Stopped in for the first time this past weekend. Right off the bat I have to say it's probably the best pizza I've had in the Tucson area. We had a large party and ordered three large pizzas: BBQ chicken, the pesto one, and the meat lovers pizza. All excellent. The counter service was adequate, not overly friendly but efficient. I walked over to the adjoining bar and instantly felt like an outsider. The bartender wasn't particularly friendly and seemed slightly annoyed that I asked what they had on tap. She was chatting it up with others just fine, so I think it was because I was a new face. I took my beer over to the pizza side, and after I was done I didn't go get another one because I felt like I was intruding. Boneless wings were very good as well, as were the fried mushroom appetizers. The pizzas came out in shifts, which is fine, except the plates came out in shifts as well and when we asked about more plates the staff didn't seem overly concerned or engaged. "Matty" is easily the most condescending bartender I've ever encountered. Or person for that matter. He treats people like they should be honored to be in his presence. If you see the guy it's comical that he has this sense about him. I love grabbing a slice that is bigger then my face after we hike in Sabino Canyon. You can grab a slice and a soda for $10. I grew up coming here and it will always hold a special place. I have ordered from this place three times and it's a solid pizza. The sauce placed on the pizza is of a smoother consistency with a tangy, herb, and oregano flavor. The toppings ordered are always placed evenly and not skimped (good portion). The crust is crunchy and not too thin or thick. What I have found is sometimes you will get one pizza slice bottom a little burnt due to the pizza not being turned on time, but it's ok just an observation. If you like crunchy crust edges to dip in ranch sauce their pizza has it! I always leave my edges behind, but I do that on all pizza's, get your fill here. If your real adventurous stop in and order a pizza to eat there and order their large pizza and you will say wow like I did. Huge! My observation thinks it will feed five hungry construction workers easily, and, if you and your buddies want a beer or mixed drink there is a connecting door to a bar next door. read more

Where to start....decent place to kick back and relax... decent bar to talk sports and bs.... But if you aren't on the same side as the bartender....man you have it out for you. Specifically "'matty". You'll wait 5 minutes for a drink because he's too caught up with the "regulars". If it's a slow night...be ready to get kicked out or forced out within a few minutes if it's getting anywhere close to closing time. Delicious Pizza Slices. Most NY style I have found yet here in Tucson. Love the bar too. AZ Wildcat bar. They serve full alcohol. I had the Italian Grinder as well, and it was good. Bartender is always attentive and a great guy to chat with. The servers/cashiers that you order from in the restaurant area are nice and were patient explaining the slice order I was inquiring about. I love the crust here. It's crunchy and not too soft....thin!! Foldable! It's sooo good. Slices are giant btw. Oh and the ice. If you eat in the restaurant, and self serve yourself a soft drink they have the BEST ICE!!!! Our friends brought pizza and wings to us about a week ago. I had had the pizza before...it was a delicious vegetarian one with the right proportions of sauce, cheese and veggies. I hadn't tried the wings before because I don't eat them often anymore. They were also delicious! Our friends said that there was no "medium" wing sauce; just mild and hot. I tried each one. I've been going to AZP for years and it's still one of my favorite pizza places in Tucson. The vibe is super casual, and the service is always great. The pizza comes out fast, and the slices are so big and a great portion size for one person. My favorite slice to get is the Gourmet Cheese, and I've never ordered differently since trying it. The cashier let us know that they are best known for their large slice of pizza combo meal deal. Our family of four got 5 different slices with different topping options and 1 pound of barbecue wings. We definitely could not eat it all but it was fun trying the different topping pizzas. I would say one slice is equivalent to 1.5 of the standard personal pan pizza. My kids really loved the slices because they were huge and they had never had a piece of pizza that big so that was definitely fun for the kids. I would say these pizza or more of a quantity thing not necessarily the highest quality of product. If you know you know, if you don't you might feel offended. So again I get it. The bad.... [[HIGHLIGHT]]We walked in and asked if they had slices because there is no clear window full of pies but the vibe seams right.. yes we have slices[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. And we were told what the slices will look like with a diagram drawn in sharpy on a pizza pan. Then the guy pointed to a regular sized pie that looked like classic New York/ Jersey style pie. They referred to it as"huge Slice". So you can get one of these "huge" slices and a drink for $10 bucks. When asked about just buying a pie we were told we can NOT buy one! We can only buy a large pie that is about half the size of a regular pizza. So for a family of 4 it was $10 per slice =40$ plus a beer and a crappy glass of white cheep wine brought the bill up to almost $80 bucks. We just moved here from a place where a regular pie is as big as the Huge pie and 3 slices and two cans of whatever drink you want comes to a total of $12.80. So beyond getting raked over the coals for dough and cheese. Not only did we feel like we had gotten robbed on the way out. The pizza was sub par. Crust was crunchy enough but had no flavor. The sauce was too sweet but it was ok. The cheese was a good choice but they could lighten up. The whole experience left me a little sad they I thought I may have found a great place but instead I found a place that is more about one customer one time rather than repeating customers. I would go back if it was 1/2 the price and I could buy a whole pie. You can get the same slice on the boardwalk at seaside heights with a small coke in a styrofoam cup for a buck and a quarter. read more

What a fantastic pizza restaurant. You have your choice of pizza, calzone or salads. A great choice is their giant slice of pizza and a drink for $8. It's available all the time and not just a lunch special as other restaurants do. For $1 each you can get additional toppings. The giant slice is just as promised, giant! If you have a hefty appetite, you will be able to finish this; otherwise you can share it or take leftover for cold breakfast pizza. What we also liked about this pizza is that the dough is just the right consistency; not too thin and not too thick. The sauce and cheese are perfectly balanced as are the toppings. They also have a bar in an adjoining room for adults, while they have game machines in another room for the kids and other adult kids! Best part of this restaurant is that it is a Tucson local. I order custom slices because the slice is already baked, they add your toppings and bake it again to get it all hot and delish, but the bonus is the crust gets crispy! I can't stand soggy, flimsy crusts on pizza - which ny style normally is. This crunch adds the missing texture! Purchased a 16" cheese pizza today. I'm very picky about a crust and unfortunately, the crust was thick and chewy. Disappointed because I used to enjoy thin crust from this place, but today they guy said, "well this is our normal crust" ... (Even though they don't expire until 12/2024??) Honestly that's bad business & even though I previously went here, I will not be back. As employees, we got to choose what certificates to get, & knowing I have worthless certificates to this restaurant when I could've chose other places- sucks. I'm new to town and always looking for a good pizza place that offers non-traditional flavors. They did not disappoint! Ordered the chicken pesto, no chicken, light cheese. Perfectly cooked, fantastic crust - very light and 'fluffy,' if that makes sense. I'm also a fried mushroom connoisseur and they were excellent - very crispy, not too much batter. Ok, fine, the mailer was surely put together prior to the price increase. But now you won't honor it? It's not expired and it just showed up. False advertising of the classic bait-and-switch type.
