basic king size room on 2nd floor

Checked in over the weekend and it was a pretty smooth encounter. Smaller hotel with a cute pub outside. not really close to anything but right off the highway, which was convenient. We had a room on the second floor and I definitely did not like the keypad to enter the room. It did not work several times and I was not impressed. my husband had to let me in the room a couple times due to the keypad not working even waiting a while for it to have a chance to re-process like the front desk had mentioned. The room was clean. The shower was a good size. They had coffee pods for coffee, which was appreciated. The breakfast was not notable. The eggs were not really eggs very concerning spit it out right away. The sausage patty was okay. There were very minimal options and breakfast was overall not good probably the most disappointing breakfast I've had for several years at any hotel. Would not recommend wasting time for that. Overall the hotel itself is okay and cheaper than most of the other options in Half Moon Bay.

I was surprised that this hotel was not listed on YELP as it has been in business at least since June 2018. But in reading other hotel reviews, I see that this hotel was previously called Cameron's Inn. It is located off Cabrillo Hwy right next to Cameron's Restaurant and Inn off on a small street called Wavecrest Road. The area is quiet and off the beaten path. Rooms are clean and quiet. There's a fitness center, business center, complimentary breakfast, pet friendly and the staff is friendly. Check in was a breeze and they also have a kiosk at the front desk. If you are looking for a quiet and clean place to stay, that has a Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator and soap/shampoo/body wash dispenser in the shower, soap and lotion dispenser in the bathroom, this is your place. Complimentary breakfast is served for about two hours each morning which consists of a hot entree (today was sausage and egg muffin), bagels to toast, fruit like banana and oranges, cereal, instant oatmeal, yogurt, packaged muffins and granola bars, coffee and tea. Only juice available was in boxed juices for kids, no orange juice. You can also take your breakfast to go in a paper bag/plates. Coffee at the breakfast was ok so I made myself a Keurig cup of Starbucks in the room.

Kiosk Used for Check In During Slow Periods

This hotel is considered an upscale Best Western. I did not think it was particularly fancy, and assume that this just helps justify the higher prices that they can charge in a place like Half Moon Bay. The hotel is done in an English theme, and the lobby is decorated accordingly. The one thing that I found particularly annoying is that they have a kiosk that is used for check in during slow periods, so you end up talking to somebody on a screen who is actually in Columbia to get you through the check in process. This actually works, but I don't think it creates a very friendly atmostphere for you during the check in process. Other than that, I thought this hotel was just fine.

We stayed four nights at Aristocrat. We really enjoyed our stay. Decor is a fun British theme. Room was completely recently renovated and very comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was grab and go style or you can eat at one of the tables. Breakfast sandwiches were served and there was also bagels, toast, cereal, granola bars, bananas, yogurt and juice and coffee. We had a wonderful stay and the price was affordable. We also enjoyed eating at Cameron's next door for a few meals. Lots of variety. We will definitely stay again.

Location wise, short walk to the putting area and club house. The only drawback is it's a 2-story and no elevator. Good old fashion stairs with 2 landings before you reach the top. I watched a guest struggle, carrying HEAVY looking luggages to the second floor. My complimentary glass water bottle fell out of my purse and crash landed on the foyer floor as soon as we entered our room and I had to quickly use towels to sweep the shards and water before I can admire our space. I'm glad there was an abundance of towels as oppose to other hotels where it's an exact set on occupancy. Staff was attentive to get it cleaned up as well as provide an iron and board. They only offer steamer in the room. Our room is well appointed with nice calming colors. Loved how our room had a balcony. Not all upper units have one. A couple of inconveniences: the person below us had their music loud with bass during the day and then again during the evening around 10pm. I didn't call, as I was tempted to but only if it continued. They finally stopped at a decent time. The second was a first floor guest smoking weed. Some permeated through our window because I dropped my spoon on the floor (we ordered room service). It was verified when I opened the balcony door real quick to make sure it's what I smelled. We also experienced some odd protocols after we had a nice lunch at Mullin's (clubhouse). We thought it would be nice to have dessert at the outdoor ocean terrace area. We walked the grounds and asked if we can have a seat with shade. One staff went to check, however once I mentioned we were looking at getting dessert, the hostess turned it around and said for us sit at the bar or seating area beside the hostess stand. What was left were seats in the sun, plus in the seating area folks were sitting here and there. We wanted a table, which I did see there were some closer to the greens. I felt that as an overnight guest, it wouldn't matter dessert or meal, I'm a paying guest, not a visitor. So we left and went to check out The Conservatory. I checked in with the host and mentioned we'd like to have dessert (I was asked if any allergies) and was asked if we'd like the traditional seating area which would be a wait. We waited and got a table in the center. We got the menu and asked for the dessert menu. We were told not in that area, but the next one over. We were confused. I even saw the fake display dessert where we sat. And after all that waiting, we succumbed and just ordered food. Even with these oddities, we still had a great time. Staff provided excellent service. From check-in (Justin), adjusting keys for late check out (Stephen) to staff at Mullin's (we are there again before we left the property), golf staff, room service, to the front greeters at valet. The bag pipe performance, as he walked down the pathway was beautiful. The property views, just amazing!!!! We'd love to come back next year. The Ocean House would be the next spot.

I ordered room service and was overwhelmingly disappointed, every dish just got worse. The Caesar salad could've easily came from a bag, and the dressing was so thick it wouldn't come out of the saucer. The French fries were cold and stale, like they were made earlier and waiting for someone to order. The braised beef was not braised in any way. The beef was so dry it was hard to chew, with minimal sides. After contemplating to DoorDash something else since I was left hungry, still, I decided to give room service a second shot and order dessert. The dessert is what prompted me to leave this review. I've stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Dana point and do not remember such service. The ice cream was nearly melted when arriving to the room if you can't serve it close to frozen then it shouldn't be on the menu. And the cookies 100% came from Costco bakery. I was blown away with how cold they are. How do you serve cold chocolate chip cookies? Again, probably plate it, and then sitting in the fridge. With such a beautiful hotel and location, I would recommend eating elsewhere. $300 wasted on prepackaged food. I'd rather stay at the four seasons.

They offered complementary wine in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Their breakfast was provided by nearby bakeries which was really nice to support/highlight local businesses! The hotel was clean, quiet, and staff were all very friendly. Even the interactions that we witnessed were all very helpful and pleasant. This hotel is walking distance to a few restaurants by utilizing the walking path along the water. The only negative about our stay was the temperature in the room. It was very warm (even in March) and since there is no air conditioning we were forced to keep the back door open and bugs were coming in from the crack of the screen door. Otherwise very pleasant stay and we'd come back.

Daily breakfast is included with your stay. The breakfast consists of pastries, bagels/ cream cheese, yogurt, oatmeal and hard-boiled eggs. They also offer gluten-free bread and pastry options, which I appreciate. Coffee, tea and juices included. There is no hot food. One thing to point out is the rooms do not have air-conditioning. This typically isn't an issue because half Moon Bay runs cooler and comfortable temperatures for most of the year but my husband and I do prefer a colder room at night time so we slept with the door open. There was no ceiling fan, but they do have a couple of portable fans stored in the closets for use. Shower in our room had low water pressure, so not great for those with longhair. The hotel is right next-door to Sam's chowder House so easy walk. Beach access-there is a beautiful walking path right downstairs, which you can access from the hotel. The only thing between the walking path and the ocean is some rocks. I was told by a local that the water directly in front of the hotel is not swimmable but there is beach access with some water about 5 minute walk down the path. The path is smooth so easy for strollers, bikes or other means.

We didn't have any reservations and as we got closer to our destination, found this quaint B&B and decided to stop and check it out, even though I found a room on a 3rd party site. Lucky us - the last room available was their Nantucket Suite! Check in was a breeze and Sandra walked me through the grounds via telephone, letting me know there was complimentary wine and cookies and also a hot breakfast served direct to our room in the morning. I loved our room! It was spacious and light, tastefully decorated and exactly what was needed after a few days on the road it also had a jacuzzi tub which I took full advantage of. Plush pink robes were provided as well. There is a coffee maker in the room, along with some complimentary water and some basic amenities such as :mini fridge, microwave, wine glasses, etc. a perfect place to stay for a few days even though we were only there for the night. Our stay was around $500 for one night, which felt pretty steep for what you get. I personally wouldn't say it was worth $500/night but if you can find a lower rate, I think it would be a great option! Check in was super easy and they actually let us check in about 2 hours early. We mentioned to the front desk that we were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary & they surprised us with a complimentary bottle of wine which was such a sweet touch! Our room was spacious and we had a partial view of the golf course. I loved the balcony to relax. The bed was really comfortable and parking was easy. One thing to know: THERE IS NO AC! Our room was pretty stuffy but thankfully we were on the second floor and were comfortable sleeping with the sliding door open. I probably wouldn't have felt as comfortable doing that on the first floor. I had also heard that the walls can be pretty thin, but luckily our neighbors were quiet during our stay, so we didn't have any issues with noise. The jacuzzi was a highlight! It's large and the jets are nice and strong. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio area with couches, tables and chairs, fire pits, and outdoor games, which would be really nice for hanging out with friends or family. The location is excellent, only about 3 minutes from the Ritz-Carlton and the Half Moon Bay Golf Links/Ocean Course, so it's super convenient if you're planning to golf or explore the area. The complimentary continental breakfast was probably the most underwhelming part. They had bagels, oatmeal, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffles. It was fine, but I was surprised there weren't any potatoes or a few more options. We enjoyed our stay! I'd definitely consider staying here again, especially if I could find a better rate.
