I was referred to Ashley at Aria by one of my very good friends. At the time I wasn't committed to any stylist and usually waited at least a year for a hair cut in fear of what it would look like. It may sound crazy, but my hair literally only grew on one side only. I finally went to see Ashley when my long side of hair was about 2 inches longer and it was starting to be obvious. When I explained the situation and told Ashley over and over again that I only wanted one side cut so that my hair didn't ultimately get any shorter, because all I really wanted in life was long luscious hair, she at first didn't believe me and probably thought I was little crazy too. But after looking at my hair it was clear there was something off. She even called over the other stylist to show them and to see if anyone else had ever had a client with this situation. In the end, she gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. My hair looked almost just as long and most important it didn't look like I just got a haircut. I hate when you can tell someone just got a haircut because all the ends are at the exact same point. Most importantly she gave me little tricks to hopefully help my hair grow more. She told me to not wash my hair every day, and to use dry shampoo in-between washes, and to use product and a brush when blow drying and straightening. I got my hair cut back in October and it has already grown so much, and evenly! Oh, and I loved my highlights too. I'm pretty picky with highlights, I don't want it to look like I got highlights, I want them thin and blended and not at all red. Anthony is really good. He suggested a haircut that i would never thought i will like and easy to manage. He understands what the client wants and he made sure the client likes the haircut. He even gives you a handheld mirror so you can see how your back looks like. :) read more

I've been going to Aria for several months now, and I will admit I'm a bit biased and started going here because my cousin, Ashley, is one of the stylists. However, I come from the suburbs into the city every several weeks just to get my hair styled by her, and not just because she's family. Ashley has a fantastic ability to hear exactly what you're saying when you explain what you want, even if you think you're not making any sense. And this isn't just because we know each other - I've referred two friends to her since she's been at Aria, and they both have been thrilled with the results. She ends up translating any details and descriptions you discussed perfectly when executing the cut/color. I have never once been disappointed by any of her work. Aria itself is a lovely salon. It's very clean, and parking is always available on Ashland - most of the time I park literally in front of the salon. The vibe is super friendly and welcoming, yet still is very professional. There's always a huge selection of the latest magazines, so if you're getting a lengthy service, don't worry about getting stuck reading like, April 2007's Woman's Day. Prices are as expected and run around the same, if not just a touch higher, compared to other places I've been, but it's worth it because every client there seems to be happy with their final results. Ryan is magical! His precision and technique is better than any other stylist I have been to in Chicago and other cities I have lived throughout the country. He really listens and is full of ideas and meshed those well with mine. He took the extra time to help me with styling techniques, since the second time I went to him we did a different haircut. On top of his amazing craft, his personality is adds to the experience. He is easy to hold a conversation with and doesn't try too hard. The chairs and shampoo bowls are also very comfortable. I went to Aria Salon yesterday after recently moving to Chicago and needing a new hairstylist. I was not disappointed! Rain did an amazing job with my partial highlight. She was sure to get all of my past hair history to be sure that she was mixing up the right color and toning it correctly. I was going for an ashier blond and she did not disappoint. I truly felt like she put the extra time in to achieve the color I wanted. I am naturally a brunette and this is the most natural blond has ever looked on me. She also gave me reasonable recommendations for products to use to keep my hair healthy and manageable. It was refreshing to not have only salon brand products shoved in my face. Lastly, as someone coming from the suburbs, I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing at Aria compared to other Chicago salons. I will definitely be coming back as I feel I have found a new place and person to take care of my hair! read more

Monica has been coloring my hair for over five years and she is the reason I ended up at Aria after following her from her two previous salons. I have made appointments three times via their text system and upon arriving I have been told that I do not have an appointment even though I had a confirmation on my mobile phone. Before coming to Aria Salon I frequented trendy hair salons throughout the city. The cuts I would get often didn't last more than a few weeks and didn't really fit my lifestyle (I'm a very low-maintenance hair person). Anthony has turned that beat around for me! 2 weeks ago I went in to meet for the first time Ryan at ARIA SALON, who I heard through the grapevine was an awesome stylist. I must admit he delivers! I have to thank all the Yelp reviewers who helped me encounter this artist and salon. He truly understood what I wanted after I showed him some examples of how I like to wear my hair, and he helped me keep my lengths with a healthy appearance. I had a hard time leaving the salon since I kept staring at how awesome I looked in the mirror, and I am not at all vain, (but just for that instance, I had a Vanity Smurf moment). Haircut was overall pretty good, but unfortunately the hairstylist's hands smelled like smoke which was really disgusting. Also, I appreciated the time the stylist took blow drying my hair, but they kept burning my scalp which was actually painful. I'm giving 3 stars due to the good cut, but Prob won't go back. read more

I just got the best cut in decades from Ryan . It was my first time at Aria . The Salon is very clean and uncluttered. Ryan met me as I walked in the door and he got to work , no waiting . He asked questions about my hair and he listened to what I wanted. I am a senior citizen and it can be rather intimidating going to a new place. Ryan put me at ease right away and we had a lot to talk about other than the weather. I have always said I would not praise a cut until I have washed and styled it myself at home. I have been going to this salon for the last couple of months for eyelash extensions by Aly. The salon is always well kept, the front desk girls are always very friendly and helpful and the spa room is very comfortable. I originally got a full set of eye lashes by aly and go in weekly to by weekly for a fill. I get so many compliments on my lashes and could not be happier. She does such an amazing job and making them look so natural! I would recommend aly to everyone and anyone! She is fantastic. read more

I have Asian hair. I've walked into many salons and have asked for "long layers" and instead ended up with some version of a mullet. I even always bring in a couple of photos of what I'm looking for and alas, I seem to be a mullet magnet. Luckily my hair chi has turned a corner thanks to Aria Salon and I've found a great place that will give you what you want but also provide gentle advice regarding what looks good for your face shape. For example, really short bangs vs face framing layers or how much length you should take off. In addition to getting a great haircut, this place is super clean, the stylists are personable without getting into your business and they are NEVER pushy about upselling you with some lame product or service you don't want. I have been to Salons all over the city and out in the western suburbs of Chicago, and this is by far on the top of my list! Everyone is unbelievably nice and welcoming! I make my appointments with Justin. I went in looking for an ombré and he suggested something a bit different for me for the summer. All I can say is wow! A pet peeve of mine is streaky highlights with a yellowish color and he steered clear of both! The final color was gorgeous and very festive for the summer. Overall very successful visit! read more

Anthony (the owner) always seems happy to see me and our conversations just pick up where they left off the last time I was there.
