So glad to see Arigato re-opened this past month! This was a reliable Japanese/Korean restaurant that I always enjoyed having a meal prior to dropping my daughters off for college - back in Sept, I was saddened to see it boarded up! On this happy return visit for the long holiday weekend, we were pleased to see a renovated interior as well as the same good quality food. We shared appetizers of gyoza (crispy, juicy, and tasty!) and seaweed salad with tuna sashimi (fresh and mild). I had the eel sushi assortment - and although it might have been too much, their eel was not overly sweet and wasn't cloying as I might've feared. The best was the eel avocado roll imo. One of my daughters had the chirashi bowl with a nice assortment of fish; my other daughter had a jigae which arrived bubbling hot to the table and had a good clean-tasting broth. Friendly service as well.

Food was delicious and the fish tasted very fresh. Service was quick and our drinks were refilled almost as soon as they were finished. Nice vibe and the tables aren't too close together so you feel spread out

Overall the taste and freshness of sushi is not bad. One thing is that the roll itself is very loose and not tight, my friend and I can barely pick a piece up using chopsticks and everything wrapped in the roll scattered around in the container...wish the chef to improve his skill.

My sister and I had a fairly pleasant time here. The customer service was definitely a great point to note. The servers that we had were super nice and accommodating to our needs. Our waters were filled without asking and both waitresses were very sweet. One was able to answer all of my questions on the menu - bonus points! Overall, I enjoyed the food but I honestly didn't think they were that "mind-blowing"! I found that my sushi rolls were consistently falling apart when I picked them off of the plate. Now I'm no sushi aficionado but I have definitely had enough sushi to know that it shouldn't do that. Did this negatively impact my experience here? No; I was able to live through that. The ingredients were still yummy. A second thing I want to comment on is that I felt like the vegetable to meat ratio on most of my rolls were severely unproportional. I got a a crunch roll and I didn't get as much meat on it as I would have liked. My sister's rainbow roll looked awesome though. We ordered a third plate to share: the Amherst. The meat was definitely lacking on here too - the Amherst is essentially a "huge" California roll with some small extra stuff. It had about 3-4 strings of crab meat in it. I'm sad but maybe I'm underestimating how big an actual slab of crab meat is supposed to look in these little guys. Other things: 1) There is a parking lot nearby, I'm sure it's metered like most of Downtown Amherst is. 2) I felt like the tables were a little sticky, 3) The bathrooms definitely need a little TLC, 4) Expect to pay on average $9 for 8-9 rolls.

Arigato has the absolute best sushi you can find in Western Mass. The menu has a great variety of Japanese and Korean food, along with a large selection of sushi options. I am a huge fan of eel, so I love to eat their "Rock and Roll" roll (an eel roll with fish roe on top) and their "Alligator" roll (a california roll with eel and avocado on top). They also have zirashi, which is my go-to when I'm craving a variety of fish. If you're not interested in sushi, you could always try one of their other dish options. Their bibimbap comes out sizzling with a delicious sauce I wish I had at home. I love their tteokbokki as well, which has just the right amount of rice cakes to sauce. The people on staff are also very friendly. Their servers are welcoming without being overbearing, and I never feel rushed to leave. The sushi chef is always kind to me when I come in. He is willing to substitute parts of items listed in their menu for other items, like a salmon roll instead of a tuna roll with their roll combo, or adding spicy mayo on top of an amherst roll. I think Arigato is a staple of Amherst, and I will definitely be ordering from them for years to come!

I ordered for take out from arigato sushi and it was pretty good. It's definitely not the best sushi I've ever had but it's pretty good for sushi around the Amherst area. I got the sushi platter and it come in 3 separate boxes. I was honestly expecting more food but the portion wasn't too bad. What I really liked was the jalapeño poppers!! Highly recommend!

The atmosphere is casual. And the prices are fair. I would recommend taking a look at the sushi appetizers if you're looking for a wider variety for a single person. I came to Arigato to hole up while I waited for a film to start at the cinema across the way. I was greeted by a warm hostess who walked me through the menu, then made me up a seat by the window. As I was just looking for a place to keep my head dry, and was not too famished, I sprung for a small 2 piece IKA Sashimi. It was neither superb nor excellent. I came to this conclusion after quizzing my server about the various types they had to offer. They were knowledgeable and spoke intelligently, comparing textures and palatal associations. I knew what I wanted before testing their knowledge, still their opinion and knowledgeability was important to me, so I persisted in my questioning. While the waitstaff was both friendly and well informed, their attention to needs for hydration was not up to snuff. Granted that I sucked my plastic cup of H2O down like a bubble netting humpback, I expected a bit higher attention to be paid to my needs. I came for a place to stay dry, and I got some decent sushi in tandem. I'll be coming back to put their flavors to a more involved process of testing in the near future.

Great sushi place in a college town! I've been here twice and both times the food has been solid. Although the eel roll was a bit too salty, everything else was fresh and delicious! My faves are the Crunch roll & the Amherst roll! If you're by Amherst, it's worth stopping by.

This place is so welcoming and absolutely delicious. I've made a habit out of coming here every weekend and it it reminds me of the great sushi I have back home in California. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant! Mr. Lee the chef is so passionate about his work eh at every bite is worth it!

Get this, it's AMAZING (Korean Fried Chicken)

I've been going here for the past two years and I have been baffled with these other Yelp reviews. I'm from Boston and have eaten at plenty of Asian restaurants. The service here is top notch. They're really friendly and know the ins of outs of things here. Arigato is perfectly located in the center of downtown Amherst. I really dig the decor and if you ask the servers for recommendations they can really set you up with whatever you're feeling that night. My advice is to utilize the service here. The price here is afforadable for sushi, and also if you come here for their lunch specials you'll be walking out real happy with the value you're getting here. My favorites: The salmon here is amazing, so I often get the Salmon Combo which comes with a soup and salad. If you aren't that hungry I recommend the Philadelphia Roll. It's alot of sushi for the price, and you get hefty cuts of sashimi placed on top. Box Combos If you want teriyaki chicken, shrimp, beef, of fish with a little bit of sushi, dumplings, and tempura vegetebles/shrimps then this is gonna be yo' thing for sure. If you're on a date I'd reccomend getting one of these and a fancy maki roll like the Fuji Roll. Korean Spicy Chicken I got this today, and it's something they're adding to the menu. It's like 9 bucks for a small (good for 2) and 16 for a large or something (3-4). I bought the small and a bowl of rice, and it was more than enough. I like it more than Wingz and appreciate the fact that it's made fresh unlike a lot of Chinese restaurants out here. In short this restaurant's been around for a long time. I know they got some new chefs and ideas to revamp this places reputation. Give this place a try, and look forward to the new additions they're making!!

I hate to say it, but this was possibly the worst sushi I've ever had. Everything tasted off, and one hamachi nigiri had a big bone in it.

I have visited many times in the last two, and I am proud to report how delicious the restaurant's foods are, how they have a variety of prices on the menu for any taste, and how their horchata is delicious. First of all, be mindful that there's limited accessibility into Bueno y Sano. There's steps leading up into a dual pull doorways, which is nice and quaint in historic Amherst. Inside, there are also steps leading from the entrance up to the clerks' cash register and kitchen along with salsas, a soda machine, a freezer, and the restrooms. There's still outside dining if you can visit with a friend who can help get your meal inside. The quality is absolutely worth it. Bueno y Sano has likely been around for so long because their meals are consistently bright, rich, and flavorful. Keeping cilantro fresh has been a challenge for me, since I surely could use it more. For Bueno y Sano, they must have some of the freshest vegetables in the valley to consistently cook and serve them tightly wrapped in durable but soft burrito tortillas. There are many other options on the menu if you'd prefer other flavors, too, as I recall an Asian-like burrito on the menu, as well as a beyond-beef grilled burrito. Yes, there's salads and more, I perhaps, just enjoy their burritos too much to choose another! I didn't mention the horchata again simply because it's another beloved flavor on their menu of drinks. One day, when I'm a traveled expert in horchata, I'm sure I'll come back to tell you why Bueno's *es tan bueno.*

We walked into a space that feels centered around quick, fresh meals where you can build something based on your preferences. The interior is bright and functional, with a relaxed, unpretentious energy that makes it a convenient spot for a filling meal rather than a traditional sit-down Mexican restaurant experience. The layout is practical and efficient, designed for counter ordering and quick turnover, and the steady flow of students and locals reflects its role as a neighborhood staple for a fast, hearty bite. The burritos are the main highlight. They are generously portioned and have a good mix of fillings, making them a satisfying option when you want something hearty. We ordered a few different combinations and found the chicken and steak options well seasoned, with the fillings layered evenly so each bite had a good balance of protein, rice, beans, and sauces. The different combinations allow for a lot of variety, and options like vegetarian fillings and different salsas make it easy to customize. The quesadillas also stood out as a strong choice, especially because the cheese and fillings work well together, with the tortilla getting a nice crispness on the griddle that added texture to the melted filling. The menu has a wide range of options, including vegetarian and other alternative choices, giving the restaurant more flexibility compared to places that only focus on a few standard items. Some dishes can feel like they need extra seasoning or sauce depending on what you order, but the ability to customize helps balance that, with the salsa bar offering a range of heat levels and flavors to dial in the meal to your preference. The service and atmosphere are simple and casual. The space has a relaxed feel that works well for students, quick lunches, or an easy meal in the area, and the ordering process is straightforward with the restaurant focusing more on speed and convenience than a full dining experience. The staff handle the steady flow efficiently, and the food comes out without much delay. Bueno Y Sano is a solid option for burritos and customizable Mexican-inspired food. The portion sizes, variety of choices, and relaxed atmosphere make it a reliable spot when you want a filling meal, offering a quick, satisfying option that works well for a casual lunch or a simple dinner without the formality of a traditional restaurant.

Anything we needed anything, they were happy to help. The chef was also very nice but I didn't ask his name. We ordered the Ginger Tea, Seaweed Salad + Gyoza (vegetable dumplings) to start, along with a small rice. The ginger tea is made with fresh ginger and is slightly sweet, the seaweed salad was authentic. The Gyoza were phenomenal; I asked Peter his advice on fried or grilled and he recommended fried. For the main course, we ordered the Fantastic Roll and the Koala Roll which were heavy hitters. 100% recommended. They have sake and are BYOB, big plus! We came back a second time, and I ordered the same thing: veggie gyoza and Fantastic Roll. My friends daughter loved the veggie dumplings just as much as I did. My friend and her daughter shared the sushi meal, and it came with sashimi that they loved. We also tried their chicken teriyaki appetizer and the meal. The appetizer comes with spicy mayo sauce which came on kebab sticks, and were too spicy for the kids but I thought they were perfect. The meal did not have spicy mayo and was sliced on a steaming platter. It was delicious as well, but I personally preferred the appetizer style. Eric and Peter were amazing servers the second time. I'm more than happy to support this local restaurant anytime I'm in town. Everything was extremely fresh, authentic, and larger portions than most places for an amazing price point. This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants from now on. You definitely don't want to miss this place.

Turns out, that was a very apt description. We arrived and got seated at a table with a very nice curved window view. I can imagine being here on a rainy or snowy day and getting to be surrounded by the weather while not having to get wet. The service was friendly, if mostly absent, and fast. This place mostly loses stars on the food. We had: wonton soup, miso soup, scallion pancakes, crab rangoons, happy family, tangerine chicken, and asparagus and snap peas with shrimp. The wonton soup seemed to be a beef broth soup, interesting change up from any wonton soup I've had before, a little salty and good wontons. The miso soup was also a good miso. The crab rangoons were too sweet and the wrapper too thick, thus making it chewy, but at least you could tell there was something in there beyond just cream cheese. The hunt for good crab rangoons continues. The scallion pancakes were very thick, but at least not greasy. The sauce was punchy and pleasant. The asparagus and snap peas with shrimp was positioned as having a light flavor, and that was very accurate. Almost like they were steamed and then served, but you could see a sauce coating them. The happy family was coated in a brown sauce that didn't carry much flavor either, but nothing was wrong either. The tangerine chicken was listed as one spicy out of three, and I'm happy to report they understand spicy rating. While the broccoli was chopped a tad large, the chicken was cooked very well, and you got just some spice on the back end with sweet on the front. Overall, nothing here was bad, but it also came across and middling. If you asked me to write this review a couple days from now I feel I'd have trouble remembering anything about this place except the window seat.
