Ariel service spilled drink on the dress
    Grace K.

Factual information is below: First, Ariel restaurant is located in Courtyard by Marriott. You walk inside the hotel lobby then make a right to enter the doors of the restaurant. We were all seated and enthusiastic to celebrate two birthdays on this prepared trip. We all ordered drinks and food, but things went gradually downhill when the drink server spilled alcoholic beverages on one of the birthday girls' dresses. She went to the restroom and spent almost an hour blowdrying the dress. The drinks were rather on the lighter side (BUT what if it was red wine?); nevertheless, it ruined the dress. Meanwhile, during this whole hour, the drink server did not inform anyone about the incident and our table server/others had no idea what happened. The other girls informed the server and manager about the incident. The manager came to our table 3 times. First, she came to assess the situation after our main server contacted her. Second, she came around to give us 1 free dessert, but we informed her that we never wanted dessert. Third, she came after she talked to the owner that "all they can do because it's more than enough" is to compensate for the $40 of bottled water (that we did not order) and 2 drinks that were spilled on the birthday girl's dress. The owner never came to our table, and he left the restaurant already when we wanted to talk to him. Another piece of information is that the owner of Ariel restaurant is the main chef, Ariel Rodriguez. Aside from all the mishaps aforementioned, the food quality was not the best because either the food was too bland or too salty. The risotto rice was not even fully cooked (in a French/Spanish restaurant). The main girl who ordered the risotto sent it back because Ariel does not have other vegan options, aside from bread. We also noticed that a few dishes did not have all the ingredients mentioned on the menu, so the server brought out 1 medium-sized plate of each ingredient that was missing in the dishes. Out of all, I do recommend the beef wellington, as it was the only one I would rate a 4/5 star for "good." They also made simple mistakes on the receipt and charged us for extra sides that should have been included in the dish. In other words, the menu specifically stated that certain dishes would include 1 or 2 side dishes. My conclusion: For a "$$$$" restaurant, go spend your cash and 3 hours with better hospitality elsewhere.

Outstanding food, service and ambience! The fish is flown in fresh daily if it is not caught locally. The portions are generous. The food is just really amazing and high-quality. I loved the cocktails. The sommelier, Jill, was absolutely wonderful and thoughtful with all her recommendations for food and drink. I just can't say enough good things about this fancy dining place in my hotel. Yes it is in the courtyard Marriott but don't let that stop you because this is an independent restaurant and it's phenomenal. I'm going to share pictures so check out the things I ate and drank. And if you go, celebrate a good occasion and have a good time. Please note that you can also sit at the bar and that's a separate little room and it's really nice and intimate for an after dinner drink or dessert.

We were disappointed in our dining experience at Ariel. We're happy to pay a premium price for good food & drinks, but Ariel just isn't good value for money. It's incredibly overpriced for average food. The ambiance & decor is also lacking. The vibe seemed to be tailored more toward older folks. My grandparents would've enjoyed it! Overall, we won't be back. I'd rather go to STK or 1919 in Condado. Pro: * The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. * The polenta with mushrooms side dish was tasty. Cons: * Overpriced * Lacking ambiance * The cushions on the chairs were super dirty. Kinda gross, actually.

Went as all the reviews were so great. Not sure if management changed, but the service was very OK. They were not very attentive, and slow. But as for the ambience, it was very very nice. The food was mixed as the wagu ribs my husband got was mediocre at best but my salmon and Mac and cheese was absolutely delicious. 4 star only for the salmon and ambience and also one waiter who tried to be as attentive as possible.

    Octopus carpaccio

Great food, pretty good atmosphere. I ordered the octopus carpaccio and scallops with risotto. They were the best I've ever had. The food is expensive but worth it. It's a fancy place so don't go there with beachwear unless you want dirty looks. This is a special occasion restaurant. Would go back.

They brought out some warm, tasty bread while we waited, and it totally set the tone for the meal. We started with the quiche and French onion soup--both were packed with flavor and so, so good. Inside there is a cool Paris bistrot vibe that transports you there. We came as walk-ins and they sat us right away. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection of French wines. We had a bottle of white Burgundy Chardonnay that paired perfectly with all our dishes. For appetizers we had the escargots, the tartare and the onion soup. All of them delicious, but my favorite was the onion soup. Tasty and not salty. As entree my husband had the Merou (grouper fillet) with balsamic reduction and grilled vegetables, very good. I was between the Flank steak or the entrecôte and the server pointed me in the right direction when he suggested the filet mignon with cracked pepper and cream sauce with gratin scallop potatoes. I don't exaggerate when I say that it's one of the best cuts of meat I've ever eaten in my life. Perfectly cooked, tender, juicy flavorful. They had several dessert options but since the previous suggestion was a hit I asked his advice one more time. He said the strawberry tart without hesitation. Another success. Overall 5 stars everything!

The food was some of the most delicious food ive ever tasted, especially the risotto (10/10). There was one dish that my girlfriend didnt like but they went immediately to get her something new. Im only giving a 4 star because the dessert i had did have something I was allergic to despite reassurance which cause swollen lips and throwing up outside. Im not sure if the dessert was pre-made but having the allergens directly on the menu may help. Otherwise I completely recommend trying here.

You have to try her soups... out of this world! We had a sweet corn chowder that was a wonderful exploration of the freshest vegetables in San Juan. Her french tapas have the Spanish and Puertorrican influence of chorizo, and she serves The Best croquetas and pastelillos (turnovers), absolutely tasty and very local. Her restaurant is clean and spacious, for now as she is a very well-kept secret. She is trained in NY, and her stature shows in her dishes and she is as sweet as her desserts, of which you have to try her rendition of apple pie (instead of apple she uses mango) and her guava crumble, mmmmm. She has a small list of wines that are priced cheaper than if you had bought them yourselves, yet really excellent wine taste, both whites and reds.
