helped. I had an incredible experience with Dr. Hyman, I highly recommend him! I had a rhinoplasty with Dr. Hyman almost two weeks ago and had my cast removed last week. I am already in love with my nose - it's exactly what I wanted today and will only get better with time as the swelling goes down. I really valued other people's reviews when I was deciding, so I'm going to be very detailed in mine to hopefully help someone make their decision! But, bottom line - Dr. Hyman & his entire team were wonderful and you will be so happy with your decision to see him! I first found Dr. Hyman on TikTok, I knew I wanted surgery but I wanted to hear someone's verbal testimony to help decide. The patient had a great experience so I proceeded to do more research and contact the office. Lushes in the front office was SO helpful and informative - she answered all of my questions and I immediately scheduled a consultation. At the consultation, Dr. Hyman created a digital morph of what my result would be based on what I didn't like about my nose and I was obsessed. What I really appreciated about him was that understood exactly what I wanted and was thoughtful and considerate (didn't try to sell me on something) which made me trust him even more. I booked my surgery with Tina before I left the office. Tina is lovely, so kind and helpful (and has been so invested in my surgery and recovery throughout the whole process, which I really appreciate!). The whole team was wonderful leading up to my surgery and made sure I was well-informed and prepared to head into the procedure. I had my official pre-op appointment with Dr. Hyman the day before surgery, discussed exactly what result I wanted and left feeling ready to head into the procedure the next morning. The team who helped with the actual surgery - the nurse, surgical tech, and anesthesiologist - was so comforting and lovely. I felt really comfortable, took a nap and woke up with a new (casted) nose! Recovery was honestly quite easy. I felt no pain whatsoever, there was some discomfort from not being able to breathe through my nose but it was very manageable. My cast removal was quick and easy as well and I LOVE the result. So far the feedback I've gotten is: "it's the most natural nose job I have ever seen," "you still look like you, but better," and "WHO was your doctor." I had a rhinoplasty and septoplasty performed by Dr.Hyman on 9/4/20 and my experience so far has been amazing :-) My nose was broken and there were a few things I wanted to improve about the appearance which was the wideness of my nostrils, the roundness of the tip & to perfect the slope because it had a tiny bump. He achieved all of that so beautifully and I'm in love with my new nose. I'm so happy with my results at this point and they are just going to get better as the swelling continues to go down. In any case, I DO know that this is the most talented surgeon around. He's a master at those (seemingly) subtle improvements to your face that just make the necessary difference. Beyond his skill, he is also attentive, confident but humble, tactful, and super easy to talk to. I am so fortunate to live in the area, but I'd have traveled anywhere to have Dr Hyman work on my nose. His work is of such high quality that everyone should know. The women in this office are amazing, supportive. Ari Hyman, on the other hand was rude, abrupt, insulting, impatient. I had THE most horrible consultation (that I paid $300 to have) only to be looked at with disgust. This man had 1 agenda- to tell me how "grossly aging I was" and the ONLY fix was face lift. He kept asking me to look into the mirror so he could continue to embarrass and humiliate me. I get it- I am aging but NO "Doctor" should ever impatiently discourage ideas and make someone feel terrible about how they look. I assumed for $300 I would have a decent conversation. 2 words: Rhinoplasty King Short review: Dr Hyman made my nose straight as a ski slope and gave me a perfect Diamond tip. He is extremely skilled and gifted surgeon. Save your money from booking endless consultations and go with him. You will not be disappointed. Long Review: I live 2 miles from Beverly Hills and went to consultations with all the big name Doctors you probably know and follow on IG. I just wasn't really impressed so I decided to make the drive over the hill to Encino to see Dr. Hyman. I had it narrowed down to 5 that I really loved and after my consultation with Dr. Hyman I canceled the other 2 and booked with him the next day. His work speaks for itself. Every nose is consistently amazing. Every other Doctor was kinda hit or miss with the pics. But I felt confident that Dr. Hyman would give me the nose of my dreams and I was right. He is also super nice and down to earth. So many surgeons in LA have a huge ego, bur Dr. Hyman is professional and easy to talk to. He will explain to you exactly what he's going to do and even go over all the technical details with you. He is seriously a Master at his craft. I'm like I want it all done if I'm paying to go under. So I did a chin implant, liposuction/fat transfer and platysmaplasty for my visible neck bands in addition to the rhinoplasty. I'm only a little over 2 weeks post op and still have a lot of healing to do but the results are already amazing. Everything ran so smoothly the day of surgery and the office staff is amazing from Shantel to Katrina. Seriously all so sweet and professional. Everything was a breeze. I will say the recovery was a bit rough but 100% worth it. I hope it's a while until I need anything else done lol but when I do need a facelift or anything else I know I'll back to see Dr. Hyman. After consulting with about 4 top plastic surgeons in LA area we made a decision to go with Dr. Hyman for my daughters rhinoplasty. My daughter had a friend who had surgery with Dr. Hyman and her results were beyond gorgeous. It was probably the best looking nose we've ever seen. This didn't make sense because on Dr. Hyman's instagram not all the results were that beautiful and some looked big so we had some doubts. But being able to see his results in person helped make our decison. Well what we learned is that you don't look like a barbie doll the day after surgery and even at 3 months when he takes many of his photos those noses have a long way to go before they are the final size. His recovery takes time and patience but in about 4-6 months you will end up with the most beautiful nose. Not only will you look like you are born with it but you will look like you won the nose lottery. We feel so lucky that by chance we found Dr. Hyman. I don't think anyone else does what he does. You can tell when someone has had nose work but with him you really can't and not because its still "natural" which to me just means not a great nose but because its so beautiful with a perfect profile, with aesthetically ideal trip slope and just the right length and width. My older daughter also ended up going to Dr. Hyman after seeing her sister's results, to do her revision from a previous dr who did a decent job but it was nothing like what Dr. Hyman did for her. He gave her a gorgeous nose as well. His recovery time is longer but when all the swelling goes down its amazing,. He is truly a gifted surgeon. It's been 11 months since my procedure, and I am beyond happy with my results! First of all, Dr. Hyman is so nice and has such a laid back demeanor that he makes you immediately feel comfortable. I loved his idea for what we should do and the digital sketch done during our first consult. His team are all so lovely and make you feel very welcome. After surgery, I felt absolutely zero pain and had minor bruising. I know this is not typical because I've had friends that have done rhinoplasty (not through Dr. Hyman) and the recovery was much worse. This was so seamless and looks very natural. I am writing this review in the most respectful way I can. I hardly write reviews, but I feel this one is extremely crucial because people should be aware of others experiences. Please use your own judgement and instincts. I am just sharing my personal experience. DO YOUR DILIGENT RESEARCH. Instagram does not always portray what you think. Trust me trust me trust me. The best way to test if a doctor is honest is to ask if you can speak to any former patients who have given consent. I did this after my consultation and of course, I didn't hear back from them, on top of the rude treatment I experienced. I would have NEVER expected him to be that way. Before I consulted with Dr. Hyman in person I was in touch about my revision surgery. I was extremely hopeful he would be the best doctor for it. I experienced quite a few "challenges" with their front desk and coordinator first when booking my initial consultation. The prices of the consultation changed 3 times every time I spoke with someone when I called. I finally had to get the consultation price from Hyman. I have a friend who met with him before me and to say she had a horrible experience is an understatement- however, that is not my story to tell. When I asked him why I keep getting different prices for the consult he asked if I remembered correctly or if I was confused between the difference of a consultation price and a surgery booking price? This was odd. I was not confused and highly aware of what I was asking. I finally went to my consultation just to see him for myself to assess the situation in person. I was on time for the appointment but still had to wait an hour due to other patients going over there time. He was extremely dismissive when arriving, went straight computer imaging. I wasn't able to ask a lot of important questions and he told me that he was in a rush because he had other patients waiting in the room...I paid for a consultation, had to wait an hour, and I was in shock. First off, my nose is not even that bad.. but even if it was, the main focus should not be to exaggerate and passively aggressively criticize to sell you. He needed to truly take time to answer my questions and assess my nose from an individual approach. I sent an email shortly after to consult more about cost and to express my concerns about the consultation. I heard back from Hyman once, and was told I would hear back for another consultation, but never heard back from there ( it was a blessing in disguise). read more

Dr. Hyman is an incredible incredible surgeon! I had a broken nose that Dr.Hyman repaired in February 2019. Being African American I was worried about getting the "Micheal Jackson" look from repair. He was so knowledgeable and professional he made me feel so confident in going forward with fixing my broken nose. He was very knowledgeable on African American rhinoplasty and knew exactly what needed to be corrected to avoid a bad surgery. He explained every detail of the process to me and was always open with communication before and after my surgery. He did an AMAZING job and I couldn't be happier! Love Dr. Hyman!!! I have been meaning to write this review for a while but I had my septo/rhino back in late June and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! It was something I had always wanted, but hesitated out of fear of looking too different. Let me just say it was hands down the best decision I made for myself. He listened to my concerns and delivered exactly what I wanted! I still look like me but improved. I had my wedding and could not have felt more beautiful. I can't say enough about Dr. Hyman and his amazing staff. From the first consultation on, I knew this place was the right one for my rhinoplasty ( septoplasty) to be done. I have no words to describe my gratitude... Let me start this story... Last year I had a mid facelift (with another doctor) After a couple of months I started to get bumps on my face and neck and I went to see the doctor who made the procedure, and he said that those bumps were not related to the surgery and it could be anything, even cancer! He told me to see another doctor and wished me good luck, never called me or anything. I was desperate! After 2 months of craziness doing different tests and going to different doctors, hospitals without knowing what was going on with my face, a doctor at UCLA recommended me to go and see Dr Hyman's office, Amen! From the minute you walk in you feel welcome. Everyone working there is amazing! and Dr Hyman is a gem!
