My husband and I were walking around this area and we stumbled upon Contenna across the street (I think this is the sister restaurant because it is the same menu, but Contenna is more intimate). The host said they didn't have any seats at Contenna, so they brought us over to Aria. I was fine with this- I just wanted some good pasta. Their starter bread was so good. I think it was sourdough. It was warm and toasty. I had the spicy rigatoni with shrimp and it was *chef's kiss*. I also had a glass of Lambrusco and it was very good. Served was very nice and prompt. Came here with a friend who normally loves Asian but really wanted to try their pasta. She swore by their bolognese, and so I also got the cheese truffle gnocchi to just keep things a little more diversified on the table. Things we got: Fresh mozz and Tomato appetizer: (They were out I think of the buffala). PROS: - probably the most healthiest thing we ate minus the cheese haha. - good portions, we could share it and still had enough appetite for our pasta (thank goodness) - not overly salted (some places add way too much for some odd reason) CONS: - not so much a con, but I'd like a little bit more olive oil to go. Just a personal note for me. Truffle Gnocchi PROS: - GREAT quantity. It's a whole freaking bowl (almost) of fresh made gnocchi - super soft, super fluffy melt in your mouth gnocchi pasta - nice flavors, not overly salty CONS: - did NOT have as much of a truffle taste as I anticipated. - too much cheese and cream. (see picture). Some people love dairy, and while I like it this was a bit overkill. And I am not lactose intolerant. Bolognese Pasta: PROS: - great quantity - pasta tasted almost freshly made - good balance in the meat sauce, not too salty, not too watery, coats the pasta well. - (it's also my favorite kind of pasta) CONS: - dumb me should have gotten this instead. (NONE except for diner error). Oh man, was this good? Yes. I'd definitely come back for the bolognese. Had to take off one star for the gnocchi and also the lighting. Ate indoors for this one, but it was well ventilated. Service was fantastic, very attentive, never had to ask for anything. Forgot to take a picture of the tiramisu which was equally as good (or maybe I can't find it on my phone). They do require a CC reservation with a $50 hold (understandable given COVID). We accidentally stumbled upon this wine house due to our intended restaurant had been fully booked. Watch out your table server who was nice try to upsell. Don't get intimidated and be firm for what actually you need. Our table server who tried to intimidate us at the beginning never checked back on our table who deserves 1 star. In this place where the house uses hand held wireless card readers to total the bills and I felt kinda embarrassed in front of the server to decide which percentage (15% and up) of gratitude is appropriate. Unfortunately decent their kitchen's effort in tasty foods could not turn my vote on a better one. read more

Delicious Italian food in the city with a great ambiance? Sign me up. Randomly got a resy here on a weekday when meeting up with a friend. I believe this place does not get the hype it deserves. Although the restaurant is small and compact, it really gives off a cozy authentic feel. We had ordered a couple glasses of red wine alongside the burrata and a couple pasta options from the menu. The lobster ravioli and mushroom pasta (can't remember the name). But wow - each dish was so unique and really packed with flavor. Paired really well with the Syrah we ordered. Not only that, but everything was so reasonably priced and we ended up staying for close to 4 hours. The waiters were nice and let us hang out, which if you know is very uncommon in the city. I was a huge fan of the Aria at the old location on Perry street. I'm happy they survived the pandemic albeit at a new space now. The new spot is meaningfully smaller inside than the old one but has the same cozy dark vibe. I love that the bar is still the same tile look of the old place. I went here for dinner on a Saturday night and was seated promptly for my reservation (I did not experience long wait). I ordered some of my favorite things I'd order at the old location; food was as good as I remembered it. Staff was very friendly and very attentive of us. My only real complaint is that the table we were seated at was so small. Doesn't make a lot of sense for a place that does small plates and you want to order lots of them. I'll take the bar next time. The bright chip card reader thing was also a little bit of a vibe killer, but I assume it's a pandemic thing (please do away with this once you can). Not enough of a big deal to knock off a star though. I had a great time and I definitely recommend this place for early in the game dates. read more

I recently went here for a small engagement party - group of 10 people. It was a truly horrible experience, from the actual restaurant to the service. First, and most importantly, the table we were sat at was infested with flies (all around the table, in our hair, in our drinks, etc.) - a health violation if I've ever seen one. The photo attached shows the graveyard of dead flies at our table. When we (naturally) asked to be seated at a table that was not infested with flies, they did not accommodate. We were waiting for at least 40 minutes for a new table. While we were "waiting for a table" we asked to order drinks, and were told no. I was shocked. Not only were we swatting flies left and right, we weren't moved to a new table, and they wouldn't serve us. We finally got up and left. I would never recommend this restaurant to a friend, and in fact, have told all my friends about our awful experience. read more

He was brash, obnoxious and literally told us "you guys have to leave I have a lot of people waiting" when I had barely touched my pasta. We were in the resto for about an hour at this point. The food was brought out so quickly from when we ordered, I don't think anything was particularly fresh and arrived cold. On top of that, this man was aggressive with literally kicking us out , including the couple next to us, and hovered on top of us when we were paying with the card machine, making it awkward for tipping. This place totally screwed up my delivery! I told them all must be gluten free. When food arrived it had bread on top of the entree. This is not a safe place to order from if you have food allergies. Love their pastas, and their lunch specials are a great deal! Some of the negative reviews seem extreme. They do get busy during the weekend and I'm sure the wait is expected. Their servers are also super nice, sure they may try to get you buy a few extra things like wine and dessert but I think that's part of the experience. The hostess did not request proof of vaccination for indoor dining which was very disappointing.

I used to be a frequent customer when they were on Perry street but with this move it seems that they forgot to bring customer service and common courtesy along with them. Upon being seated we asked our waiter if there was any chance he could turn off the very strong ceiling light above our table that was blinding me. He offered us to move to the table next to us which had just been set. As we were getting up to move the bald manager started shouting at us in front of the whole restaurant that we were not allowed to move since he needed that table for another reservation. After being treated like dirt by this rude manager we took our things and left. If the owner is reading this message I suggest that you either teach this manager basic manners (since evidently his parents failed at it) or put him in a position not in contact with clients (maybe washing dishes). Needless to say I will not be returning to this place. (Ps: the table next to us said that their truffle pasta was bland). read more

I've been going to Aria (the old location and the sister restaurants for 5 years) and it's usually one of my favorite pasta places in the city - tasty and affordable. We had a reservation at 8:15pm on a Saturday but weren't seated until 9:10pm. The hostess was very sweet but they were clearly overbooked. We told them we had to leave by 9:45 for a comedy show and the waiter was accommodating but we were still upset at how much we had to rush through dinner. We were seated outside as it was the only option but had made the res for inside. The outside was insanely loud and the tables were so close. On top of that, my favorite dish, the pesto & artichokes had no artichokes at all. Still a very tasty pesto but I expect more from a place I have enjoyed for years. read more

Our dinner took 3 hours... all we ordered was an appetizer to share + 1 entree to share.... food is meh.
