When we picked up the meat we got 585 lbs from one and 256 lbs from the other. They were both the same size and age and when I told the local large animal vet, who saw them 2 months prior to butchering, he could not believe it and joked did we drop off a calf. I asked them if they ever mix someone else's up with another's and he said no. When we got the organs there was only a heart and when we asked about the liver he just went into the freezer and came out with someone else's. They sell dog food, and we wondered where the meat comes from for it, now we know. The problem is how do you prove something went wrong. After spending the time and money raising them it is very discerning when you get ripped off. I was hesitant in using them to begin with due to word of mouth negative reviews but tried out of convenance, not again.

The shop was amazingly clean and offered not only Piedmontese Beef, but organic chicken, duck, and Easter Ham. My girlfriend and I went a little "nutzo koo koo" and picked up steaks, hamburgers, Bacon Fig Kabobs, hand-made sausage, and dried Morel mushrooms. There is even a great selection of seasonings and a dedicated cheese refrigerator to round out the meal. To clear up some confusion from other reviews: this is a legitimate butcher shop, not a restaurant! We watched the butcher bringing out fresh hand-cut steaks, bone-in ribeyes, and even a massive Tomahawk. They also have fresh, never-frozen prepared hamburger patties ready to go. We definitely splurged, and even though we live 2 hours away in Phoenix, the helpful store manager--a friendly Viking with an amazing red beard--gave us an ice pack to keep our provisions perfectly refrigerated for the trek home. Pro: Great slaw (sweet with heat) Con: They only serve the burnt end sandwich for lunch, and the BBQ portions were far too large for what we wanted. In my younger days I would have pounded down one of their BBQ specialties and topped it off with dessert, but as a senior I no longer eat like that. They definitely need senior-sized combos allowing smaller appetites to enjoy a little taste of everything. We both agreed this place would be great for catering a big event.
