No matter what you ask they give you the same freaking haircut as every other person. I was clear on saying just a small trim and a 1 one the side. The guy chopped me and kept going shorter. It was too late for me to say something. You think they're done and they keep going. And his breath smelled horrible. Literally doesn't care and goes through the motions. Never go here. They can't understand what you're saying and just hear key phrases. He prob thought I said "shorter" when i explicitly said "'not short just a small trim from the top". I asked the barber here to leave the top long to cover my thinning spot, and he agreed without hesitation, but when he finished, he'd left the thin spot exposed. I mentioned I'd asked him to leave it covered and he said "You're too old to wear your hair like that {! He was the oldest guy there at the time, with a Russian accent I think, but don't all barbers have Russian accents? So if you're "too old" and don't want your requests ignored by a would be self-appointed "stylist", avoid this place. read more

By far the best Barber Shop in HK. I've lived here 2 years, been to at least 10 different shops and I always end up back at Arkadiys. I won't make the mistake of going somewhere else again. It's funny how bad the haircut was. This was my 2nd time to come here and the first barber did a great job. He was off today so I got another barber. I asked my bang to be on my eyebrows level, not too short. He showed me first how long he'll cut my bang and asked "Is this Okay?". I said yes cuz it was about 1 inche shorter. But he started to make it shorter and shorter and at the end it was like 4 inches shorter lol And the hairline looks messy and not very neat. read more

I just recently moved in the area and decided to give this place a try. I went and got one of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten. Not only was the haircut rushed (barber took 20 mins tops, my cuts usually take around 45), but my sideburns were different lengths and there were noticeable missed spots that I had to go ahead and trim myself since it looked so bad. The barber ripped me off. The cost is $24 for a haircut I found out after I left. I handed him $40. He gave me only $10 back. A $5 bill and $5 ones. He kept $6. I figured the cut was $30. He basically stole the $6 and I the tipped him $5. Btw it took less than 5 minutes to cut my hair which is a buzz cut. The barber sits in the middle chair. Avoid him. I've been going since before the pandemic mostly ended here in New York and I'd had a hard time finding a good barber. From the start, Ari had new concrete poured on the sidewalk in front of his shop and keeps the place minimal and extremely clean. Ari's hair cutting is not about him; he stays focused and 'follows the pattern' and cut of your hair with precision. Very focused, don't let his humbleness fool you - the guy could work in a salon. His rate is very low so I feel comfortable tipping a little more. In the center of HK and on the busy and very popular and inclusive 9th ave, he holds his weight and never strays from being as good as his first cut with you. He is there a lot so with his reasonable fee I can go in more than once a week if I want just some touch up and don't want to break the bank with my finances. Perfect barbers. They do really great work and just the right price. I moved to the neighborhood in august and was hoping it wouldn't take forever to find great barbers- it didn't! These guys were my first and last stop in my Hells Kitchen barber search. I go to Ari - the first chair. Tyler R. is wrong. I have been going to this barber shop since 2009. There are three full-time barbers at the shop. I have never seen any of them talk on their cell phones or watch TV while they are working. What I have observed are three guys who have a strong work ethic and who try to make their customers happy. After trying all three barbers - I only go the guy on the right - next to the cash register. I believe that he is the owner. The other guys do a good job. However, I am extremely particular with my haircuts - the lines - the sideburns, etc. The guy that I go to does not mind me being so picky. Instead of being annoyed, he works with me, and he does a great job. He cuts my hair just right and does fantastic straight razor shaves. 5 star recommendation from me. read more
