The space still has that nice rustic charm with plenty of seating inside and outside on their nice patio. Ordering, however, has changed. Beers, cocktails, nonalcoholic beverages, cans to-go, and food is all ordered up at the bar. There was 1 lone employee working the bar; taking orders, pouring beers, mixing cocktails, and closing people out at the register. This was so incredibly inefficient, particularly on such a busy day. I stood in line 3 separate times (once to initially order two pints, a second time to order a flight of other beers we wanted to taste, and a final time to purchase two cans to-go and close out my tab); each time in line took between 15-25 minutes. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and she was working as quickly as possible while maintaining a relatively happy attitude, but boy did I feel bad for her. Management really messed this up; someone needed to step in and help. With such a big celebration in town that day, there needed to be a minimum of 3 employees manning the bar to take orders and get drinks. As for the beer itself, as usual it's just average. Great if you're looking for something cold to enjoy, but not memorable if you're a craft beer nerd. We went in knowing what the quality would be, but still wanted to try all the new beers since we hadn't been in a couple of years. We didn't eat while there, but in the past when we have, the food is good. The knock of two stars was simply for the horrible management of orders. I don't know when they decided to get rid of waiters and put all the pressure onto the bartender, but geez what an awful decision that was.

They were kind enough to cut the burger in half and provide an egg for each half, since they knew we were sharing!! Indeed, 1 burger and 1 small fry is enough to feed 2 people. As expected, the burger was juicy, flavorful, and the egg was perfectly fried to still be runny. Outlaw Grille is a small burger joint packed with big flavors. Sarah, the bartender, brought the place to life. Super friendly, attentive, and just a great energy all around. Service was quick, and they've got a solid selection of draft beers. The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, the artichoke dip was ridiculously good, and the tots were crispy, salty perfection (I'm still thinking about them). Right after my initial review the restaurant went through a management and ownership change and a LOT changed. I came back once or twice after the new ownership and the food was in transition. I waited really, another several months for things to settle down, and started coming more regularly. The food is substantial, first of all. Mark, (owner), takes immense pride in serving quality food. Pricing sadly, in commensurate with Sedona, but that is life here in the VV. There is smoked prime rib dinners on Saturday, Taco Tuesday and relevant holiday specials. But again, portions can be shared or you've got two meals. Win-win Management and staff has changed, for the better from previous. Staff is friendly, efficient and professional. I live in town and we have few choices, but our choices are consistent and down to earth. The Roost is great for travelers and residents alike, who are seeking good food and atmosphere! I've been impressed with the sense of community the restaurant provides to all.
