Not your typical carry out! Very clean and well maintained. The owners have kept this space up for a long time and you can tell by the customer traffic it is a loved place to get food! When we walked in it was only us and within minutes there were 3 more people following behind to order. The service was very good. We were greeted at the door and even provided suggestions on what to get. The prices are very reasonable and average $10-13 per person. We ordered the cheesesteak combo, shrimp cheesesteak combo and 6 chicken wings. Each combo came with fries and a canned soda. We were able to request salt/pepper/ketchup & hotsauce on our order. This is a normal request in Baltimore and it was nice to find a carry out in Columbia that offers the same goodness that the City offers. The food was perfect! The cheesesteak is packed with flavor with fresh toppings and bread! The fries were fried to perfection and still crispy by the time we got home! This place has been bookmarked for some time and I finally made it. I have been looking forward to trying the fried chicken that I saw in the pictures. The person that greeted me was friendly and helpful with offering menu suggestions. The food is made to order so your food is always hot. I ordered wings with a side of Mambo sauce. The wings are not whole wings, instead the wing are cut in half. I didn't like the wings because they had zero taste and I didn't care for their mambo sauce. We came here yesterday for dinner and definitely glad we did because we love supporting small local businesses in the area. When you come across this restaurant, you wouldn't know it was one..its next to a cleaners and convenience store at the corner of the building. Inside was very small and simple We ordered a bulgogi cheesesteak, regular cheesesteak and 15 wings with mombo sauce and a couple cakes. The bulgogi cheesesteak was delicious, taste just like the poor mans bulgogi I used to make with ground beef. The only problem I had with it was the fact that it was falling out the bread...to many openings for ground beef. The regular cheesesteak was good too, could have used a little more meat, as an eighth of the sandwich was practically bare. It tasted good with the mombo sauce we had leftover from the wings. I could see how they go together well. The wings were good, fried crispy...could have been a little less crispy but was good all the same. I tried the cheesesteak and if you have ever been to Philadelphia to dine at Jenos or Pats, DO NOT EAT THIS CHEESESTEAK!!! The best way to describe this sandwich is mysteriously not good. From the bun to the meat and all additional ingredients this was a huge disappointment. There was not enough meat to take away from the poor taste of the hot dog style bun it was on. There might be other food at this place that is worthy of your hard earned money but I'm not going to venture back to try any of it. Got a two large subs, a kids pizza like the frozen stuff (literally), and six wingettes with fries turned out to be $60 but I thought the subs should be a nice size plus I'm supporting local business. Never knew Columbia had a late night eats spot apart of Sonic in Ellicott City, I think just about any of the food here is pretty solid (wings, subs, pizza, fried foods galore) yet standard. Customer service was decent and the prices are awesome. read more

I live in California and I cannot find a place like this anywhere I love mombo sauce! They make the wings fresh and although there is no place to sit down and eat, I highly recommend you eat this while it's hot, given that the wings are crispy and have the perfect amount of texture under the mombo sauce. Sure it's hot but that's because it's made to order and that's what makes this great. I usually stay in DC or NoVA but when I'm craving the stuff I'll make the drive even if it's an hour. Oh Simmies! How I love you. So many great memories here. This place is tucked away near the community college in an unsuspecting strip mall. Depending on the time of day parking can be hard to come by. Simmie's is what it is called by the locals. I am not actually sure of what it is really called.... Something that starts with an A. Anyway it's a little take away place where you can get cheesesteak, fries, chicken ect. All smothered in mumbo sauce which is the real reason I frequent this establishment. Plus it is one of the only places in the area open past 10pm! I like the cheesesteak, although I do wish they had bigger sizes. You can get your assortment of usual condiments nothing overly exciting there. You do have to buy fries separately from your wings or cheese steak which sucks. Awful place. Went their for late hour diner because it was the only place open. We got cheesesteak and wings. Wings were fried precooked KFC wings dipped in bbq sauce. Let me tell you about Simmies not just the restaurant but the owner...he came up with Simmies in 1989. Prior before that he was a cook so it was all he knew. Simmie is now in his early 60s and when asked when he will stop working he said he will stop when he dies! He loves Simmies and how much it has contributed to Columbia...all of the people he has met. Many days he works from open to close. He has a family, wife and kids. Ate a cheese steak from Simmie's ~45 minutes ago. I do not recommend it. The guy at the corner is always the same guy but it seems like there's always a different cook. This is the 3rd time I've given this place a chance over the 'WaWa' next door in the past 2 months and each time has turned out to be a mistake. Time 1: their wings were meh; no hot sauce to speak of and they gave a chintzy amount of too-runny blue cheese to eat 6 wings with. I asked for more: each little blue cheese thingie was more than a dollar more, and it was not blue cheese. They gave me a runny, fake artificial blue cheese substitute of some kind . Time 2: kimchi stirfry. This was actually good, if salty and with too much rice, but it was overpriced for what I got and they definitely used (too much) soy sauce. I couldn't taste a fish sauce at all. If it was in there the soy sauce totally overpowered it. Time 3 (tonight): I ask for a Mombo Cheesesteak, 'hold the mombo sauce'. I ask for it Philly-style instead, and I ask for onions. My cheesesteak (a dollar per inch of cheesesteak) comes with not alot of cheese in it; they put cheese over 'the border of' the open face of the sandwich, which means there is no cheese in the actual interior. Perhaps they did that to try and disguise the lack of onions: 3 tiny little flecks of onion mixed into the beef. It looked to be about 1/2 of a 1/2 of a 1/2 teaspoon of onions. A place with "Cheese Steaks" in its name should know how do to a prototypical Philly. They don't. With the Korean 'specials' added to the menu only in the past 2/3 months or so, they are trying new things, but the American food there is overpriced. You shouldn't expect peppers at a place like this when you ask for a cheesesteak Philly style (or maybe you should, since they do have "Cheesesteaks" in their restaurant name) but I specifically did ask for onions, and when I looked at the change they gave me I discovered they even charged me about 40 cents extra for onions. I was the only customer there and it's quiet enough that the counter-man can definitely hear what you say, and he definitely charged more than the regular sandwich cost, so there's no excuse for this. In conclusion, if you eat late at night like I do because you work late and you require actual nutrition at a fair price, go next door to the 24-hour 'WaWa' sandwich counter (it's not a WaWa anymore but it used to be). This place is handicapped accessible. read more
