I had my first rhinoplasty 20 years ago with a different doctor and I was in desperate need of a revision. Revision rhinoplasty is scary, especially because my first experience didn't go the way I had hoped. I was nervous but I trusted my gut after seeing Dr. Jason's photos -- he posts pictures from all angles, not just the side profile shots that everyone else uses. That to me was the most important factor differentiating him from other plastic surgeons. My results look completely natural, which is exactly what he specializes in. It looks like I have the nose I was supposed to have. It fits my face, it looks like me, and I so much prettier and more confident now. In late 2024, I had an anomaly show up on my mammogram. I was going to need explant surgery, and the sooner the better. I'm a long-term patient within the UCLA system, so I started the process of finding a plastic surgeon to consult with. UCLA matched me with Dr. Jason Roostaeian, and I'm so thankful for it. From the very first meeting, I knew I was in the right hands. Dr. Jason spoke to me directly and with compassion, letting me know that I was going to be okay. I felt so comfortable from that moment on. After lengthy discussion, I opted to also have a mastopexy during the explant surgery to help with the appearance. I was going to have an insurance change in the new year, so if the explant surgery couldn't be scheduled before the end of the year, I'd have to start the approval process all over again. Worst experience. I spent $25K on a nose job from Dr. Roostaeian on Feb 24 2025. I still have a bump. My projection is huge. My nose is still crooked. My swelling was horrendous. I had clear instructions and photos of what I wanted and he was not even close. He said he would only shave the bump but it would cost me $4500 extra now. So I have to pay to fix his mistake? Furthermore they were so nice and welcoming before you get the surgery but then once I got the surgery and they got my money their attitude totally changed. Lilibeth made a mistake and accidentally did not tell me the appointment she made for me was on video call and not in-person so I show up to the appointment and he wasn't there and then his head medical assistant tells me I cant take the video call with him in the office and blames me for the mistake. He told me his house burnt down which I definitely am sorry for but think he should not have performed a surgery under that type of stress. I also expressed to him that I saved up for this nose job bc growing up my parents wouldn't pay for it and then he said their are worse things in life and I replied yes I know my mom passed away and he goes well my did died too. Very unprofessional and inappropriate. There was also a random piece of something in my nose and I was out of town for work and had to leave my work trip early to fly back and he couldn't figure out what was in my nose. I have spent countless hours and time and money to go back to his office to try to reason with them to fix their mistakes but this office lacks any accountability. Dr.Jason did an amazing job removing a large Basel cell spot from near my right eye. The scar is hardly noticeable. Even two week after my surgery- I looked almost perfect for my Honeymoon. There was an issue that preceded the surgery. My surgery was scheduled for 11am on a Friday. At 3pm, I was still waiting and I inquired about the delay. I was told they would have to cancel the surgery that day. As I had my mohs two days prior - I had 2 inch open wound in my face..I had to argue for an advocate. Let me make this very clear. His office is ABSOLUTELY awful to deal with even though he is a great surgeon. ALSO UCLA SUCKS! Worst hospital I've ever had to deal with and experience. I had to have revision surgery because I broke my nose very badly. I had my first rhinoplasty because of a previous broken nose. They will bill your insurance for the sinus surgery but charge you for the plastic surgery portion even if you have plastic surgery coverage. You request a bill from his office for the out of pocket portion to provide your insurance which you have to beg to get. Office staff will treat you like crap. Reschedule you multiple times for follow ups. Forget to send your prescriptions. FYI, this wasn't only happening to me. It happened to my two family members who had surgeries with him within the 6 months before I went in. Sure he can have good work but you deal with a lot of pain and suffering for the amount of money you're spending. This isn't a Beverly Hills surgeon. He's a Beverly Hills adjacent surgeon with an absolutely low budget office, incompetent staff. He and his staff will also beg you to remove negative reviews. He does good work but honestly think I put too much faith in him as I'm still very swollen post surgery (8 months post op). He told me it would take a year to see full results when I saw him at my 4 month appointment. Then told me over the phone after reading my negative reviews it would take 2-3 years because it's a revision. I guess time will tell. Forgot to tell you that you will feel nickeled and dimmed because every time you go in to see him, you have to pay a co-pay, even though you paid a hefty amount for the plastic surgery portion. What's the point of a follow up if I just constantly have to give someone money for a major surgery that I paid out-of-pocket for. Make it make sense. You take insurance for sinus surgery but not plastic surgery then you pay a copay to see him for your plastic surgery post op? I see multiple drs who don't accept insurance, and their office actually bill my insurance for me for reimbursement. I'm more than willing to spend money on great doctors but this one is not worth the headache. HE IS MIRACLE WORKER!!!!!!! I had over 6 surgeries on my nose and each one made my nose MUCH WORSE ..one Dr. cut alot of skin away. After spending right under seven years researching for the best rhinoplasty specialist in Southern California, I am so thankful to have went with Dr. Jason Roostaeian (pronounced roost-eye-n). I do obsessive web sleuthing when it comes to who I trust with my face, and Dr. Roostaeian had my full trust. 1. I really appreciate his natural aesthetic with noses. Nearly every rhinoplasty plastic surgeon specialist has a signature nose where all of their noses look the same, or have that excessive slope, or the nose is too delicate and looks like it will break. Dr. Jason's noses are natural, finessed, classy, and he specializes in ethnic preservation, which I loved. I was so scared about not looking like myself, and writing this almost a year post, my nose feels like the best version of me. Not somebody else's nose on my face. 2. His accolades. I first came to see Dr. Roostaeian in July when I broke my nose playing softball. Knowing that I had a short window to fix my fracture his office was very accommodating and got me in. I was scheduled for surgery within days of my visit. At that time I also expressed some cosmetic concerns that I wanted to change and my breathing. The repair of the fracture went well and I was scheduled to see him back in November for a septorhinoplasty. At the time of my pre op Dr Roostaeian knew exactly what I wanted. I had a dorsal hump and I didn't like my profile. I was always self conscious of my nose. I wanted a more refined tip and I just felt like my nose didn't fit my face. Durning this visit he took his time. By taking a profile photo of me on my cell phone he was able to show me how he would fix my concerns. The day of my surgery came and everything went smoothly. Dr Roostaeian made me feel very comfortable and I knew I was in the right hands. My recovery was actually easy. I was sent home with instructions for post op care. I felt very minimal pain, just a little discomfort. After 2 days post op I was already out to dinner with my family. I had almost no bruising! I went for my post op visit to remove the splints and cast. Wow!!! The results brought me to tears. Not only did he address my cosmetic concerns but I was actually able to breathe better. WORST DOCTOR YOU CAN GO TO!!!! PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! I went to see Dr. Roostaeian at UCLA thinking that it would be a reputable place to see a surgeon. What was supposed to be a simple deviated septum surgery turned into the nightmare of my life! (I was referred to a plastic surgeon as the deviation in my nose was at the tip and they required the expertise of a plastic surgeon versus just an ENT). He removed 70% of my right side turbinates BY MISTAKE!!! and I was left with a 1.5 cm hole in the middle of my septum because the plugs put in there after surgery were too tight!!! I was left with a condition called "Empty Nose Syndrome" where you cannot feel like you are breathing, because the nerve endings which are located in the turbinates were removed. Giving an empty space in the nose cavities hence the name. It is a horrible situation as you cannot "feel" like your are breathing. You feel nothing. No sensation of oxygen going up your nose. I called him and told him about what he had done, and he offered to do ANOTHER surgery on me to fix the hole, and apologized about the removal of the turbinates claiming that a student did that on me, while trying to remove a polyp! SAY WHAT??? you gave the knife to a student, for him to remove part of the inside of my nose??? ALL other ENT's I consulted (all 13 of them), advised against a second surgery for the tissue was already damaged and also, to "fix" the hole they need to pull tissue from inside the nose, which I had none, as he removed 70% of it. I couldn't feel like I could breathe for months. Can you imagine that? To not feel air going through your nose. Nothing. This lead to extreme anxiety and I stopped sleeping, fell into a deep depression, psychosis and paranoia from the lack of sleep. It took me 13 ENT visits for doctors to figure out that what was wrong and why I couldn't feel like I was breathing, and it was because the anatomy of my nose was removed and also because of that huge hole left in the middle of my septum, the airflow (air pressure) is not enough to go all the way up. Think of it like a hose... if it has a hole, the water pressure fails and water won't come out as strong. Same thing with oxygen up your nose. This happened to me 4 years ago, I tried to put this nightmare behind me as my road to recovery was a long and hard one, and to move on... I didn't want the bitterness of a legal battle on me as my road to recovery was a long and hard one. But then I realized that I had to put my story out there so people are careful and can learn from my experience! Oh, and did I mention that during that first visit to Roostaeian he gave me a mirror to look at myself and said: "Since you're going under general anesthesia you should take advantage and get some other stuff fixed!!!!" He left me in the room with the mirror in my hands, and came back 15 minutes later, asking if I'd be interested in a boob job, or liposuction!! I politely said that I was happy with both my breasts and the extra poundage I might have had back then. It was like he was offering surgery like it was candy, and needless to say how offensive that was. I should have known back then. But I believed that UCLA was a good school and I did hear about that they do only take 1 student a year and it was him, so I thought I would give him a try. Worst mistake of my life. It cost me my mental health for a whole year- I went literally crazy, didn't sleep for weeks in a row, was shaking with anxiety all the time, I was suicidal, almost placed in a psych ward because of the psychosis and paranoia, I lost my job, emptied my 401K to pay for all the doctors I saw, I almost lost my marriage... it was a nightmare I thought I would never wake up from. But I did. Today, I am good, mentally and physically I have learned a new way to breathe and for my brain to process that I am actually breathing. It is despicable what this doctor did. I sincerely hope this very honest (and very long) review helps you. A couple things that really stood out to me: 1) Jason really understands the anatomy. He's not operating in some Beverly Hills office - he's operating at UCLA, and you should know the difference. That surgery program is among the most exclusive in the world - they pick 1 student per year - and Dr. Roostaeian was once one of those students. He is also an Associate Professor at UCLA, he teaches seminars with colleagues twice his age, and is consistently at the forefront of new trends in facial anatomy and surgery techniques. To say this man is a genius is an understatement. I knew how skilled he was based on his specialty, education, residency, etc. However, I am completely blown away by the final product of my nose. I had a septoplasty and rhinoplasty a week ago and at one week post-op, the results of my nose are beyond what I could have ever imagined. The final result is so natural looking and I finally feel like I have the confidence I've been waiting for my whole life. Yet, I still look like myself, which I love. One of my favorite things about him is that he listens to what you want and does it to a tee. I had requested for him to only touch the bump of my nose to make it look more natural and to not touch the front part for fear of it looking turned up. Once the cast was removed, I was in awe at how he did exactly that. A lot of other doctors think they know best and ignore your wishes. However, he did exactly what I asked for and I am so thankful to him for that. In addition, I can finally breathe through my nose! I had never been able to breathe and he built a back door for the airway to go through and cleared out my deviated septum. I've never inhaled such a refreshing breathe in my life. I am certain it will help me sleep better too. I know that trusting a doctor to do any type of procedure is anxiety-provoking, especially because a lot of LA doctors have an ego. Dr. Roostaeian is amazing. I broke my nose my senior year of high school. I was referred to Dr. Roostaeian to repair my broken nose. His office was very accommodating, as I needed surgery within a window of 14 days. I am an athlete so it was important to recover as soon as possible. Within 14 days his office got me for a consult and scheduled me for surgery. Later for my deviated septum I knew I would trust no one else but Dr. Roostaeian. Not only did he take the time to explain everything that a deviated septum meant and reasons that could have caused it but he explained in a way that I totally understood. I live in Georgia now for school and again him and his office were very accommodating in getting me schedule durning my winter break from school. I consulted with a well known surgeon who's career I had followed for a decade, and was featured on Plastic Surgery Before & After. I was unimpressed after meeting this physician as he suggested a procedure that i did not think I needed. He also didn't explain what he had recommended well- instead referring my medical questions to his non-medical coordinator. Hesitant, I put off surgery for the next 8 years. I consulted with Dr. Jason after my hiatus, and was drawn to him because of his credentials. At my initial consultation he was very thorough in his examination. He offered precise medical explanations as to what he would do, and painted a very realistic picture of what my results would be. He listened to my requests and was candid in his responses. At the end of the consultation I knew no further consultations were required as I had found my doctor. Post operatively, Dr. Jason and Melissa were very attentive. Surgery went as predicted and so did my recovery. At 3 months post-op, my TT scar is a thin line with no keloids. Anyone with AA skin knows that wound healing is key. There were no loose sutures, no infection, and the JP drain was embedded within the scar line, so no additional scar site upon its removal. My belly button is an "inie", and does not have that telltale circular scar that normally accompanies most TTs. I now have breast symmetry from the reduction and lift, the scars- which are a thin line, are hidden under the breast. So from my cleavage and side boob, the scars are not visible at all. I can go braless for the first time since 7th grade, and it looks so good! People think I have implants- in a good way, because the results are very realistic. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jason and his work, and I've not even mentioned his very sweet and caring demeanor. Melissa his coordinator is equally personable and caring, and so thorough. A few weeks ago while on a mini vacation i broke my nose (worst pain ever), my nose shifted instantly and i did not go to the ER. I came to LA and contacted a few doctors and none of them thought i was worth the time since i had insurance and did not want cosmetic work done, these doctors asked between 12,500- $19,000 to fix my nose (NO THANK YOU) After reading all reviews on Dr. Roostaeian I decided to give him a call, Lili his assistant is awesome she gave me an appointment right away, went in saw the awesome doctor and told him I didn't need cosmetic work just fix my nose.
