Malls are my kryptonite, to admit I entered the Westfield almost hurts my soul. But it's assuaged by the awesome finds at Aritzia. A more refined, Canadian version of H&M, this store carries chic but trendy designer brands for the mature hipster. And I say that in the best of ways. Its gals are bubbly and outgoing, and always give sincere feedback. Much appreciated when my ass looks like a washboard and shoulders like a linebacker. Aritizia is a breath of fresh air in the staleness that is the Westfield Mall. A Canadian boutique with high-ish end clothes, sometimes I feel like it has all an urban girl could need in one weekend. Cute form-fitting hoodie sweatshirts? Check. Green silk dress with a high-waisted tie? Check. Houndstooth scarf? Check. Rock n' Republic jeans? Check. Aritzia is a nice new addition to the old wing of Westfield, located near Kenneth Cole. It offers contemporary mid-range priced clothes for women. The store design is much better than the one at Valley Fair. They do carry a nice selection of Rock & Republic, Citizens of Humanity and Seven jeans, and their cashmere pieces are reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly and helpful, but it is a bit obvious that they're really more concerned about up-selling and making numbers. I don't fault them for that because that's the nature of retail and a new store needs to kick ass (it's all about increasing those UPTs = units per transaction!). I can see how some people might find it a bit pushy and aggressive though. I like to be shown pieces instead of browsing, because you know they've already seen the fit and personalized service is always nice. I really like this store's fashion sense and customer service. The fashion leans into more casual, business, and soft street wear. I can see how Aritzia can also fit under a Korean fashion, too. Similar route to H&M, but more refreshing with trendy patterns and luxarious fabrics from sweaters to blouses. The price range isn't what I call affordable. A cropped top blouse is $65, but if you like the material then go for it. The staffs are very friendly and sweet. I was carrying a few hangers while going through the store and a staff offered to put them by the fitting room while I continue browse around. I was kind of eavesdropping some of the staffs, because they made really good suggestions on how to piece an outfit together for you. The fitting room isn't like most clothig stores. You get a little room without a mirror. Once you tried it on, you walk out and check yourself out with a large mirror with other customers. It did seemed intimidating to be trying clothes in in front of strangers... but it actually makes me feel confident! Haha, think about doing a mini catwalk in the fitting room floor. It was pretty fun even when I'm shopping alone! Yes I recommend this place to anyone who is okay with spending the extra money on the clothing. I don't shop here often, but 3/4 times I've been here, I've always been ignored compared to someone else coming in right after me. Have I suddenly died and became invisible? I don't like salespeople hovering over me, but at least a 'Hi' will be appreciated. I went in recently to browse around since there was a sale going on and ended up holding a few pieces to try on. Well, tall white lady in a fur coat, heavy makeup, and heels gets a 'Oh! Would you like to start a fitting room?' while I, after waving them down to help me get something, don't get the same question even though I was already holding something. Love the store and the vibe. It's kind of minimal and monochromatic, and a good mix of classic and trendy. If you're ready to graduate from Forever 21, this is a great place to start. Came here recently to try on bralettes and love that there were so many nice styles in stock, with a great selection of sizes XS to L as well. But how on earth can I try on a bra when there are no mirrors in the fitting rooms? The only way to take advantage of the communal fitting room mirror would be to expose my body to the people walking down 5th street. The fitting room area and common mirror is totally visible through the glass window. No thanks. I'd rather shop online and deal with returning in store than do that. read more

The cuteness of their tanks, tops, jeans, etc. have not changed but here's why I'm taking off 1 cute Yelp star: SALES ASSOCIATES ARE TOOOOOOOOOOOO AGGRESSIVE! At first I thought they were being just plain helpful, but I think they do work off commissions. They do help you find cute things, but do note that some sales associates can go on and on and on and on and on and ON about how cute it is and how GREAT and FANTASTIC and AWESOME it would look on you. Only come in here if you have a strong gut to say NO and walk out of there without purchases or else you're going to be a few benjamins poorer after a few minutes. I came in here on Black Friday and they had 7 for all Mankind jeans on sale. The ones I were eyeing were $189 and they were on sale for $125. WHAT A BARGAIN! I picked up my size, tried them on, walked around the store, picked up a few more items and was going to go pay for all of it but after ringing it up and almost charging my cc, they finally told me "oh btw, it's final sale." Why didn't they tell me earlier?? Heidi C. does NOT like the words 'FINAL SALE.' I told her to not ring me up yet and stood there pondering if I would really keep the jeans since I am a bulimic shopper. I asked if I could put it on hold and the sales associates hesistantly agreed to put it on hold for an hour. I walked off wanting to check if Bloomies and/or Nordys had a better sale and after having taken two steps out their door, one of the sales associatese ran after me and touched my arm and slightly grabbed it to get my attention and said "...if you buy it, we will honor returns up til the close of business." So I've been holding off on writing a review about this store for awhile because I like giving people the benefit of the doubt but in the YEAR that I've worked in SOMA, I stop into Aritzia as my own personal social experiment. Every couple of months I see something cute in the window and go in fully intending to shop but the customer service deters me EVERY. TIME. I walk in with my an intentional curious look on my face and linger around looking for sizes, gathering things in my hand and not ONCE has an employee asked to help or even given me eye contact for that matter. Once, the employees themselves were taking turns trying on outfits "omg you look SO cute" "No YOU do!" (ver batim). Those moments really bother me, having worked in customer service. I could be Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and be ready to drop a lot of cash...but in light of their terrible service I do not, based off principle. Later Aritzia! I really like the clothes that Aritzia offers, but I can't shop here. While the security person is extremely nice and the sales people are pleasant, I really don't enjoy when I'm not allowed allowed to wander and look without being interrupted. I don't need to be asked if I want my selections put in a fitting room every time I pick something up, and I CERTAINLY don't need fit/style feedback from the sales team at the COMMUNAL dressing room mirror if I haven't asked for it. Basically, the shopping experience does not work with the way I like to shop, and I know I'm not alone (based on the other reviews here). The communal mirror feels like social engineering. I feel compelled to write a review even though I usually mostly review restaurants because I found the customer service outstanding. I sought out the Aritzia store yesterday after I had spent some time on the east coast in 10 degree weather and realized what i consider my winter coat (for SF weather) was a bit of a joke for east coast winters. A friend had been raving about coveting an Aritzia parka and once I saw one my freezing butt wanted one even though SF weather wouldn't warrant a parka even on its coldest day. But they were on sale! And the fur is faux! And I am cold!!! I browsed online and almost ordered one but then noticed there was an actual store in SF! I'm rarely on that side of the Westfield Center so I never noticed it. I read the yelp reviews and found myself reluctant to go in since so many reviews dodgged the customer service. I usually do most of my shopping online since I can't stand people 90% of the time. But I found myself early for a movie @ Century so I went in to see if they had any of the coats i had been looking at. The store is intimidating and fancy for someone in a $12 Forever 21 dress who couldn't remember if she brushed her hair that morning (me on most saturday mornings!) but whatever, I easily spotted all the faux fur where a bulk of the parkas were and started looking. 5 minutes in I was asked if I was looking for anything in particular and I told the sales associate (I'm pretty sure her name was Alex) that I was checking out the different parkas and wanted to compare their heavyweights to their not-so heavyweights so I could gauge which coat would make sense for me. She pulled me one of their heaviest ones and showed me how it had a removable inner liner coat and removable hood for transitioning to spring to winter and started a room for me as i looked at other things. I tried on another parka and some leggings and she checked in on me once which was completely acceptable and nice and i never once felt like she was pressuring me to buy anything. I do indeed hate that there is no mirror inside your dressing room and you have to go out to see yourself, but since i was trying on mostly coats and some leggings it wasn't too big of an issue for me. I found the parka of my dreams plus a really soft but thick pair of awesome Community leggings on sale. I told Alex I was going to a movie but didn't want to drag my stuff up with me so they put it on hold for me. When I came back, a different sales associate (blond) who I don't even remember talking to walked by, "Hey, you're back! We have your things on hold for you!" I never caught her name but I was shocked she remembered me and Alex was still there so they got my things and I added a beanie that was on sale to the pile and had a pleasant checkout. They were really thorough in makings sure all the theft sensors were removed and ran the coat through the entrance just to make sure they had all of them. This experience was the exact opposite of what I read in the reviews here so I thought I'd add my two cents. For someone who can't stand sales people who are either all over you and won't leave you alone to those who blatantly ignore you while they hang out with their co-workers, this was a great experience! read more

I love the clothes in this store! The styles are different than the other stores in that mall, and you can find an outfit that you fits you great. It seems these days all the clothing stores are selling the same thing. At Aritzia, you get more than just a standard sweater or a t-shirt with random writing. The styles are very unique, and there's more than one name brand in the store to choose from. They also have all sizes including XS & XXS. And their prices are not too expensive... not cheap but not too expensive. My first time in the store I walked away with a super cute $50 dress which would normally cost $80 at Express or $150 at Bebe. I would've given five stars but the cons about this store are that the employees are waaaay too pushy... throwing too many outfits at you, bugging you every minute. I know they are trying to make their sales, but jeez let a customer be! If I say I'm just looking, then I'm just looking! Right when you look at a shirt for one second, right away they ask for your size or they come up to you out of nowhere giving you some outfit without even asking you what you're looking for. They don't believe in window shopping, so go in the store ONLY if you plan on buying something. Don't believe me? Walk in there yourself and get continuously picked on. Another con is that there are no mirrors in the fitting rooms forcing you to go outside and share one mirror with everyone else. I don't care to see what everyone else is trying on and I don't want the whole store to see what I try on! This is the company's strategy to get the sales associates to push the products on you even more and get you to buy every little thing. If I could talk to the owner, I would say PLEASE re-strategize your selling techniques! Other than that, I love the clothes and would keep shopping here. I wish they had more locations. Not only does Aritzia have hip and good quality clothes, they have the best sales staff in the mall. Everyone working there were really friendly and helpful and even remembered me when I happened to be back in the next day (during a hectic xmas shopping season). They have cute reversible sweaters, bandeaus, jeans and layering tanks. Its not cheap, but you pay for what you get. The material is actually washable and you can't find a lot of the clothes anywhere else. I think they are made solely for this store in Canada. I love Aritzia. I used to drive down to Valley Fair just to shop there! I love love love all the brands they carry and the quality of their clothing is great as well. All the clothes are very comfortable and versatile - office appropriate AND you can wear it out to paint the town! Another reason I am a faithful Aritzia customer is because of the excellent customer service. The ladies who work at both locations are always very accomodating and helpful. Can't figure out your size? They'll gladly help and don't act judgemental about your figure. Don't know what to pair that cute top or those bootylicious jeans with? Came to Aritzia again... because I realized the dress I had for a wedding that day was see-through. Once again, Mandy is there! Thank god, because she is EXTREMELY helpful and I love her, just like last time. She picked out a gorgeous dress for me that looked awesome on my skin and body! First choice. She followed up to make sure it fit right and I felt comfortable. MAJOR props. I didn't see any of the other sales associates on the floor assisting the other customers in the store, but Mandy was working with like 6 people! I love their clothes. So much that I'm always invited to their private sale. Customer service, however, is terrible. It's been multiple times when I go in to pick up from my clothes from repairs (the quality is not necessarily the best, but at least they offer free repair). My clothes are not always ready even after a few weeks. Sometimes I even call ahead to make sure. They somehow manage to falsely tell me my clothes are ready but in fact there not. It's very frustrating as I hate wasting my time walking all the way from fidi. read more

Clothes: I suppose some clothes LOOK similar to something you'd get at forever 21, but don't be fooled. The material is much softer and will probably last longer. The style is pretty basic, but they get new shipments in weekly so there's always something new and fresh to try on. I finally found a store that caters to my stylish preference. =) Price: relatively affordable $40-80 (unless you're buying cashmere, denim, or leather) Sales rep: Most, if not all, are friendly and helpful and offer to help find what you need and want. HOWEVER...their over the top friendliness is borderline pushy and makes me skeptical. Is it commission based? I say this bc it seems as though there's always at least one person following you and watching you as you shop. Creepy! To top it off, they like to bring new items to the dressing room for you to try on. GREAT now I feel obligated to try on more clothes than I can afford to buy. What happened to personal space and privacy. Which brings me to the next topic: Dressing room Dressing room: I dislike the communal mirror. Although it's nice and big, it faces the streets allowing window shoppers to gawk at you as you're trying on a dress that may be 2 sizes too small. Why aren't there mirrors in the dressing room? My sister Siobhan has been telling me about this Aritzia store from the beginning of construction. Never have I heard of them or looked at their online store I did not really have an interest. But with my sister's immaculate taste I was fortunate to be in the city the day it opened. "They have cute dresses for a reasonable price Lyss," are the words I remember my sister repeating to me as I walked into the store. Immediately a sales associate welcomes me and asks if I need anything, but I told her I was just looking. Of course I see the cute dresses everywhere, picking some off the rack seeing if they'd contort to my body. The dresses come in many varied selected styles in all different colors which is cool if it is the style that will look good on your body. If not then all those different colors don't matter. There is XXSmall for you tiny people. It is about $60 a dress and $80 and up for sweaters. I love everything in this store and I wished I hadn't spent money in other stores because I would have tried on everything. Speaking of trying on, the only downside to Aritzia is that the dressing rooms have no mirrors!! Don't you hate that?! So you have to step outside to this one big mirror where all the people trying on go to look to see if their clothes fit them while sales associates are blabbing about how good it looks on you and what would look even better. I almost gave this place 5 stars until I remembered the dreaded dressing room. I mean, personally I like deciding to myself in my own privacy what looks good and what doesn't for my body. Or I'd prefer to keep the curtain closed and peak my head out and scream "mom! does this look good on me?" Rather than having 4-5 sales associates grabbing more clothes saying "ooh this would look even better, or have you tried our jeans?" Privacy is a big thing to me and unfortunately you don't get this at this store! BIg pro though, they use organic cotton! read more

If you know me, you know why I loathe stores like this. High end jeans mixed with Forever 21 quality tops they are trying to sell for $100+. Cute clothes - terrible customer service. I specifically asked about the stores return policy before purchase, and the associate said that items at full price can be returned within 10 days. Strict but - I can deal with that. Come back a few days later and am denied a return because the item was a shirt-like bodysuit. I asked how I would have known that if the associate did not tell me, and they said that it is on the back of the receipt. But don't I receive a receipt AFTER purchase? Note to associates: please be truthful in your explanation of the return policy. Trendy clothes can get your store far but at a certain point, when your customer experience is so bad that your customers don't TRUST you, it sheds light onto why retail is struggling. read more

I loved this place! I walked in and was a bit overwhelmed at first but the sales women; Amanda and another who's name I didn't get, brought me back down to earth. I told them what I was looking for and and was surprised to love almost every piece they recommend. Being from Toronto and having lived in Vancouver where I saw girls lose any sort of inhibition in their skanky TNA track suits (helloooo cameltoe!) and their dumb tna faux fur parkas, the thought of having that sad trend spread through San Francisco made me sick to my stomach. However, I stepped into the Westfield location and didn't see anything all that bad about the store. Yes, the clothes are overpriced in some instances, but I'd like to see you try to produce a genuine virgin wool peacoat that is beautifully tailored for a hair over $300. The place isn't great, but it definitely isn't as bad as I remember it being so I place it somewhere between 'meh' and 'ok.' read more

I love the clothes here and especially how they style them! The quality of their clothes is really nice here. I feel like they look thin but they're not gonna tear after a couple of washings. They carry American brands such as 7 for All Mankind, J Brand, and Citizens of Humanity. I'm a huge fan of their Canadian brands as well like TNA And Talua. Sometimes they have sales here which makes it even more exciting to come here! Other than that, it's pretty expensive here...like $40 for a lace tanktop! I've been looking for a black leather Moto Jacket for a while and I decided now is the time to get one. The only problem, I can't seem to find one that I like in the price range that I think is acceptable. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago when I was on the BART and I saw my first bag Aritzia shopping bag. It made an impression because I couldn't read the curly cue type font but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the Westfield downtown and saw the store. The store has a good flow/layout and a nice selection of modern, minimalist clothing. The staff was really friendly. I was so excited to see that they had three different Mackage black leather jackets. My in store stylist was friendly, helpful and made some great suggestions. I decided on the Rumor a Mackage Moto unique to Aritzia, a grey Wilfred sweater and a Wilfred blanket scarf. I wandered into Aritzia on Friday for a quick retail therapy fix and was not disappointed. I had my eyes sight on the off-the shoulder navy sweater and variety of hoodies and was delighted to find out that they had size XXS. Who else stocks that size?!?!? T&A is a great Canadian brand and I'm glad they have entered into the U.S. market. Their bowling-type bags are great to travel with and their hoodies are snug, soft and warm. Keeping in the theme of (what seems like) the rest of the shops at SF Centre, the customer service from associates aka folders of clothes and apparently nothing else is completely less than stellar. I LOVE Aritizia and I will drive down to South Bay to go to the one at Valley Fair for the simple fact that THERE at least the wokers will talk to you and acknowledge you instead of worrying about if all their damn sweaters are folded. Its 130pm and guess what, its going to get messed up again anyway. Maybe I have too high of an expectation--I mean, I only wanted to spend money in the store and oh, I don't know, provide you your damn paycheck. Aritzia, Adidas, Zara---all the same. This mall is going downhill fast--no wonder the stores keep closing. If you love Aritzia, go to Valley Fair---they actually want your patronage and exhibit what client service is. I am a frequent shopper at Aritzia and I love their clothing, but this retail experience is extremely unwelcoming and terrible. The reality of today's shopping environment is that people like to shop online -- it's much easier to find what you're looking for, especially since this retail location is so small and does not carry most merchandise. With online shopping, returns are inevitable, and most modern and beloved stores (e.g. Amazon, Lululemon, Nordstrom, etc.) expect returns to be part of the shopping process and make them easy. Not so at Aritzia -- the sales girls are extremely rude, curt, and dismissive whenever there's a return -- to the point where frequent shoppers like myself who have spent thousands of dollars there are just completely turned off the idea of going back. read more

Easily my favorite clothing store in SF. Items are always super on trend, clothing is comfy/classy and quality is generally high. I think I have only been dissatisfied (on the quality front) with one of my items (a white lace dress made by Dilemma which was balling up after only 2-3 wears). Salesreps are super hands-on, which I know suits a certain type of shopper, but sometimes I would prefer if they back off unless I specifically ask for their opinion (especially when everything I put on "looks sooo good" on me according to them, when I know that is not true). My super petite friend who always struggles to find clothes that fit adores this place too. They have XXS and I think XXXS in some brands and she finally has a fashionable option for clothes that are cute and fit correctly. For those of you who want to buy or already own the TNA lambswool sweater, FYI - it says Dryclean Only on the back, but I managed to successfully hand wash it. You just have to be super careful and follow online instructions on how to wash lambswool sweaters. I actually was purposefully trying to shrink it down one size (from M to S) so I used slightly lukewarm water and it worked well. My only complaint is the price. DAYAM that stuff is expensive!!! I usually wait for sales because their end of the season markdowns are pretty phenomenal. Still, although their stuff is more expensive, I find myself wearing the pieces I buy from there ALL the time so my $/wear is oftentimes comparable to cheaper fast fashion stores (H&M, Zara, etc.). read more

I wish I could give zero stars to this business. I ordered a shirt for my daughter's birthday on 11/22 in store to be delivered to my house. Two months later it still hasn't arrived. I checked with the store and they tell me that it's stick "somewhere" in a fed ex facility (or possibly lost). They also tell me that since they shipped it that it's my problem and I need to follow up with FedEx. What?? That's not my issue...they took my money, they chose the shipper. It seems like I should get my money back since they never delivered the product to me. Three phone calls and one visit to the store later and I still don't have a refund. Now they need to open up a missing item file. I've never been involved with such nonsense and incompetence before. How many months do I need to keep following up with this terrible store for a shirt I don't even want anymore. Waste of time for mediocre fast fashion and awful customer service. read more
