We hired Thomas Landscaping to pour concrete in November 2023, and it's been one long chain of excuses and frustration ever since. By December, we noticed the concrete color was completely wrong. When we contacted them, we were told it was "still curing." That same excuse continued for months -- even nine months later! Despite countless emails, texts, and photos, nothing was done. After consulting several independent contractors, we learned the issue was likely caused by moisture during the winter pour -- and that it would never correct itself. When their own concrete rep finally admitted the same, they still didn't take responsibility. Their insurance refused to cover the work because of missing paperwork and uninsured subcontractors. In the end, we paid $47,000 to have the entire job redone ourselves. Their "settlement" offer? $5,000. This experience has been exhausting, expensive, and incredibly disappointing. Please save yourself the stress and money -- avoid Thomas Landscaping at all costs.

She told him that I need mulch, which he provided and, falling into my trap, he gave me some advice on my tree, an enormous sycamore. Since then, we've had all of our trees (quite a few) trimmed by Legacy. I am impressed with their skill, pricing, clean up, and friendly service. They even trimmed my neighbor's Palm. I hired him and he said he could be back on Monday to do the work. They gave me a courtesy call to let me know when they will be coming onto the property. Once our luggage was inside, we immediately called two companies for estimates. Both had solid reputations and sent someone over. In less than two hours we had their quotes. We liked both but interestingly, one was a whopping 40% lower than the other. That company was G Garcia Tree Service. Miguel Garcia wrote up the contract and got to work that afternoon. He was GREAT... very friendly, thorough and professional. Our driveway was swept clean, the tree and all its limbs were gone that day and the larger logs, as promised, were hauled away early the next morning. Since then they've attended to everything from general maintenance to special projects involving plantings, drip irrigation and soil amendments. Rafael is very attentive to our needs and is always available and communicative. Amazing Company and A+ Team…read more I contacted Alvarez Landscaping in October 2017 to work on Phase 1 of a landscaping project at my home. Raphael came highly recommended by my general contractor. My first meeting with Raphael was extremely positive, we discussed options for tree plantings, which trees would grow well in the specified location, and when the project could commence and finish. What was even more complicated was that I was moving some of the electrical panels with PG&E and moving the location of water tanks and irrigation with a GC, so the Alvarez team would have to coordinate the movement of irrigation and tree planting with at least a couple of other firms. Raphael gave me a firm bid and shook my hand that he would be there with me and the GC through the process. The overall experience was incredible. Raphael Alvarez is a true professional. He stayed true to his word on the bid (even through the trying times of the Sonoma County fires and aftermath). The result is beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend Raphael and Alvarez Landscaping to anyone in the Healdsburg community or SF Bay Area. He cleared out our hillside which is on a steep slope and had left-over wood from 4-5 tall trees cut down over the last 30 years plus brush that had grown wild. After the first day of clearing out, it was clear that the job was much bigger and taking longer than Jose expected. But to Jose's credit he did not walk away from the job. He came back and finished the job and he did it in a thorough and complete manner. I kept expecting him to take short cuts and rush through it, but he never did. At the end, he told me that he had lost quite a bit of money on the job, but he had given me a price and he would honor it. Given the excellent work and the fact that he honored his commitment to finish the job, I paid him extra even though he never pushed me or insisted on it. With respect to the 1 star review by Ira D below, I can see how Ira might be unhappy. Given the excellent work Jose does at such a fair price, he is very busy. It did sometimes take several days to get a response form Jose or I had to send a follow up message. You can look up J&J Landscape on other sites and see his reviews. On the one I checked (ends in "tack"), he had 22 reviews and a rating of 5 stars.
