Ordered 5 wings, got 4.5 already ate one.
    Alan W.

Ordered 5 wings got 4.5, already ate one. Wings way too salty. $22 for 5 little ass wings. The only saving grace was the fried fish was delicious. Skip the chicken and get the fish. May return for the fish only, service is extremely slow, best to call in your order. The fish is worthy of 4 stars, the chicken gets 0 stars so had to balance it out with 2 stars.

Really good chicken, Good coleslaw, good greens and phenomenal catfish. Great service Nice people, clean and easy. Takes a few minutes to get your food because they cook it fresh for you and it is worth it. The only reason I won't be back is because I don't live near here, I'm a little jealous of folks that do!

I was starving and in dire need of fried chicken when this establishment came across my radar. Was the food good? Yes, it was. The fried chicken tasty, the sweet tea mildly lemony, and the fries the closest thing to chunky English chips I've come across, neither under nor over-seasoned. What I hadn't realized was that there was a pillowy biscuit in the box with my chicken. And it was the finest biscuit I've ever received from a fried chicken joint. See, I thought it was a run of the mill dinner roll at first, it was that tall. But then it was also heavy but fluffy. I inhaled that thing as I drove down 95. Was the service slow? Maybe a touch, but the food was handed to me piping hot and overflowing their respective containers. And folks, these people were the nicest people! I nearly ordered a full priced dinner before the clerk informed me there was a special that cost much less. She asked if I was particular about which pieces I wanted, and I told her to throw in whatever pieces they needed to unload. They could have just given me 2 wings and I'd have been happy - that's how dire my fried chicken need was -but they have me the GOOD chicken! And then, they brought out the cakes. The proprietor brought out a fully frosted chocolate cake as well as a lemon cake, and answered all my curious questions about them: did you make these (yes), what kind, how often, etc. I bought 2 slices that again overflowed their containers, and then promptly forgot them when I left. I was in my car checking out my goods when one of the employees was knocking at my door to reunite us. I love small locally owned places, and I'm so happy I stopped here for lunch.

    4 piece chicken special $10.59

Dc boy loved this Columbia chicken! I wanted to give them 5 stars so bad, but I couldn't and I'll tell you why. So, when you walk in, it looks like it's a an old carry out & smells a little weird. It comes off a little as a hole in the wall spot, but as I've learned they are gems! They have a kiosk you can order from or with cashier. Everybody was welcoming and one person help me place my order. It took about 20/25 min. The chicken was warm but didn't seem hot like it was just coming out of the dryer, but the fries were. Fries are homemade- style, so good and good size and they were hot out of the oil! Chicken is so flavorful and crispy. But wasn't hot as the fries were. For this price it's no way this places isn't packed out. I got a 4 piece special which comes with one side and biscuit. Biscuit was decent, but I don't eat it. With a little TLC (handing that smell, better lighting, and better menu placement), this place is easily a 5. Also, making sure chicken is piping hot. All men working and they were good with the service which I didn't expect initially. I wish this spot was closer, will be back next time if I'm in the area, or anytime I feel like making the drive from DC.

    Restaurant week :)
    MaryLou B.

I have missed this venue since I moved to Texas, so I am so excited to be back! And I did not even remember that it was Restaurant Week! Shoutout to our local community heroes here in Columbia! Hunter was the front man and greeted me with a warm, personable, and friendly welcome. This is a clean and well lit venue. I love the menu! Comfort food to the max! Pressure Fried Chicken, collard greens, Mac and cheese, dinner rolls, corn bread, french fries, teas, lemonades, and more ! They even have chicken sandwiches! Regular and spicy! So you know that I had to order a spicy chicken sandwich for home and I dined in with the 2 piece special combo! Chicken on the bone is always the best for me! Flavor and texture is my main focus! And this venue is on point!!! Crunch-tastic !!! Cheese pull! This was delicious! Yummm ! Hit the spot!!

Tucked away in Owen Brown shopping center, directly across from the entrance of Lake Elkhorn Park, is a soul food paradise. I have to commend Big Schlim, for sharing about the National Cannibas Festival special at this restaurant. I was greeted with love by the cashier and a smile. I saw how dark the sweet tea was in the beverage dispenser and let me tell you I know the tea has to be good! I ordered the 420 Sweet Chili Party Wing Special (w/fries) and the 4 Piece Chicken lunch special. You can get a 2 piece or 4 piece lunch. Both come with a side and biscuit. The wing special with the fries and the 4 piece were delicious. The Collard greens though full of flavor were too sweet for me. Customer service and the parking was amazing. Between the made to order quality food and the 2019 food prices this place is a winner. Treat yourself!

We had take out with friends, the menu consisted of fried chicken, fried fish, fried shrimp, greens, candied yams, and French fries. The chicken was the star of the show. Well seasoned, crispy, and filling. I am not a big yam fan, but these yams had an okay flavor. What threw things off was that the syrup had a thickness of apple pie out of the can. The greens also had an interesting taste. Not bad just interesting. The French fries were cold by the time I got to them so I can t rate those, but they seemed to be real potatoes cut into fries with some sort of breading. The shrimp was a no go for me, they looked really good, but I too am not a fried shrimp person. The fish was bland to me and I needed some hot sauce. All in all the food was decent and worth another visit to try some other menu items. If nothing else enough to pick up some chicken.

Please note: This restaurant is under new management. I finally had a chance to try this restaurant. One thing I can say is the owner is an absolute pleasure. Her service is unmatched. Her son was pleasant as well. However the food needs some work and she's willing to make changes and appreciate all feedback. The fried chicken was pretty good, seasoned well nice batter. My daughter loved her wings. -The shrimp basket was lacking seasoning on the batter. I dislike the oil aftertaste. The dipping sauce was good -The chicken biscuit the tenders were cut too thick. Due to the thickness, the chicken was a bit undercooked. The biscuit itself was very good. -collard greens were ok but lacking flavor I will definitely visit again especially because the restaurant is under new management and I'm sure overtime things will get better.

Hot N' Spicy Chick N' Sandwich Combo

I have eaten at this place several times while visiting my nearby office. Food is 5 stars. I have gotten he spicy fried chicken sandwich each time. The sandwich is a freshly breaded fried chicken breast on a brioche roll dipped in a spicy but sweet sauce and served with a spicy mayo sauce. It is awesome. The fries are breaded fries which are not my thing however they do a great job with them making them crispy but soft and tender inside. They do lose a star for speed as they take a long time to get the food. It won't prevent me from visiting again but just planning for the time. Dining area is ok but nothing special. The chicken is the special. Staff is very friendly.

Classic Pressure Fried Chicken Dinner - 3pc, with Collard Greens and Potato Salad
    John W.

Chick N' Friends was added to our Foodsby delivery options a couple of weeks ago & promptly sold out. I made sure to order last week for this week, so I wouldn't miss out again :) I ordered the 3-piece chicken dinner, which comes with a selection of two sides. At $12.99, it's a no-brainer to spend the extra $1.00 over the 2-piece dinner. You can select each piece separately, so I ordered three thighs, because they're the most flavorful part of the chicken. I picked collard greens and potato salad for my sides. The chicken was very good - crispy crust & skin, juicy chicken, and also a decent size. The flavor reminded me of authentic southern fried chicken. I was a bit disappointed with the collard greens though. They were in plenty of liquor, but didn't have much in the way of additional flavor; they tasted like under salted greens and not much else. I didn't find any meat in it either. Potato salad was pretty good, but didn't stand out over any other potato salads I've had. Overall, the chicken is the star of this meal, and I highly recommend it. Try some other sides too, which are hopefully more flavorful.

I decided earlier in the day, I would order food for lunch and remembered Chick N Friends. I knew from advice to order early because food sometimes took a minute. To me that just means you make it fresh and I appreciate that. So I ordered my food about 30 minutes before my lunch break and when I arrived to pick it up the gentleman was packing it up. Perfect timing. When I open the container the smell of fresh fried Chicken and waffles drifted up my nose and I was so giddy. First bite of chicken was so satisfying. As I continue to eat I noticed it wasn't fried hard and a little messy but still okay. I tried a piece of waffle and the crispy and softness was the perfect combination for indulgence. As I continued to eat, I noticed I had a processed after taste in my mouth. I dipped a piece of waffle in the syrup they provided and it helped somewhat. However, by the time I was halfway finished that processed taste was just taking over everything. The next time, I definitely think I will ask them to fry my chicken hard and I'm not too sure what to do about the waffle. The first bite I could taste the buttermilk and was pleased but I couldn't finish eating it due to the process taste. I tried to determine if it was coming from the chicken or the waffle and it seemed like it was coming from the coating of the chicken. I guess whatever they use to coat the chicken with is packaged and probably has some preservatives in it. That is definitely a way to make sure the chicken always taste the same but now fresh chicken, taste processed.

I personally don't like it when restaurants will serve their own take on chicken & waffles and it ends up missing the essence of the dish. That essence of what I look for in the dish is the foundation of the food at T&J Waffles. The chicken is crispy and juicy with great sauce options to go with the meal. The waffles are light, airy, and sweet (but not overly sweet). I tend to frequent T&J Waffles whenever they come as the food truck, so YMMV if you eat at the brick & mortar location. That being said, I don't feel like there's an inherent loss of quality by eating at the food truck. My recommendation is to eat the food as soon as possible. Chicken and waffles to me has a very short shelf-life where the crispiness fades away shortly after. I think the best way to enjoy is to dig pretty much right away. Definitely check out the spot if you enjoy chicken and waffles! Side note: they have other options too that look delicious, but I can't not order the chicken & waffles when I go.

I opened up my Yelp app to see if I had bookmarked anything nearby and T&J's Waffles was the first spot that popped up. I didn't know it was walk up location. I was all prepared to sit at a table and have breakfast, but I was already there and I wasn't leaving without food. My dad and I both ordered the classic breakfast platter. It came with two waffles, probably three eggs (we added cheese so that was extra), 4 slices of bacon, and 2 sausage links, and hash brown. The waffles were such a cute shape and they were delicious. I can't confirm this, but I imagine it's their own special batter. They were very generous with the scrambled eggs and I didn't even have to add salt & pepper. I like that there were two meat options. I just wish my bacon wasn't all stuck together to form one piece. Also, the bacon could've been cooked a little more. It was a little fatty and I like a little more crisp. The star of the show was the hash brown. It definitely seemed like it was homemade. This may have been my first time having a homemade hash brown. I'm not sure what they did to it, but here's my guess. It looks shredded potatoes, mixed with green onion, and maybe some cheese, that was packed like a patty & shallow fried. My goodness, I should've ordered some hashbrowns to go so I could eat them for the rest of the week. The platter was so good, I didn't even mind having to eat it in my car. Lol. It was filling & $16 well spent.

Tip: pack your patience…read more I've been wanting to try Cafe Columbia since I heard they have the option to add ice cream to the crepe. Ice cream with crepes are one of my favorite type of crepes, and that's exactly what I ordered; a crepe with ice cream. I walked in and the cafe was bustling with people enjoying their meal, and the workers preparing meals. It was a full house, however, I was able to grab a table for two. French Toast Crepe: this simple yet tasty crepe fit the bill. It had cinnamon flavor with whipped cream and I opted for a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It didn't come with fruit which I will add next time (yes, there will be a next time). Belgium Waffle: another simple item yet the batter was better than I expected. It didn't come with toppings. It came with a lite dusting of powdered sugar and came with room temperature butter. Chai Latte: this was good on the first sip. It seemed watered down and I would have preferred more flavor. Then again, I'm not a regular drinker of chai latte, and my daughter seemed to enjoy it. So don't count this out. When we ordered the staff gave us a disclaimer the crepe would take about 25 minutes. I didn't mind at the time. It took longer than that; however, I could see the workers constantly working on preparing meals so it didn't bother me. We got the waffle about 25 minutes later so we decided to share both the waffle and crepe. The crepe came out about 20 minutes later. The cafe has a well thought out layout. It has tables on each side, a reading area, and an area with complimentary water next to the coffee/tea station. The little station has water, cups, sugar, napkins and creamer (not pictured because it was packed and constantly occupied). On the other side you'll find more tables, the restrooms, and an ostracized nook that had someone in there occupying the chairs for what seemed like quiet time. Customer service is good. Parking is free in a huge parking lot for the business building. The cafe is located at the front of a shared business building. The menu has a variety of waffles with and without fruit options; crepes made either savory or sweet; and coffee drink options. There is an ice cream bar for scoops of ice cream or milkshakes; and lastly some fruit cups. Overall, I enjoyed the cafe and plan to add it to my list of favorites.

It's pre-sweetened so no need to add extra vanilla syrup or anything. This does not taste like a traditional matcha, which in my opinion tastes like dirt. This is a sweeter, dessert like matcha. I didn't care for the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It was kind of dry and it tasted like something was missing. The croffle was amazing. It has a nutty, pecan like taste to it and it was topped with vanilla gelato and blueberries. I couldn't really taste the maple syrup but it was delicious nonetheless.

I've been to Another Broken Egg Cafe plenty of times and the food is absolutely delicious! From…read moretheir savory breakfast to their sweet dishes, I love all of it . My favorite of course is their pancakes! The service is amazing and very attentive. And the ambiance and the vibes is completely up my alley. If you've never tried this place, I recommend that you do because you're missing out!

I visited over Mother's Day weekend knowing this restaurant uses a waitlist instead of…read morereservations, so we added our name about two hours before arriving. Given the holiday crowds, I think they handled the chaos fairly well, and overall I'd rate the experience 3.5 out of 5 stars. We were originally quoted a wait of 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, but still waited another 45 to 50 minutes after arriving before being seated. It was a nice day, so waiting outside was not terrible, though some guests were clearly frustrated, especially walk ins who did not realize the waitlist was necessary on such a busy holiday. Once seated, service was friendly and gracious despite the pressure staff were under. It did take a while for us to get water at the table, which felt a little strange, and the food also took about 40 more minutes to arrive. That said, everything we ordered was delicious. The standout was definitely the cinnamon roll French toast, and the blueberry lavender lemonades were a huge hit at our table. My tostadas were ok but not the highlight of our table. My partner loved the chicken sandwich, and the beignet biscuits were also fluffy and good! Overall, the biggest issue was simply the length of the waits. I have been to busy holiday brunches before that moved a bit faster, and I think the quoted wait times should have been longer to better reflect reality. Still, I appreciated the staff's professionalism and was happy to support a Black owned business. I would absolutely come back on a non holiday weekend, especially for that cinnamon roll French toast again! The vibe is relaxed and feels cozy outside and in, so it feels like a good place to catch up with friends or family which worked well for the holiday brunch.
