Seems like there were a good amount of online/phone orders coming through. Wings were solid and the pizzas were filling. We came hungry so 3 pizzas satisfied 5 of us, with some leftover slices to take home. Staff were very nice and accommodating, especially with bringing a birthday cake out and preparing the table after our meal! Came here on a Tuesday evening to perform at their comedy open mic that's hosted by Sandy Bernstein & Walter (highly recommend checking it out if you're into watching standup!) got a personal pizza with their signature sauce, it was delicious, very filling if you're petite with a decent appetite- couldn't finish the last slice. Bartender didn't know how to make a henny sidecar and my first drink came in a regular glass with ice- had to send it back after I was little black things floating around in it and it was also made incorrectly D: but, I give him credit for trying and of course he gladly remade it and 2nd time around it tasted good. Also a plus that they even carried henny. It took a while to get service maybe due to the mic going on. Bar is in a separate room. Ambience is a small pizza shop, homey, good for a casual bite. BLUF: Excellent pizza but service was a miss so perhaps best for take out. My husband and I dined in at HomeSlyce while running errands in the area on a Saturday. We were the only ones dining in but there was a steady stream of people coming to get carryout - perhaps that was a sign. Being it was our first time to HomeSlyce, we had to study the menu. With our heads in the menu (a tablet) the server walked over and asked us, "ready to order?" To which I replied, "No, it's our first time here so we're trying to navigate the menu." He just nodded and walked away which seemed so strange to me. No offer to answer questions, make suggestions, walk through the menu, etc. Anyway, we finally figured out what we wanted and we both placed orders for lunch specials. It is really nice that HomeSlyce offers lunch specials seven days a week whereas many places exclude the weekends. Kudos to HomeSlyce for that. My husband ordered the Margherita pizza and I had the Philly Steak and Cheese. Both were 8" personal pizzas and both were good but the Philly was the clear winner in my book. We also both got sodas which are $3 and come with one refill. To claim our refill, we had to go up to the bar and ask for it. So again, not really a place that is excelling at service so next time I think I will follow suit with the many other patrons and get my pies to go. read more

Came here at 9:10. It was completely dead. Got two pizzas. Looked amazing when they came out. Sadly, me and my gf hated them. Why? The bottom crust is really not crispy. The pizza also sits on top of a 12x12 sheet of parchment plastic. The grease from the pizza just soaks into the bottom crust. Also, didn't realize this place is "boat style" pizza. Dough then sauce then toppings then cheese. I wouldn't recommend anything more than one topping. It all just slides out and you're left with flimsy soggy bottom crust. Our server was 7/10. A great spot to get great pizza even though it's a little pricey. I come to this place at least once a quarter as it has a variety of pizza flavors that you can't really find anywhere else. The pizza is made fresh and it always comes out hot. They also have a variety of beers as they are more of a pizza and bar spot. The wings are pretty good too. The prices are a bit high but if you can make it for their specials that makes things more reasonable. We came this time on a Friday night and it was not that busy. Only two other families were in the restaurant. However, they had a ton of takeout orders. I predict there was at least one person coming to pick up an order every 15 minutes we were there eating our dinner. They also have a few TVs hanging up around so I imagine when local sports teams are playing things may be more crowded. Glad to see they're still around and holding on strong!!! Since my last review, the Foggy Bottom location closed. So this is my most convenient location to access! If there isn't traffic, I can get there in about 25 minutes, so it's not bad! Some friends and I most recently swung by after axe throwing nearby. It was about an hour before they closed. We were a party of 9 or 10, and they happily put together some high tables near the bar for us. Maybe it's because I've only sat at the bar in the past, but now you can either order with the server or scan the QR code that way. And the menus were these fancy tablets that I initially thought we could order through! They have so many pizzas now I forgot which one I got, but it was one I haven't had yet. I ordered a personal one through the server and I got garlic knots to go through the QR code. The staff were all very polite and everyone got taken care of. The pizza was great, and so were those garlic knots! I still cringe at how much cheaper they are in NY though, LOL! Based off of the name, I thought this was a single slice of pizza place. I ended up ordering the lunch special which was a premium personal pizza for under $10. The service was fairly quick and the host brought out some water while we waited. The pizza was good. I ordered the 4 cheese garlic but took off the goat cheese. Not sure who would want goat cheese on a pizza. If I could I would also omit the garlic. I am just not a fan of garlic overpowering my food. The pizza was hot and had a nice cheese pull. read more

We used to go to the Homeslyce in DC until it closed. We decided to try this location. This service was mid, he did warm up eventually, but it seemed as though we were a bother, I had to order my drink three times due to the glasses being dirty. On the positive side, the pizza was really good, definitely better than the pizza at the old DC location. read more

HomeSlyce was close to our hotel so we stopped in for a bite. You can order via a QR code but it was not working. So we had to order via a live server who was unenthusiastic about helping us. We ordered one sixteen inch pizza to share and waited a while until it was ready. The pizza here was not my jam. It tasted like Pizza Hut pan pizza (but much more expensive!) I hosted an afternoon baby shower last month. Although the party room is permanently closed, we were able to book the entire dining room. We were able to put up decorations and direct the arrangement of the tables. We wanted it to be very casual, with the ability of the guests to get up and easily mingle, so we chose buffet style. We had a slide show, and there were TVs in the room in which we were able to easily stream the show. We chose a tv which was not visible from the bar, because we did not strangers to be able to view our personal photos. We were able to choose exactly what we wanted to serve rather than being restricted by a specific menu. We had four different pizzas, two salads, two desserts. My only complaint, which turned out to be a nonissue, was that the communication could have been better. Up until the day of the shower, I worried that we would not have enough room or that we were not getting the items desired. But it's a restaurant, so they were used to last minute decisions. We tweaked the menu when we got there. I worried for nothing. I was planning this party from SC, so I could not just drop in to speak with someone. However, Zulfiye FaceTimed with me so I could see the setup. We were all happy with the results. We were all very happy. read more

We visited two weeks in a row for lunch with mixed results, and it is unlikely that we will be back. Instead of paper menus, they give you a tablet, and the number of clicks it takes to navigate makes comparing items difficult. We also didn't like the rag-like napkins, nor the red solo-cups they serve their drinks in. "Ambiance" is not a major factor for us, but the mix of rag napkins, solo cups, and electronic tablets is not cohesive. On our first visit, the tablet gave mis-information about the lunch pizza special, saying that it was served with a side salad. (Indeed, on the second week, the mention of a salad had been removed.) The server made a generous adjustment to the bill. On that visit, there were just a few parties in the restaurant, and the server was friendly and attentive. On our second visit, we were the ONLY PATRONS but the service was poor. After the the food was dropped off, the server never checked on us until I had to approach him to pay the bill. He and another worker spent our entire visit on their phones and chatting with each other. Obviously, there were no soda refills, and when I asked for the check, the server had nothing to say: No "How was your meal?" or anything like that. Instead, he stood there with the electronic credit card reader that prompted us for an 18%/20%/25% tip. It was awkward with him looking at us as I forced a lesser-amount tip. The food is mixed. Both times, my Coke was a failure. It tasted nothing like Coke, probably because of the ice scooped from behind the bar; possibly because it's coming out of a soda gun at the bar. The pizza is good even if nothing stood out about the cheese and the sauce. It's difficult to mess up pizza, but any real enjoyment is going to come from the toppings. Note that a (non-lunch special) 16-inch pizza STARTS at $19.73 with toppings ranging from $2.50 to $3.60 each. I placed an Uber Eats order from this location because I wanted to try a new pizza place. I ordered the four cheese calzone and a medium falafel pizza. I'll tell you what, pizza has to be REALLY good if I'm paying close to $20 for one. Unfortunately, HomeSlyce just doesn't live up to my expectations. First off, the calzone is very heavy on the goat cheese. I read on the menu what cheeses were included but every bite was that strong overpowering taste of goat cheese. If you aren't a goat cheese fan, just know it's like blue cheese and more of an acquired taste. The side dipping sauce of marinara was minuscule at best. Luckily I keep a personal stash in my fridge. The falafel pizza comes with a yum sauce side which was notably absent from my order. When I called the restaurant they were kind enough to offer to resend a pizza with the sauce (I ordered a wheat crust and got regular). I told them I can wait and just grab it on my own another day but they weren't confident on how that would work so for that +1 on the customer service. Everything about the pizza tasted like it didn't belong. lt felt a mixture of toppings with very little thought and just fell flat for me. Had a craving for pizza and decided to try our neighborhood pizza place . They have happy hour ( $2 off appetizers) & the Slyce meatballs sounded interesting- lamb & beef meatballs in a light tomato sauce , sprinkled with some feta & served with some bread. The meatballs were a bit dry but had good flavor. They have a great deal going everyday- 16" any style pizza & a bottle of Coppola wine for $25 ! So we ordered the Homeslyce Classic which has goat & mozzarella cheeses , kalamata olives, bell peppers , soujuk ( middle eastern sausage) and walnuts. Yes, walnuts but only a smattering, hardly even noticed it. The thin wood fired crust definitely carried all the flavors well .This pizza is quite tasty! Okay I really don't like writing bad reviews but I'm not sure what's going on at this Columbia location. As some one who's been to most of the homeslyce locations, this is the only one that's ever had discrepancy. I've ordered this same thing (strongman meat slyce) to go 3 times now. And every time, the quality of the pizza was just straight up bad. The crust was thin and floppy, the ratios were all off, and the toppings looked tossed together. I was so upset that I went to the Clarksville location and ordered the same thing just to see if it was the same. Second time this happened I asked them to take it back and make me a new one, but they insisted I pay for a new pizza, which I did, I just wanted my pizza correct. I'm not sure if this is a carry out specific thing, or if it was because it may have been crowded...but I won't be ordering carry out from this location again. On a positive note the service is always great and everyone is very nice (for the most part), even in pandemic conditions (because I've been coming here for years). [Coronavirus review] Having enjoyed their DC location well enough, I thought to get takeout from a more suburban Homeslyce during our lockdown. They were doing good takeout business. Toppings were $1 on Tuesday, so I ordered a bunch, particularly because part of the appeal of this chain is their variety of choices. However, when I first dropped in, I received a pizza that somehow had sausage on it, which being a lifelong vegetarian was definitely not what I ordered. Thankfully I'd only made it out to the parking lot before checking. Apparently what happened is that someone misread the word "sesame"; I'd ordered that as a topping. They made me a new pizza quickly enough. Mistakes happen, so I wasn't very mad, though I couldn't tell where the sesame was on the new one; I was expecting a visible layer of sesame seeds either over or under the cheese but I don't think there were any. I didn't want to push the issue any further while wearing a mask and trying to minimize interactions. Maybe someone can clarify what sesame on pizza is supposed to be? It sounded interesting. Anyway, the real take-home message is that the regular round pizza and the Turkish-looking homeslyce pizza that I got were good but not great. Without any special toppings like nuts or okra or sesame seeds or the special walnut-based pizza sauce I tried at the other location, it was pretty generic thin-crust pizza that didn't taste better or worse than any standard takeout place. I just wasn't that impressed with the sauce; too much salt, not enough real flavor. I'm also glad I got the special on toppings, because at full price they're quite a lot, and that's where all the action is. So even though the snafu with my order was resolved satisfactorily and I'm not docking them any further for that, my food was pretty average. read more

The pizza was bland and overly oily. We ordered the classic pizza which included goat cheese, walnuts, egg plant, red bell pepper and onion with a large amount of olive oil. The walnuts had a charcoal flavor which was unappealing and the crunchy texture was off putting. The red bell pepper was nicely paired with the onions both of which were Caramelized. The mushy eggplant and gobs of goat cheese were soaked in oil and made me nauseous. If the dough or crust of the pizza was decent I could have at least salvaged part of this pizza but it was tough around the edges and tasteless. Delicious pizza with a thin crust, piled with plenty of toppings, make this a pizza place worth visiting. Large clean interior, with a few arcade games set up around the perimeter. Our server was extremely friendly, and came right over to get a drink order. I tried one of the specialty drinks, a cotton candy flavored soda, but it needed more cotton candy syrup. The pizza came out pretty quickly, and was absolutely perfect. We shared a large pepperoni and a small meatball. The pepperoni was piled high with small pepperonis. Both pizzas were very tasty. This place is very good, although we found their dining room chairs to be extremely uncomfortable. We'll probably only get their pizza to-go from now on. read more

OK guys, I've been holding out on you...this has been my favorite pizza place for the last two years. I didn't want to share it with you...or anybody. It was a dirty little secret that I could always count on for pleasure. Alas, the time has come to share it with the world. They deserve better, and honestly...I do too. The burden has become too much to bear :D So, now that we've gotten that out of the way...come over and enjoy their pizza (which they call Slyces), fabulous drinks, and DELICIOUS salads with basil vinaigrette. They have lots of dressing options, that just happens to be my favorite :P Think freshly made pizzas with your choice of crust (whole wheat, gluten-free (+$2), or regular), all your standard meat options along with a few gourmet ones (like soujouk, which is beef pepperoni), and an array of cheese to choose from (hello, goat). Still there? OK, perfect. Let's move on to appetizers. Have you ever tried nachos with chips made from chickpeas? Cheese curds with marinara sauce? Pickle fries? Pizza sauce that's made with spicy herbs, walnuts, and oil? Meatballs made with a combination of lamb&beef? No? Well it's here if you want to. Yes? Again...here if you want to :D Don't worry, if you're a purist they'll cater to you too. The Margherita pizza is amazing! Come by on a Wednesday when it's 1/2 price wine bottles, or Monday when the premium Slyces are 1/2 off. Maybe Thursday sounds good, when all the sandwiches (except salmon) are $5.55.
